On Saturday, we went down to Parramatta River to check out the Thai Festival or Loy Krathong. I was so looking forward to taking home my absolute favourite sticky rice with mango dessert that the Thais are most famous for. Sadly, not only did I not get to buy it, what turned out to be a nice day for Arianna, ended up a little devastating on her part that is.

Anyway, we arrived there about 5.30pm and it was already rather crowded. Seeing that our dinner is normally about 6pm, I told Ted that I’ll go line up and get the food for Arianna since we had our dinner at home and I knew that Arianna will be running around later. So I got into line or what I thought was a queue and waited. And waited and waited. :/ The line wasnt moving but there was a lot of people behind the counter. There was SO many people to serve and I dare say that it was really poorly manned. I mean, after so many years of having this festival, you’d think that they’d know well enough to ensure that there was enough people to help out!

So geram only…so I left since it was pointless of me to get into another line and wait. Was a good thing I left too, KR was already crying and Ted was carrying her. Thankfully Arianna was good up until she was running around and then it was time to go home. THAT is another story on my baby blog..

We didn’t stay long enough to watch them release those tiny rafts but I think it would have looked nice. The last time I came to one of these was in 2006. It was so much better then. They had this little petting animal corner, a guy who was playing on glass bottles and huge jumping castles for the kids but not this time though. Hopefully it will be better next year, minus the dramas.

The one thing I hate living out here is that whenever a friend or a family member is getting married, chances are that we would not be able to attend unless we were told way, way in advance and also if we are able to afford it when the time came to fork out the dough for the tickets. We have to bear in mind that when we travel, I normally go down first with the kids, then Ted will follow later on just so I get to spend more time with Mum and Sis. For this to happen, my sis will normally come out here with me OR she will fly back with me, depending on the circumstances.

So, this November, I’ll be missing 2 peoples wedding. One is my cousin’s wedding and another is an old college friend. Both also I’m rather close to but we can’t just up and leave coz sad to say, we dont own a money tree and even if we did, with the summer heat these days, very hard to stay alive. O well, what can one do right? I meant to ask them where they were going for their honeymoon coz I wanted to tell them NOT to go to Pangkor Swiss Garden. I regretted it! Perhaps I should suggest some exotic hotel like santo domingo hotels?

Heck, I think any place would be better than where we went to!

My sis recently got herself a new laptop. She is absolutely hooked on those silly games/applications on FB. I know how addictive they can be because at one point, I was darn hooked on a couple of word games and omg, it can really rule your day if you’re not careful!

Anyway, the reason why she had to get a new laptop was because she fried her laptop memory. I have no idea how she did it but apparently, she will be very busy this week and maybe the next installing all her weird programs that she uses for her studies. I bet she is too busy playing games than to do what is more important…*sigh* That girl doesn’t prioritise properly!

You just gotta love the internet these days. Other than the fact that you can pretty much get any sort of information you want, you can get loads of anything that you can think of too! I love the fact that it is a platform for many networking sites that help me keep in touch with my family despite me living so far away from them. You know, it has even help some of my friends decide on their insurance premiums based on some term life insurance comparisons that they were looking at.

I told them that they had to sit down and search up many types to see what was best for them. After all, money is tight for everyone now and you really need something that you can afford to continuously pay. So, see why you just gotta love the net?

Taking up space

As much as I appreciate the many, many, MANY free directories that are left literally at our unit’s doorstep, you’d think that it would end at some point, right? But apparently, this is not the case. Normally the street directory and phone directory come out in the end of the year for the coming new year but we seem to get them throughout the year!

It’s really is a waste of space and how many of us REALLY use these directories? I personally would prefer using the internet to look up phone numbers and maps but heck, that’s just me.
