But we haven’t imagined fasion designers make it up with them, even make us addicted to them !

Whatever it’s the pink and gold sandals from Manoush ,the more sportwears one from Gisele or the extravagant one from Melissa… We just resist to not begin a collection !

Summer vacation, for example, is dedicated to everything having to do with well-being.

It could be a budding new romance, or one that comes to an end and leaves us with a sigh of relief (after all, it was really time to get rid of him!).

It could also be a trip to an exotic faraway land that incites the envy of all our friends, or just finding a small field in which to pitch a tent and relax in the tall grass.

It could be leaving the rest of world behind in the seclusion of a Corsican sheepfold or become a social butterfly while jet setting to parties all over the world.

The beach or the mountains; hot or cold.

The depths or the heights; an airplane or a boat. 

A glittering gold bikini or a warm winter coat (faux fur, of course!). A book for summer reading, a dictionary-sized universal romance novel weighing almost three tons that often ends up as a Japanese headrest under a towel. 

Lotion or oil; an oversized towel or a sarong. A helmet or a wide-brimmed straw hat. 

Blond or brunette; a French manicure or red nail polish. Short or long, straight or frizzy…

We could go on forever but basically, this is summer vacation!

This summer it is out with lax sun cream application.

Everyone knows the risks, so now it is time to do something about it.

And there are no excuses given the wide range of sun creams available.

A little background information: since the 70s sun creams have always been perfumed with monoï and coconut oil.

Yes, it is the holidays but looking like fried bacon and smelling like Club Med is going a bit far!

Fortunately companies have made a huge effort to develop gentler and more modern fragrances.

The sun dehydrates your skin, so you really must choose a sun cream with maximum hydration.

Too much is better than not enough: that is the golden rule.

And it won’t reduce your tan; in fact it will help you to keep that golden glow for longer, whilst looking after your skin.

Some sun creams offer additional bonuses like slimming or anti-aging actions.

Maybe these little extras will encourage those who are still reluctant to cream up!

So, you have been warned, when out in the sun, PROTECT YOURSELF!

As for make up this summer, it is all about colour, and the winners are: turquoise and blue.

They will suit you whatever your complexion.

But stick to one shade to steer clear of the cockatoo effect (birds belong in the trees, not your eyes).

And the hot look for lips is guava with maximum hydration, especially on the centre of your lips, for a fresh and sexy smile.

Here are the 4 hair commandments for luscious locks when the sun is shining.

Number one,

PROTECT IT! For frizzy, coloured or dry hair opt for an oil treatment.

Now, don’t scream! The greasy appearance will disappear after you have applied it because the oil will be absorbed by your hair.

For normal locks go for a hair milk, which has a lighter texture and is better suited to this hair type and its needs. Fine hair and/or greasy scalps also need protecting, but with a hair day cream.

Number two,

The principle of protecting your skin and hair from UV rays at the beach also applies when you are out and about in town.

So, just like lipstick, at any time of the day apply a hair day cream as a final touch like you would any other styling product.

Number three,

Hydration is the key. The foursome of sea, salt, sun and wind has a devastating effect on hair. B

etween each wash, treat the lengths with a nourishing mask. This is the secret to providing the respect that your hair deserves.

Number four,

Forget all the tricks your grandmother taught you like that thing with the hot towel, or olive oil, or lemon juice….

All you need to achieve good results is to follow a regular hair care routine and above all use products chosen or suggested by the person who knows your hair best: your hair care consultant.

Leave the mask to work its magic for the recommended time. After all, you have time while you are on holiday!

Marion Cointot is the winner of “Concours de Style”

1- Could you introduce your studies to us ?

After a double diploma of stylism and textile design at Lisaa, I worked for designer Jerôme L’Huillier. This rewarding experience in a small firm, and the different professional trainings I made during my studies pushed me to apply to bigger structures. Then I joigned Christian Lacroix house as a collection assistant and then I worked fo Paule Ka, as a stylist assistant.

After that, I had the desire to launch my own brand. Preparing this new adventure, I worked in free-lance as a photo stylist.
Recently, I also had the great opportunity to participate to a project for the Mariinsky in St Petersburg: I have been costume designer for an opera of Maurice Ravel.

2 - How do you start thinking of a collection ?

My clothing does not follow trends, that is only my envies which guide me. At first, there is always one or several ideas that I develop. Then shapes come and I chose fabrics and colours.

3 - What are you inspired about ?

Life. It is a question of look. It can be a snapshot gleaned in movies I see, people around me, the music I listen or a book that I liked. I think it is through this combination of images and situations that ideas come on my piece of paper.

4 - Which fashion designer do you love ?

I am a fan of Dries Van Noten. He is a colour magician. In his creations, ethnic and comtemporary  coexist very intelligently. I also admire Nicolas Ghesquière for his visionary look and Madame Coco Chanel.

5 - Who is the woman who wears « Marion Cointot » clothes ?

A free woman.

6 - If you have to qualify your collection in 3 words ?

Elegant, sophisticated and refined.

7-Which celebrity would you dress up ?

Maybe Jennifer Connelly for her daring ward-robe.
