* Yes everyone will get a “build in process” notification via email when we start working on your order

* We will confirm your shipping address at the same time or shortly thereafter in a separate email. I know people will be traveling for the holidays so this also serves as a opportunity for you to request a hold in the delivery if necessary. We will not ship unless we can get a confirmation from you regarding the shipping address.

* Momentum: We have been doing the advanced prep for the completion of the watches such as QC’ing bracelets. It is more efficient to spend a day or two QC’ing a bunch of bracelets rather than checking one bracelet at a time for each watch we finish. So it’s a bit frustrating for customers as well as ourselves as we would like to start getting the watches out the door again but this will pay dividends later. We are working pretty much every day of the week at this point and dedicating our time to production (as opposed to admin and correspondence.)

* Correspondence: Kindly be patient (well more than you already are with us regarding correspondence and admin…..personally I was finding that if I focused on emails and paperwork at the beginning of the day (planning to switch to watch work after it was completed) that it took over my work day leaving me with only 1-2 hours a day to actually get bench work done. So I have been dedicating myself to bench work and then turning to emails as little as possible.

Finally over the last 8 weeks we have returned to working a 6-7 day per week schedule. Most of this time in September and October was dedicated to organizing the parts for QC, doing test assemblies, and performing QC. Parts, such as case backs are rarely delivered in sequential order and one has to spend time cataloging all of the parts in order to confirm what’s in the boxes which can never be taken for granted, or sometimes understood. During this period of time we also performed test assemblies to check the fit and finish of the parts. So far the test assemblies have gone smoothly.

We had to perform QC on the 1003/1004 (black/gold) dials during this period before resuming deliveries because of the long lead times required if a re-order was necessary. For these dials the defect rate can vary widely from one purchase order to another and from one box to the next even within an order. We had to inspect enough of the dials to be reasonably sure we have enough to complete the delivery of the pre-orders, or if we did not have enough that we placed a new order ASAP so as to minimize delays, especially in light of the holidays at the end of the year. Fortunately it does not appear that we will need to re-order the dials and that we should have enough on hand to complete the pre-orders.

While I understand the importance of the updates they can be difficult to write because of the fast tempo of the work that we are performing. Each morning I wake up and I have to prioritize the day’s work often times based on new information or situations that arise. This kind of day-to-day existence takes time to summarize in a meaningful way. In the moment I make the best decision I can but without much thought to remembering why I made a given call on a given day. Other times you can be immersed in the QC and writing reports that you lose track of the time that has elapsed, which is moot anyway since it had to be completed.  More frequent updates would likely be counter productive since they would not provide enough context; like reading a book through a microscope. So for example this update took several hours to put together as I tried to piece together the how and why. I feel compelled to explain the lag between updates because I want to assure you it’s because of the volume of work rather than an insensitivity to customer needs for information.

Where we stand now:

* Working on completing Group 5 and will be starting on Group 6 soon. Parts for Group 6-8 have been picked, organized and prepped for assembly. Assuming no unanticipated issues arise we expect steady progress with regards to shipments.

* As for timetable…this is down to how much admin is required of us as we proceed. If we only had to assemble and ship watches it would be easy. We are reasonably sure that we can complete shipment of Groups 5 and 6 by year end. For the remaining groups we want to be completed as soon as possible before we have to travel for Baselworld in late March.

* With the exception of actually taking the day of Thanksgiving and Christmas off I will be working through the holidays (or as much of it as the family will allow). In short we will be pushing as hard as we can on shipments.

At Wind-Up, we will offer a small selection of our ready-to-wear lineup in hopes of somewhat defraying our cost of attending. Our goal is to get rare and valuable face time with customers both new and old, learn more about the retail process, and gain valuable experience for the future growth of Mk II. Ultimately we want to build Mk II for the long run, to leverage our strengths and improve our weaknesses. Wind-Up NYC is a step on the journey towards that vision.

• Pre-order shipments will begin this week. Don’t know when quite yet this week but it will be this week. Thanks for your patience.
• General Ordering: This will open in the next week or so. Please note that these new orders will ship after the pre-orders so you can expect shipment sometime in November.

General orders: General ordering will open at the end of next week (on or about the 12th of October.) This is so that we can, as best we can, keep the pre-order customer orders separate from the general ordering customers’ orders for scheduling purposes.

• Ordering pages are ready and have been tested (more time consuming than one might expect ; – same goes for the testing of the coupon codes)
• The coupon codes you need are ready and have been tested. At this point I just need to write and send the ordering email
• Rubber straps have arrived and have been QC’d. They are good to go.
• Timing QA of the first batch of watches has been completed.
• We still have to QC the bezel inlays. If all goes as expected deliveries should begin by the middle of October.
• Our estimate at this point is that we should be able to open ordering for the pre-order customers within the next 7 days.
• If we have to make the ordering page public to everyone at the same time the lead times posted on the ordering page will not apply to pre-order customers (see below)

General order customers:

• Please note that your orders will begin shipping after the pre-order customer watches have been delivered.
• General ordering is expected to open in about 1-2 weeks. The lead times posted on the ordering page will apply to the General Order customers and not the pre-order customers.
• At this time we expect that we will make the ordering pages private for the Pre-order customers for about 1 week so that we can get their selections in and keep everything organized. We don’t want General Order customers mixed in with the Pre-order customers as it will unnecessarily complicate scheduling.

* We are still deciding when to open up ordering since it will take a few weeks to get the pre-orders out the door. In any event we will send an email out to anyone on the mailing list.
