FINAL CALL FOR ENTRIES 2014/2015 Grant

The WYNG Masters Award Commission (WMA Commission) launches a final call for proposals from artists and photographers from both Hong Kong and the international community, to create new photo-based work in Hong Kong, focusing on the theme of WASTE. The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2015.

A three-member Selection Panel will choose the WMA Commission recipient, who will be awarded a HKD$250,000 grant that will contribute towards production of the successful proposal and a public event featuring the completed work. Recognised as an issue of critical importance to Hong Kong, WASTE is the nominated theme for the 2014/15 grant.

Venus Envy is excited to announce that Donald K. and Komi Olaf’s art will be featured in the shop this month.

Donald K. is a Canadian based Creative Director, graphic and UI designer, mixed media visual artist and photographer. He started off in music at age 6 until 17 at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada and attended Canterbury High School of the Performing Arts where he was first introduced to visual arts, 35 mm film photography, videography, sound design and desktop publishing. Donald specializes in fashion, bridal, commercial and art photography.

Komi Olaf is a Nigerian artist currently living in Toronto and has been showing his work at Fall down Gallery in Ottawa over the last year. His work has been featured in shows at Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

With the recent launch of our school this past summer in association with the mondomedeusah creative arts group, we are pleased to present Art Deco Photography 101 / Sunday November 11th / Art Deco Fashion & Nude. In this upcoming class our students will be studying and learning how to shoot Art Deco-style photography circa 1920s and 30s. We will be shooting in black & white and students will learn how to capture this timeless look au natural by using a basic SLR camera with professional lighting. It's all hands-on in the studio. Models, hair+makeup by EBM Agency. Featured instructor, John Smith (photographer and contributing editor of Fujirumors.com). Our classes are open to amateur, beginner and professional photographers alike.
