Many of us experience magical moments on the spiritual journey and wonder how synchronicity works. In this podcast, I look at synchronicity and how it works through my SHINE model.

These are the podcast show notes for July 2026 – how synchronicity works through my SHINE model.

Synchronicity is defined in the dictionary as events that appear to an observer as connected in some significant way.

A classic example of synchronicity was related by the psychologist Carl Jung, who invented the word when he experienced it. Working with a client, he was hoping for an ‘unexpected and irrational event’ to break through her defenses. As she described a dream about a golden scarab beetle as jewelry, there was a tapping at the window; Jung opened it and caught a scarab beetle, whose golden-green color closely resembled that of the beetle in her dream.

We can often find that synchronous events like this bring us strongly into the present moment. This is one of the ways that synchronicity can help us on the spiritual journey.

How Synchronicity Works Through Five Mystical Approaches

In this podcast, we’re going to use my SHINE Model to explore synchronicity on a much deeper level.

SHINE is an acronym that takes us through five energetic levels of awareness. It also reflects the different systems and approaches I use in my readings, coaching, and classes. Together, they give us a framework for understanding not only synchronicity, but also ourselves.

• The S in SHINE stands for Soul-level awareness. This is the realm of the fifth dimension, the Akashic Records, Spirit Guides, and our deeper soul connection. It’s where we begin to see life from a much bigger perspective.

• The H stands for Human Design. Human Design is a map of your energy. As I always heard Richard Bandler say in another context, the map is not the territory (our Human Design Chart is not us!). The chart is not here to tell you what to do with your life. Instead, it helps you understand how your aura naturally operates, so you can live more authentically in your own energy and make choices that are aligned with who you really are.

• The I stands for Intuition. This is about strengthening your connection with your Higher Self. I often describe it as expanding the relationship between the seven chakras within the body and the eighth chakra above the head, which I work with as the Soul Star Chakra. As that connection deepens, intuition becomes clearer and more natural.

• The N stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP. At its heart, NLP is about understanding how our thoughts, language, and patterns influence the way we experience the world. It offers practical tools for creating positive change and personal growth.

• Finally, the E stands for Energetics. This is everything happening within your energy field—your aura, your emotional and mental bodies, and the energetic dynamics that influence your everyday experiences, often without you even realising it.

Using these five perspectives, we’ll explore how synchronicity works, not just as a series of meaningful coincidences, but as something that can be understood on multiple levels of awareness. That gives us a much richer picture of what may really be happening when synchronicity shows up in our lives.

Understanding How Synchronicity Works

Synchronicity is happening all the time, whether we notice it or not. I like to think of it as a continuously flowing river of energy, carrying currents of information and energetic charges.

One of the reasons synchronicity is so powerful on the spiritual journey is that it reminds us we aren’t simply a mind living inside a body. We are connected to something much greater. Those connections exist within us, through our inner world, and they extend outwards to other souls and to the living field of life itself.

So, How Do We Begin To Notice Synchronicity?

One way is to recognize that when we’re becoming aware of meaningful coincidences, we may also be moving into a state of greater vibrational awareness. As our awareness expands, we naturally become more open to seeing patterns, connections, and possibilities that we may have overlooked before.

A moment of synchronicity can remind us of our deeper purpose. It may help us feel connected with loved ones in Spirit, offer fresh insight into a relationship or life situation, or completely transform the way we understand a particular circumstance.

Sometimes a synchronicity doesn’t change what’s happening around us. Instead, it changes how we see it. And that shift in perspective can make all the difference.

How Synchronicity Works Through Soul-level Awareness

So, let’s look at synchronicity from the perspective of Soul-level awareness.

I believe we all have what I call a Divine Soul Blueprint. One way to imagine it is as your Soul’s own cloud storage or internet site. When a Soul individuates—separates from the greater sea of consciousness—and begins the journey of incarnation, it creates a unique blueprint that holds its individual essence, along with a record of its experiences across lifetimes. That record of incarnations is what many people know as the Akashic Records.

Your current life can be accessed in the Akashic Records through your present name and birth details. From there, if it’s helpful for your growth, the records may also reveal information about other lifetimes and the threads that connect them to your life today.

So Where Does Synchronicity Fit With Our Divine Soul Blueprint?

I’ve found that when we begin to understand aspects of our Divine Soul Blueprint—things like our Divine Energy Centers or our Soul Group—we often discover that we’ve already been living in synchronicity with them all along. We simply didn’t have the language to recognise it.

Let me give you an example of how synchronicity works through our Divine Soul Blueprint.

When I first discovered that I’m part of the Mintakan Soul Group, so many experiences in my life suddenly made sense. One of the gifts often associated with Mintakan Souls is the ability to perceive future potential in people, situations, and circumstances.

It sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?

The challenge, at least for me, was that I unconsciously projected those beautiful future possibilities onto people and assumed that was who they already were. Instead of seeing them as they were in the present moment, I was seeing who they could become.

After two marriages, I realised that was a very important lesson for me.

Human Design and Synchronicity

Let’s move on to the H in the SHINE Model: Human Design.

As an Akashic Records Reader, I see Human Design as the blueprint for your physical life—or, as I sometimes call it, your “meat suit.” Your Soul Blueprint remains the same from lifetime to lifetime, but your Human Design blueprint changes with each incarnation, reflecting the unique circumstances and lessons of this life.

Your chart is created using your birth date, time, and location.

One thing I always like to emphasize is that Human Design isn’t a prediction tool. It doesn’t tell you what is going to happen. Instead, it shows you how your energy naturally operates. It points you back towards the person you were before family expectations, culture, education, and conditioning layered themselves over your authentic nature.

How Does Synchronicity Work With Human Design?

The first example I have relates to one of the energy centres in my chart.

Human Design works with nine energy centres. Seven of them will probably be familiar if you’ve studied the chakra system—the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown. Human Design also includes two additional centres: the G Centre, which I often think of as our inner GPS, and the Spleen Centre.

Now, the physical spleen is a small organ tucked under your left rib cage. It filters blood and plays an important role in the immune system. Energetically, however, the Spleen Centre is associated with instinct, intuition in the moment, and our awareness of wellbeing and potential risks. I often describe it as being a bit like an energetic sonar, constantly scanning our environment.

The Spleen Chakra Or Energy Center In Human Design

People with a defined Spleen Centre often have a consistent instinctive awareness and can help others feel safe. They also tend to respond very quickly in the moment.

I, on the other hand, have a completely open Spleen Centre, with no gates or channels connected to it.

For years, I noticed that I seemed to react much more strongly to medications than other people. I learned the hard way that I usually need to begin with half the recommended dose. I’m the woman who was practically floating around for three days after taking a Midol!

When I later studied Human Design, I discovered that heightened sensitivity to pharmaceuticals is something many people with an open Spleen Centre report. Looking back, that felt like another synchronicity. I’d been living that pattern for years before I ever had a Human Design chart to explain it.

Channels, Gates, Planetary Transits and Guinea Pigs

The second example involves one of my channels.

I have the Channel 35–36, connecting Gate 35 in the Throat Centre with Gate 36 in the Solar Plexus. In traditional Human Design it’s called the Channel of Transitoriness, although in the Success Codex model it’s known as the Channel of Experience. Personally, I much prefer the second name.

One characteristic of this channel is that it can bring a desire for new experiences. If we’re not aware of that energy, it can sometimes show up as impulsiveness.

One day I wandered into a pet store and found myself seriously considering buying two hairless guinea pigs.

They were incredibly cute.

Then I caught myself thinking, “This really isn’t like me.”

So I went home and checked the planetary transits for the day. You can think of transits as the energetic weather forecast—they temporarily activate different parts of your Human Design chart.

Sure enough, that day I had a double activation of the Channel of Transitoriness.

I couldn’t help but laugh.

Because once the energy settled, I realised that buying two guinea pigs would have been a terrible idea for me. I want to spend quite a bit of time travelling over the next few years, and guinea pigs don’t exactly fit that lifestyle.

Think of Planetary Transits In Human Design As A Kind of Weather Passing Through

For me, that was another example of synchronicity.

My awareness of my Human Design didn’t stop the impulse from arising, but it did help me recognise it for what it was. Instead of acting automatically, I could pause, understand the energy I was experiencing, and make a choice that was much more aligned with the life I actually want to create.

Now, I make a conscious effort to understand people as they are today, while still appreciating their potential. That’s a very different way of relating.

Another characteristic I’ve noticed is that Mintakan Souls can have a tendency to give people too many chances in relationships. Looking back, I can clearly see that pattern running through both of my marriages.

Learning about this part of my Soul Blueprint didn’t determine my future. What it did was give me greater self-awareness. It helped me understand a lifelong pattern, and from that understanding I was able to make different choices. Today, I’m far more discerning instead of getting swept away by someone’s potential.

If you’re listening and thinking, “That sounds a bit like me,” then exploring your own Soul Blueprint might be worthwhile. You may even discover a connection with the Mintakan Soul Group—or you may find a completely different pattern that’s uniquely yours.

This is just one example of what I mean by Soul-level synchronicity. The more we learn about our own Soul Blueprint, the more we begin to recognise that many of the threads running through our lives weren’t random at all. They were quietly weaving together all along, waiting for us to notice them.

How Synchronicity Works With Intuition

Next, let’s look at the I in the SHINE Model: Intuition.

For many people, intuition is the context in which they most often experience synchronicity.

I like to think of intuition as receiving a download of information from our higher energy centres—those above the heart—or as a response to our desires, wishes, and needs arising from the lower energy centres.

When those intuitive impressions meet our thoughts or our emotions—our mental and emotional bodies—that’s when synchronicity can emerge. It’s almost as though that quiet energetic river we’ve been talking about sends a pulse through our awareness, connecting the inner experience with something happening in the outer world.

Let me give you a recent example.

I recently travelled to Albuquerque and rented a car at the airport. Nothing particularly synchronistic about that… or so I thought.

Before I left home, I’d asked one of the teacher Spirit Guides I’m currently working closely with to send me a sign during the journey—something that would help me understand synchronicity more deeply for this podcast.

Signs Of Synchronicity – Repeating Numbers Such as the 11:11

When I arrived at the airport, I ended up waiting about forty-five minutes in the heat for my rental car. Eventually, the paperwork arrived, and I noticed the licence plate ended with 77.

A few minutes later, an employee came over and apologised. There was a problem with that vehicle, so they were giving me a different one. I looked at the new paperwork. That licence plate also ended with 77.

Now my attention was definitely captured. For me, synchronicities often seem to build in a series, so I found myself thinking, “Okay… something’s going on here.“

I drove to my hotel, but there wasn’t a room number 77 or anything else that stood out. So later, in meditation, I asked my guide, “What’s the significance of the number 77?“

The response I received was simple.

“If I had lived to my birthday this year, how old would I have been?“

I looked up his birth details. He would have been 77.

Now, I completely appreciate that some people listening may hear that and simply think it was an interesting coincidence.

For me, though, it felt deeply meaningful. It was exactly the kind of sign I’d asked for, and it strengthened my relationship with my Spirit Guide in a way that felt both personal and encouraging.

Whether you see experiences like this as guidance, a meaningful coincidence, or simply an invitation to pay closer attention, they have a way of opening the door to a much richer conversation with life itself.

NLP™ (Neuro-linguistic Programming) – An Effective Tool to Study Synchronicity

Next, let’s look at the N in the SHINE Model: Neuro-Linguistic Programming™, or NLP.

People often ask me what NLP™ has to do with spirituality or synchronicity. For me, it’s quite simple. Synchronicity may provide the invitation, but NLP™ gives us practical tools to help us notice it and respond consciously.

One of the ideas I love in NLP™ is that our minds are constantly filtering information. Every second, we’re surrounded by far more sights, sounds, and experiences than we could ever consciously process. Our brains naturally decide what is important enough to bring into our awareness.

Have you ever decided to buy a particular make or colour of car, and then suddenly you start seeing that same car everywhere? Those cars didn’t suddenly appear. Your attention simply became tuned to notice them.

I believe synchronicity can work in a similar way.

The more we develop self-awareness and become intentional about what we’re paying attention to, the more we begin to notice meaningful connections that may have been there all along.

NLP also reminds us that our state of mind matters. When we’re stressed, rushing through life, or feeling overwhelmed, our awareness can become quite narrow. But when we’re relaxed, curious, and present, we naturally become more open to the subtle patterns and connections unfolding around us.

For me, NLP doesn’t explain away synchronicity. Instead, it gives us practical ways to work with our awareness. It helps us move from reacting automatically to responding consciously, so when meaningful moments arise, we’re ready to pause and ask:

“What might this be inviting me to see?”

The NLP™ Technique of Anchoring

One of the most useful techniques in NLP is called anchoring.

An anchor is simply a trigger that connects us with a particular emotional or mental state.

We experience natural anchors all the time. A favourite song might instantly transport you back to a particular moment in your life, or the smell of freshly baked bread might bring back memories of your grandmother’s kitchen.

In NLP™, we can also create anchors deliberately. By pairing a physical gesture—such as pressing your thumb and forefinger together—with a calm, confident, or deeply connected state, you can train your mind and body to access that feeling more easily in the future.

From the perspective of synchronicity, an anchor doesn’t create meaningful moments, but it can help us return to a more open and present state where we’re more able to notice them.

Complaint-Free Anchor

One example of an anchor I used many years ago was a purple bracelet.

If you haven’t heard of this movement, it was created by Will Bowen, who was the lead minister of the One Community Spiritual Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He gave a sermon about the impact of constant complaining and imagined what the world might look like if we became more conscious of the words we spoke.

From that idea came the 21-Day Complaint Free Challenge. Participants wear a purple Complaint Free Bracelet and commit not to voice complaints for 21 days. If they catch themselves complaining, the bracelet is moved to the other wrist, and they begin again.

What I love about this is that the bracelet becomes a physical reminder—a simple anchor that brings awareness back to the present moment and helps shift a person’s state of mind.

Perhaps you already have something like this in your life. It might be a piece of jewellery, a meaningful song on your phone, a photograph, or even a memory of a time when you felt deeply connected and present in your body.

These can all become anchors that help you return to awareness, slow down, and become more receptive to that quiet river of synchronicity flowing through everyday life.

Energetics and How Synchronicity Works

Most people have experienced synchronicity in daily life at some point in their lives, even if they didn’t have a name for it.

Perhaps you were thinking about someone moments before they called. Maybe a particular book title, phrase, or symbol kept appearing everywhere you looked. Or perhaps you received exactly the information you needed just when you needed it.

From a spiritual perspective, synchronicity often feels like the Universe winking at us — a reminder that there may be more going on beneath the surface of everyday life than we realise.

Lee Carroll, who has channeled a peace-loving consciousness called Kryon since 1986, and who has spoken and channeled at the United Nations, calls the 11:11 number that a lot of people see on clocks, licence plates or somewhere in their day – double illumination, or a ‘wink’ from your spirit guides. Meaning: that they see you.

Useful Resources

Pam Grout’s books E2 and E3, the E being for energy, contain a lot of fun exercises you can play with to connect with that quiet river of synchronicity.

I have tried her butterflies exercise, setting an intention to see butterflies during the day, but my favorite so far was setting the intention to see a purple truck. I live in Kansas, so I figured a purple truck would be rare. Within two days, when walking my dog, a purple metallic truck drove by.

If you want to set an intention to see synchronous signs, it’s important to be as light-hearted as possible. This is one way we elevate our mind to higher energies.

As Pam Grout puts it: –

“The fact that you are connected to everyone and everything in the Universe is not just mind-blowing news. It’s something you should be using.

The fact that your thoughts are energy waves being broadcast out into this giant field of infinite potentiality is something you should be more aware of and deploying on a moment-by-moment basis.

Some might even suggest we’ve squandered 100 years merely poking at these principles, discussing them at the water cooler rather than actively using them to make our world, our lives, and our relationships better.”

So, play with synchronicity in your day-to-day life. Have a little fun with it, journal your synchronistic hits, and keep on playing.

When you access higher energies, as neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart, author of Signs, says,

“If we look back at the way our ancestors used their intuition to sense and interpret the land, a cloud formation could mean that rain is coming, or it could mean that your ancestors are talking to you. It just seems like such a beautiful way to live.”

In my experience, I still can’t explain how I saw this cloud being drawn in the sky in the shape of an angel, the day after my mother’s funeral.

So set intentions for seeing a sign, have fun with it, record your findings, and notice any positive states of mind that result.

What are Human Design Generators, and if you are one, what does that mean for you?

What Are Human Design Generators?

Have you heard of Human Design yet? It’s an energetic measurement system that helps you understand how your Aura works. It does this by categorizing your energy as an Aura Type. The 5 Types are:-

• Human Design Generators (70%)
• Manifesting Generators (33% sub-type of 70% Generators)
• Manifestors (9%)
• Projectors (20%)
• Reflectors (1%)

Generators are the most common type, making up about 70% of the population. There is also a Generator subtype, called Manifesting Generators. MGs comprise about 33% of the 70% Generator group.

How Can We Know Which Aura Type We Are?

It comes down to knowing your date, location, and time of birth. If you’re not sure of the time that you were born, you can have a good astrologer do a practice called ‘chart rectification’ to find out.

As you incarnate, your baby body in utero is imprinted 88 days before birth with certain energetic patterns based on planetary alignments. On your day of birth, a second energetic imprint occurs. The first imprint is your ‘Design‘. The second imprint is your ‘Personality‘.

These two sets of imprints are interpreted through a chart with two columns of data on each side. The left side is the Design side; the right side is the Personality side. This data incorporates Astrology with a Chinese prediction system called the I-Ching.

This chart is for John Lennon, of the Beatles. Notice that the numbers showing in the columns also appear in the red circles in the Chakra map in the center. The chart in the middle is based on the Hindu Chakra system, which represents our body energy through Chakras or energy centers. In Human Design, there are 9 Chakras rather than 7.

Human Design Gates And Chakras

The numbers, which are called Gates, are placed in a specific body location because these ‘Gates’ have been matched with Human Design Codons, discovered during the Human Genome experiment. It’s interesting to note that the human body contains 64 Codons, or chemical signatures, and the ancient I-Ching also contains 64 Gates.

Whether the Chakras are colored in or not depends on your Aura Type in your chart.

I can tell from this chart that John Lennon is a Generator, first of all, because his Sacral Chakra (the one below the belly button) is colored in pink. I can also tell that he’s an Emotional Generator – because his Solar Plexus Chakra is colored brown.

Some Generators have more than two Chakras colored in (called defined) in their chart, but any Generator will always have the Sacral Chakra – that pink one – defined.

You can see from John’s chart that he has a channel (the black and red line) between his Sacral Chakra and his Solar Plexus Chakra. This is why both Chakras are colored in. Channels created defined Chakras. Think of it this way – from this chart we can see that John had a strong connection to his emotions and his emotional awareness, because his Sacral Chakra is driving his energy there.

What Makes Human Design Generators Unique?

When I work with clients who find out they are Generators, sometimes there is a little disappointment to begin with. I’ve often heard the phrase “Oh, I’m just a Generator“.

It’s very human of us to want to be special, and one way we have done that in the past is by becoming part of an exclusive group. Whether that group is a friend group, an unusual club, or just human cliqueness, we like to think we are all unique.

The irony is, of course, that we are all unique, since our Souls are completely individual. Even if we were born along with another identical twin, we might be genetically identical, but we would be different Souls in two different bodies.

I’d like you, if possible, to drop the thinking that frames you as ‘just’ one of the Human Design Generators.

If you are a Generator or Manifesting Generator, you are part of the largest Aura group Type on the planet. You helped to build this human world.

Generators use their creative energy from the Sacral Chakra in a multitude of ways. You can work hard all day and go to sleep after having emptied your energy tank (the Sacral Chakra). You’ll then wake up refreshed and do another hard day’s work again tomorrow, no problem.

Not all the other Aura Types can do that as well or as easily as you can. And how you respond can change the world. This brings us nicely onwards to the Human Design Generators strategy.

The Generator Strategy: Wait to Respond

Rather than forcing opportunities, Generators thrive by responding to life as it unfolds. Being able to immerse yourself in collective energy – the energy of others – and responding to it is one of your innate gifts for this lifetime.

Being able to gather information, sense it, feel it, think about it, and learn more about it is the first step to responding. Just because you haven’t responded yet doesn’t mean you aren’t taking action. Generators have a gift for noting things and aligning them with what they understand already about a person, situation, or circumstance.

The real power in responding is to find the right moment to do so. Based on your Authority as a Generator, you can learn to become a master at this. So, this brings us onto the two Authorities that Human Design Generators have: the Sacral Authority and the Emotional Authority.

Understanding Your Sacral Or Emotional Authority

Depending on your birth data, you may either be a Pure Generator or an Emotional Generator. Pure Generators have something called the Sacral Authority present in their chart, and Emotional Generators have the Emotional Authority.

Think of it like this. If you are a Pure Generator, you will have an intuitive ‘yes’ or ‘no’ response to your environment, questions asked of you, people around you, even situations and circumstances. You may respond with nodding or head shaking. You’ll maybe even respond out loud.

If you are an Emotional Generator, you will need to take longer to make your decisions, because you need to process your feelings before you decide on something.

There are 6 different Authorities in total – so don’t ever let anyone tell you to be ‘logical’, or that we should only use our brain to decide on something! Find out more about your Human Design Authority first.

Signs You’re Living In Or Out Of Alignment With Satisfaction/Frustration

Each Aura Type has a Signature Theme, which can be helpful to know, since you can then key into your Aura Type’s emotions as a guidance tool. Human Design Generators have a Signature Theme of Satisfaction or Frustration.

You are most likely to align with your Signature Theme of Satisfaction and be living in alignment with your Aura Type when you are:-

• feeling energized
• enjoying meaningful work
• experiencing synchronicities
• finishing what matters.

Frustration can be caused by: –

• feeling burned out
• having to work for ‘the man’
• not connecting up the dots, feeling lost
• unable to complete a task even though you’ve had a strong response and want to complete it.

Career and Purpose for Human Design Generators

Generators have been a big part of the Engineering Age, also known as the Piscean Age. If you are a Generator and you are reading this, you help to develop tools and systems for planet Earth, from pottery to keyboards, weaving to soccer games.

This is because one of the ways you can create mastery for yourself is through repetition. You also do better if you can find satisfying work, because it helps you to renew your energy daily. When you experience genuine enjoyment through your projects, hobbies, or career, you’ll feel that deep satisfaction in your core and want to do it all over again.

One of the ways we can drill down into greater success is to learn about the personality sides of our Human Design charts in more depth. Think: Design – unconscious mind, Personality – conscious mind.

Common Misconceptions About Generators

As with every Aura Type, there is a human tendency to generalize information we find in our Human Design chart and apply that to every Generator, every Projector, and so on.

The whole point of Human Design is to show us our unique nature. Generators are unique individuals, each in their own right, just like anyone in the other Aura Types.

I’m sure a lot of people would call John Lennon a unique individual – yet he’s in the Human Design Generators group. Other unique Generators include Lady Gaga, Mahatma Gandhi, Kim Kardashian, and Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. As you can see from this list, Generators can be just as varied and unusual as Projectors or Manifestors.

So, don’t fall into the trap of generalizing yourself out of your uniqueness and your individual gifts, just because you come from the largest Aura Type on the planet.

Don’t Let Anyone Generalize Your Gifts

Examples of generalizations you might hear: –

• “Generators should work all the time.”
• “Waiting to respond means doing nothing.”
• “Generators can’t initiate.”
• “More energy means limitless energy.”
• “Generators don’t lead.”

Reframe that thinking this way: –

• Generators have access to consistent energy through the Sacral Chakra.
• Waiting to respond is a superpower when you know how to check in with your gut or emotions through your Authority before committing.
• Generators may not always initiate new ideas, but they are experts at responding to ideas and creating solutions by understanding collective needs.
• You can learn to work on projects or live life in a way that lights you up – and that gives you access to more Sacral energy.
• Generators can be great leaders too – the ability for leadership comes from deeper aspects in your chart, such as channels, not just your Aura Type. You have your entire Soul’s history of past lives to call upon, too.

Human Design Generator vs Manifesting Generator

So what about Human Design Manifesting Generators, that 33% subtype of Human Design Generators – what’s the difference between the Generator Aura Type and the Manifesting Generator Aura Type?

The essential difference is in the vibrational pattern of the defined Chakras – those colored-in shapes on the chart.

You’ve already learned that both Generator types have a defined Sacral Chakra (that pink square). This is called a motor Chakra, because it’s so powerful, and there are 4 motor Chakras in total. Other motor Chakras are: –

• Heart Chakra (the little triangle)
• Solar Plexus/Emotions Chakra – the bigger triangle lower right-hand side
• Root Chakra – the square Chakra at the base of the chart.

Manifesting Generators have channels connecting their Sacral Chakra and one of these three motor centers to their Throat Chakra one way or another. The Throat Chakra is the third square-shaped Chakra down from the top.

The Throat Chakra is seen as the seat of manifestation through the Human Design model, hence the name.

This makes Manifesting Generators quicker to act and respond than Generators. This is because of the extra energy drive they get from Sacral Energy to the Throat. They get this because of the connection to another powerful motor Chakra (Heart, Solar Plexus, Root). Literally, think of a motorboat!

Example: So, imagine a Generator and a Manifesting Generator deciding together on where to go for a walk. The Manifesting Generator responds to the idea and rushes out the door. The Generator looks out the window and sees clouds forming, so they pick up an umbrella on their way out. They walk towards the Manifesting Generator, who is rushing back to the house because it’s raining!

Learn To Trust Your Generator Wisdom

Human Design isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering how your unique energy naturally works, and experimenting with living in greater alignment to your authentic self.

Your innate Generator wisdom enables you to: –

• check in with your gut or emotions before committing
• notice what brings satisfaction
• complete energy-giving projects to create more energy for you
• allow life to present opportunities so that you can choose
• rest when your energy is genuinely depleted – it will come back again.

When Human Design Generators align with their own unique way of responding, the rest of the world has to listen.

What is synchronicity, and how can we be looking out for signs of it in our everyday lives?

Synchronicity – The Meaning Of The Word

What is synchronicity, and why do so many spiritually aware people talk about it?

Synchronicity was first described by Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung in the 1920s. Jung believed in the existence of a collective consciousness — a deeper field of awareness that connects all people.

His theory suggested that synchronistic events are meaningful coincidences that cannot be explained by simple cause and effect. Instead, they arise from underlying patterns within this interconnected field of consciousness.

For a psychologist working in the early twentieth century, this was a remarkably forward-thinking idea and one that has influenced much of modern spiritual and New Age thought.

He coined the phrase after an experience with a client, who had dreamed of a scarab beetle the night before and mentioned it to him during a session. Almost immediately, there was a tapping at the window, and Jung was amazed to see a scarab beetle appear outside. The client’s amazement helped her change something for the better.

What Is Applied Synchronicity?

Most people have experienced synchronicity at some point in their lives, even if they didn’t have a name for it.

Perhaps you were thinking about someone moments before they called. Maybe a particular book title, phrase, or symbol kept appearing everywhere you looked. Or perhaps you received exactly the information you needed just when you needed it.

From a spiritual perspective, synchronicity often feels like the Universe winking at us — a reminder that there may be more going on beneath the surface of everyday life than we realise.

How Can I Become More Aware of Synchronicity?

In my opinion, becoming aware of synchronicity is largely a matter of learning to notice patterns as they occur.

Here’s a simple example.

Quite a few years ago, when I was still married, my alarm went off before my then-husband’s. (I used to wake up to Doreen Virtue’s Chakra Clearing CD, much to his chagrin!) I switched off my alarm and stayed in bed a little longer.

As I drifted in that half-awake state, I started thinking about an episode of American Idol I had watched with the children a few days earlier. One of the contestants had sung a song called You’re No Good.

A moment later, my husband’s radio alarm clock switched on, played a single chord, and then went silent. The DJ said, “And that was You’re No Good by Linda Ronstadt.”

Up until that moment, I didn’t even know that Linda Ronstadt had recorded the song.

Just a coincidence?

Perhaps.

But after many years on my spiritual journey, I have learned to pay attention when these moments arise.

Another Example of Synchronicity

Another fun synchronistic event happened with my first husband.

We were driving to Scotland when I suddenly saw an image of my brother-in-law in my mind. He had very short hair.

This was unusual because my brother-in-law had a mullet. He absolutely loved his hair and was married to a hairdresser — the perfect match!

I mentioned the impression to my husband, who immediately dismissed it.

“There is no way my brother would ever cut his hair.“

When we arrived, guess what?

My brother-in-law had cut off his beloved mullet and was sporting very short hair.

Again, some people would call it coincidence.

I call it synchronicity.

Why Does Synchronicity Happen?

Different spiritual traditions offer different explanations for synchronicity.

Some people believe synchronicity occurs because we are connected through a collective consciousness. Others see it as communication from Higher Self, Spirit Guides, or the soul.

My own experience is that synchronicity often increases when we become more intuitive, more present, and more willing to trust our inner knowing.

It can feel as though life becomes a conversation rather than a series of random events.

Some Simple Ways To Become More Aware of Synchronicity

If you’d like to notice more synchronicity in your life, try the following:

• Stay present and aware of your surroundings.
• Pay attention when you think about someone, and they suddenly contact you.
• Notice recurring themes, symbols, words, songs, or numbers.
• Keep a journal of unusual coincidences and patterns.
• Ask yourself, “What might this experience be trying to show me?“
• Remain open-minded rather than immediately dismissing unusual experiences.
• Trust your intuition when something captures your attention repeatedly.

Notice the “Law of Three”

One pattern I’ve observed repeatedly is what I call the “law of three.”

For example, somebody mentions the same book, person, topic, or idea three times within a relatively short period.

Perhaps you hear about it from different people. Maybe you see references online and then encounter it again in a conversation.

When that happens, I usually pay attention.

It’s often a sign that there is something worth exploring further. In spiritual terms, you could say that the collective consciousness is responding to a question you’re already holding within yourself.

Synchronicity – Some Light Reading

Many years ago, author James Redfield published a series of books exploring spiritual insights and personal growth.

The first book, The Celestine Prophecy, discusses synchronicity as one of the key insights on the spiritual path. The story-format approach makes it an easy and enjoyable introduction to the subject.

Whether or not you agree with all of the ideas presented, it is a thought-provoking read for anyone interested in intuition, consciousness, and spiritual development.

And here’s the funny thing about synchronicity:

Once you start reading about it, learning about it, and paying attention to it, you’ll probably begin noticing it everywhere.

That seems to be how it works.

In Summary

Synchronicity is the experience of meaningful coincidences that appear connected in ways that go beyond ordinary chance. Carl Jung believed these events arose from deeper patterns within a collective consciousness, while many spiritual seekers view them as signs of guidance from Higher Self, Spirit, or the interconnected nature of all life.

The more present and aware you become, the easier it is to recognise synchronicity when it occurs. By paying attention to recurring patterns, intuitive nudges, and meaningful coincidences, you may discover that life is communicating with you far more often than you previously realised.

At the very least, synchronicity invites us to become more conscious observers of our own experience. And sometimes, that’s where the real magic begins.

What Are Karmic Relationships?

In one sense, we are all navigating karmic relationships in every relationship we experience. Not all of them create negative karma, though. What a relief! Some do, and those are the ones I’m focusing on today.

A negative karmic relationship is a relationship that changes you forever because it requires you to learn a difficult lesson. Whether you continue the relationship to the end of your current timeline here or leave it behind and move on, make no mistake: lessons will be learned. This is the essence of a negative karmic relationship.

Remember, life lessons are not just what we’ve experienced here on Earth, in this current body. They are themes that the Soul is excited to experience and manifest through incarnation.

We often hope that Life Lessons will be nothing but love and light, of course. However, from the Soul’s perspective, life lessons are chosen before incarnation and are based on the many possibilities available in a lifetime. The Soul sees all experiences as opportunities for growth. It is our human awareness that tends to label them as “positive” or “negative.”

We will experience a wide spectrum of situations and karma within a single Life Lesson, and I’m not going to sugarcoat it – not all of those will feel good. Yet when we understand more about our Life Lessons and Soul Blueprint, we can begin to navigate difficult karmic patterns more consciously and make different choices.

All relationships offer growth opportunities. Whether we choose to learn from those experiences is ultimately up to us.

Navigating Karmic Relationships: Twin Flame Relationships: Soulmate Contract

Imagine yourself as a golden point of light. This is you, your consciousness, and your individuated Soul—the aspect of you that has chosen to experience a series of incarnations.

Surrounding this point of light is your energy field, and at the edge of that field is a golden hoop. It’s no coincidence that golden rings have long been associated with partnership and marriage.

Think of the boundary of that hoop as the edge of your consciousness and energetic awareness. As you move through life, you encounter other golden hoops containing their own points of light. When you enter into a relationship, your energetic fields begin to overlap.

Relationships that help us work through negative karma contain a shared Life Lesson that resonates between both people.

For example, my primary Life Lesson in this lifetime is Trust. I’ve met wonderful people and built deep trust with them. I’ve also rushed into relationships from insecurity and found myself with people who ultimately proved untrustworthy, even when they initially seemed reliable.

My secondary Life Lesson is Truth. I grew up in a home where emotional truth was not freely expressed. Learning to understand my emotions and communicate them authentically has been a significant part of my journey.

As a child, suppressing my truest expression was necessary for survival. As an adult, I’ve had to learn that authenticity requires safety, self-awareness, and practice. It’s been a long process of clearing old patterns and reclaiming my voice.

What About Twin Flames When Navigating Karmic Relationships?

There is a lot of material online about Twin Flames. The most common definition suggests that a Twin Flame is a single Soul split into two separate bodies.

As an Akashic Records reader, I’ve studied with 3 different teachers, and I have not yet come across a split Soul in my readings!

My work involves a detailed energetic alignment with a client’s Akashic Records, including examining Soul Blueprint patterns, energetic restrictions, and occasionally even corrupted Soul Codes. While unusual energetic situations can occur, I have not yet encountered what I would describe as a “split Soul” after thousands of readings.

Could I discover evidence that changes my understanding in the future? Certainly. Based on my experience so far, I believe many people may be confusing difficult karmic relationships, Soul Contracts, or even narcissistic relationship dynamics with the Twin Flame concept.

There is also such a thing as a Walk-In—a pre-birth agreement in which one Soul exchanges places with another during an incarnation. However, this is also different from the idea of a split Soul.

Karmic relationships can involve betrayal, conflict, separation, heartbreak, and emotional intensity. They can feel overwhelming and life-changing. Yet these experiences do not necessarily indicate that a Soul is searching for the missing half of itself.

Souls can become fragmented through trauma, creating energetic splits or disowned aspects of self. Many shamanic traditions refer to healing this process as soul retrieval. However, this is not the same thing as a Soul being divided into two separate beings.

Sometimes the longing associated with Twin Flame experiences may arise from a deeper feeling of separation—from one’s Soul Group, spiritual origins, or a sense of connection to home.

Others may experience an internal sense of division simply because human life itself involves learning to integrate different aspects of our consciousness. The journey toward wholeness is often mistaken for a search for another person.

Do I Have A Soulmate Contract?

Soulmate Contracts can absolutely be part of a negative karmic relationship. These types of contracts are generally NOT about romance because they are negative.

In fact, many of the more challenging contracts are centered on responsibility, obligation, support, caregiving, or unfinished agreements from previous lifetimes.

Think of a Soul Contract as an agreement made between Souls before incarnation. Often, it involves helping, supporting, protecting, or caring for one another. If the lesson remains unresolved, similar situations may continue appearing across multiple lifetimes until the contract is finally completed.

Taking care of someone is not inherently negative. However, repeatedly sacrificing your own growth, opportunities, or well-being to fulfill obligations can create imbalances that generate additional karmic patterns.

Many karmic Soul Contracts involve some form of energetic restriction. For example, one person may become so focused on supporting another that they lose sight of their own Life Purpose or Soul growth.

You can see how this doesn’t necessarily sound very romantic.

There are, of course, valid reasons for caring for one another. The challenge arises when care becomes limitation, dependency, or self-abandonment.

Signs You Are in a Karmic Relationship

Karmic relationships that are here to help us clear negative karma can be: –

• Challenging and stressful
• Emotionally or energetically draining
• Damaging to you and people around you
• Heavy energetically, so that you feel stuck or trapped
• Bringing out the worst in you
• Limiting your potential and growth
• Characterized by abusive or unhealthy behavior
• Leaving you worse off than when the relationship began

When we are born, our Soul naturally resonates with the vibration of our family system. This means that some of us are born directly into karmic relationships.

From the perspective of a Soul Blueprint, certain Souls may even choose difficult childhood experiences because they provide opportunities to work through specific Life Lessons.

That doesn’t mean we are destined to remain trapped in those patterns.

Many of us eventually recognize that the behaviors, beliefs, and relationship dynamics we inherited are not the ones we wish to continue.

I was able to change some of my own parenting patterns with my children, though certainly not all of them. Each generation is here to transform something.

My spiritual journey, along with the tools I’ve learned along the way, has expanded my capacity for growth and self-awareness. Understanding my Divine Soul Blueprint has helped me become a better parent and gain greater clarity about what I truly want in relationships.

Navigating Challenges in Karmic Relationships

Many of today’s karmic challenges revolve around boundaries, empowerment, authenticity, and changing social roles.

My parents had far less access to therapeutic tools and personal development resources than we do today. They had good intentions, but they didn’t necessarily have the language or support needed to recognize how deeply old patterns influenced their choices.

As a society, we are slowly changing. New perspectives on relationships, emotional health, and personal sovereignty are emerging.

From my Akashic perspective, humanity is still in a significant transition. Progress is rarely linear. We move forward, stumble backward, and then move forward again.

Many people continue to live according to inherited stories and outdated conditioning. Yet more individuals are becoming aware of those patterns and choosing differently.

Parents can influence this shift through how they relate to their children, and many highly self-aware Souls are also incarnating at this time.

Each of us contributes by embodying whatever level of change we can manage in this lifetime.

Solutions for Healing and Moving Forward

In many ways, we are a bridge generation.

We have access to tools that previous generations often lacked: therapy, coaching, trauma-informed approaches, spiritual practices, and a wealth of personal growth resources.

These tools help us explore our inner worlds, understand ourselves more deeply, and make conscious choices about the lives we want to create.

If you believe you are in a negative karmic relationship, it may be time to pause and take stock.

Many of the larger karmic patterns we experience individually are also playing out collectively. Issues such as narcissism, abuse of power, unhealthy dependency, and boundary violations are becoming increasingly visible.

For me, learning about my Soul at a deeper level through my Divine Soul Blueprint and Soul Star Reading—and then embodying that understanding through Human Design—has transformed my life experience.

I believe I have released several negative karmic patterns during this lifetime, particularly around trust and authentic emotional expression.

Discovering that you are in a karmic relationship is not always easy. Yet karmic patterns, energetic restrictions, and Soul Contracts can be understood, healed, and cleared.

When that happens, you can move forward with greater freedom, clarity, and alignment with your Soul’s path.

Shine Through Your Divine Soul Blueprint – ‘S’

Our Divine Soul Blueprint is an energetic reference point for our Soul’s individual aspects, known as ‘individuation’.

When we individuate from the great sea of consciousness, the Soul creates a Divine Blueprint so that it knows how to reference itself and store information through each incarnation (that data has to go somewhere!).

Our Soul does this by creating: –

• 8 Different Energy Centers, containing Divine vibrational characteristics, such as Love or Compassion.
• An origination record of the first one or two Soul Groups we incarnated into (some people call these Starseed Groups), such as Arcturus or Sirius, for example.

‘H’ Is For Human Design

When we incarnate, this is a process that begins 88 days or so before birth. Our Soul’s consciousness enters our body, and through biological and energetic processes, we are created as a Soul having a physical experience.

We don’t necessarily remember our Divine Soul Blueprint, since we ‘fall’ into a lower vibrational state through the Veil of Forgetting.

More people are now remembering their past lives through past-life regression practices, and this is part of the spiritual awakening on Earth.

As we grow in utero, our Design information, or Soul’s intentions for this life, is transmitted energetically into our bodies through a crystalline transmission.

We end up with 3 energetic crystals separated in the body: –

1. The Personality Crystal, also known as ‘Passenger Consciousness’ – it’s not really driving the ‘car’ of our body, but likes to think it is!
2. Our Design Crystal in the Mind, Ajna or Third Eye Chakra, which contains subconscious information and threads that connect us to the field of energy and our Soul.
3. The GPS or Magnetic Monopole Crystal in the Self or Identity Chakra is located in the center of the chest. This draws us to resonant situations and circumstances, literally like a GPS.

Vibration, Past Life Karma, Genetic Karma, Life Lessons

These crystals transmit aspects of who we are into our bodies. When we are born, we inherit a vibration that matches our parents’. This is for survival reasons.

This all sounds pretty good. You can learn to shine through your Soul Blueprint once you know what it is, right?

Yes, and…then we also inherit what I call the twin streams. Our Genetic Karma or inherited Karma from our family line, Karma and Dharma from Past Lives, and any Life Lessons that our Soul is interested in experiencing in the present life.

Then we need to experience life by balancing everything out through free will and choice.

I Is For Intuition

A lot of people are interested in intuition; it is genuinely a fascinating subject. What’s also interesting about learning to shine through your Soul Blueprint is that when you begin to make these connections, you are opening to your Higher Self.

The Higher Self is the connection to our Soul, and when we work with our Soul Blueprint or the Akashic Records, our intuitive abilities naturally expand as a kind of side effect.

N – NLP™ (Neuro-Linguistic Programming™): How Language Affects Us – Inside And Out

In my life Before Children (BC), I co-created and co-ran a training business with another trainer I had worked with in the corporate world.

Between us, we cooked up all sorts of trouble, including creating a course that enabled people to learn to type in one day. It was the ’90s in the UK, and there was a big skills gap at the time.

My business partner, the other trainer at the time, suggested we attend NLP™ training to help grow our business.

Positive Scripts, Positive Results

The training enabled us to script courses in positive ways. This meant that people could be inspired to learn what they needed to know more easily, even from potentially boring computer courses, in a positive way.

NLP™ itself has multiple uses, only limited by how creative you want to get with your solutions. I like to define it as a process that helps us to clarify programs that we run in our mental field, or minds, that are either helpful or unhelpful, positive or negative.

We can use tools and techniques to clear these programs and change how we operate. I hope you enjoy my example in the podcast.

The 9 Human Design Centers – Two More Than Before

In the Human Design Chart model, we all have 9 energy centers or Chakras. This is two more than the Hindu Chakra model of 7 Chakras.

The Heart Chakra now has its own little triangular area on the right-hand side. In my illustration above, it’s pumping out Willfulness and Desire – the arrow and the heart.

Splitting off from that, we have a NEW Chakra called the GPS, Self, or Identity Chakra. On the illustration, it’s the diamond-shaped Chakra in the middle of the chart with the satellite dish inside.

And finally, there is a SPLEEN Chakra. It’s the triangle on the lower left side of the chart that has ‘Game On’ inside it. That makes nine Human Design centers.

Why Do We Have 9 Chakras, Now? The Piscean Age Had 7…

According to data recorded as Human Design Centers in our charts, we genetically mutated into 9-chakra beings in the 1780s. This was also known as the last Golden Age.

We have continued to struggle with our old 7 Chakra ways of doing things in the world. There are now new potentials that come with being a 9-centered being.

In the sense of 7-Chakra behavior, which was all about the Piscean age, we aligned strongly with: –

• Fixed roles and established structure.
• The age of engineering.
• Dominance and rulership.
• Organized religion.

The Potentials Latent Within 9 Centered Humans

So, we have the potential to work with 9 human design centers – or Chakras – right now.

However, we are still adjusting to those abilities. This is because we still habitually resonate with our long-term genetic inheritance of being 7-centered beings.

With 9 Human Design Centers, we have the potential to move away from: –

• Fixed roles and structure: towards creating a freer society with more options.
• Polluting the planet: using our engineering and technological skills to create alternative energy resources for the common good.
• Replaying the old power-over models of leadership: create new governmental structures and global political approaches – replacing the old feudal systems. Dictatorship is nothing new.
• Repressing people with overly restrictive religious views: being able to express our religious views or spiritual views freely and without judgment, as long as they don’t cause harm to others.

The Fifth Root Race and Nine Chakras – What Next?

Edgar Cayce, a famous Akashic Records Reader in the USA, predicted this change in his own words. He didn’t know about Human Design in his lifetime (1877-1945).

Cayce foresaw a transition toward humans he called ‘the Fifth Root Race’. He predicted people being born who: –

• Perceive unity rather than division.
• Awaken latent intuitive and psychic faculties.
• Live with greater alignment between soul and body.
• Understand themselves as co-creators with the divine.

He saw the Fifth Root Race creating a frequency shift in awareness.

In modern-day terms, if you are on a spiritual journey, you may recognize some of the above energetic experiences. You may already be on the path of alignment with your 9 Human Design centers.

9 Chakras Do Create a Different Dynamic

As we spiritually awaken, we realize that many of our old human ways are outdated and need to be released. The struggle comes when people hold onto the old ways of relating. This has continued because there is a huge focus on survival fears and a need to dominate to feel safe.

Part of this desire for release, and the associated fear of it, is demonstrated in modern discussions online. For example, the many discussions of patriarchal versus matriarchal societal roles and approaches.

Leaning Into 9 Human Design Centers

Once we lean into our 9-Centered selves through our Human Design centers, we can accelerate our frequency shift through: –

The Heart and Self – Separating Will and Desire

Separating Will and Desire from the previously central Heart Chakra to create a stronger sense of Self, Identity, and direction.

The Human Design Self Center is also identified as having a crystal inside it. This crystal is part of the system of the Akashic Records. In all of us, it has formed since birth, and is called the Magnetic Monopole. Tuning into this crystal to help us with future decision-making, since it operates just like a modern GPS.

We can use this new energetic awareness to be drawn towards the correct choices for us.

We will receive more clarity around this once we know ourselves and our wills and desires better. This can be learned through energetic study and alignment.

The Spleen Chakra – The Dolphin of the Human Design Centers

Biologically speaking, the spleen stores and filters blood and makes white blood cells that protect you from infection.

From an energetic perspective, the Spleen has an auditory or sonic quality, like a dolphin. People can often ‘sniff’ out danger or fear through their Spleen Chakras.

Combining a new awareness of Self with the Spleen will help us all to understand our motivations. Identifying our fears is the first step on this path.

As evolving humans, we need to learn to relate and resolve differences through processes that don’t require war for resolution.

Learning to Decode Our Emotions Through The Solar Plexus Chakra

Learning to decode our emotional drivers. Through the development of our Solar Plexus Chakra, we’ll be able to lean into sensing, feeling, and interpreting our emotions. Over time, we’ll also increase our ability to sense others’ emotions.

Our unconscious drives will become clearly understood through a deeper emotional connection. We will ultimately be able to relate to the emotions of others telepathically. This is already happening for some people. Currently, through the 7-Center model, we rely on verbal checking and visual cues.

This will radically change how humans relate to each other, since motivations and ideas can’t be hidden or controlled once they can be read.

The 5 Human Design Types

In Human Design, there are five distinct Human Design Aura Types: –

1. The Generator
2. The Manifesting Generator
3. The Manifestor
4. The Projector
5. The Reflector.

Discover Your Chart And Unique Vibrational Chakra Pattern

Based on your birth data, you will have a unique chart and vibrational Chakra Pattern.

Learning which Chakras or Human Design Centers are Defined (colored in) will help you to understand your energy.

In your chart, you may also have Human Design centers or Chakras that are white with red circles inside. These are called Undefined Chakras. Their energy runs differently from the Defined ones that are colored in. The above chart example is Gloria Gaynor’s. Look at all the activity in her Throat Chakra! (The brown square).

Some people also have Open Chakras, shown as completely white on a chart. You will see from Gloria Gaynor’s chart above that she has three of those.

Her Open Chakras are the Heart Chakra, the little triangle with the pink outline. She also has an Open Solar Plexus Chakra: the white triangle outlined in brown on the lower right side. Finally, Gloria has an Open Root Chakra, the square Chakra at the very bottom of the Chart.

Often, people have incarnated with Open Chakras to learn an unusual skill. Their Souls may have intended to offer them the opportunity to grow unique wisdom in their lives.

I love working with oracle cards.

Since my first Tarot deck—the Aleister Crowley Tarot Deck, which I picked up at a fair after having a reading—I’ve continued to use cards both for my personal spiritual practice and in my work with clients.

I used that original Tarot deck for several years. Over time, I experienced an opening to Angel Energy, which led me to explore several of Doreen Virtue’s angel oracle decks. I found them to be both powerful and deeply supportive.

#1 – Rumi Oracle – an Invitation into the Heart of the Divine

Rumi (Jalal ad-Din Rumi) was a Sufi poet (1207–1273) whose inspiration came through practices like whirling, a meditative movement tradition within Sufism.

His poetry has become increasingly popular in the West over the past few decades, and it carries a deeply heart-centered, devotional quality.

I recently purchased this deck and have really been enjoying Kyle Gray’s approach to working with Angelic and spiritual energies.

The illustrations are beautiful, and the messages carry a depth that feels both meaningful and accessible. His style feels fresh, and his interpretation of Angelic energy offers something slightly different while still being very supportive.

#3 – The Starseed Oracle – Rebecca Campbell

This deck, for me, is one of the decks that is a gift that keeps on giving. It’s a deck of unity, reminding us that as Souls we may have experienced many lives in many star systems.

I just flipped through the deck again to remind me of its vibration, and the ‘Fall Into My Arms’ Card fell out – Surrender, holding the opposites, extremes of life.

Learning More About Intuition

We often joke about intuition in the same way that people sometimes joke about their past lives, but how does intuition really work?

The fact is, we all use our intuition to a greater or lesser degree, whether it’s deciding whether to walk down that particular dark alley or making big life decisions.

Along with decision-making, though, learning about our intuition isn’t something that’s currently taught in school. Wouldn’t it be great if we had decision-making classes? And intuitive classes too, not to mention improv classes – don’t get me started.

I’ve been writing about intuition quite a bit on this blog over the years (since 2010, in fact), and it occurred to me that it’s time for an update. Since then, I’ve learned new systems and experienced new approaches to working with my intuition.

So, here are six ways – and six resources – you can work with to grow your intuition.

#1 – How Does Intuition Work Through Pattern Matching?

More scientific, behavioral, or traditional approaches often explain intuition through pattern matching.

For example, Psychology Today describes intuition as:

A faculty in which hunches are generated by the unconscious mind, rapidly sifting through past experiences and cumulative knowledge.

Our subconscious minds are incredibly observant, even though we’re not aware of all the processes our brains are running at any one moment, and that’s why it’s called the subconscious.

Even without consciously processing something, we can pick up information from a person, location, or situation. This information may arrive suddenly as a hunch, a gut feeling, or even that prickle at the back of the neck.

Yet often we’re taught to ignore our innate pattern-matching abilities in favor of socialized behavior or cultural norms.

I’ve long admired Gavin De Becker’s work on helping people understand how to use their intuition to protect themselves.

The Hunch That Something Is Not Safe

Just today, I watched Gavin De Becker on the Diary of a CEO podcast. He mentioned that many women will step into an elevator with a man who gives them an “off” feeling. The gut instinct is there – but they dismiss it because they’ve been socialized to be polite.

So they step into what is essentially a sealed metal box with someone who feels unsafe.

Developing discernment with our pattern matching is important.

I remember traveling as a lone female in the 1990s after returning from a teaching series I had given in Birmingham, UK. I was trudging across a large parking lot with posters, a boom box, and other training gear. (Well, it was the ’90s.)

I suddenly had a strange feeling and looked behind me. Far across the parking lot, a man was walking quickly toward me.

Feeling uneasy, I threw my gear into the trunk and peeled out of the lot – and sure enough, I saw him chasing after me in the rearview mirror.

Sometimes it’s much better to act on a sudden intuitive hit. It’s better to appear rude and stay out of the elevator than to ignore your instincts and end up in a dangerous situation.

#2 – Connecting To Your Intuition Through Your Soul Blueprint

Since 2016, I’ve been offering Soul Star Readings, which give clients a direct, conscious connection to their Divine Soul Blueprint.

The Soul Blueprint acts as a guide to who we are at the soul level and includes information about our gifts, talents, and natural abilities.

Think of your Human Design Chart as an energetic ‘selfie’, in multi-dimensional or fractal terms.

It tracks your Soul’s intentions through your innate or subconscious design, energetically imprinted 88 days before birth. This is matched with your planetary influences on the day, and at the specific time of your birth.

Combining data from 3 ancient energetic reading systems – the I-Ching, the Hindu Chakra system, and the Kabbalah, or Tree of Life, the chart is created by matching human DNA Codon data with the I-Ching gates and Astrology.

Learning about your Human Design Type and Authority can give you lots of insight into how your intuition works.

For example, I’m an Emotional Authority, so feel and touch (through my palm chakras) can give me a lot of sensory information to decode when I’m working with my intuition, for myself and for clients.

#4 – Learning More About Your Intuition Through Human Design Gates

Over time, I’ve noticed connections between our Divine Soul Blueprint and Human Design Gates, which can clarify life themes such as life lessons or past-life patterns.

When I work with someone’s Akashic Records, I also connect with their Inner Circle Spirit Guides – usually four to six guides who support us during our time on Earth.

During these sessions, I’ve noticed that certain Human Design Gates can “light up” energetically for a client. When this happens, the gates often reveal additional insight into how that person’s intuition functions.

These energetic connections can deepen our understanding of our intuitive gifts and how they naturally express themselves.

#5 – How Does Intuition Work Through The Success Codex?

The Success Codex was originally designed as a practical tool for career and business decisions. It definitely works well for that. Over time, though, I’ve noticed energetic threads connecting this system of energy reading to our Divine Soul Blueprints as well.

So what exactly is the Success Codex?

In simple terms, it’s a system based on 10 planetary energies and 3 astrological positions. Aligning with these energetic gateways helps to remind you how to become the most successful version of yourself.

Because the system also incorporates sacred geometry, it has a similar energetic flavor to the Gene Keys. Yet, it’s much simpler and faster to apply in everyday life.

During training to give Success Codex sessions, my teacher pointed out a specific way that intuitive information comes through for me. This pattern also applies when I’m reading for clients. Recognizing this pattern has helped me refine how I work intuitively and focus my intuitive abilities more clearly during sessions.

Understanding systems like the Success Codex can offer another lens for exploring how intuition works. This can also be helpful when it comes to making aligned choices in business, career, and personal direction.

#6 – How Does Intuition Work Through Your Spirit Guides?

Your Inner Circle Spirit Guides can also be a valuable intuitive resource, along with any Teacher Guides who may appear during certain times in your life.

Simply making the connection with your guides can help you recognize how they communicate with you energetically.

Guides can contact us in many ways: through ideas, words, or sentences that seem to appear out of nowhere. Sometimes the connection comes as a physical sensation – like tingles in a chakra – or as an impulse to move, write, or create something.

Understanding these signals can help you check in with your guides when you’re making decisions or learning more about yourself.

That said, guides are exactly that – guides. They provide perspective and information, but they’re not here to tell you what to do. That would interfere with your free will and the experiences you’re meant to navigate.

Instead, they add insight to your decision-making process and your broader understanding of your life path.

So, how does intuition work?

It often begins with subconscious pattern recognition but can also involve deeper energetic awareness, personal intuitive systems – even spiritual guidance.

I always recommend learning how your unique intuition functions on the spiritual journey.

You can learn through psychology, energetic systems like Human Design, your Soul Blueprint, or connections with spirit guides.

Focusing on this aspect of Self can help you to develop greater trust in your inner knowing and use it more confidently in everyday decisions.

Premonitions or Psychic Experiences – How do I Know if I’m Having Them?

Working with the Akashic Records can bring about some fascinating side effects.

Many clients report a reconnection with their dreams, or that their dreams become more vivid, after having an Akashic Records Reading.

One of the most common “side effects” is that intuitive abilities in other areas start to expand.

Surprising? Perhaps.

But it makes sense: the more we explore the Records, the more attuned we become to subtle energy and inner knowing.

Our intuitive “Clair” senses—clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), and others—can strengthen and become more accurate as a result of this work.

Was I Having a Premonition?

Lying in bed in 2013, ready to sleep, I had a strange vision.

A hooded figure appeared at my bedroom door – in my psychic vision, not in physical reality!

The figure had no face, only a shadow where a face should be.

A vision like this could easily provoke fear, but with experience comes the ability to stay calm and allow it to unfold, since such images often carry deeper meaning.

The figure stretched out its arm toward me and seemed to glide across the room – almost as if on wheels – passed through the bed, and disappeared behind me.

Even stranger, it was singing, to the tune of “Let’s Talk About Sex” by Salt-N-Pepa:

“Let’s talk about death, baby…”

Now, I’ve had my fair share of mystical or downright weird experiences (and plenty of people have thought I’m weird for them!), but this was unusual even for me.

I’ve seen hooded figures before (see Angelic Energy for more), but not like this.

I noted it mentally and then moved on until the next day.

The Real-Life Event

At the time, my oldest daughter was home from school with a cold. The following morning, she was feeling better, so I drove her to school as usual.

When we turned out of our driveway, I noticed a young man mowing the grass with a ride-on mower—the kind where you stand upright to operate it. As many do, he wore headphones, probably listening to music as he worked.

As we drove past him, I suddenly flashed back to the dream:

• The music (headphones),
• The faceless figure (hood and mask),
• The smooth, wheeled motion toward me.

The realization hit instantly. I slammed on the brakes—just as the man abruptly turned left, straight into the road in front of my car.

If I hadn’t stopped, we would have hit him.

It was a perfect echo of the dream, bizarre as that dream had been—and the meaning was suddenly crystal clear. The premonition had been a warning, one that might have prevented an accident. I was profoundly grateful.

How Do You Know Whether to Act on Premonitions? 3 Keys

Here are three keys I’ve found helpful for navigating premonitions or psychic insights: –

1. Stay Present. Presence is everything. Because I was fully in the moment, I could recognize the dream’s imagery as it surfaced in waking life—and respond instantly.
   
2. Record or Share Your Experiences.  Make a note—mental, written, or spoken—of any strong intuitive visions, dreams, or sensations. Journaling, voice notes. Telling a trusted friend can help anchor them in your awareness, so you recognize them when relevant moments arrive.
   
3. Ask for Guidance. If a vision feels significant or unsettling, ask for insight—through prayer, meditation, or simply quiet reflection. I didn’t do that this time, but I did mention the dream to someone I was working with, which helped keep it active in my awareness.

Everyday Premonitions

Not every premonition is dramatic. Some are simple and often funny.

For instance, years ago, on the way to my ex-husband’s brother-in-law’s house, I suddenly knew he’d cut off his beloved mullet. My partner disagreed, convinced he’d never part with it. But when we arrived, sure enough, he had short hair!

Premonitions aren’t always life-changing. Reflecting on them and talking about them openly with people who can hold the space can strengthen your intuitive awareness.

Keep a Log of Your Premonitions

To track and validate your experiences: –

Journal them.
Write or type your premonitions as soon as they happen. Include the date and time, if possible.

Review regularly.
Review your notes every few months. You may find that even small, easily overlooked premonitions came true.

Share selectively.
Share your journal only with those who understand and support your intuitive exploration. Discussing these experiences safely helps integrate them and deepen your trust in your own perception.

Final Thought

Premonitions remind us that intuition is real and alive within each of us.

They’re not about predicting the future—they’re about a relationship with it: learning to listen to subtle signals and stay aligned with presence and trust.

Spirit Guides – What Are the Types?

Spirit Guides are Souls who are no longer incarnated in physical form, but they support us on the Spiritual Journey.

Guides can be: –

• Loved Ones who have passed, but who revisit us to support our journey.
• Angels or Archangels
• Ascended Masters, such as the Buddha, the Christ Consciousness, or Kwan Yin.
• Star Beings or higher-dimensional beings
• Nature Spirits or Devas
• Inner Circle or Master Guides within the Akashic Records.

Some Guides stay with us throughout our entire lifetime, while others come and go depending on our needs and growth.

These words have been a touchstone for me, reminders of the ever-present support surrounding us:

Wherever I walk, I have help.
They all have my face.
They are beautiful.
I am a piece of God.
I am quantum.
My guides are endless.
I have help.
My intuition comes from the creative source.
I have help from the air, the animals, the trees, the dirt that I walk on.
Love permeates everything around me.
It is part of “innate,” and I do not ask “where?” for there is no “where.”
I do not ask “who?” for the “who” is the One—and it is I.

Tools to help You Connect

Anything that validates your experiences and helps dissolve disbelief will strengthen your connection with the various types of Spirit Guides.

• Keep a journal of intuitive experiences. Note dates, times, dreams, or synchronicities. Reviewing your notes later often reveals patterns and validations you might have missed.
  
• Stay awake to signs. Everything can be a reading. The more aware you are, the more easily you’ll notice the guidance already around you.
  
• Look for symbols in nature—an animal crossing your path, a phrase overheard, a sudden song lyric that resonates. Spirit speaks through every channel available.
  
• Create a meeting space in meditation. Choose a peaceful inner landscape where you can return regularly to meet your Guides. Over time, that space becomes energetically charged and easier to access.
