Shortly after a rumor of a possible love affair with the british actor Eddie Redmayne, Karlie Kloss is now said to have cancelled all her New York Fashion Week shows. The bomb was launched by CNN’s Alina Cho, who tweeted: “HEARING: @KarlieKloss cancelled all catwalk appearances in NY for a big opportunity…”
But what big opportunity could this be to take Miss Kloss away from her national runways, which happen to be some of the world’s most sonnant? Those who speculate talk about an exclusive contract with a big european house. Something similar to Lara Stone’s arrangement with Calvin Klein. Whatever this great opportunity might be, it didn’t exist yesterday when Karlie was having dinner with the designer Jason Wu. Afterwards, they both were tweeting about their night and one of the young designer’s tweets read he could not “wait to see @karliekloss and @missjourdandunn for their #Fall2012 fittings tomorrow!”.
If this rumor turns out to be true, Karlie’s absence on NYFW runways will be shortly noticed.

It were her imperfections that got her latest publicity job. The Italian designer Liu Jo chose Kate Moss for the brand’s Spring/Summer 2012 campaign for set of imperfections: the failed relationships, the scandals she got herself into and also her most recent “flaw” – the age. However the campaign mood is not related at all with Kate’s prevoious excessive lifestyle.

Shot in a bucolic set by Mario Sorrenti, Kate’s campaign photos show a trully relaxed, delicate and feminine woman at home. Not so charming and delicate were the lines written in Liu Jo’s website about Mrs Hince. Although the intended message was to grab Kate’s human side to allow women to further identify with her, it read: “Courage is necessary to remain a style icon” and “to emerge from scandals stronger than ever, to tread the runway daring to show your body after your teen years, to forget a great love, to find the man of your life and marry him with an intimate ceremony”.
Clearly, the relationship with Pete Doherty and 2005 “Cocaine Kate” scandal were the main topics there. The part referring to the model’s 38-year-old body is probably not making justice to her enviable figure.
Liu Jo’s text, perhaps concealing some earlier lack of tact, ended describing Kate as: “Full of imperfections that make her perfect: The most envied as well as the most human among all her colleagues”.

Karolina Kurkova, supermodel and Victoria’s Secret Angel, has returned to the red carpet, well recovered from her surgery. Last night, at the amfAR Gala in New York, she showed her glory days are back, wearing a midnight blue dress fit for an olympian godess.
Karolina’s surgery was due to thyroid issues that began to upset her a few years ago. Her overactive thyroid brought her extra 30 pounds and menopause symptoms at the age of 24. Other unpleasant side-effects came along too. In a recent interview, the model spoke about her condition: “I was 24 and going through menopause – that was one of my side-effects. I thought I was going crazy. I was having panic attacks every minute and I didn’t know what was happening, because I’ve been a healthy person. I’ve exercised all my life. I’ve always eaten well and taken care of myself”.
At the moment, the 27-year-old woman has clearly lost all the weight she’s gained and looks completely recovered from whatever health problem she was through. Her slender frame is also creating a buzz of a possible exagerated weight loss. The Daily Mail asked nutricionist Helen Money her opinion on this subject: “Karolina does appear to have lost weight but to me it looks like her muscle tone has improved. She may have been working out more (or perhaps she changed her style of excising). It does sound like she uses her calories wisely – spends them on foods high in essential vitamins and minerals rather than junk food. Her eyes and skin reflect this”. So, even nutritionally approved, Karolina Kurkova is healthy, in great physical shape and looks like she’s at a very good stage in life!

Not known for her modesty, Naomi Campbell said she would never call herself a Supermodel. Reflecting on her atribulated and successful career, and charity work, Naomi showed that there is a humble woman hidden underneath her strong and powerful skin.

For the past 20 years, this beautiful woman covered the most sonant fashion bibles, catwalked for the greatest designers and starred in the campaigns of big brands. All worthy of the supermodel she says she’s not, arguing she has no “superhuman powers”. The truth is her ups and downs gained superhuman proportions when one looks at all the press waves they both generated.

At the age of 41, she is not stepping outside the modelling world. Her amazing endurance keeps her going: “I still love what I do”, she told Harper’s Bazaar. “It’s a new challenge to see how people can change your look. I like words like transformation, reinvention, and chameleon. Because one word I don’t like is predictable”. Dynamic and fierce, Naomi is here to stay, reinventing herself each day.

The only down side of her maturity is the need to a more strict diet and exercise regimen. Her metabolism is not the same of 1999, when she told Playboy: “I never diet. I smoke. I drink now and then. I never work out. I work very hard and I am worth every cent”. Now, she admits she diets: “For me, carbs are a treat” and looks after her skin doing “everything I can to keep my skin elasticated”.
After all, no “super” title works as an eternal youth serum. Staying in great shape and as stunning as Naomi at 40′s does require work.

Douglas Perrett, the man who collected polaroids of today’s most famous models with no make-up on, is about to launch a book. Wild Things is nothing but a reunion of the casting director’s polaroids from the past 10 years. That being the case, it shows the very beginning of some of the world’s most beautiful women’s careers.
Posing with their faces clean, the very young (and still frightned because of all the excitment of a starting modelling carrer) selves of Miranda Kerr, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Joan Smalls, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Arizona Muse, Candice Swanepoel and Chanel Iman are there to prove these lovely young women have grown from already charming young girls.

Explaing the title and purpose of the book, Perrett said: “Wild Things is a hash tag we use on our twitter feed for every model we feature; a revolving door of the new faces looking for their big break in New York City. The book is a catalogue of my favourite go-sees from 2000 – 2010. Polaroids are a dated archiving system. Now everything is digital and laser prints, takes a little longer and is not as eye-pleasing”.
Revealing he remembers every single face that crossed his path and camera, the expert in models looks for “personality, a connection to the camera and to myself” when he meets a model for the first time. Admitting his book’s most special models are the one’s who didn’t make it and left no memory, he also recognizes the popular Joan Smalls, who surprised him, as one of his favorites.

Karlie Kloss has a big wish for the upcoming London Fashion Week. The young American model is longing for showcasing the designs of Christopher Bailey for Burberry on the catwalk. As she said: “I haven’t done London Fashion Week in a while, would love to get back there soon. I’d love to walk in Burberry this season; it’s one show I’ve never done!” This statement reinforces the fact that the 19-year-old girl is already a very experienced woman on catwalking issues. So, this particular Burberry show is the missing piece of her big puzzle.

Being such a veteran catwalk model, Karlie is already giving some survival tips to fellow less experienced models: “I am the queen of snacks! I always bring snacks and food with me backstage,” she told Modelinia. “Ask any of the girls, if you need something I usually have it in my purse – I have just about everything in there, short of the kitchen sink! [Also] I absolutely cannot travel without my notebook. I love to sketch and write while I travel and explore new places”. Travelling as much as she does, this successful model could be thinking of publishing a book with her own opions on some of her favorite places!

And she also uses her love for exploring as an excuse to exercise: “I’ve found that running is one of the best ways to explore a new city!”. Keen on a healthy approach to life, Karlie tries do eat right and stay fit all year round, avoiding pre-Fashion Week stresses: “I strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle year round. It’s not just about being in shape for Fashion Week, I am travelling and shooting year round; the shows are just one aspect of this job. I think it’s important to find a healthy and sustainable way to keep your body and mind in shape. For me that means bringing my tennis shoes wherever I travel and going for a run whenever I get the chance”. So young and mature, Karlie has it all to go through a long and fulfilled career.

On yesterday models  launched a rights group ahead of New York Fashion Week to seek better workplace standards. Sara Ziff who has  modeled since the age of  14, founded the nonprofit Model Alliance because she said she has seen the industry disregard child labour laws, evade financial transparency and tolerate sexual abuse in the workplace. She is introducing  regulations that will give models backstage privacy to stop unauthorised nude photos and a program to provide confidential advice on dealing with sexual harassment.

Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA, is working with the alliance during Fashion Week .They plan on  implementing  a rule that clears the backstage area of photographers and non-essential staff when models have to change clothes. The alliance is also creating a bill of rights to empower models to demand fair treatment and is establishing a confidential service offering advice on how to deal with sexual harassment and abuse.

“There’s nothing funny about a work force that is overwhelmingly young, female , impoverished and they are working for some of fashion’s wealthiest, most powerful brands” says Sara Ziff.
