Glover Teixeira (33-7-0) will take on Jiri Prochazka (28-3-1) in the Light Heavyweight Event Saturday night. Prochazka, the #2 challenger, will face off against the current champion at Singapore Indoor Stadium, in Kallang, Singapore. This will be the first time that Singapore gets a main event for the UFC since October 2019, when Maia vs. Askren was the main card. The one time this hold was used to gain a submission was at a Shooto event in Tokoyo, Japan in 2000. Here is the video of JMMA legend Dokonjonosuke Mishima catching Justin Wisniewski with the move. The submission begins around 20 seconds into the video (credit to Reddit user u/Traceur_G for digging this out of the archive):
The broadcast angle makes the complexity of the move hard to see, so here is a demonstration from Mishima showing both a leg split submission as well as the cobra hold.
The move is performed out of a side control, taking advantage of the opponents instinct to guard using the knee while being mounted. The position ends up in a quasi- knee lock, where the joint is rendered useless as all of the leverage is switched from the hips to the middle of the torso, which is not made to bend in that fashion. Mishima finishes the move by doing what looks like a chest fly, holding his opponent’s ankle and back of the neck, pulling them inward toward his chest. Bringing the ear to the torso in this fashion will generate a quick tap out, as Wisniewski can attest to.

ONE Championship looks to expand their viewership by joining the extensive list of sports partnerships under the Prime Video Sports umbrella, including events such as Thursday Night Football, New York Yankees games, the Premier League in the United Kingdom and the UEFA Champions League in Germany and Italy.
The match will feature a chance for “Mighty Mouse” to avenge the only professional knockout loss of his career, when Moraes landed a devastating knee in the second round of their previous fight back in April 2021, to retain his title. Since then, Moraes has defended his Flyweight belt by submission against Yuya Wakamatsu this past March.
This will be Johnson’s (3-1 in ONE) first official MMA bout since that match over a year ago. Johnson is not totally rusty however, as he was able to defeat Muay Thai sensation Rodtang Jitmuangnon by submission in a special rules match this past March.

He took to The MMA Hour shorty after the fight to say he had no interest in fighting Poirier, who he felt “had been disrespectful to him, completely disregarded him, and acted as though I didn’t deserve to be where I was.”
Responding to the sentiment, Poirier had said it was curious that Chandler never took a fight with somebody coming off of a win, and that he wasn’t interested in fighting him either.
Elaborating on this, Poirier said, ““I’m a dangerous fight for him… he called out Conor, think Conor is a dangerous fight for him, too. I’m not saying Chandler’s ‘chinny’ or anything, but he gets hurt in a lot of his fights, and guys like Conor, they can punch. If you’re getting hurt by Tony Ferguson and dropped by Oliveira, guys like me, guys like Conor, if we touch your chin, it’s gonna be bad.”

Chandler couldn’t let the comment slide, and so he quickly took to an Instagram Story to respond.
“I heard what you said. Listen, nobody gives a rip about your wannabe, don’t make sense, lost your shine so you’re trying to steal everybody else’s shine, backdoor MMA math. Zip it.”
Chandler is recovering from his most recent bout, while Poirier has been linked to rumors of fighting Nate Diaz before he retires. Nothing is scheduled for either fighter as of now.

Most recently, after his victory over Vargas back in March, he gained almost 50 pounds over his fighting weight of 155, to put him at 202. He documented his weight gaining journey here:
Speaking on this, Dillashaw said, “he’s just loving diabetes. That’s like a recipe for destroying your body. I guess there’s one thing when I look at it – they can promote him the right way and do all this good stuff, and he’s got some stuff to grow and get into the higher echelons of the UFC, but if you keep that same work ethic that he has now, he’ll never be a champion.”

Pimblett looks to get back into fighting shape before he returns to action on July 23rd, when he’ll face Jordan Levitt at UFC Fight Night in London.

Tuivasa has been gaining steam recently with 5 consecutive knockouts in the division, with his most recent victory over Derrick Lewis surprisingly ending in the second round, earning him his third consecutive Performance of the Night bonus.
Gane, the previous interim champion, has remained the #1 contender even after losing to his former teammate Ngannou, back at UFC 270, in January of 2022. Prior to that fight, Gane had won 5 consecutive matches, including a win over Lewis for the interim title.
The winner of this bout is most likely looking at a top contender spot, and a title shot could follow close behind.

His opponent Rodriguez, who mixes in taekwondo, boxing and submission wrestling in his style, has a record of 14-3-0 (1 NC).
The one no-contest on Ortega’s record was from back in July of 2014, when “T-City” made his debut against Mike De La Torre. He originally won the fight with a rear-naked choke, but the match was changed to a NC after Ortega tested positive for anabolic steroids in a post match screening.
The no-contest on Rodriguez’s record came from his fight with Jeremy Stephens, where 15 seconds into the match Stephens was inadvertently poked in the eye. After a 5 minute delay, Stephens was unable to continue and the fight was called.
The bout between Ortega and Rodriguez should prove to be great match, as the two are rising toward the top of their division, one in which is in desperate need of some fireworks. Who do you have winning in this one? Comment below.
