The charges include domestic violence, battery with a special relationship, criminal threats, and damaging a cell phone. Though he was arrested on felony charges, the District Attorney filed misdemeanor charges, each of which is punishable by up to a year in county jail and an undisclosed fine if convicted.

According to police, the incident took place at 10:49am PT on the 27th with Johnson then contacting police on his own before being arrested at 1:30pm that afternoon. Authorities said he was very cooperative and polite.

Details of the incident were not available, though based on the charges Johnson allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend during the incident and damaged a cell phone so that she was unable to contact police to report the incident.

When reached for comment, Nathan Brodnax of MMAagents, which represents Johnson, had no official comment on his arrest and could not confirm any details of the incident, but said they would be issuing an official statement later tonight or tomorrow.

Johnson, who was bailed out by an undisclosed party on the 27th through a bonding agency, is next scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on July 17th.

According to Twitter, Johnson is signing autographs from 6-7:30pm PT tonight at a Champs location in Las Vegas.

Attempts to reach the UFC for comment were unsuccessful.

Known for his knockout power, Johnson (7-2) is 4-2 in 6 UFC fights, including back-to-back knockout victories over Kevin Burns in December and Luigi Fioravanti in his most-recent bout in February, as well as a controversial loss to Burns last July. “Rumble” had been scheduled to fight Matt Brown at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale in June but withdrew from the matchup in May after injuring his knee during training. Johnson’s other UFC wins were first-round knockouts of Chad Reiner and Tommy Spear, while his other loss came against came against Rich Clementi in 2007 in just his second fight inside the Octagon.

UFC 100, which takes place on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, is headlined by a heavyweight championship unification and rematch between title-holders Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar, and also features UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre defending his title against Thiago Alves and the anticipated bout between TUF 9 coaches Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson.

Lesnar, Mir, St-Pierre, Alves, Bisping, and Henderson are among the fighters expected to appear at the press conference along with UFC President Dana White.

Starting this summer, Grupo Televisa will launch Televisa Deportes Network (TDN), a new national sports network fully distributed to all cable and satellite households in Mexico and in countries in Latin America. TDN will begin telecasts with a UFC partnership already in place, becoming the first television network in Mexico to air UFC live events and flagship programming.

In celebration of TDN’s historic launch, Grupo Televisa is embracing its UFC partnership with a nationwide broadcast of the UFC 100 mega-event on Saturday, July 11. UFC 100 will air on Channel 9, one of its free television networks in Mexico, starting at 10pm Central Time.

“I’ve said for years that we would love to bring the UFC to Mexico, some of the greatest fighters in history are from Mexico, and the fans there are among the most passionate and loyal in all of sports,” said Dana White, UFC President. “We are honored that Grupo Televisa will launch TDN with UFC live events and programs, and that UFC will now be available to our fans in Mexico, starting with Channel 9’s free broadcast of UFC 100 on July 11.”

TDN’s UFC schedule will consist of live UFC Fight Night events, UFC Countdown shows, one-hour feature programs that take an in-depth and exclusive look at UFC fighters preparing for an upcoming fight, and the weekly series Guerreros del UFC, a Spanish-language compilation show that features the greatest bouts throughout the UFC’s 15-year history.

This is the first major television deal for UFC live events in Mexico, but only the first of many future ventures for the brand in Latin America.

Grupo Televisa, S.A.B., is the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world and a major player in the international entertainment business.

UFC television programming can be seen in over 100 countries and territories worldwide in 17 different languages. UFC is the largest pay-per-view content provider in the world and is the fastest growing sports organization in history.

The UFC today announced that the event will air live and free in the UK on Sky channel 433 and will also be available for free on UK.UFC.com.

UFC 100 will also air live in Northern Ireland and Eire on Setanta Ireland.

Both networks will feature UFC-only programming for 9 hours beginning on Saturday at 3pm local time, airing all five episodes of the UFC’s “Top 100 Fights” series as well as the “Countdown to UFC 100″ event preview show, followed by the live fight card, which begins at 3am.

Hardonk (8-5) recovered from back-to-back losses to Justin McCully and Frank Mir with three-straight victories over Colin Robinson, Eddie Sanchez, and Mike Wessel, but suffered his third UFC loss in seven bouts inside the Octagon in April against Cheick Kongo.

Barry (4-1), who holds an 18-6-1 record as a kickboxer, kept his perfect MMA record intact in his UFC debut with an impressive first-round leg kick TKO of Dan Evensen at UFC 92 in December, but was submitted by Tim Hague in their first-round of their bout at UFC 98 in May.

UFC 104 is headlined by a light heavyweight championship matchup featuring current title-holder Lyoto Machida against challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Heavyweight contenders Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez are set to square off in the PPV card’s co-main event.

Jensen and Steinbeiss were previously scheduled to fight at UFN 18 in April, but the bout was called off after Jensen failed to be medically cleared for the fight after disclosing he had recently used Adderall, a commonly-prescribed drug used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.

Jensen suffered back-to-back UFC losses to Thales Leites and Demian Maia in 2007 before suffering a first-round knockout at the hands of Joey Villasenor in Strikeforce. Following two-straight victories outside of the major promotions, Jensen returned to the UFC in September and was submitted in the second-round by Wilson Gouveia at UFC Fight Night 15.

A member of Arizona Combat Sports and a Bodog Fight veteran, Steinbeiss (4-2) had won three-straight before suffering a split-decision loss to Carmelo Marrero in his WEC debut at WEC 36 in November. Despite the defeat, Steinbeiss was among the 185-pounders who transferred to the UFC when the WEC’s middleweight division was shut down.

UFC Fight Night 19 is co-headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Melvin Guillard and Roger Huerta vs. Gray Maynard, and is also rumored to include Dan Miller vs. Aaron Simpson, Chris Wilson vs. Mike Pyle, Jeremy Stephens vs. Ronny Torres, Tim Credeur vs. Nate Quarry, and Kyle Bradley vs. Sam Stout.

“I think I’ll fight September 19. They took me off the August 29 show,” said dos Santos. “My opponent’s changed. I’ll probably face Cro Cop. If I beat him I’ll be in really good standing. If that’s truly the case, I’m guaranteed on the main card and in the main event of the evening. If I were to fight now it wouldn’t be on the main card.

“To me it’s incredible. When they asked me if they could change the fight date I was a bit bothered, because I wanted to fight right away. I’ve been away for some time now. But the Fertitta brothers asked me and I accepted,” he continued. “After that I found out it would be against Cro Cop and was overjoyed. It’ll be a big opportunity in my career. Lots of good things have happened in my life and this is one more. I’m going to make the most of it.”

Dos Santos (8-1), who’s never gone the distance in any of his 9 career bouts, is currently riding a 3-fight win streak that includes back-to-back first-round knockouts of Fabrico Werdum and Stefan Struve inside the Octagon. “Cigano” had been scheduled to fight Justin McCully in late-August on the UFC 102 preliminary card, but news broke on Wednesday that he was pulled from the event in favor of a better matchup.

Nearly two years after leaving the Octagon following back-to-back losses to Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo in 2007, Cro Cop (25-6-2) returned to the UFC in June, defeating Mostapha Al-Turk via first-round TKO at UFC 99. Filipovic’s future in the UFC was jeopardized when he nearly signed with DREAM following the victory, his third-straight, but UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta was apparently able to convince the popular veteran to return to the Octagon with a contract he “couldn’t refuse”.

Rich Franklin is likely to headline UFC 103 against an opponent to-be-announced with Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann, Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg, and Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller also rumored for the card.

McCully announced on MMAjunkie Radio on Wednesday that he’ll instead fight newcomer Mike Russow at the August 29 event in Portland, Oregon.

Another UFC newcomer, Todd Duffee, who had been slated to fight Russow at the pay-per-view event, will instead take on Tim Hague.

Both McCully-Russow and Duffee-Hague will take place on the unaired preliminary card.

Though no reason has yet been given for lineup changes, it appears likely that dos Santos was pulled from the card for a better matchup at one of the UFC’s fall events. Adding the exciting up-and-comer dos Santos to the main card for the UFC’s September 19 event in Dallas, UFC 103, could supplement a still to-be-booked but likely weaker-than-normal main event, especially if he’s matched against another attention-grabbing heavyweight such as Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (should he return to the UFC).

The matchup was announced by Bader on Wednesday on Facebook.

A two-time D-1 All-American wrestler at Arizona State, “Darth” Bader compiled a 7-0 record before winning TUF 8 with a finals victory over Vinny Magalhaes. In his next bout, Bader defeated Carmelo Marrero via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 18 in April but suffered several torn ligaments in his knee during the bout that sidelined him for up to six months.

After leaving the UFC in 2007 following back-to-back losses to Michael Bisping and Stephan Bonnar, Schafer won two-straight before returning to the Octagon for victories over Houston Alexander last September and Antonio Mendes in January. “Red” was slated to return to action at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale in June against Tomasz Drwal but withdrew from the bout after sustaining a rib injury while training.

“Usually I get here (at) 188, 189, and I’m amazed with myself. 183, I’m like whoa. Everybody from the UFC was like, wow, I can’t believe it,” Alves told MMA Weekly.

Unlike his previous bouts at 170-pounds in which he had a one pound allowance to make weight, Alves, who previously missed weight for the UFC 85 main event against Matt Hughes and tested positive for weight-cutting diuretics in late-2006, will have to be exactly on the mark for the Saturday title fight.

The concerns haven’t affected Alves, however, who promises a war and is confident he’ll knock GSP out.

“It’s gonna be a war. Georges St. Pierre, he’s the champion, but I’m going to knock him out. It’s my time,” Alves concluded.

The UFC announced the 155-pound matchup on Tuesday, with another lightweight matchup between Roger Huerta and Gray Maynard set to co-headline the Spike-televised card.

After falling short in a WEC lightweight championship bout against Hermes Franca, Diaz (10-4) won The Ultimate Fighter 5 with a finals win over Manny Gamburyan. Following four-straight wins over Junior Assuncao, Alvin Robinson, Kurt Pellegrino, and Josh Neer, Diaz suffered the first setback of his UFC career, a split decision loss to Clay Guida in January. In his most-recent fight at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale in June, Diaz suffered a unanimous decision loss to Joe Stevenson.

Following a 3-1 start to his UFC career, Guillard (22-7-2) headlined UFC Fight Night 9 against Joe Stevenson but was submitted in just 27-seconds, then tested positive for cocaine and served an eight month suspension. After suffering a loss to Rich Clementi in his first bout after the suspension in late-2007, Guillard briefly left the promotion, earning a decision win over Eric Regan before returning with a “Knockout of the Night” of Denis Siver at UFC 86 last July. “The Young Assassin” was scheduled to take on Spencer Fisher at UFC 90 in October, but a torn ACL forced him out of the bout. Guillard returned to the Octagon at the TUF 9 Finale, picking up a split decision over Gleison Tibau.

In addition to Diaz-Guillard and Huerta-Maynard, UFC Fight Night 19 is rumored to include Dan Miller vs. Aaron Simpson, Chris Wilson vs. Mike Pyle, Jeremy Stephens vs. Ronny Torres, Tim Credeur vs. Nate Quarry, and Kyle Bradley vs. Sam Stout.

A middleweight bout between Tim Credeur and Nate Quarry and a lightweight fight between Kyle Bradley and Sam Stout has been booked for UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16 in Oklahoma City.

MMAjunkie first reported both matchups on Tuesday, with the fights expected to be finalized shortly.

Credeur (12-2), whose only career loses came at the hands of Joey Villasenor and Chael Sonnen, is currently riding a 6-fight win streak, including 3-straight UFC victories over Cale Yarbrough, Nate Loughran, and Nick Catone. Quarry (11-3), a winner of 7 of his last 9 fights dating back to 2003, bounced back from a November loss to Demian Maia with an impressive first-round TKO of Jason MacDonald in April.

Despite back-to-back losses to Chris Lytle and Joe Lauzon to start his UFC career, Bradley (14-6) was booked for a third UFC bout against Phillipe Nover, winning the fight via first-round TKO. Stout (14-5-1), who has won three “Fight of the Night” awards since debuting with the promotion in 2006, was most-recently in action in April, defeating Matt Wiman via unanimous decision.

Credeur-Quarry and Bradley-Stout join Roger Huerta vs. Gray Maynard, Dan Miller vs. Aaron Simpson, Chris Wilson vs. Mike Pyle, and Jeremy Stephens vs. Ronny Torres on the rumored lineup for the Spike-televised event.

Stephens (16-5) faces a must-win matchup after suffering back-to-back losses to Joe Lauzon and Gleison Tibau in his most recent bouts. “Lil Heathen” had previously won 3 of 4 UFC fights, earning Knockout of the Night honors with a third-round KO of Rafael dos Anjos in November as well as wins over Cole Miller and Diego Saraiva, while suffering a decision loss to Spencer Fisher.

Torres (14-1), who has fought exclusively in Brazil over his 15-fight career, suffered his lone loss in September 2007 and has since bounced back with 8-straight victories, only one of which went the distance, to earn a contract with the UFC. He had been slated to debut against Melvin Guillard at UFC Fight Night 18 earlier this year, but was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a knee injury.

The Spike-televised UFN 19 event is also rumored to include Roger Huerta vs. Gray Maynard, Dan Miller vs. Aaron Simpson, and Chris Wilson vs. Mike Pyle.

UFC President Dana White announced the latest inductees via Twitter on Monday evening.

The pair are set to be inducted at 6:30pm PT on Friday on the eve of UFC 100 at the UFC Fan Expo at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Liddell, MMA’s most-popular and well-known fighter, inconspicuously made his MMA debut at UFC 17 in May 1998, defeating Noe Hernandez via unanimous decision to kick off a streak that saw him win 12 of his first 13 fights over the likes of  Jeff Monson, Kevin Randleman, Guy Mezger, Murilo Bustamante, Vitor Belfort and Renato Sobral. After picking up a victory over Alistair Overeem between losses to Randy Couture and Quinton Jackson, Liddell won back-to-back fights over Tito Ortiz and Vernon White before winning the 205-pound title with a first-round knockout of Couture in April 2005.

“The Iceman” would go on to defend the title four-straight times against Jeremy Horn, Couture, Sobral, and Ortiz before relinquishing it to Quinton Jackson in May 2007 after suffering a first-round knockout. After losing the belt, Liddell would win just once more inside the Octagon, defeating Wanderlei Silva in late-2007 in one of the most thrilling fights in recent history, while suffering losses Keith Jardine, Rashad Evans, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

Though Liddell has not yet officially retired, the UFC President White has made no secret of his wish for the UFC star to hang up his gloves after compiling a 21-7 career mark and having an extended reign as the top light heavyweight in the world. Liddell recently stated that he wouldn’t return until after April 2010 at the earliest should he opt to continue his fighting career.

Charles “Mask” Lewis Jr., who died on March 11, 2009 as a result of a tragic car crash, becomes the first posthumous inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame. He co-founded what would become the sport’s biggest apparel company, TapouT, in 1997 with Dan Caldwell (”Punkass”) by selling MMA apparel out of the trunk of a car. TapouT quickly grew alongside the UFC into a multi-million dollar company that has become synonymous with the sport, with its growth exploding in recent years, jumping from $22.5 million in 2007 to a predicted $225 million in 2009. Mask and Punkass, along with a third partner “Skyscrape,” were featured on a TapouT reality show on Versus, which followed the trio and they scouted up-and-coming fighters.

Liddell and Lewis will join Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Randy Couture, and Mark Coleman as members of the UFC Hall of Fame.

Method says one name you can cross off the list of potential opponents is Strikeforce heavyweight contender Brett Rogers, with an opponent for Lashley’s next fight already determined but not yet been finalized.

The former professional wrestler and amateur and NAIA wrestling champion Lashley (4-0) successfully made the jump to mixed martial arts last year with a first-round TKO (cut) of Joshua Franklin. He followed up his MMA debut victory with wins over Jason Guida and Mike Cook, before scoring a first-round submission (due to strikes) of Bob Sapp on June 27.

Lashley recently announced that he intends to next fight in September.

The Showtime-televised event, which takes place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, features three other title bouts as Gina Carano and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos meet for the Strikeforce 145-pound Women’s Championship, heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem takes on Fabricio Werdum, and lightweight champions Josh Thomson and Gilbert Melendez unify their titles.

In their previous meeting in early-2006 at UFC 57, Riggs topped Diaz by unanimous decision but even more memorable than their fight inside the Octagon was the one that took place after they left the cage, as the pair brawled at the hospital.

Diaz (20-7) has won five-straight, including recent victories over Frank Shamrock and Scott Smith, while Riggs (31-11) has won back-to-back fights over Luke Stewart and Phil Baroni.

The long-rumored matchup is the third championship bout on the Showtime-televised card, joining Gina Carano and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, who meet for the newly-created Strikeforce 145-pound Women’s Championship, as well as a lightweight title unification and rematch between Josh Thomson and Gilbert Melendez. Nick Diaz vs. Joe Riggs is also expected to be featured on the event’s main card.

Overeem and Werdum previously fought in May 2006 in PRIDE, with Werdum winning the bout via second-round submission.

The loss to Werdum started a stretch that saw Overeem (29-11-1) lose 5 of 7 fights, before rebounding to go unbeaten in five-straight bouts dating back to late-2007. Overeem began the unbeaten streak by winning the vacant Strikeforce heavyweight belt with a second-round submission (due to strikes) of Paul Buentello.  He’s since won three more bouts, including wins over Mark Hunt and Gary Goodridge, as well as a no contest against Mirko Cro Cop, but has yet to defend the title.

Considered among the best heavyweights in the world, Werdum was rumored to be in line for a heavyweight title shot in the UFC following wins over Gabriel Gonzaga and Brandon Vera, but was cut by the promotion after suffering a first-round TKO to newcomer Junior dos Santos. The former Brazilian jiu-jitsu and ADCC world champion holds notable wins over Aleksander Emelianenko and Overeem, as well as losses to Andrei Arlovski and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

The former PRIDE lightweight champ Gomi (30-5) rebounded from back-to-back defeats and a pair of unimpressive wins with a second-round knockout of Takashi Nakakura at a May Shooto event. “The Fireball Kid” has not fought in the US since an early-2007 loss to Nick Diaz at PRIDE 33 in Las Vegas (the result was later changed to a No Contest after Diaz tested positive for marijuana).

Oliveira (8-1) has won three-straight, including a unanimous decision win in his most-recent bout in April, after suffering his only career loss to Lyle Beerbohm at an October ShoXC event.

Affliction: Trilogy is headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett and also features Gegard Mousasi vs. Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Vitor Belfort vs. Jorge Santiago, and Paul Buentello vs. Gilbert Yvel.

Fanhouse first reported the matchup on Sunday evening, with the bout expected to be finalized later this week.

Wilson (14-5), a former IFL fighter, is 1-2 in the UFC, suffering a loss to Jon Fitch in his Octagon debut and losing to John Howard in January in his most-recent fight, while picking up his lone UFC victory over Steve Bruno in August.

Pyle (19-6-1) made his UFC debut on short notice in May as a fill-in for Wilson, losing to Brock Larson via first-round submission at UFC 98. An Affliction, EliteXC, Strikeforce, Sengoku, WEC, and IFL veteran, “Quicksand” had previously won four-straight fights before the May loss.

UFC Fight Night 19, which will be televised live on Spike, is also rumored to feature Roger Huerta vs. Gray Maynard and Dan Miller vs. Aaron Simpson.

Index understands that Lorenzo Fertitta, the head honcho and part owner of the UFC flew to Zagreb with his own private jet earlier this morning. He was driven to Mirko’s residents shortly after, where he stayed for two hours talking with the Croatian fighter. He returned to the airport afterwards, smiling, where his private jet flew off in to an unknown destination.

There is no doubt that Fertitta came to Zagreb to persuade the Croatian fighter to change his mind and to sign with the worlds strongest fight sport organization. We understand that Cro Cop has been offered an incredible deal that should see him fight with the UFC once again . Although Filipovic was unavailable for comment, its clear that this is a major development in the ongoing negotiations. We will almost certainly, see CroCop in the world’s strongest organization once again despite the Cro Cop close ties with Dream.

Cro Cop refused to extended his UFC contract at UFC 99 due to the oragnziations long breaks in between fights. Filipovic has stated that the UFC heavyweight title is a lifelong dream, though he didn’t want to wait another six months for his next bout. Clearly the two parties have come to some sort of an agreement. Cro Cop’s value to the UFC has become even more evident with Fertitta himself flying to Croatia. Such a move is almost unprecedented with most deals being handled by UFC president Dana White.

Nearly two years after leaving the Octagon following back-to-back losses to Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo in 2007, Cro Cop returned to the UFC in June, defeating Mostapha Al-Turk via first-round TKO at UFC 99. Competing under a special one fight deal under the premise that he’d return for additional fights, Filipovic reportedly signed with DREAM following the bout in a move likely to end his UFC career. However, the latest rumors indicate that Cro Cop has yet to sign with either promotion and is considering offers from both the UFC and DREAM.

According to Bakersfield.com, all of the victims were attending a family reunion/Independence Day celebration when an unknown assailant opened fire with a semi-automatic weapon, killing Anthony Mack Johnson, who died at the scene, and injuring Lavar Johnson and three others.

Johnson was last in action in May, scoring an 18-second knockout of Carl Seumanutafa at the debut Strikeforce Challengers event to extend his current winning streak to five-straight.

“[I'm planning on sitting out] for at least a year or so, just to let my head rest. I haven’t personally made a decision one way or the other. Hopefully my brain can heal over time. The shot last fight is something that normally wouldn’t hurt me. I think I need at least some time off from getting hit. I’m going to take time off sparring then. I’ll train still. Still gonna roll. I’ll probably do a little more jiu-jitsu than normal because I like it. It’s fun.”

While Liddell’s retirement decision can wait, the UFC must soon find a headliner for UFC 103, which currently boasts Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann and Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg as its top bouts.

The former IFL middleweight champ Miller (11-2) won three-straight bouts over Rob Kimmons, Matt Horwich, and Jake Rosholt to begin his UFC career, extending his unbeaten streak to ten-straight, but suffered a unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC 98 in May, his first loss in over three years.

Aaron Simpson, who trains at Arizona Combat Systems, made his WEC debut late last year with an 18-second knockout of David Avellan. After the promotion’s middleweight division was shut down following his win, Simpson made the jump to the UFC, defeating Tim McKenzie via first-round TKO in April.

Simpson and ACS teammate Steve Steinbeiss were rumored to be fighting at UFC 103 when it was tentatively scheduled for September 26th in either the UK or Phoenix, Arizona, but Simpson will now fight at UFN 19 in the Midwest and Steinbeiss could follow suit.

UFC Fight Night 19 is also set to feature Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta, with tickets for the Spike-televised event set to go on sale on July 9.
