Many of you may not know this unless you have been keeping tabs of what is happening on one of Australia’s most watched reality TV shows, but one of our own, a Malaysian may well be Australia first MasterChef!! This is mainly a journey for amatuer chefs around the nation trying to win the big one which is being the 1st Aussie MasterChef, $100k cash and to publish their own cook book.

Poh, having come over to Australia when she was 9 is one of the 2 finalists. She was knocked out earlier but the judges seeing that she had potential, brought her back in half way through the game and now, she’s got a chance at the big win. If she does win, I’m not surprised because she is creative and imaginative. She’s come up with techniques which are really impressive. One of the is fried meringue which I thought was impossible but she pulled if off - clever girl! And being an artist by profession, her creativeness and imagination is not surprising at all. I am certainly looking forward to catching the final tomorrow.

I hope she wins coz I think she’s really good plus, its nice to see kakilang win la! Wonder if she will be conferred the Datuk title if she wins…. It remains to be seen, eh?

Who would have thought that 3 months would fly by so fast?? Mum left for Penang last night and I still can’t believe that it’s been 3 months since she first came to visit.

I’ve grown so used to having her around that I suddenly feel this sense of feeling so lost and so bored from the minute I woke up this morning. I’m so used to hearing her voice trying to keep Arianna quiet coz Ted and I are normally still in bed when Mum and Arianna wakes up. Then I also already miss her cooking and most of all, I’m missing the silly chats and talks that we have throughout the day. Not to mention that an extra pair of hands is a Godsend when you need some time out. Although I do have Ted more often at home these days, nothing is the same with Mum, it’s just different.

Surprisingly, Arianna didn’t really notice that Nanna has gone home but on a sad note, after all that running around in the airport and a rather cold and chilly night, she is having a cough now. I am a little worried abt it so we will have it checked out tomorrow first thing in the morning.

Going back to when Mum was around….she has pretty much help me organise my home to look a little neater than it was. I have to add that I’m really not good at keep my home neat and tidy and I’m not proud about it either. I think it’s a little sad and sometimes wish that I was some sort of a neat freak like my sis. But alas, it is not to be. Anyway, Mum seeing that I have a bigger balcony compare to my previous place, decided that we should have a small veggie and herb garden and that is what I got.

After about 2 years of having a ‘lifeless’ balcony, we now have a tiny veggie and herb garden and this was what Ted had wanted to do at our previoud place but we never got around to doing it. But it’s now here to stay…

It’s a really tiny spot at the end of our balcony and out of reach for tiny hands to dig at the dirt. Also, seeing that I am no gardener, this is more than enough for me to handle. If only I can remember to water these plants!

Tiny hands in positiong to wreck havoc with the dirt. She didn’t make a big mess but once is more than enough.

If you’re wondering what we have planted, well it’s rosemary, sage pineapple, mint leaves and pak choy. And at the side is our existing aloe vera plant which Mum repotted for us before she left. This little patch has really given life to our balcony and I’m glad Mum suggested this and got it up and running for us. I really hope that I can keep them all alive. Wonder if we can train Arianna to water the plants for us…without pulling the plants out first!!

It’s been our dream to design and build our own home but when times are tough, such dreams have to be put on hold. My dream home would be a nice, cozy home with a medium size garden or compound big enough for the kids to run around and of course, it will definitely have a pool - for Ted. With the economy this bad, one option would be to get one of those mobile homes. Apparently these are homes where it is entirely built in the factory then transported to the site and installed. Pretty cool eh, don’t you think?

Praise the gambling gods….thank you for this blessing!! I don’t know where to start my plans about using up all this money!!! Might as well list down what I can do.

1. Get rid of our home mortgage and credit debt!!

2. Pack up and move back to Kulim! Buy that double piece of land in nearby my Mum and build a medium size house with a large pool so that Ted can be ‘maharaja taman’. We’ll most likely have the ONLY pool in that area anyway.

3. Donate approximately $60 million to charity and $1 million goes to my church for upkeep and renovations.

4. Plan a trip around the world for mum, sis and the 4 of us. Needless to say we will travel 1st class all the way.

5. Get my animal sanctuary up and running - it has been a lifelong dream for me.

6. And based on the balance after all that spending, give a few mils to mum and to sis. The rest goes into the bank and we just live on the interest.

Awesome right??? But first I need to win it la. I’m sure many in Malaysia may not know this but upcoming OzLotto which will be drawn on Tuesday [30/6] has come up to a massive $90 million which is the BIGGEST and HIGHEST amount a lotto has ever drawn up on record.

Hence you gotta be in it to win it right? Will let you know when I win it on Wednesday so that all these dreams can come true but for now, I’ll continue my dreams…. What would you do with $90M?

The funny thing is that when you do win such a huge prize, I think one would be lost at how to even begin spending it. I have to add that the lottery prize wins here are tax-free. Cool eh? If I won such a huge prize money, I’d so want to remain anonymous because of several reasons but the main one being that you will be the target of every robber nation-wide! And quoting someone who commented at the news site, ‘If I won $90M, I’d have relatives I never knew about knocking at my door!’. *lol* I thought that was funny….anyways, we’ll see come Tuesday people!

*lol* I’m sure there are many pronunciation for this ranging from cucur kodok to jemput-jemput [Southern slang] to my very own, chokodok [Northern slang]. In the end, they all mean the same thing = mashed banana fritters, or at least I think that is what it is once translated.

If I’ve not mentioned it before, Arianna loves bananas. She calls them ‘nanna’ which funnily enough also sounds very much like Nana, my mum. Anyway, this was the first time she had them and when mum makes anything, needless to say, it was a hit…I’ll let these pix speak for themselves.

What is this brown thingy?

Chokodok autopsy/inspection in progress

Inspection pass - time to taste test.

Verdict - BEST!!!

For the fun of it and in case I forget, this is the recipe :

Ingredients :
2 [big] bananas [coz here all big2 one]
5 tablespoons of self-raising flour
3 tablespoons of sugar
1 egg

Method :
1. Mash the bananas
2. Add all other ingredients in and mix well.
3. Heat up a pan of oil and drop in balls of the mix.
4. Cook till golden brown, remove and drain excess oil.
5. EAT!!!
