I find this product convenient particularly for touch ups. No need to carry a mirror, pot of rouge and brush in order to create a perfect natural flush in the middle of the day, this product is all you need. The 01 Vibrant Rose shade is medium pink with subtle silver shimmers. In the container, the blush looks like a bright shade of pink but goes on natural pink when applied. Apply by dabbing the sponge on the apples of cheeks and blend the blush after using a finger (or brush) to give a natural effect. Though the blush contain shimmers, it being subtle makes it wearable during the day just giving the cheeks a healthy glow.

The shade I got is 01 Pink Cream which is a light neutral pink with shimmers with a yummy fruity scent. Product is not pigmented and more on the clear side but can be layered on top of a darker shade lipstick to soften the color or worn alone for a healthy plumped looking lips. I like how my lips feel softer after an application and no flakes of dry skin when applied again.

I'm not particular of the smell but definitely a staple in my kikay kit. The shimmering coral is more on the warm side orange peach shade giving a natural flush on the cheeks and a boost of color on the lips.. perfect for summer. The color is sheer and on my fair skin I sometimes layer it because it doesn't come out of my desired effect. A good thing though for other lip and cheek tints when applied just a wee bit above the right amount, produces a clown/bruised appearance. :P Unlike other lip and cheek tints, this have subtle shimmers. Yes its my first time to see shimmers on a tint, lol. It may benefit those people who love using cheek tint and adding highlighter/shimmer powder afterwards.

I prefer using this product wet/foiled due to its pigmentation. Really easy to blend with minimal eyeshadow fall out. Not chalky at all. I actually find this product of high quality, reminds me a lot of MAC Mineralized eyeshadows.

The Body Shop conducted an event last Feb 26, 2010 to showcase the Spring Trend Makeup for 2010. I decided not to miss this event as I really want to try their makeup line plus my girls who I’ve not seen for a long time will be there. I tried TBS skin care and makeup products before but I find them average so I seldom visit the store whenever I’m in a mall. Held at Glorietta 3 Makati, it gave opportunity to all beauty bloggers to interact with each other while doing their fave thing: putting on makeup! The activity “Create Your Spring Look using The Body Shop Nature's Colours Collection!” showed the creativity of each participant including me as each created a spring look.  I had fun as I was able to use their products and what do you know, I totally love them.

Barbie pink shade lipsticks are IN right now. I'm not usually the girl who falls prey on current trends but with this, I'm going to make an exception. Bright pink = Jamie. Its love. When the beautynomist announced her contest for minute maid fresh look, I already had something in mind. Long before this, I browsed the net for makeup ideas and fell in love with one conveying “fresh”..it was perfect. Though I wasn’t able to submit an entry for the contest –blame it on the busy sched, I like to share with you guys what I had in mind. With a few tweaks here and there, it came out nice but not my idea of fresh. Its still fun though!

Inside My Kikay Kit: Charm Luxe Retractable Kabuki

When I was in college, my friends made fun of my bag and what’s inside it (Came from a school of mostly guys). They often call it “The Big Kikay/Vanity Bag” and it’s true I can’t fit my makeup items in a normal size makeup bag so I use my whole bag. The only school related things inside it are a pen and a piece of paper and that is if I remember to bring those items. Lol. I recall bringing a lot of makeups plus 3 long handled brushes. Funny reminiscing those days. Right now, my kikay kit is 3x smaller than what I’m used to before. I now bring only the things I actually need cuz I found the perfect items for my kikay kit. One of it is the Charm Luxe Retractable Kabuki brush.

What I love about it:
- The size is just perfect for my kikay kit. Not to much length that can be placed almost anywhere even a small pouch!
- Need I say more about the color? Pink is my favorite color. Its really cute
- This is the only retractable brush I find soft. I didn’t consider getting a retractable brush before after being dismayed of a few failed finds. Just too scratchy!
- A good powder brush.
- Synthetic.
- The cover keeps the brush dirt free.
- Handy
- Does not shed at all..even when washing.

What I hate about it:
- No reasons to hate as it performs well to what I intend it to be, a powder brush! Not a foundation brush for me though.

This is the perfect kit brush for me. I use mac msf natural for retouch and the brush just puts the right amount of product on my face, not making it look cakey or unnatural. Easy to carry and the cover keeps it free from dirt when inside the cluttered kit with other makeup stuffs. What if I want to use this brush for mineral foundations? I prefer my mineral foundation brush stiff, really packed and dense so what I do if I’m truly desperate is I pull the handle up to the part where the white hairs of the brush are covered and voilah, a semi flat top brush!:P

Product Comparison: MAC peachstock to NYX

The dream of owning mac peachstock started when Jheng applied it on me, it was love. Though I've been eyeing it, the "on a budget", "cheaper alternative" and "will I be able to use" reasons always kept me from buying it. Not considering the fact that the next day when I went to mac they said its not available anymore and its only internationally available at mac pro stores which I dont have any access to, hehe. Anyways, read around for reviews and lot recommended some dupes. I decided to get nyx lippies in circe, honey and orange soda from user recommendations and they are really nice but stil not convince if they can compare to the real thing. Good thing a local ebay seller posted an ad for mac peachstock. You already know what I did next, teehee. I really love its shade and my lips seem to think that its not similar to the dupes. Here are pics for you girls to decide and compare, if it interests you. :D

Beauty finds from Saizen

Saizen (Daiso in Japan) is a popular Japanese store known by many beauty addicts for the much raved charcoal mask. Don’t confuse yourself with other Japanese stores such as Daiso and Japan Home Center because they are not the same, something I have learned after a few visits from the stores mentioned. Saizen is the largest Japanese store I have seen offering more products and far different from what the other Japanese stores offer. All items are priced at 85 pesos ($1.75 - $2) no matter of the size/weight. First time I went to the place, I got excited and quickly looked for the Beauty section and spent most of the time there - I tell you its not easy to find. Most of the items are low-priced with great quality but I found some (really few small items) that should cost a lot cheaper. Maybe they could have made it 2 for 88 pesos, you think? But considering everything else in the store, its nothing. I could have gotten more stuffs that day but time didn't allow it so I just walked away with the following beauty finds:

Charcoal Mask / Masque 80g

I use this as a nose pack and it does a decent job similar to pore strips. You have to put a lot of the product and wait for it to dry before removing it.

Charcoal Soap (Cleansing agent) mixing 120g

Ingredients:

(All Component) Sodium Palmitate, Sodium Kernelate, Sodium Chloride, Fragrance, Charcoal Powder, Carbon Black, Vinegar, Bamboo Vinegar, Water, Tetrasodium Edta, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Pentasodium Pentetate, Polyquaternium-7

Face is still suffering from effects of using Cyleina soap that I’m hesitant to try this on me. Heard though that this is a good product for acne and oily skin.

Ellefar Peeling Gel (Massage Pack for Face) 50g

Ingredients

Water, Peg-8, Propylene Glycol, PVP, Glycerin, Cetrimonium Chloride, Triethanolamine, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Citrate, Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Kassou Ekisu, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol

This is my least favorite of all the products I got because it doesn’t work at par with the other peeling gels I’ve tried. I know this is really cheap compared to others but it doesn’t do much so it’s just a waste. If you want a cheap peeling gel that works, go for purederm.

Nose Shadow shadow & highlight 2g

Has few shimmers but not noticeable once applied for contour. I’m actually amazed of the product as it performs well considering its price tag. The pigmentation is lighter than eye shadow /eye brow powders and its not powdery when applied making it a perfect contouring tool. I use this on my fair skin and it looks natural. It’s warm in shade similar to Make Up For Ever Contour palette rather than MAC sculpt and shape (more of cool shade). *I only mean similar when it comes to shade/tone and not to its quality, performance, etc.

Self-Adhesive Magnet 20mm 35pcs

Perfect for the MAC 15 eyeshadow palette – pro palette. Just the right size and thickness for the pan making it fit on the palette. I got a different magnet from another Japanese store and it’s too thick.

coastalscents 28 neutral palette: a neutral look

I didn’t like the coastal scents 28 neutral palette before thanks to my “expensive-makeups-are-better” mentality and how its powdery but browsing around some blogs made me wonder. It’s not actually the 28 neutral palette I saw for their eotd application but the 88 coastalscents warm palette. If this product can show up pigmented and beautifully on pictures maybe the 28 neutral palette can achieve the same thing - excluding of course the idea that the bloggers are just skilled, hehe. Yes, I opened again my dust collecting palette and played around. With the right eye base, the eye shadows of the 28 neutral palette does a job well done.

i only played around so decided to use a cheap brown eyeliner. after using the eyelash curler, some of the liner faded. thank heavens for urban decay and prestige!!

How to bleach eyebrows

Everyone must take note that when coloring hair, brow bleach is a must! Browsing my old pictures from the days I have really light colored hair (3x lighter of what I have now) with no knowledge of brow bleach made me realize the importance of it. Let’s just say dark brows with light hair is not flattering. And now that my hair is back from the black hair phase, Sally Hansen crème bleach for hair is always handy. Note that I don’t recommend this to anyone as they say its not safe to do it on your own and its better to have it done by professionals. BUT if you are really certain, just be fully responsible and read instructions carefully. *wink*.

How about if you’re scared to have the brows bleached? A brow set/wax/light pencil will do the trick!;)

So here goes..

LIGHTENING EYEBROWS

Note: some may be allergic to it so make sure to follow the skin patch test on the leaflet included.

after sometime color will go back to the normal shade so its a good idea to bleach again

Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach Bleach for Face is the only product I know for this.

If you have other product recommendation please let me know. Its around 350+php (around $7)

In the kit: activator, bleach, spatula and mixing tray

for 1/4 teaspoon of the activator, mix 1/2 teaspoon of the bleach

apply mixture to brows making sure that hairs are well covered

After a few mins (3-5mins) check the color. If its still dark wait for 2mins and check again.

I usually leave the prod for 10mins (I already know that it will result to my desired shade)

after achieving the desired shade, tissue off the product then wash the brows.

and your done!

In Store Launch of Olay Micro-Sculpting Cream

In the past years Olay Philippines kept bringing our local market breakthrough products -think the favorite Total Effects 7 Daily Moisturizer which I remembered getting one. Now a new Super cream hits store shelves. Adding to the Regenerist line, the internationally, multi-awarded Micro-sculpting cream had an in store launch last December 5, 2009 at SM makati with the presence of their spokeswomen Daphne Osena-Paez and Angel Aquino.

Milani Eyeshadows in Java Bean and Flare

Most make up gurus suggest nyx and milani as good and cheap eye shadow brands. They have been always compared with MAC. I was able to try Nyx first. Although their lip products are up to par if not more to my standards, the eyeshadows are just so so for me. Good thing I was able to get me some milani, a hope for everyone in search for a cheap e/s. Heard it was discontinued though, so better go to ebay and grab yourself some!

Remember last year when mcdonald's released the limited edition Olympic coke glasses? I'm one of the unfortunate few who learned the news much later that it was already out of stock. The fact that you cannot have a certain item some people are lucky to get makes you want it more badly. That's what I felt. On the plus side, its really cute. I almost got one before but on the last minute someone claimed the glass..yes..i just saw it on the table. Hehe..Talk about desperation! So the moment I saw the poster of the colorful coke glasses displayed in mcdee's, I decided to get them all. Don't worry I didn't eat 6 meals in just one day, it took two days with 2 people purchasing for me. And only one was forced..teehee.:) Got me an extra glass for actual use as I find the complete set better for display. Little cute things make me happy..literally! and the colors are just candies to my eyes.

Purchased this palette together with the 42 double stack matte palette. Lil me wanted the 42 matte palette better but the tempting thoughts..that this goes with the matte and what i'll be missing. well why not!

- easy to blend but i don't like how it looks after sometime (opacity/pigmentation fades)

Overall:
A good palette to play around with but for me its a NO. I first thought i love this palette as much as the matte but as soon as I saw that the colors/pigmentation fades when I blend the shadows, i was wrong. It works well with other brands so its worth keeping. So should you buy it? I suggest you first get the matte palette. This is similar to the 120 palette in terms of the effect after blending. I like the shimmer palette better than the 120 palette in terms of the texture/colors but I find the 120 palette a more worth it product as it includes a lot of colors.

Was browsing around my files and came across some old shots i took of the kikay pinay months ago as my model for a makeup class. Really thankful to her that day for it was a really rush decision on her part.

the topic for that day is more of a colorful loud fashion look but i cant let shen go out like that. i opt for something just a little wearable (and they say I'm a good follower student..geesh)

-a true matte eyeshadow palette (yes its all matte)
-really really pigmented (better with an eyeshadow primer)
-not chalky
-hard compared to other palettes that breaks easily
-price is reasonable (got this for 1000php ($20-22) which is ok because I got the product the next day)
-eyeshadows on the pan gives the same color when applied
-Blendable (unlike some palettes that blending will cause the applied eyeshadow to lose much of its intensity/pigmentation ), doesnt turn muddy
-Blushes are nice and shows up well but a little powdery (coming from a girl who's not into light blushes e.g benefit dandelion,mac pink swoon, etc). its pigmented so don't worry

Rants:
-needs more eyeshadow colors
-Blushes are all shimmers
-eyeshadow fall out happens
-brushes included could be better
-needs eyeshadow base(its not an issue for me cuz i always use a base no matter what)
-could be better when it comes to blending
Overall:
I can honestly say I love this palette more than the 120 palette, 88 palette, 28palette, elianto, nyx,etc. Its just a wee bit below mac cuz of the fall outs, texture (i love the veluxe formula) and mac a little better when it comes to blending but other than that it gives great color payoff if not better (for some mac e/s). I'm really picky when it comes eyeshadows that I tend to use mac all the time for events,gigs,etc. With this palette, I know I can achieve a lot of looks for pro works.

And its back. The colored hair. Teehee. I feel like my old true self again. The blue black hair may have worked for me when it was still long but now, its just not flattering. Well, maybe I'm just bored that I need a new color. David's Salon Ruby Road branch (near Emerald Ave) is where I get most of my hair treatments done. They did a great job considering that its hard to color a hair from black to something that is really light. I like it and it gives the same color as when I bleach my brows. I will stick with this color, lets see for how long.;)

Why?
Tested it the whole day and its really comfortable. I really didnt feel the bra clip/converter on my back. No straps showing! Plus its just 250php for 3 pcs. Much better than buying a bra to serve the same purpose.
