It really helps to plan out your day in such a way that you get things done the way you would want them to. One great time management tip is to club together similar activities. For example, if you want to get done with the kitchen work, do it so all at once. You might plan to first wash half of the dishes and then work on your home business for a while, and then get back to the dishes again and clean them up. Such a work schedule will only feel very scattered and confusing- when you are in the kitchen, complete all your kitchen work and then sit down with your work. Schedule fixed times in a day to respond to emails and return phone calls. In the same way you could also schedule fixed hours in the day for your business research and related activities. This way you will get your work done in an efficient, organized manner.

Outsourcing your work

If you feel that you have just too much work to do, you could try outsourcing some of it to a virtual assistant. By doing so, you can free yourself from most of your workload and concentrate in the areas that really need your attention. There’s nothing wrong in delegating your work to someone else as it greatly cuts down on your work pressure and helps you do a better job.

Cutting down on domestic chores

Another great time management tip is to cut down on your domestic chores by setting fixed days in the week for doing particular tasks. For example, you could reserve a day in the week only for grocery shopping. Make sure that you carry a list with you of all the things that you need to get. This way you don’t waste time running to the grocery store every time you need to buy something. It’s also a great idea to prepare for meals in advance. You could cook up a stew and refrigerate it. Whenever you need it, you can heat it and add in something new every time for different flavors. This way you will not have to cook up a new stew each time.

Sharing the work

While things could get a little too hectic for you, there are many ways of cutting down your stress. One good way to ensure that you don’t overload yourself with work is to share your work with other members in the family. You could get your kids to help you out with the laundry or your husband to help you in the kitchen. You will find that sharing your household work will actually help you manage your time better.

At times, work at home moms get bogged down by the endless workload that they need to keep up with. You may need to rush off to drop off your kids to school and then hurry back home to take that important call from a prospective client. In the middle of all this you will also need to attend to the dirty dishes and the laundry. By the time the day ends, you are completely exhausted, and that is not a good thing. The whole point of being a work at home mom is to enjoy being with your family and working on your home business. Delegating some of the household work to other members in the family is a great way to ensure that you don’t get too pressurized. You could begin by asking the kids to take the pet out for a walk, or your husband to get the groceries, and so on.

Creating a solid business plan
If you are a work at home mom looking out to start your home based business, it is absolutely essential that you have a business plan ready. Without a proper business plan, you are bound to lose direction and not know how far you need to go or how much you need to achieve. A business plan is nothing but a planned out document that states your business ideals and goals; a record of what you would like to achieve and what are the available resources you have to get you to your goals.

Being a work at home mom need not always be a complicated, hectic situation where you are always running from one errand to another. Once you follow the above-mentioned guidelines, you are sure to enjoy your time as a happy and successful work at home mom.

Spending quality time together

The same way you invest time in your work and your kids, your relationship too needs time and nourishment. Any relationship needs to be worked at and you cannot take the presence of your spouse for granted. Spending quality time together on a regular basis is the key to a successful marriage. You can have some part of your busy day exclusively reserved for you and your spouse. You could either go on a dinner date or simply spend some time at home playing cards. Whatever you do, make sure that you stop worrying about your work and give your undivided time and attention to your spouse.

Share the household duties

Since you are working from home and everyone else is out working or attending school, you might end up doing all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. It does not need to be necessary for you to do all the housework, particularly when you are already working. Having set up your office at work does not mean that you also have the time and energy to do household work. Get your family and spouse to help you out whenever they can. Sharing domestic chores will not just ease the pressure on you but also help you spend more time with your spouse. A great idea is to cook a meal together with your spouse and enjoy each other’s company in the kitchen. Cleaning and cooking need not always be monotonous activities; you can do it together with your family and turn it into a fun “cleaning party.”

Doing things together

It may look like your spouse is perpetually busy in office and you have very little time for each other. Make it a point to spend that little time that you have to connect with each other. Why not pick up your spouse from his work place and enjoy a good drive together? Take whatever opportunity you get to be with your spouse and make the most of it. A great idea is to go shopping together- it might be something as mundane as shopping for household groceries, but when you do it together, it turns out to be all the more interesting and fun. The idea is to turn every ordinary event into something special and extraordinary. There is beauty and joy in everyday, small, and simple things- it is up to us how we make the most of it.

Get your spouse involved in your work

It’s an excellent idea to involve your spouse in your work- not only do you get to spend more time together, but also get to share ideas and views. It’s always good to have someone to show your work to, and who better than your spouse?

As a work at home mom, you get the best of two worlds- family life and professional satisfaction. Learning to find the right balance between work and family will definitely bring in oodles of success and happiness.
