Jennifer Garner and Dakota Fanning Staring In New YouTube Series

Dakota Fanning and Jennifer Garner are among the celebrities that will star on the new online series called WIGS. Premiering on Monday, May 14, the web channel will bring original scripted series, documentaries, and short films in which will star only female leads.

WIGS stands for Where It Gets Interesting and is created by Rodrigo Garcia (In Treatment, Albert Knobs) and Jon Avnet (Black Swan, Risky Business). Among the celebrities staring in this new web series, look out for Virginia Madsen, Julia Stiles, America Ferrera, Jennifer Beals, Maura Tierney, Stephen Moyer, Michael C. Hall or Alfred Molina.

Every week we’ll get to see an 8 to 10 minutes short movie telling women stories. The producers aim to bring high-quality shows to one of the most accessible platforms available worldwide. This is just one-step into what will most likely be the future of entertainment.

Fashion’s biggest event — the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — or that night when the fashion industry’s biggest players are out in their full glory, the celebrity attendees are in their best shape and the fashion is often jaw-dropping got New York buzzing on Monday night.

This year’s gala, titled “Impossible Conversations”, is a tribute to the influence of late designer Elsa Schiaparelli on Miuccia Prada. The exhibition, on view from May 10 through August 19, 2012, explores the striking affinities between these two Italian designers from different eras. Inspired by Miguel Covarrubias’s satirical “Impossible Interviews” for Vanity Fair in the 1930s, curators Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton orchestrate conversations between these iconic women to suggest new readings of the designers’ most innovative work.

This being said, let’s see which celebrities managed to steal the spotlight on the red carpet at the 2012 Costume Gala.

A Scream Worth $120 million

The famous painting entitled “The Scream” by Norwegian painter Edvard Munch just became the most expensive painting sold at an auction, after it fetched no more than $119.9 million. The expressionist painting was sold recently during a Sotheby’s auction to an anonymous buyer, thus also making it the eighth most expensive painting in the world. Last year the Royal Family of Qatar bought Paul Cezanne’s “The Card Players” for a whooping $250 million, making it the most expensive painting in the whole world.

“The Scream” is actually a pastel, just one of the four pieces with the same subject painted by Edvard Munch. The other three are owned by museums in Norway and two of them have been stolen in a couple of very high – profile art thefts, but were recovered later.

However, the piece sold on May 2 is the only one that has a poem written by Munch on the frame. The artist wrote about what inspired him to paint the famous piece.

“I was walking along a path with two friends – the sun was setting – suddenly the sky turned blood red – I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence – there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city. My friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety – and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.”

10 Reasons Why We Will Truly Miss House M.D.

Eight years, 177 episodes, lots of awards and nominations, raging reviews and millions of viewers worldwide. It had to end at some point. The last episode (ever!) of ‘House M.D.‘ will air on May 21, so we have some time to prepare ourselves. Still, for the true fans of the medical drama this counts as the end of an era.

For eight awesome seasons we got the chance to take a peek at the great mind of an antisocial, brilliant, misanthropic medical genius while he dealt with medical mysteries, loss, personal relationships and pain. His motto, ‘Everybody Lies’, soon became a catchphrase, his scruffy look became a trademark and his often crazy pranks made millions of people laugh uncontrollably in front of the TV. This being said, here are 10 reasons why we are really going to miss the show.

1. Greg

Ruthless, uncompromising, confident, sometimes brutally honest, Gregory House isn’t your typical lovable character, but you can’t argue that he has a lot of charm and qualities. His ability to put people in their place with unreserved observations, his deductive skills and sense of observation, his power in dealing with the amount of pain he has to endure every day are only some few examples. We are also going to miss his often ridiculous games and his ability to push everyone to their limits and make them face their fears.

2. The Wilson/House dynamic

Although their relationship has been sorely tested on many occasions, they managed to stay close friends. Wilson is the only one who truly knows how to deal with House’s stubbornness and is considered the only irreplaceable supporting character from the show. Wilson and Greg help and support each other, often in unconventional ways. And the ‘frat boy’ pranks – we’re really gonna miss those. These two share a fine, fine bromance.

3. Thirteen

Thirteen is one of the most interesting characters from ‘House M.D.’, which Olivia Wilde portrayed beautifully. Remy is insanely hot, secretive, bisexual and suffers from a neurodegenerative genetic disorder – how can someone not love her? We’re also going to miss her relationship with House – they share a unique and odd bond.

4. Taub’s love life

Taub’s love life was always complicated as hell. Which led to lots of funny scenes during the show’s last seasons. First with his marriage, then with his dating and finally with the result of his dating – two adorable daughters, born almost at the same time, who pretty much share the same name. Oh, and have different mothers. How could we forget to mention that?

5. Episode intros

One of the things we love about the show are the intros – often beautifully filmed, those few minutes when we first see the future patient can be magical. And let’s not forget the theme song – I’m sure the fans can’t listen to Massive Attack anymore without thinking about ‘House M.D.’.

6. The medicine

There are tons of medical terms we had no idea existed before we started watching this show. The complex symptoms and puzzles always baffle us. Watch with caution though – the show might make you a tiny bit hypochondriac.

7. Chase’s body

Yes, this had to be mentioned.

8. Foreman’s facial expression

Just by watching him it’s hard to tell if he’s happy, sad or angry. His face always looks the same. We find that refreshing.

9. House’s clinic patients

While his ‘serious’ patients have complex illnesses, House’s clinic patients often face silly or funny medical problems. And the way House deals with them is almost always epic.

10. Musical moments

One of the many things that make the show so awesome. House played the piano and later the guitar, we got to see the lovely doctors singing karaoke and the creepy ‘Forget Your Troubles Come On Get Happy’ moment will always have a special place in our hearts.

The Fantasy Art Drawings of a Romanian Artist

It’s not easy to affirm yourself as an artist nowadays, especially if you are a young one, but this girl is determined to. We are talking about Andreea S., an eighteen year old student from Romania who developed from an early age an extraordinary artistic sense. “An aspiring animator and film-maker” as she describes herself, she has been drawing since she was able to hold a pencil, before she was able to talk or walk properly. For her this was, and still is a way of expressing her feelings and thoughts.

Curious about the process of creating such amazing paintings and drawings, I asked her if she follows certain steps or rituals before developing a new piece. “There isn’t a lot of thought process before a drawing or painting, it’s very spontaneous and instinctual, but when it’s finished, I find that they have a deeper meaning. Obviously, I have themes that I like to explore, such as childhood, nightmares, nature, death and myths.”

Andreea tells us that she finds inspiration in everything, random moments and emotions but mostly stories. Fairytales, myths and legends, films and literature or personalities like Tim Burton, Salvador Dali and George Melier are other sources of inspiration for this young artist. Having the ability of creating an entire story based on a simple doodle, her drawings feature characters transposed from the stories that she invents.

The artist intends to transmit something new through her art, an inspiration for others to live and think differently and not be afraid to look deep into themselves. Mostly she tries to show people that it’s okay to still dream, it’s okay to be childish, it’s okay to like stories, it’s okay to let go of reality and reasons.

Currently she’s working on a series called „The Sleepwalking Children”, in black and white, planning to turn it into a short animated film in the near future, but her long-term goal is to become an animator.

Below you can take a look at more of Andreea’s paintings and also her room as she painted it herself. It seems like even she is detached from a fairytale. She raises a question that concerns all of us: is it worth growing up and losing the innocence of childhood?
