Mobile Monday Estonia, with cooperation of Technopolis Ülemiste, ICT Export Cluster, The City of Tallinn and European Regional Development Fund is ready to host a number of great presenters on Monday 21th 2011 at Tehnopolis Ülemiste. The event is full of diverse presentation and showcases from from all over the world starting at 13:30 till around 20:30.

Mobile Monday Estonia event will be opened by one of the worlds leading market analysis and strategy company's Founder and Managing Director, Andreas Constantinou from VisionMobile. Andreas will be describing the ins and outs of mobile ecosystem at present state. As Founder and Managing Director, Andreas oversees the research and strategy projects at VisionMobile. He has ten years of experience in mobile having led strategy projects for brand-name clients across the industry, including Nokia, RIM, Telenor, Telefonica, Vodafone, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Gemalto and Tieto.

Andreas will be presenting extracts from VisionMobile's latest research on mobile platforms, OEMs, Google and HTML5.

Delegation of Saint-Petersburg ICT & mobile industry business representatives
From 20.-22. of Nov 2011 a prominent delegation of Russian ICT delegates are visiting Tallinn, Estonia. During the three-day visit, the delegation will meet prominent Estonian ICT companies, organizations, representatives and the public presenting their business to the interested parties.

The main purpose of this visit is to have a chance to show how we work in mobile ecosystem. Number of our partners are lined up to meet the guests. Some to name are: Technopolis Ülemiste, Estonia ICT Demo Centre, Tehnopol, The Estonian Information Technology College, Garage48HUB, Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications / ITL, The City of Tallinn and many others.

Before the Russian companies present we have two excellent speakers to give you the view from the Estonian side of European Unions border of doing business in Russia.

Doing business in St. Petersburg and understanding the Russian business culture
Ivan Shapran (Project Manager, Strategic Development Centre, Elion Enterprises) and Toomas Kästik (Doing Business St. Petersburg, Enterprise Estonia Representative in Saint-Petersburg) will be giving their view on how to do business in Russia and then it is time to present the delegates.

Do you want to present your app at Mobile Premiere Awards during the Mobile World Congress 2012? Come and present your mobile application at AppCircus Tallinn! Deadline for app submission is 06.11.2011

AppCircus, the showcase of the most innovative and creative apps, arrives to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, on the 21st of November at the Technopolis Ülemiste.

AppCircus is open and free to developers, startups and any other organization with apps on any platform, giving a great chance to present live their applications on stage.

An international jury will select one winner, who will get an opportunity to be nominated for the Mobile Premier Awards 2012, which are held during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The deadline to participate is the 11th of November 2011!

Rules for Participation:

Submissions and presentations to AppCircus are FREE and open to any developer, startup or company.

Applicants must send one representative to present the app live on stage.

The apps selected will have three minutes to pitch on stage.

Apps are submitted through the AppCircus platform at appcircus.com.

Registration and membership for AppCircus are FREE!

appcircus.com members need to add the app to their profile before applying for an AppCircus.

Candidates can submit more than one app.

Each app can only be presented in one AppCircus, unless if it receives a Runner up Waiver.

One app in each AppCircus event will be nominated for the pool of apps from which the 20 finalists for the Mobile Premier Awards 2012 will be selected.

The app with the most votes, after the nomination winner, will receive a “Runner up Waiver”, which allows the app to reapply for selection for another AppCircus.

We encourage all the mobile app developers in the region to participate in the event. AppCircus gives the great opportunity to maximize the companie's visibility all over the mobile industry and the chance to win the presentation at the most prominent mobile event of the year - Mobile World Congress 2011.

Andreas Constantinou, Founder and Managing Director of VisionMobile, a leading market analysis and strategy firm for all things connected, is visiting Estonia, Tallinn with a comprehensive presentation about the mobile market state to date. MobileMonday Estonia in partnership with Devtraining and with friends from Agile.ee and DevClub is pleased to invite you to an event on 6th of June codenamed "Mobile Development requires Agile approach?".

We will try to figure out if agile software development and mobile industry can walk the same walk.

Agile development is gaining more popularity and ground all over the software development industry. Although, the approach has been around for over a decade, different agile software development methodologies are becoming more popular and applied in our fast-paced everyday life more and more.

MobileMonday Estonia is trying to look at Agile from a focused angle – we will try to understand if mobile software development is Agile-enabled by theory and also by best-practices.

Thanks to our partners at Devtraining the event will be opened by Mary Poppendieck to introduce Lean Software Development principles from the originator herself.
Mary will discuss how development teams can discover and build products that customers love. To confirm the workings of the theory we will also hear real-life examples from Estonian companies who have worked within the mobile industry.

Tehnopol kutsub kõik tehnoloogia- ja loomettevõtteid ning koostööpartnereid Eestist ja mujalt traditsioonilisse suveklubisse, mis toimub sel aastal 10 - 11. juunil Nelijärve Puhkekeskuses. Seekord paneme käed, jalad ja mõistuse liikuma selleks, et leiutada ning arendada uudne jalgratas.

Legend

Ratas võeti kasutusele juba viie aastatuhande eest ning see on kujunenud inimkonna tehnilise arengu kõige algelisemaks, ent mõjukaimaks leiutiseks. Võttis tuhandeid aastaid enne, kui inimesel tekkis mõte ühendada kaks ratast isiklikuks liiklusvahendiks, mis liigub sõitja enese jõul. Nii sündis jalgratas - vanim ja algelisim isiklik liiklusvahend, mida liigutab sõitja enda jõud.

Jalgratta arenguprotsess on sarnane ühiskonnas ja majanduses toimivate protsessidega. Inimkonna põhivajadusi rahuldavad tooted ja teenused on ammu olemas. Siiski töötame päev päeva järel selleks, teha olevikku veelgi täiuslikumaks ning pakkuda üha uusi lahendusi, mugavusi, võimalusi.

Leiutame jalgratta

Et jõuda uute toodete ja teenusteni liigume tagasi põhilise juurde. Sellel aastal leiutamegi Tehnopoli suveklubis mõnusa seltskondliku suhtlemise tulemusena hulga erinevaid jalgrattaid, mille väljamõtlemisel ja täiustamisel on piiriks ainult inimese enese fantaasia. Eesmärgiks on luua, ehitada, disainida ja žüriile "maha müüa" seninägematu liikur.

Tegevust leiavad nii insenerid, konstruktorid, kuldsete kätega meistrimehed kui ka turundusgurud, finantsgeeniused, juhid-lobistid ning paljud teisedki. MobileMonday: "Mobile Software Development - 3 years later" & Nokia Qt Quick training in Tallinn

We are back from St. Petersburg and we immediately carry on with the next event: "Mobile Software Development - 3 years later" preceded by the "Nokia Qt Quick training in Tallinn" on the same day. Venue as usual: Technopolis, Ülemiste City.

The idea is simple – exactly three years ago there was a MoMo event in Estonia focusing on mobile software development: "Software Development for Mobile Phones: Platforms, Users, and Managing Complexity."

Those of you who have been longer with us may remember the event in the sunny Tartu focusing on J2ME, the fuzz about Flash development, and the moaning about the fragmentation of mobile platforms.

This time we'll look back on these three years, we'll see what's happening today and for just the fun try to predict what happens during the next three years. Maybe we can then see if our predictions were correct :)

The program of the event will feature introduction with the look-back, short presentations about currently relevant development platforms and an open panel discussion looking forward in the mobile development landscape.

27th-29th of March MoMo Estonia visited St Petersburg with the delegation of Estonian Entrepreneurs, presenting the examples of Estonian ICT industry.

We had a very nice (business) trip to St Petersburg, mixed with interesting meetings, in Reksoft, Estonian Consulate General, local MoMo St Petersburg event, and Technopolis Pulkovo. We enjoyed local cuisine and visited the newly renovated Estonian Jaani church in St. Petersburg.

We felt very welcome and an enormous interest towards Estonia. We already have warm feedback and visibility in press by http://www.spbit.ru here and here. Thank you St. Petersburg!

A delegation of Estonian ICT representatives from different successful IT companies are visiting St. Petersburg, Russia to present our success stories, share ideas, network and why not, make some new ventures plans with our neighboring partners.

MobileMonday and Estonian Design Center are proud to announce that on 7th of February we'll meet-up again, and this time together with Estonian designers!

We'll step out of our usual playground - the mobile industry and handle topics of design related to our native mobile field.

When talking about design most of us might consider visual aspects of design like graphical design or weird shapes we happen to see for example in new buildings and furniture. But design is much more.

The mobile services we happen to use or the way we handle our phone talks the language of design - the intention of a service or a product designer to shape our everyday life or behavioral patterns.

While going about our lives or everyday concerns, we might not think that there is a man behind the service design of Mobile-ID or there is a person behind the initial idea how to layout the buttons and tabs for TaxiPal's recent mobile app. But there is – there are designers who's job it is to think from a perspective of an app or service user – how to make the experience less time-consuming, more effective or pleasant.

On 7th of February we'll meet these people in person. We'll see and hear what service or user experience design is about and how we could bend it to our needs to create better and more successful services and apps.

This time the program and schedule of the event will also have a more practical orientation and give you hands-on experience on service design concepts in a fun way MoMo workshops have always worked out.

It was a very pleasant two days last week in Riga. I hope you all enjoyed that as much as we did organizing it.

We had more than 100 participants what was a pleasant surprise about the interest and relevance of the event.

It was great to see Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian developers side by side coding and hacking on mobile apps. Thank you all for attending and making it such a success.

In the evening of 8th we also had a MoMo Baltics event where we had one presenter from each of the three Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) and also presenters from the fourth Baltic state (Finland). We also had Biometry from Switzerland presenting to add some foreign flavor to the mix.

Nokia is having hard times? Developing for Nokia is old-school? It is complex? Think again! MobileMonday Estonia, MobileMonday Lithuania and Nokia is proud to bring you Nokia QT training days for developers all around the region in Riga, Latvia, 8-9. December 2010.

Two days of professional coaching, teaching, mentoring from a Nokia certified trainer and presentations from already well positioned mobile application developers and companies! If you're not a developer then this is an amazing opportunity to meet up for networking as MobileMonday event is held on the 8th of the December at the venue to relax a bit between the training days! Mainly hands-on-training is welcoming developers, either energetic juniors or professional seniors – everyone is welcomed to see, find out and try how it is to create mobile applications for Nokia mobile platform. The purpose of the course is to provide a quick start for creating and publishing Qt applications for mobile devices, especially for the N8 and other Symbian devices.

The course starts from the Qt basics and covers all the practicalities that make mobile Qt application development so convenient. Participants will gain insight on how concretely work with Qt projects on the Nokia Qt SDK for multiple platforms. Course also introduces the new Qt Mobility APIs and a set of approaches for porting existing mobile applications (Symbian, Android, iPhone) for Qt is provided. Also, we will take a look at QtQuick, the new User Interface Creation Kit in Qt.

Estonia Ranks 5th on Mobile Broad Band Quality

E24 Estonia writes that Estonia ranks 5th in the world according to mobile Broadband Quality Score (BQS).

BQS is an index measuring connection quality. It calculates upon network parameters but number of network users as well.

The study incorporated 40 million tests in the testing environment Speedtest.net in 72 countries 239 cities and rural regions.

The quality indeks is composed as following: 55% download speed, 23% upload speed, and 22% the network latency.
