With one of the quickest sellouts in history, floor seats going for $45,000, and a title bout double feature, UFC 100 is poised to live up to its billing as the biggest mixed-martial-arts event in history.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has been in overdrive all year promoting its ascent into triple digits, and the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas was sold out in April, before a single ticket went on sale to the general public.

Behind all the hoopla is a deep fight card, with no fewer than three bouts worthy of main-event status. "TUF" vet Vinicius Magalhaes follows UFC Fan Expo appearance with Shark Fight

"The Ultimate Fighter 8" finalist Vinicius Magalhaes (2-4) will seek to end a three fight skid in his first appearance outside of the UFC when he meets unheralded Marcus Sursa (3-4) at "Shark Fight 5.5: Nothing to Lose."

The bout takes place in just nine days at the organization's July 18 event in Amarillo, Texas.

Admission to the event will be free for all attendees, though fans are encouraged to pick up tickets - which are currently available - in advance.

On the eve of the UFC's first-ever fan expo, Reed Exhibitions, the company behind the production of UFC Fan Expo 2009, is already looking forward to future events in association with mixed martial arts' biggest promotion.

Reed Exhibitions' Ed Gallo, the UFC Fan Expo 2009 director, recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio that the organization is already eyeing future events.

"We're definitely going to do more," Gallo said. "I could totally see a couple of year, if possible."

Report: Patrick Barry vs. Antoni Hardonk meet in heavyweight contest at UFC 104

Sluggers Patrick Barry (4-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Antoni Hardonk (8-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC) will look to rebound from disappointing losses when the pair meets in a heavyweight contest at UFC 104.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com is reporting that both fighters have agreed to the contest. Initial attempts by MMAjunkie.com to reach the fighters for comment were unsuccessful.

UFC 104, headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between current champ Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, is scheduled for Oct. 24 in Los Angeles.

Win or lose at UFC 100, Mark Coleman isn't calling it quits on his fighting career

Win or lose, whether he's with the UFC or not, 44-year-old Mark Coleman isn't calling it quits on his fighting career anytime soon.

The former NCAA Division I national wrestling champion and 1992 Olympian (and UFC 10 and UFC 11 tournament winner, first-ever UFC heavyweight champion, 2000 PRIDE Openweight Grand Prix champ and UFC Hall of Famer) said Saturday's UFC 100 fight with Stephan Bonnar will in no way be his last.

"This is a huge fight for me," Coleman told the Dayton Daily News. "It's the first time in my career I've felt like it's a make-or-break fight. I have to win. If I lose, I'm probably done with the UFC, but I'm not done with fighting."

World Mixed Martial Arts Awards set for 2009 nominations, "Oscars-style" awards ceremony

Solidifying its standing as the most prestigious awards system in the sport of mixed martial arts, organizers for the Fighters Only World Mixed Martial Arts Awards today opened the nomination stage for this year's balloting.

Organizers also announced a new addition to this year's awards: a Dec. 30 "Oscars-style" awards ceremony at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The year-end event will recognize and celebrate "the achievements of the people involved in making MMA so great."

After conflicting reports and questions about Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic's standing with the Japanese-based DREAM organization and the UFC, the Croatian fighter is, in fact, returning to the octagon.

MMAjunkie.com first reported on Wednesday that Junior Dos Santos (8-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) had been pulled from a UFC 102 bout with Justin McCully, and sources close to the negotiations now tell us he is set to fight fellow heavyweight Filipovic (25-6-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at UFC 103.

The event takes place Sept. 19 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, and airs live on pay-per-view.

The event airs on Sky Channel 433 as part of a nine-hour marathon of UFC programming.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is again selling its pay-per-view events online, and as part of Saturday's UFC 100 event, anyone who makes a purchase on UFC.com will also receive access to the otherwise-un-aired six-fight preliminary card.

UFC 100 takes place this Saturday, July 11, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

To gain access to the prelims, purchases ($44.95 per event) must be made by 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) this Friday, July 10.

While the UFC has yet to announce a U.K. broadcast partner for Saturday's historic UFC 100 event, the organization has managed to secure a network-television contract in Mexico.

As the UFC continues its marketing push into Mexico and Latin America, Saturday's event will air live on Televisa.

The Grapplers Quest organization today announced the addition via its Twitter account.

Magalhaes and Valverde will compete in one of four grappling superfights that will take place on July 10 and 11 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas at the UFC's first-ever fan expo.

Bruce Buffer isn't ruling out a "Buffer 360" during Saturday's UFC 100 main event

You've seen the lightning-quick, body-jarring move known as the "Buffer 180" prior to the UFC's biggest fights for the past few years.

Bruce Buffer, the UFC's longtime in-cage announcer, introduces one fighter before quickly spinning to point at and introduce his opponent on the other side of the octagon. The iconic move has become a favorite not only of fans and fighters but also UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan, who's championed its branding.

Limited to spins of 45 to 90 degrees for most fights, Buffer extends it to 180 degrees for most main events. And given the historic nature of Saturday's UFC 100 event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, he isn't ruling out the long-awaited "Buffer 360."

World Victory Road signs Olympic silver medalist Hiroshi Izumi to Sengoku event series

The Japanese-based World Victory Road organization today announced the signing of Olympic silver medalist Hiroshi Izumi to its Sengoku event series.

Although no debut date has been set, the 27-year-old Izumi is expected to make his anticipated professional MMA debut by year's end.

The Japanese fighter won a silver medal in judo (in the 90-kilogram category) at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games after he was defeated by Georgia's Zurab Zviadauri.

A bout between Chan Sung Jung (6-1) and Matt Jaggers (11-5) that will serve as the night's featherweight grand prix reserve bout is set for World Victory Road's upcoming Sengoku Ninth Battle event.

The Aug. 2 event features the semifinals and finale of the organization's featherweight tournament and takes place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Jaggers was eliminated in the first round of the 16-slot tournament in March, and Jung was eliminated in the second round two months later.

With UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva busy preparing for his Aug. 8 light-heavyweight showdown with Forrest Griffin, the next challenger for "The Spider's" middleweight crown may very well be decided on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

While Dan Henderson (24-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has openly stated he expects a second shot at Silva should he defeat Michael Bisping (17-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) at UFC 100, "The Count" recently said he's under the impression a win would also get him a shot at the 185-pound title.

"My manager has spoken with the UFC, and apparently the word on the street is I do get a title shot (with a win)," Bisping told MMAjunkie.com Radio.
