With winter in full swing and the ground covered in snow kids are having tons of fun building snowmen, sliding, making snow angels, and having snowball fights. When kids finally come inside for an afternoon of playing in the snow their coat, hat, mittens, and boots are cold, wet, and covered in snow. When it comes to their coat, hat, and mittens you can easily dry them quickly by putting them in the dryer. When it comes to drying their boots it takes a lot longer. I used to put my children's wet winter boots in front of a heater, but it took forever for them to dry. Sometimes they weren't even dry the next day. That is what I used to do until I found out about boot dryers. They are a great and quick way to dry your children's winter boots.

I shop online often. As a busy mom I don't have time to run all over town searching for what I'm looking for. With shopping online I can find exactly what I'm looking for and really unique items that I can't get where I live. A great tip when shopping online is looking for coupons for your purchase. Music Brings A Family Together

My family loves music and music is a great way for us to spend quality time together as a family. Of course we all love to sing and when my husband brings out his Gibson acoustic guitar we all know that it's family sing-along time.

Spending time together as a family is very important and the guitar allows us to do just that. We often have campfires and singalongs while we each take turns playing the guitar. Not only is the guitar an important part of our quality family time together, but it also holds a special place. My husband's guitar came from his father who taught him how to play on it. My husband then taught our children how to play with that exact same guitar. Because Gibson's guitars are such a high quality it has lasted a long time and is currently on it's third generation of players.

My hope is that some day my children will use that same exact guitar to teach their children how to play. Music is a great way for a family to spend quality and with the help of the guitar it's a great way for our family to pass down memories to future generations.

Tea Biscuit Recipe

The only thing better than having a relaxing cup of coffee or tea in the afternoon is having a cup of tea or coffee with a treat! One of my favorite treats to have with my afternoon tea is a tea biscuit with jam. Here is a great easy recipe for homemade tea biscuits.

Ingredients
4 Cups of all purpose flour
2 1/2 Tablespoons baking powder
2 Teaspoons salt
1/2 Cup shortening
1/2 Cup butter or margarine

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients together. Add shortening and butter/margarine until crumbly like pastry dough. Add milk and stir until forms a soft dough. Knead a couple of times, but do not over knead. Roll out dough to about 1 inch think and cut into circles. I use a glass to cut my circles. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes or until tops are golden.

If you are going to use your tea biscuits for Strawberry Shortcake then add 1 Tablespoon of sugar to recipe.

Children love music and my kids are no exception. Unfortunately the music program at their school only offers Music Class once a week. Luckily we have a musical family. My father-in-law plays the guitar and he taught my husband to play. In turn my husband taught our daughter to play and is currently starting to teach our son to play.

I think music is a very important part in a child's development. It teaches them patience, gives them a sense of accomplishment, and it's fun. Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created my very own BBFF, Misty.

This is the third sweater I made for our dog Drake in two weeks. Evidently I have way too much time on my hands. If this keeps up Drake is going to have more clothes than me and he's going to need pallet racks to store them all. What can I say though, Drake is a sweetie and it's so cold outside he needs something to help keep him warm.

Nintendo 3DS Review

The hottest new craze in hand held games is the Nintendo 3DS. My son recently got one for his birthday and I have to say both him and I are very impressed with it.

The 3DS comes in Aqua Blue, Flame Red, and Cosmo Black. It features a 3D display on the upper screen and also allows for 2D display with the switch of a button. The 3DS has a lot of different features other than the 3D function including built-in motion sensor and gyro sensor, two control pads, 3D camera which allows for 3D photos, 3D video, and 3D stop-motion animations, and many other great features. The 3DS comes with a 2GB SD memory card so you don't have to buy your own like with the DSi. The 3DS is also backwards compatible which means it can play DS and DSi games.

My son loves playing the built in software including the Mii Maker, Face Raiders, and AR Games. Not only is the 3DS a big hit with my son, but my daughter also wants one for her birthday because it does so much more than her DSi.

Lost Mittens

It happens every winter. Kids always lose one of their mittens.

When we were a child our parents used to put a string through out coats attached to our mittens in an effort to keep us from loosing them. I don't like the idea of having a string attached to my son's coat so in an effort to keep him from only having single mittens I've come up with a few ideas on how to deal with lost mittens.

1. When knitting mittens I always knit 3 mittens that way if one gets lost he always still has a pair of them.
2. If you purchase mittens instead of knitting them yourself then purchase similar color mittens.
4. Use mitten clips to attach your child's mittens to their coat. They are similar looking to short suspenders.

Free Doggie Sweater Knitting Pattern

During the winter months it gets very cold outside. We bundle ourselves and our children up when we have to go outside, but what about your pets, they get cold too.

Our little dog Drake hates the cold weather, so we decided he needed a warm sweater for when he goes out for his potty breaks. Instead of paying $30 or $40 for a doggie sweater I decided to knit him one.

I used a free pattern I found on Lion Brand Yarn website. All you have to do is register, and registration if free, and you have access to loads of free patterns including the one I used to make Drake's sweater.

Homework has sure changed since I was in school not only for my teen aged daughter, but also for my son in grade 1.
