O EXPRESSO, em parceria com a Comissão Nacional da UNESCO (CNU) e o Gabinete para os Meios de Comunicação Social (GMCS), lançou, a 3 de maio, o Prémio Expresso de Jornalismo – Jovens Talentos.

Subordinado ao tema “O papel dos media na vida das pessoas”, este prémio pretende descobrir e promover as capacidades e o talento de jovens no domínio do jornalismo, incentivando-os a realizar trabalhos, cuja qualidade e interesse jornalísticos possam vir a ser publicamente reconhecidos e divulgados.

Podem concorrer jovens portugueses, ou residentes em Portugal, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 25 anos, completados até 31 de dezembro de 2011. Não podem exercer ou possuir qualquer título habilitante da atividade jornalística, mas deverão frequentar um curso de comunicação social ou jornalismo em que o estágio (curricular) faça parte integrante do mesmo.

Os trabalhos podem ser apresentados em texto escrito, infografia, registo áudio e/ou vídeo, podendo ser coletivos, desde que em tais circunstâncias sejam indicados os respetivos co-autores.

A apresentação de candidaturas decorre de 3 maio a 30 de setembro de 2012, devendo ser feita através do e-mail premiojornalismoexpresso@unesco.pt.

“Encontra-se aberto concurso para um Contrato de Trabalho em Funções Públicas a Termo Certo, para equiparado a técnico superior do  Gabinete de Apoio à Investigação dos Serviços Partilhados da Universidade de Lisboa, ao abrigo do Decreto-Lei nº 125/99, de 20 Agosto.

Habilitações Académicas: Licenciatura (sem área de formação específica).

Coordenação do Núcleo UL Inovar ao qual compete, designadamente:

Local de trabalho:

BOLSA DE INVESTIGAÇÃO

Aceitam-se candidaturas a uma Bolsa de Investigação (BI), a atribuir no âmbito do projeto de

investigação A personalização da política no Século XX – um projecto de pesquisa sobre as eleições democráticas (PTDC/CPO/120295/2010), financiado pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) e em curso no Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa, sob a coordenação da Doutora Marina Costa Lobo.

1 – Legislação aplicável: Lei n.º 40/2004, de 18 de Agosto, e Regulamento de Bolsas do Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa.

2 – Coordenação do Projeto: Doutora Marina Costa Lobo.

7 – Requisitos de admissão: Mestrado em Ciência Política, Sociologia, outras Ciências Sociais ou afins.

São ainda requisitos preferenciais:

a) Formação e experiência em técnicas quantitativas de pesquisa, nomeadamente o uso de SPSS.

b) Experiência de trabalho em investigação científica e em trabalho de equipa;

c) Domínio da língua inglesa;

d) Interesse em fazer doutoramento na área temática do projeto.

I. Types of scholarship and who shall apply

   It is granted to excellent international students who will apply for Master / Doctor degree program in USST
2. Type B (partial scholarship)

Applicants pursuing Bachelor’s degree should hold High School degree diploma or the equivalent and should be under the age of 25, and the applicant can only apply for Type B or Type C scholarships. Applicants pursuing Doctor’s degree should hold Master degree diploma or the equivalent and should not be under the age of 40.
3. The applicants should have excellent academic records.

VI. About Visa for Study in China and Registration Formalities of scholarship Winner

1. Visa for study in China
   The winners of Scholarship type A and type B who directly come to Shanghai from abroad should apply for the student visa (for students who will study for over 6 months, “X” visa should be applied) to the Chinese embassy or consulate in their country with original and copy of Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202), Foreigner Physical Examination Form, Scholarship Award Notice and valid passport.
2. Registration
   If any scholarship winner fails to register within the time limit without the permission of the institution, he/she will be regarded as giving up the admission and the scholarship.
3. Health certificate and residence permit
   Students with scholarship should bring along Foreigner Physical Examination Form and go to the Shanghai Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau International Travel Health Center for verification. If they do not have health verification from the center, they should take physical examination till they receive a Health Certificate from the said center. Anyone who refuse the physical examination or enter China with certain diseases that will be rejected as regulated by the Chinese laws and regulations will be requested to leave China within limited days and the scholarship will be canceled accordingly. The relevant expense is on the said students. The lodging and living allowance funds from Scholarship A will be stopped from that month.

Students with scholarship should apply for the Residence Permit to the Exit-Entry Bureau of Shanghai Police Station within 30 days from the date they enter China.

A Escola Segunda Oportunidade constituiu-se em 2008, em Matosinhos,  e tem como objectivo promover a educação a jovens (entre os 16 e 25 anos) com baixas qualificações escolares e profissionais. Surgiu de uma parceria entrea AE20 – Associação para a Segunda Oportunidade, a Câmara Municipal de Matosinhos e a Direção Regional de Educação do Norte.

Entende-se como uma resposta diferenciadora, na medida que baseia-se nas necessidades, desejos e capacidades individuais, para trabalhar competências pessoais, sociais e vocacionais. Para tal tem um programa que combina a aquisição de competências sociais com a formação prática (culinária, carpintaria e costura são algumas das possibilidades). É, então, neste contexto, que os jovens procuram definir os seus projetos de vida.

É de salientar que esta escola é a única resposta para jovens que experienciaram a situação de abandono escolar em Portugal, sendo a que representa o país na rede europeia – E2C Europe. O trabalho desenvolvido pela organização já foi reconhecido nacional e internacionalmente através de prémios.

Contudo, foi comunicado a esta organização que o protocolo estabelecido com a Câmara Municipal de Matosinhos no qual consta a atribuição de uma verba, será anulado, devido a uma nove lei (Lei 8 de 2012). Tal implicará o fecho da escola, uma vez que o funcionamento desta depende deste valor. Ou seja, a apenas três meses do final do ano letivo, não será possível concluir o trabalho desenvolvido com cerca de 40 jovens. Que se irão deparar, mais uma vez, com uma rutura nos seus percursos pessoal e profissional.

Para impedir que tal aconteça, os jovens e a equipa de acompanhamento solicitam apoio para dar continuidade a este projeto.

Assim, apelam o apoio de toda a comunidade para ajudar a partilhar este problema e a encontrar uma solução.

“The programme addresses pressing global issues of sustainability, climate change, development, peacebuilding, and human rights through an innovative interdisciplinary approach that integrates the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The programme is intended for recent graduates, professionals, and practitioners, offering the unique opportunity to study at a global university within the framework of the United Nations. It provides students with the knowledge and skills to make important contributions towards solving global issues, whether through employment by UN agencies, otherinternational organizations, governments, civil society, or the private sector.

The programme is practically oriented, user-focused, and of the highest academic quality. It offers opportunities to gain practical experience through internships or field research with a UN agency or other international organization. The programme builds on the strong record of the United Nations University (UNU) in training and capacity development, and utilizes the extensive network of scholars and academic institutions participating in UNU research.

Students who earn at least 30 credits, successfully complete a master’s thesis, and pass the final examination will receive a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Sustainability, Development, and Peace. The standard period of study is two years; the programme starts in September, with students expected to complete all the requirements by July in the second academic year after enrolment.

UNU-ISP welcomes applicants with:

• A keen interest in the pressing global issues on the UN agenda, and in particular those of sustainability, development, and peace.
• The intention to proactively apply academic research findings to policymaking.
• A strong desire to contribute to the solving of problems concerning global environment, peace, and development, through an interdisciplinary approach.

Admission Requirements
Applicants for the Master of Science in Sustainability, Development, and Peace are required to have met the following requirements by the application deadline in order to be considered:

1. A completed bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognised university or institution of higher education
Those who expect to graduate and have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent conferred before enrolment may also apply.

2. A particular interest and career aspiration in at least one of the following thematic areas:

• Global Change and Sustainability
• Peace and Security
• International Cooperation and Development

3. English language proficiency
The minimum score requirements for English language qualifications required by UNU-ISP are:

• 600 in TOEFL – Paper-Based Testing (PBT)
• 100 in TOEFL – Internet-Based Testing (iBT)
• 7.0 in IELTS – Academic format

Applicants, except for the cases below, must submit original TOEFL or IELTS score reports (from a test taken within the last two years) to Admissions Office at the time of application:

1. Applicants whose first language is English.
2. Applicants who graduated from a university or a postgraduate school located in an English speaking country.
3. Applicants who completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme where the language of instruction and examination was English. In this case, an official statement from the academic institution will be required, confirming the use of English as the language of instruction and examination.

UNU-ISP requires original TOEFL/IELTS score reports (no photocopies accepted).

Financial Support
The Japan Foundation for UNU (JFUNU) Scholarship is available for outstanding applicants fromdeveloping countries who can demonstrate a need for financial assistance, and they will be considered as candidates for the award of the scholarship.

The JFUNU scholarship covers the full tuition fees, and provides a monthly allowance of 150,000 JPY* for living expenses for a maximum of 24 months. Travel costs to and from Japan, visa handling fees, and health/accident insurance costs must be covered by the student.

*150,000 JPY is the average monthly living cost for an international student without dependents in Tokyo, although this amount may vary depending on the lifestyle of the student.

Please note that the JFUNU scholarship is highly competitive and offered to a very small number of students who are granted admission to UNU-ISP. Thus, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for other funding opportunities from the government of their own country, private foundations, or international funding agencies.

Application Deadline
Application deadline for September 2012 entry is Monday, 30 April 2012.

Online Application
Your official application must be made online, using UN-CECAR online application portal. You will need to create a user account to submit your applications. The online form can be saved and returned to at any time before submitting.

Selection and Announcement of Results
After the application deadline, the process of reviewing applications and making admission decisions will take approximately 6-8 weeks. Please do not contact the Admissions Office until at least 8 weeks have elapsed to check on application status.

UNU-ISP may at any time require applicants to provide verification of the information and documents submitted as part of their application and/or additional information including, but not limited to, an interview.

1. The successful applicants will be notified by emailto the address provided on Application Form.Necessary documents for the admission procedure will be sent together with a letter of acceptance. Successful applicants must submit a medical certificate. Only successful applicants who submit the necessary documents for the entrance procedure and transfer 50% of the tuition fees for the first academic year (5,000 USD, non-refundable) within 10 UNU working days after result announcement will be admitted to the programme. The matriculation date (early September 2012) cannot be extended, regardless of any special circumstances on the part of the student.
2. The unsuccessful applicants will be notified by e-mail to the address provided on Application Form. Admissions Office does not provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

E-mail will be the primary method of contact. Therefore, it is essential that applicants provide a valid e-mail address in the Application Form and that he/she regularly checks his/her e-mail. Please ensure that our e-mails are not filtered into spam or junk folder. UNU-ISP will not be held responsible for unread e-mail communication.

Please do not call the Admissions Office regarding application status or admission decisions as we will not release them by phone.

Important Notes

• All application forms must be typed and filled in English. No handwritten or incomplete application documents will be considered.

A Bolsa Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi destina-se a apoiar a pesquisa científica desenvolvida nos Emirados Árabes Unidos por estudantes de doutoramento em fase de produção de tese que desenvolvam trabalhos que possam ajudar a informar a política pública do país nas mais diversas áreas.

“The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Scholarship encourages scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research towards informing policy making in the United Arab Emirates. The Scholarship is open to Ph.D. students from all nationalities studying at an accredited university in the UAE or abroad.

The Scholarship financially supports doctoral candidates in the research phase of their dissertation. In its initial phase, two awards are granted annually for applied research projects to be conducted in the UAE. The Scholarship covers all student expenses, including return airfares from the country of origin, accommodation in the UAE for the duration of research and a stipend to cover cost of living and assistance with the research.

OBJECTIVES
The Scholarship provides the opportunity for distinguished university graduate researchers to utilize their potentials in providing cutting edge applied research.

Further, it fosters high quality research and develops the research capacity in the region whilst promoting cross-cultural exchange and cooperation between highly recognized universities world wide and national institutions in the UAE.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be candidates for the doctoral degree at an accredited graduate institution wishing to participate in field research for their dissertation. Applicants may not be on probation, suspension or other provisional registration and must have English proficiency with a minimum score

SELECTION CRITERIA
The Scholarship is awarded based on merit as measured by academic performance and relevance of research proposal. The applicant’s intended field of study is also considered in the evaluation process with preference given to those candidates pursuing a degree in education or a directly related field of study. The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation Directors and Advisory Board serve as the evaluation and selection committee.

APPLICATION PROCESS
In order to apply online, you will need the following documents:

• The latest available official transcript and transcripts of completed degrees
• A resume outlining educational background, work experience, co-curricular and extracurricular activities
• A copy of the approved research proposal or preliminary proposal
• A two page essay outlining the reason/s why the candidate is interested in the scholarships
• Two letters of reference that address the suitability of the candidate. One letter must be from the candidate’s doctoral advisor and the other should be from another academic and must indicate the nature of the relationship with the candidate and the length of time of the relationship

O Ministério do Ensino Superior da Malásia apresenta o seu programa de bolsas internacionais destinados a quem queira prosseguir estudos na Malásia.

“The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brain from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to support Malaysian Government’s effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.

Talented international students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds are welcomed to apply for this scholarship and further their studies in any selected and well-established Malaysian public and private universities. This scholarship is divided into two (2) categories of study: Postgraduate and Post-doctoral Studies

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS), applicants must fit the following criteria:-

1. Not be more than 45 years of age during application.
2. Obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at Bachelor Degree Level for Masters Degree applicants and for PhD candidates must possess CGPA 3.5/4.0 or very good result at Masters degree level in a similar field of intended PhD study. In addition, for post-doctoral programme, the selection will be evaluated based on the number of books produced, refereed/non refereed journals, portfolio and patent copyright. The Post-Doctoral candidate must have excellent reputation in research and possesses knowledge related to the research to be carried out.
3. Took one of the following English Language Proficiency Test not more than two years before the date of application. The list of tests and minimum scores required:
• IELTS Academic Test with a score of at least 6.5; or
• TOEFL paper-based test with a score of at least 580 or computer-based test with a score of at least 230 or internet-based test with a score at least 92.
4. In excellent health condition and certified by a Certified Doctor/Medical Professional. The cost of medical examination is to be borne by the applicants
5. Wrote a proposal that is relevant to the needs and interests of Malaysia (research-based programme only)
6. Has applied for and gained admission to postgraduate and post-doctoral studies in Malaysia (conditional letters of offer will be accepted at the time of application or has a confirmation of acceptance or affiliation with the universities in Malaysia).

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Each scholarship consists of:

1. Air tickets from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia
2. An approved tuition fees
3. Monthly maintenance allowance
4. Annual grant for books and internal travel
5. Medical / Health Insurance
6. Installation and Termination grant

SELECTION CRITERIA

GENERAL CONDITION OF AWARD

1. Scholarship holder must undertake full-time studies for postgraduate and post-doctoral studies at a campus of Malaysian Universities.It is the responsibility of the scholarship holders to confirm admission to the university.
2. Scholarship holders must not change their programme during tenure of the scholarship except with written permission from their university and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
3. Scholarship holders must follow the approved programmes and abide by the university’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
4. Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of award. Monthly allowances are not payable during suspension, including suspension due to illness.
5. It is the responsibility of successful candidates to apply for and meet the requirements for the issuing of an appropriate entry visa including medical examination. The offer of the scholarship does not guarantee the granting of a visa.
6. Scholarship holders must maintain satisfactory progress and good standing as stipulated by their host university and degree programme, or the scholarship will be withdrawn.
7. The scholarships are tenable in Malaysian universities and research must be carried out in Malaysia.
8. Scholarship holders are not allowed to take any paid employment during their tenure unless with written approval from the host university.

A EAPN Portugal – Núcleo Distrital de Beja, promove o Seminário Ibérico “Lutar contra a pobreza em tempo de crise: os desafios que o interior enfrenta”, no dia 26 de abril de 2012, no qual se pretende identificar pistas e respostas para permita atenuar o flagelo da pobreza, através de uma atitude coletiva.

Este concurso visa promover o diálogo no mundo académico europeu e contempla teses de doutoramento que, a título principal, estejam relacionados com aspectos regionais e/ou locais (ver artigo 1º do Regulamento nº 2/2010).

Podem concorrer os titulares de um doutoramento obtido numa universidade de um país da União Europeia.
