Former “The Ultimate Fighter 7″ cast member Jesse Taylor, perhaps most famous for getting kicked out of the UFC twice, recently announced he be fighting at the July 20th DREAM 10 event in Japan. He announced the bout via his website, as well as his expected opponent Korean Judoka Dong Sik Yoon.

Taylor is comes into the fight after just having defeated Rubén Darío this past weekend at Total Combat 33 in Mexico City. The “The Ultimate Fighter” alum has gone 6-0 since leaving the UFC following a loss to C.B. Dolloway in July, 2008.

Yoon last competed in September of 2008 in a loss to Andrews Nakahara at DREAM 6 as part of the promotions Welterweight Grand Prix. Yoon was later expected to face Murilo “Ninja” Rua at DREAM 8, but was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury. Yoon only has a 4-6 record, but has faced notables Quinton Jackson(L), Kazushi Sakuraba(L), Melvin Manhoef(W), and Gegard Mousasi(L).

Justin Buchholz will be stepping in to replace the injured Ronnys Torres at UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16. His opponent will be fellow young gun, and UFC Fight Night staple, Jeremy Stephens. This marks the second time that Torres has been forced to withdraw from his anticipated UFC debut due to injury. The lineup change was first reported by MMAJunkie earlier today.

Buchholz will look to even up his UFC record after going 1-2 in his three fights so far for the promotion. In his last outing Buchholz suffered a loss at the hands of Terry Etim via second round D’arce Choke. Prior to the loss to Etim, he had defeated former “The Ultimate Fighter” contestant Corey Hill with a second round submission of his own.

Stephens will be looking to stave off his third consecutive loss in the bout, after losing to Joe Lauzon and Gleison Tibau, respectively. Stephens stepped in on short notice against Lauzon at UFN 17 where he eventually fell victim to a second round arm bar. He then went on to face Gleison Tibau, who was a late replacement for Efrain Escudero at UFN 18, where he suffered a unanimous decision defeat.

Top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko appears unlikely to end his UFC holdout anytime soon, putting an anticipated superfight against the promotion’s title-holder Brock Lesnar on hold indefinitely.

UFC President Dana White was confident at Saturday’s post-UFC 100 press conference that he’d soon sign Emelianenko away from Affliction following his August 1 matchup against Josh Barnett.

“This whole Fedor thing has been going on and on and on. I keep saying this and that about him and he keeps waiting. Eventually, Fedor’s going to be here. I want Fedor. I want him to come to the UFC and everything else,” said White. “[Brock Lesnar] just became the heavyweight champion. We’ll end up getting that deal done. And then we’ll do Brock vs. Fedor, and it’ll be a huge fight.”

White’s hopes to sign Emelianenko won’t be enough to persuade the Russian to enter the Octagon, as it appears Emelianenko would only consider fighting in the UFC should the promotion consider altering its contract terms.

The disagreement between Emelianenko and the UFC over the terms of a proposed contract is nothing new, with the same issue derailing a fight between “The Last Emperor” and the UFC’s then-heavyweight champion Randy Couture.

Emelianenko re-affirmed his distaste for the UFC’s contract terms in a recent interview with Bas Rutten on HDNet’s Inside MMA.

“At the present time, I don’t think so, I don’t think you’ll see me in the UFC, just because the terms, and the manner in which those terms are offered, are not acceptable today,” said Fedor.

The UFC will not only have to alter its terms to lure Fedor and reach an agreement, but will also have to compete for his services with Affliction, who, despite an uncertain future that has been well documented in recent months, is reportedly nearing a long-term agreement with the fighter, who is considered one of the world’s pound-for-pound best.

UFC matchmaker Joe Silva confirmed the news during Saturday’s UFC 100 pay-per-view broadcast.

Swick (14-2) has lost just once in 10 UFC bouts, losing to middleweight contender Yushin Okami in 2007 before dropping to welterweight in early-2008 and winning four-straight fights over Josh Burkman, Marcus Davis, Jonathan Goulet, and Ben Saunders.

Kampmann (15-2) has won 6 of his 7 UFC fights, including 2-straight at welterweight over Carlos Condit and Alexandre Barros following a loss to middleweight contender Nate Marquardt last September in his final fight at 185-pounds.

St-Pierre (19-2) has won 6-straight matchups following his upset loss to Matt Serra in early-2007, defeating Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, Serra, Jon Fitch, BJ Penn, and Thiago Alves to cement his status as the world’s top welterweight and among its best pound-for-pound fighters.

A date for the matchup between St-Pierre and the Swick-Kampmann winner is not yet set, as it hinges on how St-Pierre’s groin injury, suffered in his UFC 100 win over Alves, heals, as well as what shape the winner of the September fight between Swick and Kampmann is in, though the UFC’s traditional blockbuster year-end show, with this years set to take place in early-January, is a possibility.

Now that the air has at least somewhat cleared around Brock Lesnar, it’s time to turn the spotlight over to who else but Georges St. Pierre. My thoughts on GSP and other mildly interesting topics after the jump.

Now that the air has at least somewhat cleared around Brock Lesnar, it’s time to turn the spotlight over to who else but Georges St. Pierre.

Any fan worth their weight in pay-per-view dollars can tell you the problem “Rush” now faces after thoroughly cleaning out the 170lb division. Albeit this “problem” is probably the best (or worst, if you’re a cynical bastard) type that a fighter can have. Joining the ranks of Anderson Silva and BJ Penn to a whinier extent, Georges St. Pierre has simply performed too well for his own good, or at least division.

The GSP who still has to prove himself among the best in the world is officially gone. Here to stay is the French-Canadian world beater who utterly destroys everything in his path including the “toughest challenger yet”, a phrase which almost seems laughable in hindsight. Undeniably, there is just a massive talent gap between St. Pierre and every other struggling minnow in the welterweight pond. Some of those little fish may grow and mature enough to prove a formidable challenge to GSP one day, but not any time soon.

Generally speaking, I’ve never been too keen on the notion of St. Pierre indulging some extra coq au vin and testing the waters at middleweight. My reasoning, as St. Pierre himself has hinted before, is a simple matter of ounces and distribution. Now I sound like a drug dealer. Nevertheless, while GSP is obviously a physically terrifying welterweight, his height and lean body-type lead me to believe that he isn’t ideally equipped to hang with the fiercest shark in the 185 pound tank. I’m speaking of course about one particular predator, The Spider.

I’m not about to lie to you and state that I wouldn’t be all shades of curious to see how St. Pierre fares against some of the top dogs in the middleweight order. But without challenging Anderson Silva in the superfight to end all superfights, is GSP delving into middleweight once or twice even worth the trouble?

I say this because, as much as I like St. Pierre, I do not believe that he should bother challenging Anderson Silva. As great as GSP is, Silva is just a terrible, terrible match up for him. Though to be fair Anderson Silva is a terrible match up for just about everyone, however GSP makes no exception.

If it pleases the UFC to throw “Rush” into a couple MW contests to keep casual fans from forgetting his name while other welterweights develop, I’ll understand and tune in as usual. But I also won’t lose any sleep if GSP announces tomorrow that he’ll be staying at welterweight for the rest of his career. The man has already proved to the world all he needs to as one of the finest mixed martial artists to ever put on a pair of four once gloves. The determining question will surely be, is Georges St. Pierre content with a career that doesn’t include taking a crack at The Spider? We’ll find out soon enough…

In other musings:

-While were on the subject of St. Pierre, I couldn’t help noticing that between rounds Greg Jackson spoke to GSP like a fragile child on his first day of kindergarten. I don’t mean to mock the methodology because clearly, it works. But did anyone else find it just a bit unsettling to see a grown man address his fighter in such a matter? Maybe I’m just an insensitive jerk.

- Its funny how Dan Henderson, who readily admits that he knowingly went the extra mile (air bomb punch) on an unconscious Michael Bisping, gets so little flack for doing so- mostly because everyone hates Bisping and has a certain respect for Henderson. I guess I can’t really argue with that.

-Mark Coleman defeated Stephan Bonnar…legitimately…what? Yea, that just happened. I’ve watched the fight three times now, and three times I still can’t believe what I’m seeing. Does Coleman really have something left in the 44 year old tank or has Bonnar fallen off something awful? It could be a combination of both. But you’ve certainly piqued my curiosity, Mark.

- Its so common to criticize UFC judging yet they keep giving us the ammunition. A 30-27 call for Akiyama against Belcher, really? Was there a meth sale going down by the judging booth?

-I’m glad Jon Fitch proved that Paulo Thiago is good, but he ain’t that good. Way to play mythbuster, Jon.

-I would really have loved to see any number of other fights on the UFC 100 telecast. Jones-O’Brien, Coleman-Bonnar or Danzig-Miller all would have done nicely. I know the ppv timing is a sticky science, but it was UFC 100, wasn’t it? Do we not get anything for our previous 99 events worth of good behavior?

-For some reason I could not receive UFC 100 in HD when I ordered it from Comcast. I called Comcast and they said it wasn’t being broadcast in HD and there was nothing that they or I could do. Anyone else have this problem? Should I just switch back to DirectTV?

-Lastly, in case you forgot, Bruce Buffer pulled off the once in a lifetime Buffer 360! Shake and bake!

One of the nagging questions for MMA fans over the past sixteen months has been “When will Cung Le defend his middleweight title?” The answer to that question seems to be, “Not any time soon.” It is now being reported that former EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields will be challenging for an interim belt at middleweight, while the promotion waits on Le to return to fighting. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker recently broke this news to MMAFanhouse at the press conference for the promotions upcoming Gina Carano vs. Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos event.

Shields’ last outing came in June at a catch-weight of 182 pounds, against former EliteXC middleweight champ Robbie Lawler. Shields defeated the heavy handed Lawler via guillotine early in the first round of the fight. Prior to that Shields had been on a eight month layoff since defeating Paul Daley in his final defense of his EliteXC welterweight belt, before the promotion ended operations.

Current champion, Le has yet to defend the title he won in March of 2008 from Frank Shamrock. He has instead focused on a movie career which has included work in at least six films. There still is no word yet on a time frame for Le’s return to the cage.

There is also no word yet on a potential opponent, or date for Shields’ interim title challenge, which would likely take place in September or October. There had previously been rumors of a match up between Shields and either Matt Lindland or Vitor Belfort in August, but neither came to fruition.

A location has not yet been determined for the Versus-televised event.

Brown (22-4), a winner of 10-straight bouts who trains out of American Top Team, topped Jeff Curran in his WEC debut last June before defeating Urijah Faber to win the title in November. He’s successfully defended the belt twice since, defeating Leonard Garcia via first-round submission in March and again defeating Faber by unanimous decision in a June rematch.

Aldo (15-1) has recorded knockouts in all five of his WEC bouts, defeating Alexandre Franca Nogueira, Jonathan Brookins, Ronaldo Perez, Chris Mickle, and, most-recently in June, Cub Swanson since debuting with the promotion last June to earn a shot at the featherweight title. His lone career loss was a second-round submission defeat in 2005 that has been followed by 8-straight wins.

Another interesting match-up is in the works to be added to the already stacked UFC 104 card for October. Welterweights Anthony Johnson and Yoshiyuki Yoshida will each look to move closer to the top of their division. The fighters have verbally agreed to the contest, but the actual fight contracts are in the process of being finalized, according to MMAJunkie.

Johnson is coming off of back to back knockout victories over Kevin Burns and Luigi Fioravanti, respectively, bouncing back from a controversial loss to Burns in their first meeting. He had been expected to take on “The Ultimate Fighter” alum Matt Brown at the finale for season 9 of “The Ultimate Fighter”, but was forced to withdraw by a knee injury suffered in training. Brown later backed out of the card citing nagging injuries of his own.

Yoshida garnered a submission victory over Brandon Wolff in his last outing at UFC 98, marking a rebound from a vicious knockout loss to Josh Koscheck in December. The skilled Judoka will bring an 11-3 record to the Octagon that evening which he will no doubt hope to extend.

Johnson recently made headlines for the wrong reasons as he was arrested for alleged domestic violence, allegations of which his managers maintain he is completely innocent.

Simpson recently announced the matchup against Herman on Facebook after previously stating he could fight Dan Miller at the Spike-televised event only to update his announcement to say nothing was yet official.

Simpson (5-0, 1-0 UFC), who trains at Arizona Combat Systems, made his WEC debut late last year with an 18-second knockout of David Avellan. After the promotion’s middleweight division was shut down following his win, Simpson made the jump to the UFC, defeating Tim McKenzie via first-round TKO in April.

Herman (15-7, 4-4 UFC) is 4-4 in the UFC since debuting with the promotion in 2006 following his appearance on the reality show. After back-to-back losses to Kendall Grove and Jason MacDonald to start his UFC career, Herman would win 3-straight over Chris Price, Scott Smith, and Joe Doerksen. “Short Fuse” followed up losses to Demian Maia and Alan Belcher in 2008 with a unanimous decision victory over David Loiseau in April.

UFC Fight Night 19, which will serve as the lead-in for The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights featuring Kimbo Slice, is co-headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Melvin Guillard and Roger Huerta vs. Gray Maynard, and is also rumored to include Chris Lytle vs. Carlos Condit, Chris Wilson vs. Mike Pyle, Jeremy Stephens vs. Ronny Torres, Tim Credeur vs. Nate Quarry, Kyle Bradley vs. Sam Stout, and Steve Steinbeiss vs. Ryan Jensen.

Most of the articles I’ve been reading around the blogosphere (including some serious debate from you guys) have focused primarily on whether or not Lesnar’s ever-present professional wrestler attitude is good or not so good for mixed martial arts.

Personally, I subscribe to the semi-popular belief that Brock can do no further damage to the sport than what has already been done via TUF antics, the Diaz brothers, or Dana White tirades. Make no mistake: Nobody, not even Brock Lesnar, can be bad for MMA if they perform and draw the way that Lesnar does. Was Tito Ortiz bad for MMA when his shtick was carrying the UFC hype machine? The guy was a jackass, sure. But he drew. And more eyes felt the warm glow of UFC pay-per-views just to see what would happen to the punk you loved to hate so much.

I say let Brock be Brock. I genuinely don’t care. Maybe its the apathetic nihilist in me, but come on, do you really care that much about what Brock Lesnar says in his post-fight soliloquies? I know I know, this is MMA and the WWE theatrics should be left to McMahon and company, I concede that such remains a legitimate argument. However on the flip side, if a man chooses to play the heel yet continues to compete at the highest level of the sport without becoming too much of a prima donna, I simply do not see the harm.

I don’t work for Budweiser, I don’t care if Frank Mir’s feelings were hurt regarding the eloquent horseshoe comment, and from what I can tell Lesnar’s wife was none too upset at the mention of her champ “getting on top of her” all neander-style. “I beat man, have good drink, take woman to cave.” It’s primitive, but it’s also fairly accurate in Brock Lesnar’s case. The man ain’t a neurosurgeon, people. He’s an alpha-male, whether he knows what the term means or not.

Here’s a thought, or conspiracy theory rather, so take it for what you will. But I believe there remains an antiquated concept of what mixed martial arts should be that is driving at least some of the latest Lesnar criticism. UFC 1 saw Royce Gracie prove that technique schools size and strength, and it was a glorious thing to revel in.

Those who witnessed the victorious undersized Brazilian could rejoice knowing that the stereotypical schoolyard bully no longer posed the same threat. That dopey bastard would have no idea how to fend off a simple arm bar. It would almost be too easy. Admittedly, when my MMA addiction first began to take root I was highly taken in by the concept of someone my size (very short and scrawny at the time) being able to force a physically imposing jerk to tap out from some crazy leg lock that I pulled out of nowhere. Sucka.

Ninety-nine UFC’s later; Brock Lesnar comes along and momentarily disproves the core principle of modern mixed martial arts, which early UFC events had largely created. This time the less polished, overpowering, grunting gorilla, who could certainly never maneuver his legs for a proper gogoplata, dominates the smarter, sharper technician. Darwin would not be proud.

And so, some of us freak out feeling as if we have just entered the plutonium fueled DeLorean back to the heydays of Frye, Coleman or Randleman- guys who only made a buck because they were bigger and stronger (and juiced.) Uncivilized, unsophisticated, testosterone-driven men who were all too happy to ground and pound like a pack of wild cro-mags unaware of any other weapons in the MMA arsenal.

But I say fear not to those clinging to fighters like Emelianenko, Machida, Penn and A. Silva. There are plenty of these crafty devils to go around, and when their time has passed others will spawn. Brock Lesnar on the other hand is a mere genetic anomaly. We cannot copy and paste more of them, not that the government wouldn’t try if they thought it possible.

So let’s all take a step back for a second. Let’s relax. Let’s appreciate that the UFC heavyweight division has a champion who creates compelling match ups across the board. Let us wait another fight or two to see if Brock Lesnar’s “era” has truly begun before we start burning down jiujitsu schools and dead lifting until nauseous. Let us admit without inducing a panic attack that even in 2009, a big oaf with limited technique can rely heavily on his physical gifts to destroy decorated black belts.

It’s not the end of the world. It’s just a jerk who can hit hard and smother people. He happens to come from professional wrestling, and you can tell. But the man is no more harmful to mixed martial arts than any other larger-than-life athlete was to their respective sport. Brock Lesnar’s rise, while controversial, only threatens those who fear change, which is painfully ironic since evolution is precisely what makes MMA the beloved, complex animal that it is. Now can we please talk about Georges St. Pierre for a minute? Alright, next time.

After having his 13-fight win streak that spanned more than 3 years ended by Thiago Silva in his Octagon debut in September 2007, Drwal (16-2, 2-1 UFC) rebounded to earn back-to-back knockout wins over Ivan Serati and Mike Ciesnolevicz in 2009.

Regarded for his knockout power, McFedries (8-5, 4-4 UFC) had lost two-straight fights to Mike Massenzio and Thales Leites before knocking out Xavier Foupa-Pokam in just 37-seconds in his most-recent fight in May. He had previously defeated Marvin Eastman, Jordan Radev, and Alessio Sakara in the UFC, while suffering losses to Martin Kampmann and Patrick Cote.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Junior dos Santos is expected to co-headline UFC 103 alongside a main event featuring Rich Franklin against an opponent to-be-announced. Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann, Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg, Sean Sherk vs. Gleison Tibau, and Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller are also rumored for the card.

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and welterweight title-holder Georges St-Pierre were the top earners at Saturday’s UFC 100 event, each taking home $400,000 for their co-main event victories.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the official fighter salaries on Monday for the pay-per-view event, which took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas in front of 11,000 fans for a $5.1 million live gate.

As previously reported, Lesnar received $400,000 to show with no win bonus for his second-round knockout of Frank Mir ($45,000) in the evening’s headliner. St-Pierre’s salary was comprised equally of a $200,000 is show money and a $200,000 win bonus for his unanimous decision victory over Thiago Alves ($60,000).

Dan Henderson ($250,000), Michael Bisping ($150,000), and Mark Coleman ($100,000) were also among the top salaries for the historic card, which drew widespread mainstream media coverage and could surpass 1.5 million PPV buys.

Remember, the salaries listed below are simply the figures the UFC is required to report to the NSAC and do not include sponsorships, ‘fight night’ bonuses, portions of pay-per-view revenue, which are received by top fighters such as Lesnar and St-Pierre, nor miscellaneous fees and taxes. For example, Lesnar, who officially earned $400,000, reportedly received more than $3 million from the UFC alone for his UFC 100 fight before his sponsorship revenue is included.

The total disclosed payroll for UFC 100 came in just shy of $1.8 million at $1,790,000.

The official salaries for UFC 100, as reported to the NSAC, were:

Brock Lesnar ($400,000 – no win bonus) def. Frank Mir ($45,000)

Georges St-Pierre ($400,000 – includes $200,000 win bonus) def. Thiago Alves ($60,000)

Dan Henderson ($250,000 – $150,000 win bonus)* def. Michael Bisping ($150,000)

Yoshihiro Akiyama ($60,000 – $20,000 win bonus)* def. Alan Belcher ($19,000)*

Jon Fitch ($90,000 – includes $45,000 win bonus) def. Paulo Thiago ($8,000)

Mark Coleman ($100,000 – $50,000 win bonus) def. Stephan Bonnar ($25,000)

Jim Miller ($22,000 – $11,000 win bonus) def. Mac Danzig ($20,000)

Jon Jones ($18,000 – $9000 win bonus) def. Jake O’Brien ($13,000)

Bantamweights Manny Tapia and Eddie Wineland have agreed to square off and featherweight contenders Wagnney Fabiano and Rafael Assuncao will take on WEC newcomers Erik Koch and Yves Jabouin respectively.

Tapia-Wineland was first-reported by the Northwest Times of Indiana, while MMAjunkie was first to report Fabiano-Koch and Assuncao-Jabouin.

Tapia (10-2-1 MMA, 2-2 WEC) challenged for the WEC bantamweight title after going unbeaten in 11-straight fights to start his career, but came up short against title-holder Miguel Torres late last year, suffering a second-round TKO before losing to Akitoshi Tamura in May. Wineland (14-6-1 MMA, 1-2 WEC), who won the WEC bantamweight title in 2006 but lost it in his first attempted defense against Chase Beebe the following year, had won back-to-back fights before losing to Rani Yahya in April in his WEC return.

Fabiano (12-1 MMA, 2-0 WEC), the former IFL featherweight champ, was emerged as a 145-pound contender in the WEC with back-to-back victories over Akitoshi Tamura and Fredson Paixao to extend his unbeaten streak to 8-straight. Koch (8-0 MMA, 0-0 WEC) won two fights on a single night in April, defeating Tom Ahrens and Will Shutt via first-round rear naked chokes to earn a contract with the WEC.

Despite just one WEC bout, a unanimous decision over Jameel Massouh in April, Assuncao (13-1 MMA, 1-0 WEC) too is a featherweight contender, with wins in 5-straight fights following his lone career loss to bantamweight veteran Jeff Curran. Jabouin (14-4 MMA, 0-0 WEC) will make his WEC debut on a 4-fight win streak, most-recently beating JT Wells with a spinning back kick KO in November.

UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta announced the signing on Saturday during a Q&A with fans at the UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas before UFC 100.

Nearly two years after leaving the Octagon following back-to-back losses to Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo in 2007, Cro Cop (25-6-2) returned to the UFC in June, defeating Mostapha Al-Turk via first-round TKO at UFC 99. Filipovic’s future in the UFC was jeopardized when he reportedly signed with DREAM following the victory, his third-straight, but UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta was apparently able to convince the popular veteran to return to the Octagon by offering him a contract he “couldn’t refuse”.

Cro Cop is rumored to meet heavyweight prospect Junior dos Santos in a featured bout at UFC 103 on September 19 in Dallas, Texas.

Sherk became the UFC’s lightweight champion in late-2006 by winning the vacant belt with a victory over Kenny Florian. Sherk successfully defended the title in July 2007 with a win over Hermes Franca, but tested positive for steroids after the fight and was stripped of the title and suspended for six-months. “The Muscle Shark” returned in May 2008 and immediately challenged BJ Penn for the lightweight belt, but suffered a third-round TKO. After winning “Fight of the Night” honors in an October win over Tyson Griffin, Sherk was defeated by Frankie Edgar via unanimous decision at UFC 98 in May.

Tibau, 5-4 since first-joining the UFC in late-2006, holds wins inside the Octagon over Jason Dent, Jeff Cox, Terry Etim, Rich Clementi, and Jeremy Stephens while losing bouts to Nick Diaz, Tyson Griffin, Joe Stevenson, and Melvin Guillard. He had won back-to-back fights over Clementi and Stephens, before losing to Guillard in his most-recent bout in June.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Junior dos Santos is expected to co-headline UFC 103 alongside a main event featuring Rich Franklin against an opponent to-be-announced. Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann, Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg, and Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller are also rumored for the card.

Though the main broadcast didn’t catch it, Bruce Buffer, pioneer of the infamous 180°” Buffer turn”, pulled off the rumored 360° during his Brock Lesnar introduction last night. Thankfully Joe Lauzon’s cell phone captured the epic spin in all of its fabled glory. Why this isn’t the big story coming out of UFC 100 I just can’t understand. Silly media.

Courtesy of the funny folks at lookoutwhale, a little treat for all you Bisping haters who no doubt relished every minute of Dan Henderson’s bone crushing knockout of “The Count” last evening. Enjoy, and thank me later.

Remember that time Brock Lesnar got all up in Frank Mir’s grill even after battering him worse than a filet-o-fish sandwich? Well here’s a short clip from the countdown show that might help explain why Lesnar just had to take things so personally. “Weights and my doubles’ all I need for MMA!” Classic.

I don’t think in the history of the UFC we’ve had anybody do that. It’s not who we are, and, to be honest, it’s not who he is. You hang with these guys personally, and you get to know them. If he was a dick, I’d tell you right now this guy is a psycho and I don’t know what I’m going to do with him. He’s not. He’s a smart guy. The sponsorship thing was the craziest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.

The figures were announced by the UFC at the post-fight press conference.

The $5.1 million gate is the second-highest ever for the promotion, falling just short of the $5.4 million gate of UFC 66 in December 2006, which was headlined by Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz.

In addition to the near-record live gate, UFC 100 is expected to be the most-watched UFC PPV event in history, with predictions that it could surpass 1.5 million buys and generate record single-event revenues for the world’s top promotion.

The $100,000 bonuses are the biggest ever awarded for the traditional post-fight awards.

Akiyama and Belcher received “Fight of the Night” honors for their three-round battle, which saw Belcher connect with leg kicks at will that left “Sexyama” limping, while Akiyama’s multiple takedowns were enough to earn him to victory.

Henderson earned “Knockout of the Night” with a highlight reel knockout of rival Michael Bisping in the second-round of their featured main card bout. After dominating Bisping throughout the opening round, Henderson stalked Bisping in the second looking for a knockout opportunity before connecting with a right that collapsed Bisping to the canvas and following it up with a brutal flying elbow that left Bispng unconscious for nearly a minute.

“Submission of the Night” went to “Filthy” Tom Lawlor for his 55-second guillotine choke submission of CB Dollaway on the UFC 100 prelimiary card.

Heavyweight title-holder Brock Lesnar became the UFC’s undisputed heavyweight champion on Saturday in the main event of UFC 100 by avenging the only loss of his MMA career with a second-round knockout of interim champ Frank Mir to cap off the historic pay-per-view event, which took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Despite his dominant performance, Lesnar earned little respect from fans after confronting a still-dazed Mir in the cage before flipping off the crowd and belittling top UFC sponsor Bud Light in a pro wrestling-esque post-fight speech.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre retained the 170-pound title by dominating top-contender Thiago Alves en-route to a clear unanimous decision victory. St-Pierre, who neutralized Alves’ striking throughout the contest and used a series of takedowns to earn the win, will meet the winner of Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann in his next title defense.

Former PRIDE champion Dan Henderson likely earned another crack at the middleweight title currently held by Anderson Silva with a highlight reel second-round knockout of Michael Bisping. After picking Bisping apart during the first round, Henderson stalked the UK fighter in the second before connecting with a brutal right that collapsed Bisping to the canvas then followed it up with another huge right on the ground that left Bisping unconscious for nearly a minute before he staggered back to reality.

Jon Fitch and Yoshihiro Akiyama were also victorious on the main card, earning decision victories, while Mark Coleman and Jon Jones were the big winners on the evening’s preliminary card.

Stay tuned to MMAFrenzy.com all-day Sunday for comprehensive post-UFC 100 coverage.
