I love lovity love these two girls. Always full of smiles and ready to flash those big beautiful eyes at my camera like pros. And, well, they are indeed professional models…. published and legit. It isn’t hard to see why, is it?

And just 571 days (1 year, 6 months, and 25 days) earlier than the slideshow pictures…..

Only 941 days before those slideshow photos, Joey was doing her modeling gigs solo. Really. That’s just 2 years, 6 months, and 30 days.

It’s impressive and crazy how quickly little people march on toward their future adult selves, isn’t it?

You, my little friend, have grown like a gorgeous little weed since our first photo shoot not so very long ago. You weren’t so sure about me and my camera that day in Golden Gate Park, were you?

But now, you’re the queen of spunk and personality- full of bright smiles and rambunctious energy. And suddenly just as engaging and easy to talk to as your mother. An instant friend.

I’m a sucker for a kid masquerading as a bear. Or a kangaroo. In fact, pretty much any animal suit wearing kid wins the prize for hipness in my book.

Last year, Donovan pulled off his bear wear so well that I couldn’t help myself and bought this kangaroo suit in hopes of convincing his parents to get him to wear it for his next round of photos. If you check out the slideshow, you’ll notice that he wasn’t particularly in love with the idea at first. But he came around eventually and even took a stroll in public to show it off.

I’m such a big fan of kids in animal costumes that I’m creating a kid photo contest. Fun! More info on that coming soon….

What a great spot for a photo shoot! I absolutely love taking my dog out for long hikes around here, so I’m not sure why it took me so long to realize what an amazing backdrop Lake Lagunitas would make for portraits. And there’s no better time than now- the rivers and waterfalls are flowing full speed and the hills are a beautiful vibrant green.

And I always have a great time hanging out with Jackson, Monica, and their fabulous entourage!

Daniel’s Photo Shoot | Little Mr. Stylish

Sure, he seemed to be having fun during our photo shoot. But he’s a busy man. He’s got an entire world to learn about. So he took a little break from the shoot to study one of his favorite books in his oh-so-stylish rocking chair.

I absolutely loved taking these photos in Daniel’s room. Obviously, he’s incredibly cute and happy and that’s always enough to make me smile. But on top of just being really fun to hang out with, Daniel has style (ok, well…. Daniel’s very stylish mom should probably get some of the credit). Look at that rocking chair! Functional and good looking- the perfect combination.

I have very fond memories of the rocking chair my mom and dad used to lull me to sleep in. Many dreamy nights began with the warmth of a good shoulder and the combined rhythm of my mom’s gentle pat on my back and the squeak the chair made with every rock. It was a good chair- comfortable, well worn, well loved. But pretty it was not. Ok, to be fair, I’m sure it looked great when my grandmother gave it to my mom the year my oldest sister was born. But then there was an unfortunate upholstery decision involving a brown lightning bolt pattern fabric (which was about as flattering for the chair as the home perms my mom gave me once in a while after convincing me that this time I would look like the girl on the perm box instead of a poodle). So it’s nice to see that the design world is taking it up a notch with furniture that makes both moms and kids happy. You spend almost as much time in your baby’s room as he does, after all. And moms deserve dreamy nights too.

Daniel’s mom has style. And I love well designed spaces. So I’m really excited about a little side project I’m working on (or will be as soon as I have the time). But first, I have to dig out of the avalanche of editing that needs to be done for my holiday photo shoots. Once I’m caught up and have a chance to breathe again, I’ll be adding some details. But right this minute, it’s back to editing!

Some of you may have read a book or two written by my sister, Michelle Richmond, the little bundle in my mom’s arms.

That’s my dad. And me. And yes, I agree, that is a very good look for him.
