However, you are not alone. There are millions of Job seekers around the globe trying to get to the right job. The right job with the right employer is just out there. All you have to do is find out where it is and get there. Easy said than done! Here are few Social Media Strategies you can use to find new connections and get your job.

Using Social Media to get hired

<u3:p></u3:p>1. Have a Blog Page:

<u3:p></u3:p>

Opening a Weblog will cost you nothing. All you need is internet connection and a Browser. As a candidate you can easily showcase your skills in a Blog. The more interesting your Blog is the better is your chances of getting a call for interview. Always make sure you do align you Blog contents to the job you are looking for. For instance, if you are looking for an opportunity in Web Development then open a Blog related to Web Development and showcase your Web Development skills by posting useful Scripts and Web Applications. Rather than saying explicitly that you have a skill it is wise to show them implicitly in this way. There are various Blog tools like wordpress, Typepad, Blogspot etc. that are freely available for Blogging.

<u3:p></u3:p>2. Use Multimedia:

<u3:p></u3:p>

Use Social Media websites like Youtube, Dailymotion etc to market you better. Make a short video about yourself and put them online. Its FREE and easy! All you need is a Video Camera or a Camera phone. Cross-promote them on your Blog - put the link on your Blog.

<u3:p></u3:p>3. Showcase your skills:

<u3:p></u3:p>

Make the most use of tools like Google Presentation, Slideshare etc to showcase your skills and cross-promote them in Websites like Linkedin, Facebook and also Tweet them. Also, regularly try answering the questions posted by people on Linkedin - I mean the technical questions. You probably would network with your potential employer there.<u3:p> </u3:p>

<u3:p> </u3:p>
4. Don't stay alone:
When it comes to Job search if you do it with other like minded people you tend to feel more enthusiastic about your search. Also, you will get an idea about where you stand in the market. Meetup is a Website where real people organize real networking events. Its always good to participate in such events and get to know other new people in your industry. Who knows, you probably would end up getting a job there.<u3:p></u3:p>

5. Just get there:
<u3:p></u3:p>

Well, getting connected using these Social Networking websites is just the first step. You will have to do the hard work of preparing yourself to get to your job. Use Social Media just to know and let know people. Your skills and abilities alone would speak in the end. <u3:p></u3:p>

No more rushing out of your home for Mobile Phone signal

Hi all,

Now you don't have to jump out of a closed space to get better signal on your Mobile Phone. Oxford Scientists have made life relatively easy for you. Scientists from Isis Engineers have created an antenna which operates in 3-D mode. It emits/transmits in 3-D mode which means that there would be much greater capacity. Scientists at Isis promise up to 33% increase in efficiency of operation. So, there would be hardly any need for someone to jump from a closed space to an open space for mobile signal.

What is the Business advantage?

The antenna uses 'Compact Dielectric Antenna Systems'. So, one can use the existing materials to make such an antenna and nothing new to be used.

These issue about getting better signals on Mobile Phones has already stated to getting resolved. So, what next? I wish it could be the use of Mobile Phones in London Underground!! Let us see.

Consumer Services in Corporate World

The use of Consumer Services in the Corporate World is the story in Social Networking at present. Consumer Services are the services like Facebook, Orkut etc. Employees in the present day corporate world use the Services to share information and Network.

Lets consider the example of Facebook. According to an article in 'IT Now' published by British Computing Society (BCS), there are about 66 Million Facebookers. Records show that there are already many organisations where there are Facebook users. For instance, in Microsoft there are 33000 Facebook users. Likewise, from IBM there are about 20000 employees in Facebook. While, these would definitely enable information sharing and Networking, the downside of this is that this is risky within a corporate environment. The following are the reasons for that:

1. Enterprise would have sensitive information which should not be shared.
2. There is a high probability that this would risk the privacy of the employees.
3. The organisations have less control over the employees.

Apart from Consumer Services, employees within a corporate world use the Consumer apps which is still in infancy. For instance, the use of Instant Messaging in a work place.

The employers in a corporate world cannot completely stop their employees from using these Consumer Apps and Services. However, one can enforce control over these by various methods. Some of th useful methods are:

1. Enterprise could introduce Consumer Service like Facebook for the employees within the Enterprise.
2. Enterprise could permit the employees, but with certain corporate policies, to use the Consumer Services and Apps.

One can read further on 'IT Now' July 2008 edition from BCS. Later, I will come back with other interesting news. Bye for now

On to Mobile Web 2.0

Hi all,

Today I found a very interesting extract from a white paper on 'Mobile Web 2.0' from Juniper Research. I would like to share them with you all.

As Mobile technologies and Web grows at a rapid rate, consumers are in the driver seat driving the growth of these new Technologies and Services. In contrast to early Web (Web 1.0) where Web just served the purpose of getting information, Web 2.0 is more about sharing information and collaborating between the users.

Mobile Web 2.0 is all about sharing and collaborating using the Mobile phones. The main drivers of this new service would be consumers in the age group of 13-25 as such consumers are more tech savvy and use data communication more than voice communication.

In Business stand point, exploiting the Mobile Web 2.0 would help in Targeted Advertising, Location Based Services, Mobile Search etc. This would offer new revenue opportunities for all the members of the Mobile Value Chain - the MNOs (Mobile Network Operators), Content Owners, Aggregators and end-users.

However, there are still challenges that are to be overcome. Some of the forseen problems are:

1. Disparate technologies are to be brought into one roof and offer the service in the Mobile environment which needs a lot of Home Work by standardising bodies.

2. Infrastructures like WiFi and WiMax should get better for better communication.

3. Privacy and Regulation is another challenge to be dealt with. There has be regulations to control how personal information can be released.

4. The growth of Mobile Communication should be kept in pace with the growth of Web.

Curret trend in the growth of the technology shows that Emerging Markets like India, China and Bangladesh market are going to drive this Mobile Web 2.0. According to Juniper research, the current global market for Mobile Web generates US$5.4bn. This would reach to US$22.4bn by 2013. Also, trend shows that, Indian market would be the largest driver in the growth of the Mobile Web 2.0. My personal opinion about this - one reason for this quick growth in Indian market is that in India they adopt present day Technologies from Developed markets simply because they started late. So, they are able to keep pace with the growth of technologies and services.

Please follow this link to the extract from the White paper - http://www.juniperresearch.com/shop/products/whitepaper/pdf/Whitepaper%20~%20web%202.pdf
Soon I will come out with more interesting information. Bye for now.

The .anything ...the future

Hi all,

In my previous blog I finished saying that I will speak about Web 3.0 in my next blog. However, I am putting it for until later. Today, I have something interesting. Its ".anything". So what is it all about? Its all about openness and freedom for the users. Previously there were Top Level Domain names (TLD) like age old .com or country specific .co.COUNTRY NAME or .org for organisations etc. Now Web is becoming more and more flexible leading to a condition where people could actually create any TLDs (http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7475279.stm). For instance, I could possibly have a TLD like www.morefreedom.ontheweb ...Who knows!! Soon the web could become even more open where one could use "anything" in place of www (for instance, web.is.free). By the way, TLD is what comes after the first dot after the website name in a website.

On the other hand, it would take some time for the Web users to get used to ".anything" as Web users still use the ".com" even though they are given a choice. But anyways, having a choice and not using it is much better than not having a choice at all. Isn't it?? See you soon with more interesting blogs. Until then, Bye

From Web to Web 2.0

Hi all..

Its been a long time since I posted a blog. I am back once again. During the recent times the talks about Web 2.0 is increasing. So, what is Web 2.0? Web 2.0 is simply an enhancement of Web where people can collaborate better and there would be less control over the Websites by the Website owners. This would give more freedom for the people to communicate and collaborate. Some of the examples are RSS feeds, Social Networking website like Facebook, Youtube, Flickr and Weblogs. Lets see how this Web 2.0 is going to impact businesses. Businesses can make the most use og this advancement as there is more room for 'Digital Marketing'. One could post an ad about their business on sites like Youtube or one could provide targeted ads by analysing the social networking websites. However, privacy is one issue that always exist. Personally, I hate being tracked by someone.

By the way, there is a 'meetup' group named 'Business 2.0' at London. This is a group of like minded individuals in Web. So, one could just signup for the meetup online for FREE on http://internetpro.meetup.com/62/ and people can share new ideas about Web and Marketing online.

In my next blog I will speak about Web 3.0 which is the NextGen Web. Until then bye.

Quality Information in Web Services for eBusiness Advantage...

Web Service is a new area, a continuation of already existing web technologies, in this millennium that is going to have a serious business impact. From Google to Amazon, the proliferation of Web Service plays a major role in having a competitive advantage in the ebusiness. So what is Web Service? Simply speaking Web Service is just an API that can be used between two businesses or between a business and a consumer or between consumer. Let me give a simple example. Let us say we want to add two numbers. Unlike a traditional method, here we create a function for addition which we can just use them where ever necessary just like an API. Leading vendors like Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems compete in the market in providing Web Services. So, in Web Service, there is a need for the Web Service vendors to focus on providing quality on the service in order to gain a competitive advantage in the market. These Quality integration is necessary in time-critical, privacy sensitive Web Services. Performance, Reliability, Security, Availability, Accessibility, Integrity are the quality information that a Web Service vendor can focus on adding to the service. Again this varies depending on the application. A mobile web service can have a different web service quality requirement from a travel web service. Service provider and the service consumer should co-ordinate properly for the fulfillment of the requirements of the consumer. Here the key is to understand the consumer requirements and provide the service. The winner is the one who understands the requirements first. More research is going in this new area of web service. There is a good article to get a basic idea about the quality of services of web services: http://www.developer.com/services/article.php/2027911. Let the research continue...

<media:rating>nonadult</media:rating>
