Telenor successfully launches Career Management Workshop In universities across Pakistan

Sweden’s Tele2 and Telenor have this morning announced plans to jointly build an LTE based network through a new joint-venture company. The new company will be responsible for network construction and sharing of spectrum for mobile communication and plans to start offering commercial services by the end of 2010.

“We are proud that Sweden is one of the first countries in the world with 4G network for the entire population. For our customers this means improved coverage for voice calls across the country and a network for mobile internet with speeds that will be 10-15 times faster than today. With this partnership, we can ensure a cost-efficient investment and continue to develop affordable offerings while we continue to compete for the customers,” said Niclas Palmstierna, CEO Tele2 Sweden.

Tele2 and Telenor will be equal partners in the joint venture. The agreement also comprises spectrum sharing in the 900MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands, creating conditions for a nation-wide LTE network in Sweden.

The launch of high-speed mobile internet services based on LTE-technology is expected in the end of 2010, or when mobile devices (modems) become available on the market.

” The shift from fixed to mobile communication has been a relatively slow process in Sweden. Access to next generation mobile networks will accelerate the usage of mobile services. By combining and thereby obtaining more leverage out of possible assets, such as frequencies, any market participant have the opportunity to improve on positions generated from using wholly owned assets only,” said Katja Ruud, Research Director at Gartner.

In 2013, the operators expect 99 percent of the Swedish population to have access to mobile internet at speeds of up to 80 Mbit/s in rural areas and up to 150 Mbit/s in urban areas. The roll-out includes an extension of the GSM network by 30-50 percent, resulting in better indoor and outdoor coverage on mobile voice communication.

Mobilink, the country’s market leader in cellular communication services and a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom, has announced its complete support and participation in the upcoming nationwide campaign against Polio. This support activity will include a public service SMS broadcast to inform more than 7 million subscribers in 48 high-risk districts across Pakistan, about the need to vaccinate their children ahead of the upcoming polio round. Mobilink is the only cellular service provider in Pakistan which has shown support for this great initiative for eradicating Polio. According to Omar Manzur, Director Corporate Social Responsibility and PR, Mobilink, “Health-care is an essential part of our CSR philosophy and Mobilink is committed to taking the lead to support genuine initiatives that are of national significance. Through this anti-polio drive, which has been endorsed by PTA as well, we want to emphasize the critical role of child-health in the development of a healthy society.” Other eminent partners who have joined the Ministry of Health, UNICEF and WHO in the drive against polio include the National Highways, Motorway Police, the National Database and Registration Authority and Islamabad Traffic Police.

[Via Business Week] Asia-Pacific mobile subscriber growth dropped down by 21 percent in the fourth quarter 2008, with Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Philippines hit particularly hard, reports Business Week, citing a report prepared by Informa Telecoms and Media, a research firm. Research report suggests that this was lowest growth rate in seven quarters, and the trend has been witnessed throughout the region with somewhat similar manner. The region’s operators added just 68.7 million new subscribers, the researchers said. Some of the fastest-growing mobile markets - Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines - were hit particularly hard. Moreover, globally, subscriptions fell 15% to 162 million in Q4, and growth also slowed markedly in Europe, North America and Latin America, Informa said. The quarter is usually the strongest in the year because of the Christmas holiday. The global recession is the main factor in the slowdown, but market saturation also contributed. By the end of 2008, there were just under 4 billion active mobile subscriptions globally - a 58% penetration rate, Informa said. EMEA, where the penetration rate is 38%, proved relatively resilient.

Rehman Malik the interior minister of Pakistan today in a press conference threaten that we may block the sms service of Pakistan. He threaten that the public should not used this service to defame the personalities or in other bad purpose to make fun of leaders. He also reported that these services are also being used by the terrorist to conduct various illegal activities. The president of AML sheikh rasheed condemn his decision and said that it will not be a wise decision to block this technology

What is a website bounce rate?

Google Analytics defines bounce rate as:
“The percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren’t relevant to your visitors.”

This mean “bounce rate” is an important measure of your website’s effectiveness. As this mean if people are coming to your site either from front page and from other page and then leave your site without going any deep or browsing any other link . It is really very important to retain your website visitors to browse different contents on your website. This may determine how is first impression of your website to your new visitors  is it catchy enough for them to browse other parts of your site or you have a poor navigation system?  A bad first impression, or irrelevant content, can chase away a visitor and stop them from freely investigating the full content of your site.

So at this point we can assume that a high bounce rate is bad but a low bounce rate is a positive sign that your visitors are engaging and exploring your website. Getting users engaged with your content can result with a sale, subscription, bookmark and return visit. One of best ways to increase reader engagement is to make sure that your site architecture interlinks related content and displays them in a way which encourages the user to click around. If the first article doesn’t result in a subscription, the second might.

How one can check the bounce rate for a website? well this is really a very easy task just sign in to Google web tool called Analytics, and insert the Google code into your website. Now along with many other website statistics you can keep an eye on your website bounce rate. After knowing your bounce rate you can try different experiments to make some changes in your website and an see the results over a defined period of time and can increase your website quality and visibility.  So this mean if you have a good quality it mean a low  bounce rate. There is a little difference to a blog and a commercial website as with blogs some time regular visitors just come to the front page and see if any thing interesting to them is there and they may not go into deep to look any other content.
