I wore this outfit on the first day of Alt Summit. While I busted out some of my favorite dresses for the evening parties, I wanted to be comfortable during the day. There’s nothing that walks the line of professional and comfort like the blazer / jeans combination. And to add a little flair, I went for it with a bright red jacket and matching lips. Next to a blush pink tank and some low key jewelry, this is a look I’ll definitely re-create.

Why, hello there. I am officially back in town after an amazing week at Alt Summit. I met some amazing new friends, learned a ton and had an absolute blast. I’m still recovering from all the excitement and will be back to blogging tomorrow.

I can’t tell you how many time a week I wish I could plan another wedding. Of course I’d marry the same guy, I just have so many ideas for a great ceremony and reception. One of my ideas is for wedding party gifts. Have you heard of Plum Pretty Sugar Lounagerie? Well, whether you’re planning a wedding or not, you need to check them out! They have some of the cutest sleepwear / bedding / curtains / haberdashery I have ever seen. I love their playful fabrics. I’ll tell you, they’re pretty smart, too. Because they’re marketing to brides. They package their sleepwear and ties into sets for your bridesmaids and groomsmen. I don’t think Husband would have ever gone for these ties (he’s a no-tie kinda guy, and definitely not a pink, floral bow tie fan), but I swear these would be some of the cutest pictures ever. If you’re planning a wedding, you should totally do it!

Although I am hanging out this week in chilly Salt Lake City, I can’t help but think about Spring fashion. I’m already over sweaters and due to Dallas’ mild winter I haven’t even worn half of mine. One of my favorite designers is Amy Smilovic, the woman behind the Tibi brand. Her clothing is flirty, but sophisticated. She doesn’t shy away from ruffles or feminine lines, but it’s always done with a modern twist. Each collection’s color palettes are also some of my favorite. She can pull off bold without being loud. And soft without being bland. Truth be told, I’d love a closet full of Tibi.

I don’t know how you feel about home tours, but I love them. My appreciation for good architecture combined with a high level of snoopiness makes them a perfect weekend activity. I was very excited to hear about the upcoming Dallas Modern Home Tour. On Saturday, January 28, 2012 (11 am – 6 pm), in its inaugural year, the self-guided tour will feature ten progressive and contemporary homes, including the one featured in this post. Now, modern doesn’t just mean their furniture is from Design Within Reach. These homes are pushing the boundaries of design, addressing issues from sustainability to ergonomics by incorporating recycled materials, rainwater collection systems and natural ventilation while maintaining the clean lines, simple shapes and lightness associated with the Modern architecture movement.
