New Weezer album, Raditude, will be released Nov 3rd. Some interesting collabs with Jermaine Dupri, Polow Da Don, and Dr. Luke. "Can't Stop Partying" is kind've a 'fun' song, but I can't quite fully get into it, because it sounds like they're trying too hard to be cute/ironic with a Cobra Starship or 3OH!3 style production and their Weezy lyrics. "I'm your Daddy", Cuomo teams with Dr. Luke! Although not entirely as epic as I hoped, at 2:00 it gets pretty awesome, I wonder if Dr. Luke wrote the chorus at that part. Ultimately it's "Put me back together" that is probably my favorite song. Preview here:

The auditions of season 6 of "So you think you can dance" have wrapped up and now we're just waiting for the final 20. It was a struggle to stay interested last season, but this season there are so many incredible dancers. First there's Billy Bell. Hard to believe he's only been dancing for 5 years. Even in the span of his first audition to his last, he seemed to have improved exponentially. We found an old clip of his almost 2 years ago:

So definitely one of our faves. Our other favorite is Pauline Mata. There is no question she should've made it last year. I feel like if there weren't so many fucking retards as judges she would've been. I'd be VERY surprised if she didn't make it this year even though she sprained her ankle in Vegas. She's one of the most versatile dancers this season. Here are a couple clips showing her different styles (and these are almost 2 years ago):

Addendum: we heard Billy Bell won't be competing this season due to an illness. We are seriously bummed out and wish him a speedy recovery and hope he decides to do next season.

Although the lyrics may be corny, this is otherwise such a perfect pop song. John Hill (prod. Santigold), Sam Endicott (The Bravery) and Shakira really nailed it.

Carles & Tao Lin

"Jesus Christ" (the indie band) is the sound project of Carles the mind behind Hipster Runoff, and poet laureate/novelist Tao Lin. I think this is mostly the work of Carles. This song is probably the best thing I've heard in a long time. It's funny (the part about the personality disorder), innovative, beautiful and makes you want to dance.

An excerpt from Tao Lin's poem "some of my happiest moments in life occur on AOL instant messenger", which is such a beautiful, dark and sad poem, is on it as well. I was pleasantly surprised to hear it since it is one of my favorite poems. My favorite part is when Tao Lin recites his poem (and I like how he takes his time, not rushing it) and the melodic baseline comes in. The timing is so perfect. Some have compared ITRWYU to M83, but this is way more epic than "we own the sky." My other favorite part is the "lazer" (that's the only way I can describe it) leading into the beat kicking in. I love this song.

I really like this duo. Kids at the Bar would probably be getting way more gigs if they lived somewhere else. Their sound kind've reminds me of earlier Designer Drugs, but they got their own thing going on.

We're still in shock. He was such a game changer in music and seemed like a really good person.

This is an old interview with DJ AM. It's pretty depressing how rough his childhood was and how it affected his life.

We will miss him greatly. RIP.

How amazing is True Blood? From regenerating hymens to vampire targeted suicide bombers on last night's episode, this show is killing it. It was cool to see Heather Lee as the asian vampire hanging out with Jason Stackhouse at the Texas vampire nest.

Looks like vampires are competing in sporting events now. Should they be banned?

Another season of ABDC is upon us. I still think Kaba Modern got robbed in the first season. Should've at least made the finals. Did I mention that before? I think I did. Wonder if any crew this season will be as clean with their iso's as Kaba Modern, or have the creativity of Quest.
