It’s that time of the year again that yours truly has to start cracking me head to think up of idea on what to get the family. Although Father’s Day is next month, the stuff I get for Ted is mostly bought online and the post these days really suck so it has to be bought well in advance.

This year I’ve been thinking of getting him a new pair of sunnies, since he’s always losing him and the one he has now is so banged up, it truly bin worthy. Someone told me about Native Sunglasses and apparently its pretty good for outdoor wear – not that Ted does much outdoors. But with 3 hyperactive kids, its pretty much the same!! lol So I best be off to check out the style available.

When I was younger, some 20 years ago or so….I was totally into this song. I never truly understood the lyrics coz I wasnt paying attention to it instead, I was totally engrossed in the melody. The hint here is STALKER….I bet you know what I’m talking about.

How can anyone NOT like this song? It has an excellent melody although now that I’m all grownup, I can tell you that the lyrics totally creep me out!! lol But I still love it though.

When charity does nought for me

Whenever possible, I always try to donate to a good cause. There is an on-going charity drive in my office to raise money for a village in Africa somewhere where the help is needed for books, food and medical attention for an orphanage. And one way they are doing this is…selling chocolates!! :/ Of course this has done nothing but got me hooked on chocs. lol It’s 50c per piece which isnt much when you look at it per piece until you get a handful and realize…wait a min, this aint right on so many levels!!

I have consoled myself and remind myself that my ‘suffering’ is for a good cause even though this is leading to me stuffing my face with chocs. You’ll be glad to know that I’ve since stopped ‘donating’ for choc…now I wait for those almost close to Subway chewy cookies to come in before I snagged them up!! lol All for a good cause…..:P

Midday clubbing

What happens when you listen to club music in the office during the day? You start wanting to go clubbing right there!! And worst still, trying to keep yourself from moving with the beat. :/

For the record, I was never one that was SO into club music until I started working recently. The reason behind this is coz I needed something to keep me awake after lunch and I found myself totally loving Nova FM 969. It’s got a pretty good mix of noisy and cool music plus it sort of keeps me up todate one some of the latest songs around. I remember how ulu I felt when we were at Nancy’s and then Soho’s and I didnt know more than half the songs that was playing. It was most malufying….and made me feel darn old too!! Not that I admit to being or feeling old la.

This is actually one of my fav song at the mo – plus Timomatic is so cute!!! ^.^

Gotta love home delivery!

When I was back in Malaysia, we hardly ever had any home delivery – we never had a reason to. But since the craze caught on, now it’s quite the norm to get pizza home delivered when we used have to pick it up ourselves. Times have changed drastically and almost everything bought online or otherwise can be home delivered.

Items range from flowers, to gifts to gift baskets delivered right to your doorstep – how can one not love it? I for one would love to personally thank the person who first thought up this idea – I say good on ya!!

When you work in a workplace that is multi-cultural, you get all sorts of people from all over the world in one place. I think I’m the only Malaysia there but there are many Fijians that I may have mistaken to be from India. I have been politely corrected a few times which I appreciate.

As for me, I’ve been called many things from Malay, to Punjabi, but never before have I been told that I look Kiwi. So far 2 people at the office guessed that I was Kiwi. One person said that I sounded like them but I highly doubt my accent is sing-song like the Kiwis. The other person took a stab in the dark and I got stabbed alright! lol One colleague said that she wanted to guess Kiwi but I dont have that pronounced feature that most Kiwis have hence that option was ruled out. I wonder what’s next.

Mother’s Day is somewhat around the corner and I have been cracking my head as to what we should get for my Mum and MIL. It is so, so, so much harder to get a gift for someone who already has more than enough things under the sun to last a lifetime….or two!

But I think this year, I nailed it! Aside from customized gift cards – nothing beats something that is personal, this gift is sure to bring a HUGE smile on both Grandma’s and Nanna’s face. I cant quite mention it just in case Mum comes along to check this blog out but I am excited about it!!!! ^.^

Well, not all the time but at the very least, someone will hear that cry for help. While many are proud to ask for help, to me…that is not a sign of strength but a weakness because you are not able to accept that you are not perfect, and in the same breath not taking the initiative to better yourself with help from others.

I say this because the one area that I have always needed help in is getting my resume right. I dont have a fantastic resume, pretty plain and bland really but when applying for a job, I always try to modify my resume so that it fits the role I am after. Of course one has to be realistic and if you are qualified for just an officer’s position, dont go applying for a GM’s position!

Tina is in the midst of a kfc application and I know she is struggling with her resume, yet she is reluctant to ask for help. I would love to help her to the best of my ability but I think I shall not bug her just yet. I reckon she will come for help by dinner time.

These boots are made for walking

I honestly didn’t realise that it is April Fool’s Day coz I havent got pranked on in years and I guess as you get older the novelty wears off and it really is just another day. The only fanstastic thing that happened today is that I (finally) got me a pair of knee high boots!! WOOT!!

While I love boots, I got no reason to buy any coz I dont go out often enough to warrant forking out money for shoes – I’m not a shoe person as you can see. So since I started working, I’ve been dressing up a bit more and well, one should have a pair of boots especially during autumn and winter because of the cold wind. I’m very happy with my black boots and next time, I think I’ll get me a brown pair.

And this is me in my attempts of looking like a yummy mummy. I actually got dressed up to go veggie shopping! LOL

It will be awhile before you get to see me full length again – I feel like a sack of potatoes on matchsticks! It sort of makes me think…..how effective and safe is phenteripped? I might just check it out one of these days….

The scent of a workplace

To me, every smell can be associated to one thing or another. Certain perfumes remind me of people who wear them, certain air fresheners reminds me of the places I’ve been and the cleaning stuff they use, etc.

But ever since I started working in Sydney, there is only one smell that smells like a workplace…an office. And that scent is – burnt toast.

Yup, burnt toast and coffee – these 2 combined would be the scent of an office and even if you could bottle it, you wouldn’t be able to make a buck! You’d be lucky if someone would take it of you. Every morning, this scent will surround us like a fog and bear down on me. By not being a fan of coffee machine coffee, that scent actually makes me sick. Pity I dont drink cappucino coz they actually have a coffee machine in the kitchen downstairs. So, tell me….what scents remind you of what/who?
