All of the participants in UFC 130: Rampage vs Hamill made weight. The weigh-in event was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both fighters in the main card, Rampage and Hamill fighting in Light Heavyweight Division weighed in identically at 205lbs.

Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum, the event which will host the two remaining remaining quarter-final fights in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament is now official for June 18, 2011 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The winner of Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum bout will face Antonio Silva in the semi-finals and the winner of Brett Rogers vs. Josh Barnett bout will face Sergei Kharitonov.

In addition, the event will feature the return of female MMA superstar Gina Carano.

UFC 128: Jon Jones Defeated Shogun Rua To Win UFC Title

Jon Jones takes throne in UFC 128 main event fight against Mauricio Rua by capturing the light heavyweight championship via TKO (strikes) at 2:37 of round 3.

The great Shogun never had chance as Jones secured his first takedown on round 1 and brutally punched and elbow the Brazilian. As Shogun stood in, Jones landed knee to the body and punches on the head making Rua wobbled and slow down.

On round 2, Jones performed his patented spinning back elbows and it landed perfectly on the Brazilian. He caught an attempted leg kick, drove Shogun to the ground and battered the Brazilian champion with punches and elbows to the head and body. The round ended with Jones attempted to do kneebar on the black belt brazilian jiu jitsu champion.

Shogun didn't have chance on round 3 as he chasing in with punches, but hits nothing but air. Head kick missed for Jones. In a short scramble, Jones puts Shogun on his back again and moved to half guard. From the guard he crushed Shogun with pure punches and elbows.

Shogun returned to standing position but was completely busted up at this point. Jones landed a knee standing and a body shot and dropped Shogun to the canvas. The referee jumped in to save the former PRIDE and UFC Champion.

The punishment left Shogun a mess that he never forget and he congratulate Jones for being the man and showing great muay thai and ground work.

Jon Jones who at 23 became the youngest UFC champion in history.

In his post fight interview Jones said, “It feels so good, It’s a testament that dreams do come true. Believe in yourself, and once you get there, don’t slow down. It comes true, everybody.”

Zuffa/UFC purchased Strikeforce

Last March 12, 2011, major change had begun in the world of MMA as UFC President Dana White announced on AOL that Zuffa LLC, the parent company of UFC, had purchased the California based MMA promotion and UFC main competitor Strikeforce.

White explained in an interview that Strikeforce would remain separate from UFC as of now and that it would be "business as usual". And still Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker will continue to run the promotion.

After the purchase, UFC now picks up Strikeforce's TV deals, opening up channels to network TV. UFC president Dana White has always said he plans to have events on a weekly basis, and Zuffa's purchase means that becomes a real possibility.

The UFC now has access to all Strikeforce fighter contracts. White insists Strikeforce fighters will be made to honor their current deals before any future moves to the UFC.

Also, the UFC will pick up all video footage from Strikeforce, allowing them easy promotion of fighters when they cross the pond.

However, the two organisations will not cross promote, meaning UFC vs. Strikeforce events will not take place.

Also known as UFC Fight Night 24, is an upcoming MMA event by UFC to be held on March 26, 2011 at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.

At first, a fight between Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Noguiera was set but Ortiz had to pull out after receiving a severe cut on his forehead.

'Mr. Wonderful' Phil Davis has stepped in to replaced Tito Ortiz for the main event fight with Antonio Rogerio Noguiera.

The season 13 of the fight reality series The Ultimate Fighter debuts March 30, 2011 on Spike TV.
