Admiring and worshiping your idol is quite normal for kids, teens and some grown-ups who are still kids. While it can also be religious for some people, it’s also an addiction that could turn into deep obsession. If you know someone who’s got an unhealthy obsession with a celebrity, watch out because it might just turn deadly. Here are four true stories about fans and how they have brought death into their lives.

1. Fan’s Father Killed Himself

To support his daughter’s dream, Yang Qingji and his wife spent all their money and savings including selling off their house in China. Yang supported his daughter’s dream to meet her idol, Andy Lau, a famous Hong Kong artist to the extent of even selling one of his kidneys but was refused as the act is illegal.

His daughter, Yang Lijuan, 28 year-old dreamt of Andy Lau 13 years ago and has since became his huge fan. She was obsessed with Andy Lau and even quitted school to chase after her dream of meeting him one day and to tell him how much she loves him.

When Lijuan finally has a chance to meet her idol with the help of Andy’s fan club in Hong Kong, Lijuan ended up being disappointed at the outcome of her brief meeting with Andy. She only managed to take a picture with Andy and a few minutes of interaction with him along with other fans. She wanted a conversation instead but her dream did not come true.

Yang could not accept the result of her daughter’s brief meeting with Andy and was despaired. Leaving a twelve page long letter to Andy – holding Andy responsible, Yang ended his life by drowning himself while wife and daughter were asleep.

2. Fan Killed Fan

During a Korn concert in Atlanta two years ago, a fan was beaten to death by two other fans. The 30 year-old man went to the concert with his pregnant girlfriend and their mentally challenged kid. Andy Richardson asked the other two Korn fans to watch out for the woman and the kid and to not push too hard. Words were exchanged but the fans withdraw and waited for Richardson outside the venue.
They attacked Richardson from behind, pushed him, knocked him down and smashed his head on the sidewalk. A friend said that Richardson’s face was all covered with blood and he became unconscious. Richardson was rushed to the hospital but he never regained consciousness. He was later declared brain dead and passed away soon after.

In a separate incident, Rapper Nelly’s concert ended up in violence when a fan was killed at the concert in Southern California after being stabbed by two other fans.

3. Fan Killed Idol

John Lennon was at the height of his career and fame when he was shot to death by an estranged fan. Lennon was shot four times outside the building where he stayed with his wife Yoko Ono.
Moment before he was shot, he was surrounded by fans seeking autograph; among them were the killer, Mark David Chapman.

After signing the autograph for Chapman, Lennon asked him, “Is this all you want?” Chapman nodded and they snapped a photo together. Lenon then proceed to the Record Plan studio and return home several hours later. Chapman waited for Lennon since he left. As they enter the building, Chapman called out, “Mr. Lennon!” Lennon turned around, and Chapman shot Lennon five times with one shot missed and hit a window of the Dakato building. The other four shot caused serious internal damage to Lennon. Lennon staggered up six steps to the reception area, said, “I’m shot,” and collapsed.

Chapman then removed his coat and hat, and calmly sat down on the sidewalk while waiting for the police arrival. The doorman who called the police shouted at Chapman, “Do you know what you’ve done?” Chapman replied, “Yes, I just shot John Lennon.” When the police arrived, Chapman had dropped the revolver to the ground, and was holding a book instead. The book that inspired him to kill Lennon – J.D.Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye.”

4. Truck Driver Killer Fan

While waiting for her idol, Justin Timberlake outside station KIIS-FM at Burbank, California, Anne White was killed by a drunk driver.

According to the report, the pickup truck driver, Cameron Duty had been arguing with some of the two dozen Timberlake fans on the sidewalk outside the station. White was not one of them. Duty was angry and intentionally backed his vehicle into the crowd, pinning White under his truck, and eventually dragged White for a block before she fell into the street.

He was caught later and charged with murder, leaving the scene of an accident, and drunk driving.

You heard enough about AK-47 on news, games and movies, but how well do you know this deadly weapon? Be an instant AK-47 assault rifle expert.

Tech Spec

Capable of firing 600 rounds per minute on fully automatic. This would empty the magazine in three seconds.

30-round curved box magazine, containing 7.62mm x 39 mm M1943 cartridge rounds

Loaded Weight: 4.876kg

Effective Range: 300m

Length: 870mm

The History

The Kalashnikov assault rifle was invented by Mikhail Kalashnikov, who was a tank commander against the Nazis until he was wounded in October 1941. During his stay in the hospital, he designed a machine gun that could be mass-produced for Russian soldiers. It went into production in 1947.
Where to get?

The AK-47 was the original. Recent models are just modification of the initial design. Second-hand AK-47s can still be picked up on the black market and are in use in wars across the world.
Over 100 million Kalashnikov assault rifles have been distributed worldwide. It has made it into 55 national armies. It is also the weapon of choice for guerilla and terrorist groups, due to its sturdy reliability and the availability of black market parts.

How much?
Prices for black-market guns vary. A new AK-47 will cost you $250 in Russia. A Chinese built weapon will cost $100. Second hand AKs in Baghdad cost just $10!

Who Made The AK-47?

Four years ago, Mikhail Kalashnikov, now 87, joined a German company to design more products branded with his name – including umbrella, aftershave and of course Vodka Kalashnikov.
