This book turned out to be excellent. It's no wonder that it has already gotten 5 starred reviews. I would give it a 9, since I found myself distractedly confused, but that might also be because I was reading it so fast. It truly is addictive and I can't wait for Amazon to send its sequel to me by mid-February. :) Happy reading! I recommend it.

It's been a while.  I have decided that while I miss blogging, and I find it an excellent way to keep in touch with friends, I feel that I don't have time to blog about my personal life as much.  I really want most of my online image to be about YA books and reviewing them.  I'm halfway through my graduate degree in printing and publishing and my online marketing teacher is requiring our weekly papers to be in blog-form.  I'm trying to tweak these topics to fit in with my idea for Reading Raves.  So, until I have more time than what the homework I do requires, please check my other blog which focuses mainly on the publishing industry.  Feel free to comment there and check often!

I've also recorded the scantron scores for the remaining three sections into my online grade book. This means... So, finals week is over.  :)  I've finished grading the sophomores (both sections) and inputted all their grades into the computer system.  I've also recorded the scantron scores for the remaining three sections into my online grade book.  This means I only have 90 page-long essays to grade and 50 R/C double-column notes to grade, plus putting those grades in the computer.  Then I get to write comments for my 150 students so that they have something to read on their report cards that get sent out on Tuesday at 8am.

Oh joy.

My insurance company should pay me out by the end of the month (I really want to buy a macbook soon, since I'm attempting to plan the second semester ASAP, and having it on a computer I can use at home and at school is ideal).  The good news is, they will pay me the money it would take to replace everything that was stolen (regardless if I am planing to buy it again), minus my $500 deductable.  This is excellent news.  That means I can buy a laptop and then throw all the extra money towards my credit cards.

Which leads me to my new year's resolutions.  I have been staying true to not using my credit cards this year!  It's a bit difficult, since I only get paid once a month, but I'm forcing myself to have a budget and stick to it.  Dennis, Robyn, Yuli, and I have been doing a lot of things in-house or low-cost activities.  As soon as I get my school W2, I will file my taxes (cross your fingers I don't have to PAY more again, like last year).  OH!  And I never got my stimulus check, so I finally called IRS (thanks for the pushing, Dennis), and they are sending me my stimulus check FINALLY!  So if I owe money, I hope it's not more than $600, because I can just give it back to them then.  :)

Images The free haircut from Tony and Guy is not my favorite.  So, I texted one of the ladies there, and she may fix it (when the girl who cut my hair Tueday isn't working; I wouldn't want to embarrass her).  I feel like I have the profile of an alien head--it's all pouffy up top and thin thin thin on the bottom.  I look like one of those people who has such a small amount of hair that growing it long will never work, and yet I'm doing it anyway.  :(  I'm already super self-conscious about how flat my hair looks at the end of the day; this cut isn't helping my esteem.  Dennis and lots of my coworkers say they like it, but I think they're trying to make me feel better, ha.  I'll take a picture of my new (most likely *way shorter*) hair fix-up trim once it's taken care of.

It's game night tonight at Janet's house (Dennis's motherly figure) and until then I must grade, potentially take a reading break, help JV sign the lease with us, and then go to Les Schwab to get them to fix my slow flat (due to another nail, I think).  It's gonna be a jam-packed day!  Love to all.  And thanks for checking the blog.  I'm working on getting a better handle on my routine with it, but without a computer...it's a bit difficult.  

Who am I kidding?  While teaching three different English courses I've never taught before, it's hard to do anything else but grade, plan, prep, and SLEEP.  But know I'm thinking of you.
