Samsung Galaxy S3 looks much different from its predecessor because both Galaxy S1 and Galaxy S2 were quite rectangular in shape. This time the whole concept has been changed. The device has got slimmer looks and is much more comfortable to hold. This Smartphone has all the edges rounded edges giving it an appearance of a candy device. The body of this Smartphone is also stunningly wonderful with beautiful shades on it like most other Smartphones. There are two colors available for this Smartphone. One is Dark Blue and another is white. The colors are quite different this time because in earlier series of this Smartphone it was available in Black and white but now Black has got replaced with Dark Blue. The button has now got much sleeker and smaller with two Capacitive buttons on its either sides which are for Menu and for Back function. But the drawback in its appearance is that the front design of the of the Smartphone looks ugly because of many sensors and front face camera filling up the space giving it an appearance as if it has been drilled with phones. Another disappointing fact is that its body is still made of only plastic that is, no other metallic or allow material is used.

The Lumia 900 will operate on the AT&T LTE network, which unfortunately may task the 1830 mAh battery. The 14.5GB of internal memory is not expandable due to the lack of a memory slot, but will likely be sufficient for most buyers with the included SkyDrive cloud storage. While the Lumia 900 doesn’t have the best hardware on a smartphone, it is the best phone running Windows Phone.

In the late 1990s the vast majority of mobile phones had only basic phone features and many people who needed functionality beyond that also carried PDA and/or pager type devices running early versions of operating systems such as Palm OS, BlackBerry OS or Windows CE/Pocket PC. Later versions of these systems started integrating cell phone capabilities with their PDA and messaging features and support of third-party applications. Today, high-end devices running these systems are often branded smartphones.
In early 2001, Palm, Inc. introduced the Kyocera 6035, the first smartphone to be deployed in widespread use in the United States. This device combined the features of a personal digital assistant (PDA) with a wireless phone that operated on the Verizon Wireless network. For example, a user could select a name from the PDA contact list, and the device would dial that contact's phone number. The device also supported limited web browsing. The device received a very positive reception from technology publications, but the product line never became widespread outside North America.
In 2001 Microsoft announced its Windows CE Pocket PC OS would be offered as "Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone 2002." Microsoft originally defined its Windows Smartphone products as lacking a touchscreen and offering a lower screen resolution compared to its sibling Pocket PC devices.
In early 2002 Handspring released the Palm OS Treo smartphone, utilizing a full keyboard that combined wireless web browsing, email, calendar, and contact organizer with mobile third-party applications that could be downloaded or synced with a computer.
In 2002 RIM released their first BlackBerry devices with integrated phone functionality and shifted the positioning of their products from 2-way pagers to email-capable mobile phones. The BlackBerry line evolved into the first smartphone optimized for wireless email use and had achieved a total customer base of about 32 million subscribers by December 2009.

Google and Intel are working for next generation smarphones

Intel and Google have declared a new partnership to built low-powered Atom CPUs and their successors running with Google's Android platform as the chipmaker attempts to launch itself into the smartphone market.

Intel executives stated at their annual developer conference on Tuesday that Android phones featuring Intel CPUs should be available in the first half of 2012. Both companies say they will work together to optimize Android to run on the x86 architecture, a move that should speed up development and reduce the time to market of Intel based Android devices.

ARM based chips dominate the Android smartphone market. In contrast, Intel's architecture is unrivaled for desktop usage, but to date it has been rather inefficient in devices with limited battery life due to high power drain.

"The smartphone business is not established in terms of the ultimate shakeout of who's going to win and who is going to lose," Otellini said. "You saw what happened in terms of how fast Android took share from Apple. So good products on good platforms can really still make a big difference in this industry."

While Android technically could support Intel chips, it much is easier for a manufacturer to launch an Intel-based Android phone to the smartphone market.Until now, it has been up to phone manufacturers to make their Android phones compatible with Intel chips. But future versions of the Android software will be optimised to work with Intel chips.

"It's really about Google saying that Intel is going to be a first-class citizen in the Android ecosystem," said David Kanter, an analyst with Real World Technologies. But he added that Intel still needs to win over handset makers if it hopes to succeed in the smartphone market.

Samsung To Release 2GHz Dual-Core and Flexible Smartphones By 2012

Samsung, perhaps the world’s most emergent smartphone maker over the past year, has confirmed it intends to push the barriers of mobile computing, committing to releasing a 2GHz dual-core powered handset by 2012.

The development of a 2GHz dual-core chip would provide new Samsung smartphones with data processing capacities of 4GHz, with the company considering selling the processing units separately.

Samsung, quoted by Korean search provider Daum, said:
“We are planning to release a 2Ghz dual core CPU-equipped smartphone by next year. This product will have the data processing capacities of a regular PC.”

Samsung said that it is aiming to have tablets and mobile phones with flexible displays by 2012. Following on the monumental success of the Galaxy S II, which has sold well over ten million phones in half a year, Samsung is now well on its way to manufacturing a flexible screen for the masses and is spurred on by its own success.

Samsung purchased Liquavista, a tech company which produces electrowetting displays. These are bright, flexible, transparent and above all, low-cost.

What technology Samsung has currently shown off, impresses. Its flexible OLED is contained inside a rigid shell and is similar to Nokia’s offering, in that with a twist and a pull of the screen, interaction is possible. Its technology incorporates light generating pixels within flexible screens that lack backlights.

Flexible displays have been in fashion since early 2008 when a bending e-Reader made its way from Plastic Logic. Following this, Sony created and demoed one of the world’s first flexible displays in 2009 named the “Flex OLED”

Samsung is slowly winning the endless smartphone battle against rival Apple. In the third fiscal quarter 27.8 million Galaxy S II’s were shipped, in stark comparison to the 17.1 million Apple devices.

Nokia will release 12 Windows Phone 7 in 2012

Nokia will be releasing 12 Windows Phone 7-powered devices in 2012 and some will feature ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processors.The news comes via Forbes who spoke to STMicroelectronics’ CEO Carlo Bozotti at STMicroelectronics’ analyst day.

At present, there’s no word from inside Nokia on how its progressing with the development of its Windows Phone 7-powered smartphones.Of course, there have been more than a few rumours of prototype devices already being passed around within the company, so we expect to see, or hear, something before the close of 2011 on this subject.Stephen Elop, Nokia’s Microsoft-loving CEO, has also expressed his desire to get a Windows Phone 7-powered Nokia handset to market before the close of the year.

We’ve heard lots of reports about a device called the Nokia W8, which is basically the Nokia N8 flashed with Windows Phone 7, and the Nokia W7 – a variant of the Nokia E7, just with a Windows Phone 7 operating system.

Here’s a snippet of our report on the Nokia W8 and Nokia W7:

‘In terms of spec, latest murmurings suggest that the Nokia W7 will feature a WVGA display, Qualcomm QSD8250 chipset, Windows Phone 7 OS and an 8-megapixel camera. This is reported to be the first device to hit the market, coming sometime in late 2011.

The Nokia W8, a Windows reboot of the Nokia N8, will be the flagship handset, featuring a dual core Qualcomm CPU and Adreno 320 GPU, as well as a 12-megapixel shooter. The Nokia W8 is expected to get a release date in early 2012, possibly Q2.’

iPhone Battery Issues and Solutions

The iPhone 4S battery-life car-crash may not actually be fixed by the iOS 5.0.1 update! Some users are even complaining that it’s worse than before! Has Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) made a mess of the first OTA update? Many users are still reporting or complaying rotten-to-the-core power performance.

Apple has released iOS 5.0.1, an update to its mobile OS that fixes a series of issues that drained the iPhone’s Owners began reporting that the phone was exhausting its battery at a prodigious rate, with some claiming that their batteries were losing 1% of their power every few minutes battery, almost immediately after the launch of the iPhone 4S.

iOS 5.0.1 is the first update to Apple’s iOS 5, increased performance, which brought the notifications tray, and iCloud to the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

Apple eventually figured out that there were bugs in iOS 5 that were causing the battery drain and enlisted developers to help them find the bug.

On November 2, Apple admitted that iOS 5 had battery performance issues and admitted that the company would fix the problem with iOS 5.0.1.Apple has released several betas of the updated OS in the last week.

5.0.1. adds multitouch gestures to the original iPad, fixes iCloud bugs and improves voice recognition for Australian iPhone users in addition to fix the problem. This is the first OS update available both via iTunes and over-the-air.
