After releasing Google Transliteration plugin for WordPress, now it is time to introduce Google Transliteration for BuddyPress.

Transliteration is now available on blog comments, groups, activity streams :). if you are already using Google transliteration plugin for wordpress there is no need to install any other plugins. Just upgarade to 1.6+ version and activate the transliteration in the plugin option page.

Have you ever posted something too quickly and then regretted it, and had to quickly change it before it got picked up in RSS readers? I’ve personally had this happen to me dozens of times, and it always seems like Feedburner will pick up the post instantly, with your errors in place.

This Plugin lets you stop a feed from immediately being published. You can also disable individual posts from appearing in feeds.

How to set up Fedora Install DVD as a Yum repository

It’s obviously useful to set up a local repository in Fedora Core 6 to take files from local repository instead of having to go to the Internet to get them.
In Fedora Core 5 and above, the installer is based on yum and so there is actually yum repository metadata present on the DVD.

Configure yum to use your new repository

DeltaRPM is a tool that generates RPMs that contains the difference between an old and a new version of an RPM. This makes it possible to recreate the new RPM from the deltarpm and the old one. You don’t have to have a copy of the old RPM, as it can also work with installed RPMs.The delta rpm packages are even smaller in size than the patch RPMs, which is an advantage when transferring update packages over the Internet. The drawback is that update operations with delta RPMs involved consume considerably more CPU cycles than plain or patch RPMs

Google Translates Persian

As the Internet becomes a more important path for information between Iran and the rest of the world, Google has added support for Persian to its Google Translate service.

Google didn’t specifically tie the release of the service to the post-election protests that are currently gripping Iran but noted on a company blog that the release is “particularly important now, given ongoing events in Iran.”

Social media has proved key in helping people communicate and get around government censorship and Google noted the service could be used to translate “Persian into English and from English into Persian—whether it’s a news story, a website, a blog, an email, a tweet or a Facebook message.”

Today, we added Persian (Farsi) to Google Translate. This means you can now translate any text from Persian into English and from English into Persian — whether it’s a news story, a website, a blog, an email, a tweet or a Facebook message. The service is available free at http://translate.google.com.

We feel that launching Persian is particularly important now, given ongoing events in Iran. Like YouTube and other services, Google Translate is one more tool that Persian speakers can use to communicate directly to the world, and vice versa — increasing everyone’s access to information.

As with all machine translation, it’s not perfect yet. And we’re launching this service quickly, so it may perform slowly at times. We’ll keep a close watch and if it breaks, we’ll restore service as quickly as we can.

Fedora 11 Released

Fedora has just released a new major version, Fedora 11, around six-and-a-half months after the release of Fedora 10. The changelog is extensive, but the screenshot tour shows an alluring operating system. You can read the entire Fedora 11 changelog here, but it’s rather unwieldy.
