Having a swimsuit that’s comfortable is important to me, especially as a mom.  I want to be able to play with my kids at the pool or beach or even in my own backyard and not have to worry if I’m covered properly.  An ill fitting swimsuit is a hinderance! Before I had kids I used to keep my nails perfectly manicured.  I’d change the color of my polish several times a week.  Now I have 3 kids and “me time” is practically non-existent so I need to make it count!  A couple of years ago I heard about a manicure that lasts for several weeks.  It sounded too good to be true but when I was given a gift certificate for my birthday, I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised.  Still, I didn’t want to shell out the money for a manicure every few weeks.  Now I don’t have to because I can do it at home with the Red Carpet At-Home Gel Polish System.  For about the cost of two spa manicures you can buy everything you need to get the same results at home.  If you can paint your own nails, you can do this!

I’ll quickly walk you through the steps so you can see how easy is:

1. Clean your nails with a lint free pad or cotton ball with “Purify” pre-application cleanser
2. Buff nails with a fine emery block to take the shine off.
3. Swipe the “Prep” liquid onto your nails
4. Paint a thin coat of “Structure” base coat gel onto your nails and cure under the light for 30 seconds
5. Paint a thin coat of gel polish on your nails.  This nail polish went on surprising well with a single coat!  Cure for 45 seconds.
6. Paint on a thin coat of “Brilliance” seal & shine top coat.  Cure for 45 seconds.
7. Rub nails with a lint free pad or cotton ball.
8. Finish by brushing “Revitalize” nourishing cuticle oil into the cuticle area.

The only trick is to keep the layers as thin as possible.  It’s the most difficult with the base and top coats because the polish is a bit thicker and harder to work with.  You must also make sure not to get any polish on the cuticle area because once the polish is cured under the light it’s very difficult to remove.

For my review, I received the Professional LED Light rather than the portable one.  It was really nice because it had a built in timer.  All I had to do was hit the button and the light would automatically turn off after 45 seconds.  I’m not sure if the portable light does that.  I do know that it takes slightly longer to cure the polish with the portable light.  While the professional light does cost more, I think it would be worth it.  It’s still quite small compared to the other systems I’ve seen.  It plugs into the wall so you’ll never have batteries to replace.

There are so many reasons I love this set.  I can do my nails right before bed and not have to worry about sheet marks.  My nails are instantly dry, not just to the touch but all the way through.  It’s pretty amazing!  My top two reasons for loving this set though are the TIME and MONEY it saves me!  My first try took me about an hour — next time I’m sure I can do it a little quicker.  And the manicure will last for a few weeks!!  As I mentioned before, the whole kit can be purchased for $59.99 which is less than the cost of 2 manicures at the salon — a HUGE savings!
