Facebook Authentication Error

I release QuickReply for Messenger tweak on Cydia months ago. Suddenly, I received a bunch of emails complaining they couldn't log into their facebook cos the facebook login was showing them "An error occurred. Please try again later.".

I spent a few days tracking down the culprit and finally found out that it was because I'd enabled Sandbox mode inside App setting in facebook developer page. So to fix that, just go to facebook app development page, change Sandbox mode to disable.

Unable to Download Application

A few days ago, one of my friends asked me why he couldn't update or download new application on his iPhone - it keeps showing error " could not be downloaded at this time.".

To fix that, first go to Settings.app > General > Date & Time settings and turn off auto time setting. And then change the time to a few years ahead, save it. After that, change back to original settings. It should fix that.

I have no idea how it works. It's really funny bug on iOS I guess.

Quick Reply for Messenger

After months of trial and error, I was able to get Quick Reply for Messenger working.

If you don't know what it is, it is basically a jailbreak tweak to quick reply to facebook messenger push notifications from anywhere on your device.

It uses the old TwitkaFly UI with a new post button. It's amazing. It's available on cydia store for just $1.99, ($0.99 if you have purchased twitkafly before).

New Emoji keyboard for jailbroken iOS 5.1

Apple has developed hundreds of new emojis but its 5.1 keyboard doesn't include those emojis. So I developed a new jailbreak tweak to enable that feature. It's available on Cydia store for just $0.99. You can use emojis keyboard just like native keyboard besides apps with root permission such as iFile or Cydia.

Head over to cydia and search emoji2 to download it while it's hot!!

MMKeyboard for iOS 5.1.1

I've updated MMKeyboard for iOS 5.1.1. There are slight changes in key positions compared to 5.0 due to a keyboard cache bug; not refreshing certain keys. There might be some workaround for that. But I figured it is much easier to just change key positions.

UDID-protected cydia repo

A lot of people have been asking me about that. So, I wrote some scripts real quick to create a udid-protected repo.

When you add a repo link on cydia, cydia will search for Release and Packages.bz2 or Packages.gzip. So, we just added .htaccess to redirect Release to Release.php and Packages.* to package.php. Inside those php, we check if the requested udid is valid. If it is, just redirect it back to required file.

Zawgyi keyboard showing ??? instead of letters

I'm getting lot of reports about this, so decided to make a blog post.

Why?

It's because you have the wrong font package. You must use "Zawgyi iOS 4.3 font"

Solution :

You must remove your current zawgyi font and install "Zawgyi iOS 4.3 font"

1: Firstly, you cannot remove zawgyi font directly. You need to install "Zawgyi Font iOS Uninstaller" first. This step is really important, otherwise you might end up restoring your device.

After installing uninstaller, remove zawgyi font.

2: After removing, install "Zawgyi iOS 4.3 Font".

NOTE: I don't expect any issues, but I am not responsible if anything happens.

Zawgyi keyboard for jailbroken iOS-5

After tweaking around with iOS keyboard for 3 days, I successfully implemented zawgyi keyboard for iOS-5 users. It will replace Czech keyboard with zawgyi keyboard. It works on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

It doesn't depend on winterboard. It just uses mobilesubstrate. So *** RESPRING *** using SBSettings after installing.

glOrtho Error : You will need to change "Makefile" of NiSimple* inside "Samples/NiSimple*".

Change to USED_LIBS += glut GL

MIT Entrance Interview Experience

Today, I went for a MIT interview. So I thought I should write a post about my experience to let you guys know the process.

First, as soon as I got into the room, my EC asked me about my personal details such as
1. where are you from
2. which school are you attending now and etc.

Then, asked me some random questions.

Here are some of the questions

1: Why MIT?
2: Why should MIT select you out of thousands of applicants?
3: What was my biggest achievement?
4: What do I know about MIT?
5: My favorite thing about MIT
6: Any cool things I do which aren't mentioned in application form.

After asking me a bunch of questions, she asked me if I had anything I'd love to know about MIT.

It went pretty well. By the way, there isn't a question guide-line for them to follow. So, questions might not be the same for every interviewers. We talked about 20 minutes in total.

iPhone with broken ringer/mute switch

If your iPhone's ringer switch is broken, it's totally a pain in the neck. Luckily, if your phone is jailbroken, you can use a tweak called "RingerSwitchTool" from bigboss repo made by limneos to surpass that problem. Once you install that, you can change its settings inside Settings.app.

red iPhone 4

I bought the red parts online and got them 2 weeks later. It took me around 1.5 hour to disassemble and assemble probably because it was my first time. Thanks to ifixit guys for the great tutorial. The only big trouble I had was that I lost some main screws. :/

Uninstall Xcode completely using Terminal

It will take some time, so, sit back and relax while it's doing the job.

fix, Perl locale warning on OSX

If perl scripts issue a warning that the locale is not set properly, the warning will look similar to this:

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.

are supported and installed on your system.

Run Facebook.app on iPad

There are news everywhere how Facebook embedded iPad version secretly, and yet haven't made it public.

But, if you have a jailbroken iOS device, you can use it now.

Go to /var/mobile/Applications/Facebook.app/Info.plist using iFile or whatsoever.

Change UIDeviceFamily's integer to 2 and restart Facebook.app

That's it. Enjoy the iPad app :)

TwitkaFly for iPhone and iPad

It's been a while since I started this project aka TwitkaFly. It's been quite a good ride; lot of learning and frustrations. But, now it's in a state where I could say "Ready to launch".

TwitkaFly allows users to tweet and reply tweet from SpringBoard on their jailbroken devices. One of its features, Quick Tweet, is fully compatible with all devices under any firmwares. But, Quick Reply is only compatible on iOS higher than 4.0. It might also work on firmware lower than 4.0, yet unfortunately I don't have a device lower than 4.0 to test on.

Well, there are a few ways to draw a simple straight line in UIView subviews.

The easiest way might be using a UIView, and do the trick.

let's say you want a horizontal straight line and 2 pixels thick;

It's basically superb for making a sign-in screen or something like that.
