Anyway, this blog has undergone an unannounced hiatus and it has been covered with dust, spider webs and what nots. However, he just received a wake up call. A wake up call that calls him and say, “To Hell with your laziness and excueses, get back to do what you can do a little good. Serve your readers and serve ‘em better!”.

He thought, “Oh, hell… what’s there to lose?”, and the another voice answered, “Freaking lots of hours!!”.

And then he fell back asleep. Zzzzz….

(I’m just thinking about bringing this blog back to life, and weighting my options. Motivation and time is nowhere to be found when it’s much needed.)

What’s the meaning of this sad song, I wondered. Then I looked up and there I found it.

“It’s about two childhood friends. The type of childhood friend that is the opposite sex, but are so close to. But the complications of love and lust have not yet developed. Their friendship was simple. They’d spend the night at each other’s houses and it wasn’t a big deal. They grow up and fall in love with each other. But somewhere, things began to get complicated as they grew up and they lost touch without even realizing it….I’m too hard at work, have you ever heard of anything so absurd? He’s saying that it’s not an excuse to lose something so precious over something so ridiculous. Now, their friendship is nothing…they let it slip away.”

The lyrics goes like this:

You. You were a friend. You were a friend of mine I let you spend the night
You see how it was my fault. Of course it was mine.
I’m too hard at work. Have you ever heard of anything so absurd ever in your life.
I’m sorry for wasting your time.

Who am I to say this situation isn’t great? It’s my job to make the most of it

In this chapter of book, describing the first habit – “Be Proactive“, it’s said that a person, who’s proactive will take a stimulus of a situation, and he’ll choose a response based on the principles that lies deep within the core of every human like: integrity, honesty, human dignity, service, quality, excellence among other things. As for the reactive people, he’ll take a stimulus and respond based on: the choices that he made, instinct, and most importantly by not taking the responsibility of a situation that has happened.

Let’s look at some reactive language and proactive language to understand better.

“There’s nothing I can do.” vs. “Let’s look at our alternatives”

“That’s just the way I am.” vs. “I can choose a different approach”

“He makes me so mad.” vs. “I control my own feeling.”

“They won’t allow that” vs. “I can creat an effective presentation.”

“I have to do that” vs. “I will choose an appropriate response.”

“I can’t do this” vs. “I choose not to do this.”

“I must do this” vs. “I prefer to do this.”

“If only…” vs. “I will”

Here’s an excerpt of the example about love in that chapter that should make some contribution to everyone who’s not enjoying a Valentine in his/her relationship as much as it should be enjoyed.

At one seminar where I was speaking on the concept of proactivity, a man came up and said, “Stephan, I like what you’re saying. But every situation is so different. Look at my marriage. I’m really worried. My wife and I just don’t have the same feelings for each other we used to have. I guess I just don’t love her anymore and she doesn’t love me. What can I do?”

“The feeling isn’t there anymore?”, I asked.

“That’s right,”, he reaffirmed, “And we have three children we’re really concerned about. What do you suggest?”

“Love her,” I replied.

“I told you, the feeling isn’t there anymore.”

“Love her”

“You don’t understand. The feeling of love just isn’t there”

“Then love her. If the feeling isn’t there, that’s a good reason to love her.”

“But how do you love when you don’t love?”

“My friend, love is a verb. Love- the feeling – is a fruit of love, the verb. So love here. Serve her. Sacrifice. Listen to her. Empathize. Appreciate. Affirm her. Are you willing to do that?”

In the great literature of all progressive societies, love is a verb. Reactive people make it a feeling. They’re driven by feeling. Hollywood has generally scripted us to believe that we are not responsible, that we are a product of our feelings. But the Hollywood script does not describe the reality. If our feelings control over actions, it is because we have abdicated our responsibilities and empowered them to do so.

Proactive people make love a verb. Love is something you do: the sacrifices you make, the give of self, like a mother bringing a newborn into the world. If you want to study love, study those who sacrifices for others, even for people who offend or do not love in return. If you are a parent, look at the love you have for the children you sacrificed for. Love is a value that is actualized through loving actions. Proactive people subordinate feelings to values. Love, the feeling, can be recaptured.

First of all, Happy New Year to you all. It’s been 5 months that I’ve been posting at this blog and I’ve posted a total of 40 posts (including some posts that I’ve immigrated from my old blog) over that period. I must admit 40 is considerably low number of posts over 5 months yet, I’m quite grateful and glad that I’ve gathered over 6K hits from everywhere. And I’d like to take this chance to thank every reader, commenter, rss subscriber and referrer for their generous support, ever since my first post here, of motivation for me to keep writing.

1 – GTalk Bomber ရဲ႕ spam ဒါဏ္ ခံျပီးျပီလား?

A program called GTalk Bomber bombarded burmese GTalk users’ community spamming everyone to use that program which supposedly will allow you to send a message to everyone in your contact list with a few clicks. This post tried to warn many Gtalk users of the consequences in using this application. And it has been circulated among many Burmese websites so that it generated a spike in traffic with the highest peak of 2.5K unique visits for the month of September for a pathetically small site as mmhan.net.

To Conclude

Even though, I’ve never said it as many of you have imagined, I’ve been writing with a specific target in mind even though it can’t be easily defined by myself.

However complicated it may be, I guess I could say my objective is:

“Amidst the thousands of blogs and hundreds of Burmese blog, I’d like you, my dear reader to have gained a teeny tiny bit of knowledge or awareness that could come in handy in your daily life from reading a post that I’ve cooked up.”

I’m not sure if you guys have heard about my project, Move to the Beat, a game based on the animated movie, Sing to the Dawn.

Sing to the Dawn is a movie by Infinite Frameworks, backed by Media Development Authority Singapore. This movie is based on award winning novel and produced “locally” here in Singapore.

This project was done as my final year project in one semester time, creating rhythm based game using flash. I was responsible for programming of the game engine and compiling all the assets given to me. Even though this project was already finished since last year’s December, its release has been delayed to accompany the release of the movie.
