(Forum) help what size props do i need

hi im restoring a 44 inch waveney life boat fiberglass hull 12v 7ah battery the boat is quite heavy runnung 2 x 550 motors with 2.9-1 gearboxes can any one please suggest what size props i need currently it has approx 30mm 3 blade props (plastic) useless i need some to give me some ummph thanks for your help dan

Hi Guy's, way back in Nineteen Hundred and a long while ago, when we restored our Fireboat, we came across a similar problem with nets, then suddenly had a brainstorm, I dont know if you guys are old enough to remember the old open weave Dishcloths, we bought one cut it to size, gave it a quick coating of Light Oak woodstain which left it looking like hemp, very effective looking when rolled up. A nice bit of scratch building, and looks good , and save your self some money , i scratch build every thing if i can to save money have a look at the bits on HDML REALY CHUFFED WITH THE WEAPONS and saved my self a few bob thinking about crew now ...cheers Larry...:D

The nets gave me a bit of trouble. The ones you see I made using a builders chalk line,some 4mm heat shrink,super glue,a simple jig to stretch the lines taught,bamboo skewer and a thin wash or humbrol matt black to colour. if you make a jig to create consistent loops, superglue, then use heat shrink it looks spot on. stretch on your jig then add the cross lines with a dab of glue at each intersect

Hi Tijn , I would use a 400 motor , it will give you better planing speed , and don't forget its you on the sticks .....Larry..
