Various celebs made their way over to the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to pay homage to the noteworthy 70′s punk rock era. Naturally, the theme lured many skeptics of hollywood’s ability to adapt to the raw, dark, and eerie essence of punk. However, the culture of fashion and punk have arguably become somewhat synonymous. Fashion has driven the image of punk with the help of groundbreaking designers such as Vienne Westwood, while punk has pushed contemporary designers and fashion enthusiasts to take risks.

Inevitably, some did fail to hit the mark, but many others managed to appropriately capture the quintessence of the hardrock era. The remaining few just seemed to be lost somewhere between punk and grunge. Some notables to leave a good impression included Sarah Jessica Parker, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lopez, Kanye West, Madonna, Cameron Diaz, and the event’s honorary chairman, Beyonce.

Beyonce channels her inner Marie Antoinette in royal attire and custom red Casadei thigh high boots for the opulent promotional shoot, directed by photographer Elle Muliarchyk. The tour will kick off in Belgrade, Serbia on April 15 and close out at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on August 3rd. The singer will travel through fifteen countries in Europe, before jetting back oversees to North America to perform in nineteen states and Canada. Starting February 6th, ticket pre-sales for the tour will be available exclusively on Beyonce’s, memebership-only, Beyhive blog.

Jennifer Hudson continued to time-stamp her career with, yet, another historical milestone. Just weeks after serenading President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their first dance at the Presidential Inaugural Ball, the Chicago native uplifted the nation with a moving rendition of “America The Beautiful” alongside the Sandy Hook Elementary School Choir.
Alicia Keys also made history as she opted to play the piano for her version of the “Star Spangled Banner”.

Both ladies looked ravishing in their ensembles for the occasion. Jennifer Hudson paired a black leather Monika Chiang turtleneck with a white L’Wren Scott pencil skirt adorned with military-style buttons. While the singer’s Saint Laurent ‘Escarpin’ pumps were certainly a lovely addition to the ensemble, the green ribbon pinned to Jennifer’s shirt stood out the most. The ribbon honored the students and teachers killed during the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Alicia Keys glowed in scarlet-hued body-con Alaïa gown with a fishtail hemline for her pre-game performance. The singer donned a lux Marina B choker  to complete her look.

The halftime show kicked off with a Pepsi sponsored hype-enduing countdown video, just before fans stormed onto the field in a frenzy. Draped in a skin clutching black leather suit by New York-base designer Rubin Singer and sky high boots by Proenza Schouler, Beyonce worked through an ensemble of her greatest hits including “Crazy in Love”, “Love on Top”, “End of Time” and “Baby Boy”. Not much to everyone’s surprise, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams jolted from the ground for a crowd pleasing performance of “Bootylicious”, “Independent Women” and “Single Ladies”. Fire glazed the air and sparks shout through the sky as an army of empowered backup dancers joined the crew for their overdue reunion. As if a high-powered performance wasn’t enough to drain the former Destiny’s Child star, Beyonce somehow composed herself for a vocally awing performance of “Halo” to close out the show. If there was one defining moment to solidify Beyonce’s iconic status, this may have been the moment.

Actor Ryan Gosling joined his Gangster Squad castmates for the LA premiere of their trilling crime film, directed by Ruben Fleischer. The Hollywood heartthrob looked dapper as usual in a light brown three-piece Gucci suit. In what would appear to be an awkward suit to the average eye, Gosling managed to pull off quite nicely by counterbalancing the lurid neutral color with the more basic white shirt and black tie. The actor completed his look with a pair of brown perforated patent-leather Lanvin shoes.

Lawrence looked absolutely stunning in this black Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2013 gown at the 2013 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. The elegantly draped gown features a sheer-infused cut-out, set between a leather sweetheart neckline and a belted waistline. The dress was a sure win for the star, who took home the award for ‘Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy’ by the end of the night.

No longer than 24-hours passed before the young actress decided to dig right back into the PG pre-fall assortment for her look at the 2013 AFI Awards. This time around, Lawrence opted for a more youthful and colorful option – choosing the metallic neon tweed dress, accented with a blacked-out mid section. The actress didn’t mind wearing the ‘Casadei for Prabal Gurung’ ankle strap mesh pumps, seen in the lookbook. The fun pink accented, white toe-cap pumps worked perfectly with the chic dress.
