And with that in mind, I decided to overhaul some of my websites that are getting traffic but little to no clicks.  I used very plain themes with 336×280 ads.  I also customized the banner for the website with Paint.net software.  Visitors are naturally more trusting of a site that has put in some customization as to a site that just throws ads on a virtually blank page.

One bit of data I also hope to compile from this is whether black or white background works best for specific websites and whether the complimentary Adsense and writing background colors I added to the black background WP templates helped.  By the way, the templates I used are extremely plain.  I do use this Vigilance theme on some of my sites and the adsense conversion as done decently, but I wanted to try to improve upon that.

In my estimation, if you can convert 8% of your traffic or more with at least a 500 unique span, you are doing very good.  Some of my sites are outperforming this mark, but I would like more traffic to see how they hold up with more people.  Still, conversion is conversion and as long as the clicks are valid, then I can probably expect to see similar results down the raod.

If you’re CTR is 12% or higher, then you are on an elite level.  15% is about as high as you can hope for.  Anything above 15% click-through-rate and you deserve a gold star.

Currently my adsense has no images near it - only text.  It is in the left hand column with the text immediately to the right.  I will add images if I don’t see a better CTR.

I’m headed back to Adsense.  The prices of the clicks do range but at least I’m getting something.  These affiliate programs are killing my profit margins.  They will get clicked every now and then but I am getting zero production - even on very high traffic websites.  Hopefully, Adsense can continue giving me a high cost per click and I can maintain that portion of revenue on the Internet.

Also, on the WarriorForum, there is talk that ClickBank is not registering a lot of sales for affiliates - and even proof of it as people are purposely signing up under their links and nothing is registering in the way of sales.  I sold one item through click bank and ever since then they have been deducting money from my balance as I have not sold any additional items.  Looks like they’re going to get a freebee on me because I am quitting Click bank.

In other words it’s another money scam. Don’t sign up for these things. They never work and you end up losing money and making someone else money. Is this a scam? I’d be shocked if anybody actually made over $2 hour doing what these guys say to do in their Google cash kit - whatever the hell that is. Google doesn’t have any cash kit so they’re using the Google trademark without permission I’m sure. The purpose of this is to give their little scheme some credibility by using the Google name.

How are these guys making money? First, shipping. Second, you get billed unless you’re a super hero that can somehow undangle your credit card number from their reccuring charges. If you have signed up for this, immediately cancel the service or product.

Most of my income is not passive (although I’m moving toward that direction).  The reason I’m not making passive income is because I keep expanding my operations to include more and more sites.  I own a ton of websites.  But you certainly don’t have to go this route.

There is a very simple blue print to making money that I have.  I will probably make it an ebook and offer it for sale.  This book will extract all the junk and get exactly to the point.  But back to the question at hand, yes you can make money and its really not all that hard - in fact I have a lot of fun making money off my websites because its something I enjoy.

The thing that really makes me angry is the more clicks my website has, they make sure to average them down lower.  In effect, just because I am successful at having a high Click Through Rate (CTR), I am penalized and I get less per click.  For instance, in one fashion website, I believe the average click to be worth $0.21.  Fine.  Chitika was paying me $0.11 on average.  Google was paying me about $0.08 for awhile (after they started out at 4 cents).  Now that I’m getting more clicks on Chitika (because I completely took off Google Adsense), they started whittling me down to $0.09 and $0.06 to lower my average click and therefore lower the amount of money I receive.

This sucks and I’m leaving.  As soon as I get my next payout, I’m cutting all Chitika ads.  The worst thing about Chitika is I can’t see the channels so there’s no way for me to tell where other clicks are coming from.  Still, my other niches are at a much higher CPC so there’s no worry about that variable coming into play (as far as my lowering of CPC mentioned above).

The way to go is affiliate.  It’s true there will be many days without a sale, but depending on how busy your websites are you’ll probably only need 1 to 5 sales to equal your PPC campaigns for the month.  This is being conservative.  Until someone comes along that is more fair, I’m retiring my websites from these ripoffs.

Websites that have good search engine rank will make more money because they are essentially getting free advertising.  This is where good knowledge of search engine optimization helps.  You can also advertise by using an adwords campaign.  This lands your website on the sponsored results section.  You pay for every time your website is clicked.  Typically this costs 15 to 75 cents, but sometimes more money is involved when you’re in more competitive niches.

Some webmasters have been very successful in taking this for pay shortcut.  In fact, I have seen marketing ebooks recommending it.  Remember, the money online game is a very competitive one.  You really need to have a good game plan and strategy to bank.  Once you do, you will see both your passive and regular income grow rapidly.  It is very satisfying to watch a chart of your advertising and product dollars skyrocketing upwards from your humble beginnings.

If you don’t have a job, don’t just sit around playing around on the Internet.  Get started with a web business and start making money right now.  Just sign up for an adsense account and either buy web hosting with a domain name or get a blogger account for free.  You can begin making money right away.  Google pays out once you reach $100 in your adsense account.  You can also get an adwords account right now.

One reason this is happening is money is more efficiently spent on the Internet.  You have the ability to directly tailor your advertising dollars to the exact market you desire to reach.  This is not possible on TV.  You must reach a targeted, but still more general audience here.  Also, the cost on websites can be much cheaper.  It is true that TV usually reaches larger audience and you capture a full screen when you do get your 15 or 30 second segment, but with Internet sites, you can purchase a top banner and have your website continually seen by viewers.

All this translates into a winning formula for top bloggers.  In fact, I believe larger, more mainstream companies will increase their visibility on websites in the near future as they look to add more targeted, cheaper advertising spots.  My prediction is more budget money will be spent on website banner ads in the immediate future as tv and the web continue to mesh.

Nevertheless, one has to wonder how a formation such as an online casino is doing.  Internet websites operate with a substantially less overhead and thus are more effecient in terms of making money.  Moreover, although they do not carry the same touristic draw that brick-and-mortar locations do, casino games are still very popular online as many patrons frequent them.

Certainly, the economy is effecting many traditional businesses and notions of thought.  Consequently, many are seeking refuge online in order to reduce the man power necessary to maintain a profitable business.  Although it is technically not all passive income, most web money does come automatically.
