IRIS – City Lights EP

Night time in the city is usually defined by three things, people wandering from place to place, the noise of traffic and music and the visual rhythm of lights. IRIS makes his debut on MK837 with his City Lights EP – a bristling journey through the landscape of a city at night. This seven track ep comes packed with remixes by Antonio Vendone, Dave Richards and Jarvis. This is definitely a must hear EP for those who love techno and house.

It was a hot summer in 2009. Kevin and Dave had spent months working on the line-up for that year’s Afterhours stage. It was the 25th anniversary of the Cornerstone Music Festival and everything had to be right. With 30 feet of video screen and several thousands of dollars in midi controlled lights, a dusty old barn on a farm was converted once again into a state of the art night club with one of the best sound systems money could buy. More than 800 people a night ebbed and flowed through the makeshift club each of the four nights. The line-up included Tim Richards, Joel Armstong, Brother Brooks, Kevin Oneel, Deeflash, Dave Richards, Dima, KriSand and more. It was a year to remember and out of this crucible, MK837 was born.

From then on there was no turning back, he was hooked into a life-long addiction to vinyl, clubs, and festival weekends. In 2001, he moved from local Bar DJ to city club DJ and met, studio and label owners, Baddudes. He then quickly found himself moving into the studio environment, it was here that he learned his skills and released his first vocal house track ‘Cant Wait’. This gave him afresh taste for music and sent him tumbling deeper into the world of production.
