And again today I've come with some useful and practical tips on money making online and I believe they will definitely be of your help. Though most of you'll be thinking "Oh man, again the same boring tips to grab, hasn’t he come up with any new ideas?” But don’t worry the tips you are going to read after you have read these sentences are “Tips for Forever”. They will work wonders for you if you can implement them in your daily “Things to Do” list. These ideas will help you earn some consistent income. And the bonus point is even you don't have to work it out full time; you can work on part-time basis in these sectors depending upon your need and as per the interest you show in it.

So, why just stop here? Let's head straight to the ideas that will definitely help you earn some extra money from home, only if you are serious in making some money.

Freelance writing: - If you are not kidding yourself; you are serious about making some extra-income from home, then perhaps you would like to write on several given topics. But a question may arise from the readers, “Why choose writing while I can do several other jobs online"?

>> Auctioning Products

Another means of easy income generation that you might be interested in is auctioning products for sale at sites like E-bay, Amazon, and Craigslist. The products you are preparing to sell shouldn’t be necessarily brand new, but you can use the products which you are not using right now or the products that have a place now in your store room. Perhaps you might find something useful in your store that is useful for others other than you. Let’s just say, you had been tour to Africa 10 years ago, and you have African mask gifted by the African people but now frankly you are starting to get bored with the same old-stuff, so why not arrange and auction them for sale? After all who knows who other person might be interested in your stuff collections? It would be probably good to get handful of money rather than leaving all the unused stuffs behind damaged.

>> Go on with some freelancing projects

Regarding freelancing, when it comes to my personal experience; freelancing is a great way to earn some extra bucks from home. Freelance is something that is done from home with an expectation to make some extra pocket money or whatever name you give to earning some serious bucks. But to a pity, it is seen that, “Most of the people those who are new to freelancing or who have a very little knowledge in freelancing believe that it is limited within very small area.” But they are wrong. Freelancing is not just only about writing but it also contains several projects and areas of interests such as Web Design, Architect, Computer Programmer, Article Writer, and Content Editor and so on. And if you are interested, remember: only if you are interested, then get ahead and visit http://www.getafreelancer.com to find out some great freelancing projects that fit right for you or just search for “Freelancing Jobs” in any of your preferred search engines, whether it is Google, Bing, or Yahoo.

>> Join Virtual Call Centre Jobs

Consider joining virtual call centre jobs if you wish to make some money online from home. But before you take any further steps, let me clearly explain you “What the heck really are these Virtual Call Centre Jobs”? A virtual call center is a call centre in which the organization’s representatives are geographically dispersed, rather than being situated at work stations in a building operated by the organization. Virtual jobs can be done either by forming a group or in a home depending upon the employee’s choice and needs. If you are interested in doing virtual call center jobs, then consider going through Liveops http://liveops.com , and/or GE Call Centers http://gecallcentercareers.com.

So let’s hope you just discovered some new ideas on money making online. And hey wait, I need your help. “Please let me know how am I doing? Are these tips doing well for you?” How about some comment love or just sending me an e-mail at geekygeek.sid@gmail.com?

How Do I use Social Media to Get Myself a New Job?

1. Setting up multiple accounts will help you to present your best face to employers. Keep your account separate for both Professional use and for contacting your friends. You can consider creating an a/c for your professional use on sites like Linkedin, Brightfuse and Naymz and use Myspace & Live Journal for your friends. Managing multiple accounts is not that difficult as you think. Sites like Friendfeed will help you manage multiple accounts. Besides two of the most popular social networking sites where you can set up both a/c for friends and work are Facebook and Twitter.
2. Be sure to create a video resume of yourself. But the first priority before you create your own video resume is you ought to own your own website. Thousands of people have posted CVs on You Tube, although the quality is highly variable.
If you are unable to bear professional production costs, you can just follow simple things. Use simple sound editing tools and simple handycams to shoot your video, but it must be tried that it is perfect from your side.

3. Be sure to follow the right personnel. Ensure yourself that you have right contacts: Put together a list of companies you’ve got in your sights, find out who works there and, if possible, who’s in charge of hiring. Then make friends with or follow them on social-networking sites.

4. Keep yourself updated in a particular field. Establish yourself as an expert in a particular field or subject. You are offered with bunch of opportunities to help yourself establish as a guiding light in your niche by the social-networking sites.
“Align yourself with good content and share it with others by answering difficult IT questions on user forums and social networks,” advises Judith Germain. LinkedIn’s answers application is a great place to put this into practice. Browse through questions that other LinkedIn members have posted in your area of expertise or search by keyword. The more good-quality answers you provide, the more visible you become.
>> A Google-launched product website Google Products lets you sort the results from low price to high; you can compare the price of your products and may select them to your advantage. Besides, you can always save a ton of money by buying on E-bay.
>> If you are fun-loving and think yourself skilled enough, then you can hairdo yourself with the help of your partner. You can color your wife’s hair and she may in return cut your hair. It will help you cut the costs of hair-coloring and cutting which was used to be spent in the saloon plus it will add deepness in your love. Just imagine, “Wouldn’t it be fun the partners cutting and coloring their hairs with no one around”? Pretty fun, eh!
>> You can save about $30 a month by turning down one thermostat. Keeping your water heater at 100 degrees Fahrenheit is adequate for most households, yet most settings are 125 degrees. So, consider this point and yep you know, $30 is not a small amount.
>> Keeping your air conditioner at Fahrenheit of 77 degrees will save you about $125 in a month. A famous quote goes for the term “Saving” here, “A thousand mile begins from a single step.” So start saving right from now so that you could become financially capable if not that rich and you would have probably collected much more in the future.
>> Learn skills. You can make most out of your home works reducing the expenses, and plus it will keep you fit and healthy. You don’t have to take help of others; you become independent. And nothing is much better than becoming independent, right?
>> Wouldn’t it just be good to shop online? Most of the online shops have a free delivery facility at your doorstep. This will cut your expenses on home delivery of bought products.
>> Keep track of whatever you are buying or have bought. A handy diary would be probably good to note down all the money transactions in that day. You can find out where all your money went at the end of the day.
>> It’d be a good idea to buy products by comparing their prices. Don’t just get tucked into one place; but rather go and have a look around at other shops and compare the prices which suit you and your budget.
Will be back soon in few days... Till then happy reading...!

How can I make money Blogging?

There are many bloggers around in the blogosphere making money with their blogs either working part time or full time. Some run their blogs for passion, and some for money. 5. Save 10 % of your total income. You keep saving, and the money goes being collected and whenever you are in a problem or if you some important task for you to perform then you can use your saved money. Afterall "Money Saving is Money Earning", right?

6. One of the strange and odd ways of making money online for you is by selling postcards. But before selling, you have to find someone who is interested to part with a large number of postcards, or a lot. The subject can be of anything but must be interesting like Realphoto, Transportation or whatever you are interested in and you feel that it can be sold.

My final words of Wisdom for you:- "Though things seem to be odd, but in this harsh economic situation it can't be called odd, because everyone is interested in making some money, and making yourself some money to help you overcome your small problems in a legal way isn't that odd, is it?" Please, feel free to drop your comments.
Okay...! Yes, you heard that right! Tiger woods, one of the sportsman now stands out as the first billionaire sportsman as stated by the billionaire's magazine- http://Forbes.com. Now we know, why Tiger Woods has been throwing clubs and swearing on the golf course so much over the last few months - he was just over-wrought, anxious that he would lose out in the race to become the first billionaire athlete in history.

Well, now he can just relax and be cool. Yup, he's won.
Forbes, the money magazine the magazine of choice for those who like to weigh their money rather than count it, brings the news that Woods' 10m cheque for winning the FedExCup meant he cracked the 10-figure bracket.

Forbes has been tracking athlete earnings since before Tiger turned pro. Woods had earned a cumulative $895m (million) going into 2009 from prize money, appearance fees, endorcements, bonuses and his golf course design business. If you add his $10.5 millions in 2009s prize money, the FedEx bonus and his take so far this year from his more than $100m in annual off-the-course earnings, Woods' career earnings are now 10 figures. Yeah baby, that's awesome, huh? Woods has never been less than certain of his own commercial worth and has maximized it to the full. Good for him na? There are plenty of athletes who have been stupid with their money, but he outstands from them. Well, let's say a thanks to the Forbes magazine too. It will get a lot of publicity for a story, the accuracy of which, as it admits near the end of the piece, could only ever be confirmed by Woods' accountant or the great buddy himself.

The 34 year old handsome, who is particularly an American, has won 14 major championships, been the world's highest paid sportsman since 2002 when he overlooked Formula one's Michael Schumacher. The bulk of Wood's earnings come from his long-term partnership with Nike, which pays him more than 2o million pounds in a year, around a third of his total earnings from sponsorship, advertising, and endorsements. Woods also makes around 6.2 million pounds for each golf course he designs. Isn't it extreme cool? Well, c'ya soon, till then take care, keep smiling and Rock on! Liked the post? Wanna do me favor ?
Hey there, yes that’s you! How u doin’? Let’s hope fine, great ‘n’ doing cool. So you are a college dude looking to save some money, huh? Okay, finally that’s a great news to hear from you. So how can you save money at college? Here are some tips to help you save more money at college:-
a. Control buying fast food. Yeah baby, that’s appropriate. When you add up how much you spend on fast food each week, you’ll be glad to find that the same amount that you spent on fast food could be stretched further at the grocery store. Test yourself by keeping a track of your food expense and you’d be surprised to know how much more you could be getting for each dollar.
b. It’s always better for a college student to have some spare money. Take benefit of secondhand goods. They are no bad for you, they are equally useful to you. You can get furniture, small kitchen appliances and much more at a sale in various shops. You also can use secondhand books but keep in mind that they are of the right edition. This way you’ll have some spare money to spend in your daily activities.
c. Hey, one thing; get used to learn what activities you can enjoy for free rather than the activities that cost you a good deal of money. When you could do a thing for free, then what’s the use of spending money there, right? You can chat with your friends, read inspiring books at the library, go to parks or your friend’s more and there are much more things that you do for free. Well, not that bad, huh?
d. Giving yourself an allowance can help you save money too. It’d be good for you to keep on an allowance for things such as entertainment, clothing and some special purchases. Get attached to manage your budget no matter how tight things get. Remember boy, It’s never too early to start saving money.
e. Keep track of your spending. Make a list of your compulsory monthly expenses. If you track your spending, then you have a idea on where your money is heading to. Once you have got the idea, you could get started planning and act accordingly.
f. Join a credit union. Don’t just sign up for a random bank that’s giving away t-shirts or freebies for registration. Track down a credit union in town, or it’s cool to research some for the term “Online Banks”.
g. If possible, then don’t get a credit card for you unless you really need it. Credit cards are just a mere attraction that may plunge you deep into debt.
h. Don’t you think your are quite smart? Yes, you are that smart. A smart guy always makes smart choices so always make smart choices. You can do anything you want, but you can’t do everything you want, right? Decide what’s important to you, and pursue that. Remember to leave time for yourself.

How can I make money online?

If you have plunged into debt, debt settlement might work as a useful solution to become debt free. Debt settlement prevents debt collection agencies from harassing you. Through debt settlement, you can cut down your debt amount to the extent of 50%. With popular debt settlement programs like Debt Settlement USA, you can wipe the slate clean.

What Debt Settlement Is All About?

Through debt settlement, you bargain with your creditors to lower the amount you’re obliged to pay. You are able to do this without anybody’s help. Nevertheless, majority of debt-ridden individuals opt to go for a debt settlement company. Rather than making payments for your outstanding bills, you direct that money towards the debt settlement company. They deposit it into a trust account for you subsequent to taking a part to compensate for their fees. The more payments you miss, the more your credit score goes down. When your credit score is quite low, the settlement company would attempt to bargain with your creditors to lessen your overall debt amount. They subsequently utilize the funds from your trust account to pay off the lowered balances.

Why Do Creditors Accept A Debt Settlement Program?

Creditors usually accept to lower your debt. The cause for this is quite straightforward: by this time, your credit score becomes so less that the creditors are concerned that you would not be able to pay the whole amount of debt. They would instead prefer to get a part of their money than receive nothing at all. Hence, they accept the reduced amount.

Advantages of Debt Settlement

With debt settlement, you can save plenty of money. On certain occasions, creditors are ready to pardon up to 50% of your debt. When a debt is eliminated, you need not bother about it. If a debt settlement company is guiding you, they would handle all the formalities and negotiations on your behalf.

Doing It On Your Own

You don’t have to employ a debt settlement company to work as an arbitrator. You can carry out negotiations with your creditors single-handedly. It would require some time and study, but it can help you save money if you don’t have to pay a monthly fee to a settlement company. Some individuals become anxious because of all the formalities, but you must not be. It is not unusual for people to directly negotiate with a credit card company or a bank.

Repairing Your Credit History

When you’re no more weighed down by debt, you can begin to restore your credit rating. It’s a gradual procedure, but if you’re careful about not falling into debt once more, you can mend your credit score within one or two years.

Begin by requesting for a store card. Utilize it frequently. Just ensure that you make each monthly payment as scheduled. Shortly, you would be eligible for a credit card, then an auto loan or even a home mortgage loan.

You can find various ways of money making around you, your community & the blogosphere. But I am talking here about making money the unusual way.Yes, you can earn money getting out of the track and performing something creative & all in a legal way. So, not taking much of your time, I’m here presenting you some of the tips to earn you some extra legal money:-

1. If you have a blog, then you may consider doing some advertisement campaigns. The more the traffic, the more the income. But you mustn’t only be focused only in your income raising , you can’t neglect the quality maintenance of your blog.

2. Perhaps you might be interested in writing, or perhaps you may have hidden writing skills within you. The time has come to sharpen your skills. Write whatever is within inside you, and look for audiences’ reactions. Besides writing for yourself, there are many freelance writing jobs available, where you can write for others.

3. If you think yourself to be quite updated enough on the worldly affairs and to some skills, then you should be pondering upon being a financial advisor.

4. If you have got a handy cam,and if you have something interesting to share, then you can upload it to programs like YouTube or Flixya and get started earning as per your hits and per views in the internet.

5. If you are skilled in some sorts of handicrafts like:- Bamboo Art, Painting, Making Dolls, or some other useful handicrafts, then you can arrange a sale of them; making them more popular and giving more exposure with the help of websites

6. Look for some useful stuffs which is of no use for you now or stuffs that have a place now in your old storeroom. The useless things for you might be important for others. Arrange a sale of them in sites like E-Bay or Craigslist. This can be the way to help you earn some extra money.

Let’s hope you will find these lists useful. Please feel free to give feedbacks!
Be on the lookout for emerging opportunities, especially those that involve Internet skills. With the cost of education soaring, we asked our experts to focus primarily on careers you can get started in without a four-year degree.

1. Physician's assistant -- The economy may be down, but people still get sick and need to go to the doctor. As the population continues to age, health-care fields will continue to see strong growth, says Ryan. Physician's assistants usually take a two-year course (in addition to required college coursework and/or degree) and need to pass a certification exam. Then, they assist doctors in hospitals and clinics or in rural areas they may provide care if a doctor isn't always available. 27% projected growth, according to the BLS. Median annual salary: $88,575

2. Database administrator -- One thing's for sure in this uncertain economy -- companies continue to pile up data and need experts to make sure it's properly organized and securely stored. Some database administrators get started with just a two-year degree -- and if you enjoy computer programming, this is one of the best-paid areas in computer tech. 28.6% projected growth. Median annual salary: $73,388

3. Video game designer -- The gaming field is exploding, notes Ryan. There are hugely successful massive multiplayer online role-playing games, casual games to play on computers, PDAs and cell phones, as well as games for Xbox, Nintendo and other proprietary game systems. If you're a game nut, consider learning how to create games to cash in on this trend.

"These skills are often self-taught," she notes. "And programming jobs pay extremely well." 35% projected growth. Median annual salary: $66,664

4. Medical equipment repair -- As medical equipment uses more complex technology, there are more parts that can malfunction -- and more need for repair technicians. You may need a two-year degree, but the BLS reports most training is on the job. 9.4% projected growth. Median annual salary: $62,115

5. Media planner/buyer -- Though the official BLS data doesn't show explosive growth here, the Internet is causing rapid change in this industry that probably isn't figured into federal forecasts yet, says job-trends expert Debra Yergen, author of "Creating Job Security: The 2009 All-In-One Workbook." While the traditional advertising industry may be shrinking right now, online skills are in demand, she says. Many online-media pros are learning on the job.

"This is an emerging area where talent is going to be rewarded," Yergen says. 11.7% projected growth. Median annual salary: $47,149

6. X-ray/Imaging technician -- The medical field is increasingly relying on X-rays, MRIs and other imaging technology to diagnose and treat patients, notes Yergen. As new types of scans are invented, and become covered by insurance, the demand for trained imaging technicians will continue to grow. The BLS says technicians can get started with a one-year certificate or two-year associate degree. 15% projected growth. Median annual salary: $42,749

7. Plumber -- Robin Ryan calls plumbing "a classic job most people don't want to do." Which is why it pays well. And bad economy or good, pipes burst and need replacing. If you enjoy working with your hands, look for an apprenticeship program where you can get paid while you learn on the job. 10.6% projected growth. Median annual salary: $42,001

8. Graphic/Web designer -- Like Internet advertising, anyone who can make companies' Web sites look better will be in demand, Yergen says. "This field will blossom as people find creative ways to help clients." About one-quarter of graphic designers are self-employed, the BLS reports, and may get started with a two-year degree or be self-taught. 44.6% projected growth. Median annual salary: $41,215

Source: All salary data is from PayScale.com. The salaries listed are median, annual salaries for full-time workers with 5-8 years of experience and include any bonuses, commissions or profit sharing.

6 ways to find a Stimulus Job

Now that President Obama has signed the $787 billion stimulus bill into law, money will begin flowing to local governments and industries -- and jobs will follow.

Where will these jobs show up, and how do you land one? According to Laurence Shatkin, career information expert and author of "Great Jobs in the President's Stimulus Plan," there is no clearinghouse for stimulus jobs.

"You'll generally be using some of the same tactics as you would in an ordinary job search," Shatkin tells Yahoo! HotJobs. "That means gathering information and building network connections."

There are, however, a few specific ways to make it easier to find a stimulus job:

Focus.
Forget about searching for a generic "stimulus job" -- there's no such thing, technically. If the president's plan works as envisioned, government money will create jobs, directly and indirectly, across a wide variety of fields -- I.T., education, construction, transportation, health care, energy, and the "green" sector -- for both white- and blue-collar workers. Start by focusing on one or two industries that will likely benefit from an infusion of government cash and may need someone with your skills, then go about looking for specific sectors and companies that may be hiring.

Do your research.
Once you've narrowed your fields of interest, start your research on the Web to find out who may be hiring. If you're interested in green jobs, for example, type "wind turbine" or "solar jobs" or "retrofitting" in a search engine and see what comes up, Shatkin said. In addition to searching on Yahoo! HotJobs, you can check out industry-related networking sites: sustainablebusiness.com for green jobs, ihireconstruction.com for construction jobs, higheredjobs.com for education are just a few examples. Some of these are open to anyone, regardless of training, background, or credentials.

Follow the money.
If President Obama gives a speech in Indiana about retrofitting manufacturing plants, or Vice President Biden talks in Philadelphia about expanding travel infrastructure, listen up. That's a sign contractors in those areas -- possibly in your own city -- will be clamoring for their share of government largesse. The next step is finding out exactly who is getting that money. Check out your local newspaper daily to see what companies may be getting government contracts; the front page and the business section should have the details.

Cold call.
If you've identified an industry that sounds promising, call a company to see if they or any competitors are hiring. Who do you call? Not human resources, according to Shatkin.

"This is not a call to ask for a job necessarily, but rather to get some information and to network. To do that, you want to reach someone who actually makes hiring decisions, preferably the chief operating officer." Shatkin suggests calling before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. to lessen the chance of assistants running interference and "losing" your message.

Retrofit your resume.
Good news: You don't necessarily have to go back to school to land a stimulus-related job. Many positions will have on-the-job training, and others require no training at all, according to Shatkin. But to land one of these jobs, you would have a leg up if you tailor your resume to the industry. For example, if you are an accountant (or systems analyst, project manager, accounts payable manager, etc.) with experience in more than one industry, emphasize the field that most closely matches the job you're pursuing.

Plan for the long term.
Many of the stimulus-created jobs and careers will be around long after the economy recovers. Make sure you're ready for advancement by adding to your skill set now, recommends Harry Holzer, an economist at Georgetown University. "Even if you're going for a job that doesn't require training, you'd be better positioned for a long-term career if you diversify your skills by gaining additional training."

Shatkin and other job experts emphasize that jobs aren't going to flood the job market overnight.

"Job creation from the stimulus will be ramping up over the summer and throughout 2010," Holzer says. But if you do your prep work now, you can have the inside edge when the jobs do come online, and lay the foundation for a long-term career.

"In some newer fields, such as solar power, you can get in on the ground floor this year and be an 'old hand' in as little as three years," Shatkin says.

Resource Yahoo Hot Jobs!

Some useful yet unseen tips

Recently, I was browsing for some good tips on Money making online, and as we all know Saving is also money making, right? So, here I am presenting you with some of the useful but left unseen tips and tricks:-
>> Set up an automatic savings plan
You should be able to set up your checking account so that a certain amount is automatically transferred to a savings account each month. It's a good way to force yourself to save.

>> Think about insurance before you buy a car
Typically, the more expensive your car, the higher your insurance cost will be. Take this into account when buying a car.

>> Write a will
If you have any dependents, you need a will. Write one and protect your loved ones! Afterall, you earn money not only for yourself, but also your family.

>> Ditch your car
Walk, bicycle, or take public transportation. You'll save on car payments, gasoline, parking and speeding tickets.

>> Insure yourself against financial ruin
There should be no higher financial priority in your life than health insurance. Without it, if your health takes a turn for the worst, hospital bills could easily bankrupt you and your family.

Hope you liked these tips! You can find these tips at DAYTIPPER-DON'T JUST TELL SOMEONE,TELL EVERYONE

Money Money around, but sorry none for you!

Why are so many people struggling with attracting wealth and then others seem to be living money magnets? Do you think these money magnets are better people, work harder or deserve it more than you. None of the above are true but I can tell you these individuals do things differently than those who struggle with making or attracting money.

One difference is wealthy individuals have embraced a prosperity consciousness. By this I mean they believe they are successful, they believe they are wealthy, and they believe there is enough wealth for everyone.

Individuals who struggle with money are stuck in a scarcity mentality. They don't believe there is enough for everyone... they believe they will never achieve the wealth they desire and unfortunately if they continue with this mindset they will be correct. Another habit wealthy individuals have is they engage in activities that will create wealth... they run businesses, they buy assets that produce passive income, they save a percentage of what they earn and then they invest it in other wealth producing activities.

Individuals who struggle with their wealth continue to work at a job they hate and where they get compensated for their time. Remember "JOB" stands for "Just Over Broke."

Now some individuals who make a lot of money still struggle because they spend all they have and then some. If you love your job you still need to use a percentage of your wages to secure assets that produce passive income.

Remember...you must change the way you view wealth and your activities if you truly want to achieve abundance in your life.

I am faithful if you begin changing your mindset and your daily habits... you too will attract the wealth you desire. So why not start now?

Get the most out of your job-Creating Job Satisfaction

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 292px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xtl5nWJzp5Q/SZ5qlVHbHJI/AAAAAAAAADQ/iH7LMR9kRLo/s320/career-big.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5304794600645008530" />
"Find a job you like, and you add five days to every week."
H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

For many of us, the idea of having a job that is truly satisfying – the kind where work doesn't feel like work anymore – is pure fantasy. Sure, professional athletes, ski patrollers, and golf pros may have found a way of doing what they love and getting paid for it. But is there actually anyone out there who dreams of sitting at a desk and processing paper, or watching products fly by them on conveyor belts, or working to solve other people’s problems?

Career dreams are one thing; practical reality is often another. When they happily coincide, seize the opportunity and enjoy it! Luckily, when they do not, it’s good to know that it is possible to get job satisfaction from a practical choice of career. Job satisfaction doesn’t have to mean pursuing the ultra-glamorous or making money from your hobby. You can work at job satisfaction, and find it in the most unexpected places…

The heart of job satisfaction is in your attitude and expectations; it’s more about how you approach your job than the actual duties you perform. Whether you work on the farm, a production line, in the corner office or on the basketball court, the secret is to understand the key ingredients of your unique recipe for job satisfaction.

Identify Your Satisfaction Triggers

There are three basic approaches to work: is it a job, a career, or a passion? Depending on which type of work you are in right now, the things that give you satisfaction will vary.

>>If you work at a JOB, the compensation aspects of the position will probably hold more appeal than anything else, and have the greatest impact on whether you stay or go.

>>If you work at a CAREER, you are looking for promotions and career development opportunities. Your overall satisfaction is typically linked with your status, power, or position.

>>If you work at a PASSION, the work itself is the factor that determines your satisfaction, regardless of money, prestige, or control.

Inevitably, these are generalizations, and you will probably find that you get satisfaction from more than one approach to work. Being aware of the type of work you are doing, and the things you need for job satisfaction, will help you to identify and adjust your satisfaction expectations accordingly.
Building Job Satisfaction

Once you have identified the blend of status, power, or intrinsic enjoyment that need to be present in your work for you to feel satisfied, you then need to work on some of our seven 'ingredients' for a satisfying job. These ingredients are:

.Self-awareness

.Challenge

.Variety

.Positive attitude

.Knowing your options

.Balanced lifestyle

.A sense of purpose

The first step in the search for job satisfaction is to know yourself. If you're to be happy and successful, you need to understand your strengths and weaknesses. This will help you identify what types of profession will allow you to build on those strengths, and minimize those weaknesses. A useful framework for conducting this type of analysis is a Personal SWOT analysis.

It is difficult to feel satisfied with something you aren’t very good at, so rather than spend time beating yourself up about it, take a long hard look at the things at which you excel, and try to find a position that uses some of those skills too.

Another important component of self-awareness is to have a good understanding of your personality traits and your preferred style of working. A useful tool for this is Schein’s Career Anchors, which helps you understand what you value and what motivates you in your career, (and also what you do not value, and what de-motivates you).

By increasing your self-awareness, you can work towards the ideal blend of compensation, status, and intrinsic reward that suits you, and that you can realistically achieve. Knowing this will help you to set appropriate goals, and manage your own expectations.

The greater the match between your preferences and the requirements of the job, the more potential for job satisfaction you have. The remaining six 'ingredients' determine how much of that potential you actually achieve.

Challenge

Some days you may deny it, but we all thrive on interesting challenges. Does this mean your job has to be the head of engineering at NASA? No, different things challenge different people at different times. You just need to figure out what you can do to make sure you don’t allow yourself to go stale at work.

Even if the job itself is not all that challenging, you can make it challenging. Some great ideas here include:

Set performance standards for yourself – aim to beat your previous record, or set up a friendly competition among co-workers.

Teach others your skills – nothing is more challenging, or rewarding, than passing your skills and knowledge on to others.

Ask for new responsibilities – these will give you opportunities to stretch yourself.

Start or take on a project that uses skills you would like to use, or want to improve.

Commit to professional development – take courses, read books or trade magazines and attend seminars. However you do it, keep your skills fresh and current.
Variety

Closely related to the need for challenge is the need to minimize boredom. Boredom is a common culprit when it comes to job dissatisfaction. When your mind is bored you lack interest and enthusiasm and even a well-matched job becomes dissatisfying. Some common methods to alleviate boredom at work include:

Cross train and learn new skills.

Ask to be moved to a new assignment or department requiring the same skills.

Ask to work a different shift.

Volunteer to take on new tasks.

Get involved with committee work.

Go on an extended leave, or take a sabbatical.

Tip 1:
If your job is inherently repetitive then add variety by changing your routine. Instead of sitting in the lunchroom for your break, go outside, or reposition your desk so you have different scenery.

Tip 2:
All jobs have elements or tasks that are boring, and if you're to do your job well, you'll need to do these tasks well (you can bet there are things even your CEO doesn't like doing!) However, make sure there's plenty of interesting work to offset the boredom.

Positive Attitude

Attitude plays a huge role in how you perceive your job and your life in general. If you are depressed, angry or frustrated, you're much less likely to be satisfied with anything. Making a change to a positive attitude is a complex process that requires a lot of work and a strong commitment. However, over time, you can turn your internal dialogues around and start to see most events in your life as positive and worthwhile. Here are some tips:

Stop negative thoughts from entering your brain.

Reframe your thoughts to the positive.

Put the events of the day in the correct context.

Don't dwell on setbacks.

Commit to viewing obstacles as challenges.

Accept that mistakes are simply opportunities to learn.

Become an optimist.

To help you with your quest to become positive, MindTools has a useful article titled Rational Positive Thinking, which helps you to identify and change negative and unhappy thinking patterns

Know Your Options

When you feel trapped, you can start to get anxious. At first you wonder what else is out there for you. This progresses to the point where you become convinced that anything other than the job you're doing has got to be more satisfying. To combat this, continuously scan your environment for opportunities. When you feel you have options, you have more control. When you make a positive choice to stay with a job, that job has much more appeal than if you feel forced to stay because you feel you have no alternative.

Keep a list of your accomplishments.

Update your resume on a regular basis.

Keep up to date on employment trends.

Research other jobs that interest you.

Adopt an 'I’m keeping my options open' approach.

Maintain a Balanced Lifestyle

You'll have heard many times that you need to keep your life and work in balance. When you focus too much on one at the expense of the other you risk putting your whole system in distress. When work takes over your life, it is easy to resent it and lose your sense of perspective: Suddenly everything about your life is clouded with negativity.

The Life Career Rainbow and The Wheel of Life are two great tools to use when seeking to attain and maintain an appropriate work life balance.

Find a Sense of Purpose

Last, but certainly not least (for many people) is the need to find a sense of purpose in the things you do. Even if you have a boring job, it helps a lot if you can see the real benefit you're providing for people.

Even the most mundane job usually has purpose if you dig deep enough. And if it doesn't, should you be wasting your life doing it?

If you're struggling to see the value in what you do (or if you want to sharpen your image of it) see our article on mission statements and vision statements: Unleashing the Power of Purpose.

Key Points

Work plays a significant role in our lives. In our quest to be happy and productive, having a strong sense of job satisfaction is important. When you are dissatisfied with your job, this tends to have an influence on your overall outlook on life. While you may not be in the career of your dreams right now, it is still your responsibility to make sure that what you are doing is satisfying to you.

By knowing the key elements that go into job satisfaction, you can choose to take control and make the changes you need to feel really satisfied and motivated by what you do. Make one small change at work today that makes you feel good or different – build on that change and create a satisfying environment for yourself.

Career Tracks - Should you switch to or not?

Change is but the rule of nature and also something that humans aspire to from time to time. Everybody seeks something new and different in his/her life, inclucing his/her job. For the new breed of employees - Y Generation - the definition of job satisfaction has changed. While for their parents, it was more about finding a stable job and settling down, for the Y-generation it is more about accomplishing new heights at a job and moving on to more interesting and challenging ones and and conquering more mountains. Thus job-hopping has become an accepted norm today. Sangeeta Gurung, who earlier used to work as Assistant Manager (Marketing) at Hotel de I'Annapurna and is now working as Administrative Assistant at the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) said,"In your performance appraisals, your manager starts to ask you where you see yourself in the company. You can't really tell them that you are hoping not doing the exact same thing you are doing right now." She said that in a situation where one is not getting raise/promotion, switching jobs can be a lucrative option as there might be "a golden chance to climb higher in an organisational hierarchy which would be intellectualy stimulating besides all the addtional responsibilities and perks." Dissatisfaction with the current job, barriers to working freely, feeling of having no major accomplishment and better opportunities, according the Sagina Manandhar, Assistant Manager (Marketing) at Soaltee Crowne Plaza are some of reasons why employees opt for another job. Manandhar used to work as a marketing executive for Internet service provider Infocom before she joined Soaltee."Yes, to many people salary plays a greater part, but for some it of course is the career growth, learning experience and building a base for the next opportunity," she said elaborating on why people switch jobs.
>> CV MAINTENANCE There is this school of thought, which believes that changing jobs are just for adding up in the CV. However, Manandhar begs to differ saying,"Moving too often within short periods and elongating your CV won't really make a good impression." Meanwhile, Gurung feels that the career path one is trying to build plays a decisive role in this as the conducive demographics and workenvironment does matter at a workplace.
>> LEARNING WORKPLACE Building up a CV is just one side of the story, the actual learning that one does while at a job makes a huge difference. After staying at a particular organisation for some time, one might encounter a stagnant phase with nothing new left to get from one's job. So, can switching jobs be a much-needed step to learn "something new"? Manandhar agrees that working at one place for long time does stop a person's growth and also leads to a situation where the energy and enthusiasm that was there while starting a job is not there. "It will teach you to deal with different kinds of people, adapt to any situation and tact,"she added. As for Gurung she believes that changing jobs is something that lessens as one reaches the higher rungs and when t hte top position one needs to have the capability to guide one's subordinates. She states that when at such position, the things learned from "multiple work-experiences in various fields definitely help."
>> FAMILIARITY FACTOR The quest to learn something new is no doubt one of the best incentives t go job hopping, but the factor that outweighs this - for some people - is the comfort level one acquires after working for an organisation for a long time. Some people find the whole process of getting into a completely new environment and adapting to the new organisational structure a bit out of the comfort zone. Gurung cities familiarity, comfort and safety as the reasons one prefers staying in the "comfort zone" and agrees that the longer one stays in the zone, it gets harder to leave it. "The greatest reason why we don't leave our comfort zones is because we're afraid of failure, rejection, danger and the unknown."Manandhar's opinion matches Gurung's that once one gets adapted to working with a certain set of people and a particular job profile, it isn't easy to leave. "Going into any new job is a challenge and for some it takes a lot of time creating that comfort zone."
>> CHALLENGES ON THE WAY For those who take the step out of "the comfort zone", there lie trails that they have to go through in order to acclimatise to the whole new environment and colleagues. According to Manandhar, it's building rapport with the boss and colleagues that might be a little hard in the beginning but doesn't feel such a problem exists in terms of job. Understanding the policies and way of working are also accounted as challenges by her. Gurung on the other hand talked about the other side of the comfort zone. "When you join a new organisation, the others in the team are already in their comfort zone. One of the challenges that you face is how to overcome this barrier to work forward as a cohesive team without losing the sight of your own career path and crave out a successful future for yourself."
>> CHANGING TRACKS The job-hopping trend is at times not limited to one field as often people tend to enter other fields of work. Gurung, who worked in IT field in the beginning of her career went on to the hospitality sector and is now working for an INGO said,"During the initial phase of your career,it's a matter of trying out a few jobs before finding your own niche. You should always be ready to take up new challenges and break your own comfort zone." Manandhar also said that although it is more difficlt to change fields one should prefer a job that s/he loves rather that hanging on to one which does not hold one's interest. The difficulties faced, she said are the price one has to pay for this.As they say, to each their own, the decision to change job or to stick to one organisation is more subjective. But as the Y-generation has taken over the workforce, the trend of job hopping is no longer eye with suspicion. Why does it seem like everyone you know is gaining momentum in their career, while yours is stuck at a standstill? And why are you combing through job openings online when everyone else claims to be getting job based on the help of "someone they know"?

You've asked yourself these questions a thousand times and found no answer. Like the most people you hope for the best in your career but have no idea what it takes to succeed. The secret to having a rewarding career, however isn't as mysterious as most people think. The truth is, all a person may need to do get ahead in the world of work is become a better planner.

"It's easy to sit back and wait for a recruiter to knock down your door and welcome you to your dream job, but this will definitely not happen. The fact is, you have to roll up your sleeves and get the work to develop the specific career goals that will make up your career plan"says John Liptak,Ed. D,author of "Career Quizzes". He adds that many people are deluctant to set goals or develop plans, because they are afraid of not following through or - worse - failing. "That's why it's important to remember that your goals should provide you with direction and motivation and that you can, and will, make changes as you encounter new situations and meet new people, "Liptak says. In his book, Liptak identifies four ways people can be more effective planners. His advice includes:-

BE ACTIVE

Do not rely on other people to make plans for you. Identify the career choices right for you, rather than accept others' suggestions or whatever job is available at the moment.

GET INVOLVED

Discuss your career with family, friends and knowledgeable people as they relate to your career interests. Learn more through career research, job shadows and informational interviews.

MAKE COMPROMISES

Look for new opportunities and realistically appraise your career options. Understand that you will have to make some sacrifices, such as accepting a job that pays a hundred grand a year, but may come with only two weeks of paid vacations.

SET GOALS

Use short term goals as benchmarks to stay motivated towards reaching long term goals. Review and revise goals to meet your current needs.

In fast-paced competitive job market, possessing one or two of these qualities won't cut it. People must develop the entire package to stay ahead of their competition and prepare for sudden career changes-good and bad...

Hey, 101 Tips to help you earn money money doing what you love

>> Read Books
It tells you about the "Golden Rules of Money Making" which has been written by P.T Barnum. Well, I haven't still completed reading the book but I found many of the ideas really interesting. So, i decided to include some of his great ideas, so that all the people who want to master the rules of money, could benefit from it.
Here, i am including the ideas in brief:-

1. DON'T MISTAKE YOUR VOCATION
The safest plan, and the most sure of success for the young man starting in life, is to select the vocation that is most matching and suitable to his/her tastes. Mostly and most of the time, parents and guardians are quite too negligent with regard to this. It is quite common fo a father to say, for example:"I have five boys. I will make Denis a clergyman; Samuel a lawyer;Harry a doctor and so on..."He then goes into town and then finds out what to do with his other boys. He returns home and says "Samuelson,I have researched and found out that Investing in Real Estate can be very profitable; I think you should do this." He does this, regardless of his natural potentialities and talents.
We are all without any doubt born for a wise purpose. There is as much diversity in our brains as in our countenances. Some are born natural mechanics, while some have great aversion to machinery. Simply,to illustrate this, arrange a get together of about dozen of boys, and you will observe two or three are "whittling"out some ingenious device; working with complicated machinery and spare parts. When they were but five years old, their father could find no toy to please them like a puzzle. They are natural mechanics;but the other eight or nine boys have different aptitudes.
That's why, unless a man enters upon the vacation intended for him by nature, and best suited to his particular brilliancy, he can't succeed. It is good to hear that majority of persons do find their right vocation. Yet we see many who have mistaken their calling, from the blacksmith uo (or down) to the clergyman. You will observe, that extraordinary linguist hte "Learned blacksmith," who ought to have been a teacher of languages; and you may have seen lawyers, doctors and clergymen who were better fitted by nature for the anvil or the lapstone.
2. SELECT THE RIGHT LOCATION
After you have secured the right location, you must be careful to select the proper location. YOu may have been cut out for a hotel keeper, and they say it requires genius to "know how to keep a hotel." You might conduct a hotel like clock-work, and provide satisfactorily for five hundred guests everyday;yet, if you should locate your house in a small village where there is no railroad communication or public travel, the location would be the cause of your ruin. On the other hand, it is equally important that you do not initiate a business where there are already enough to meet all the demands in the same occupation. Here Barnum shares his experience which illustrates this subject in his own words.
When I was in London in 1858, I was passing down Holborn with an English friend and came to the "penny shows." They had immense cartoons outside, portraying the wonderful curiosities to be seen "all for a penny." Being found ourselves in the presence of the illustrious showman, and he proved to be the sharpest man in that line I had ever met. He told us some extraordinary stories in reference to his bearded ladies, his Albinos, and his Armadillos, which we could hardly believe, but thought it "better to believe it than look after the proof." He finally begged to call our attention to some wax staturary, and showed us a lot of dirtiest and filthiest wax figures imaginable. They looked as if they had not seen water since the Deluge.
"What is there so wonderful about your statuary?" I asked.
"I beg you not to speak so satirically,: he replied,"Sir, these are not Madam Tussaud's wax figures, all covered with glit and tinsel and imitation diamonds, and copied from engravings and photographs. Mine, sir, were taken from life. Whenever you look upon one of those figures, you may consider that you are looking upon the living individual."
Glancing casually at them, I saw one labelled "Henry VIII,: and feeling a little curious upon seeing that it looked like Calvin Edson, the living skeleton, I said: "Do you call that "Henry the Eighth?" He replied, "Certainly;Sir;it was taken from life at Hampton Court, by special order of his majesty;on such a day.:
He would have given the hour of the day if I had resisted; I said,
"Everybody knows that 'Henry VIII.' was a great stout old king, and that
figure is lean and lank; what do you say to that?"
"Why," he replied, "you would be lean and lank yourself if you sat there
as long as he has."
There was no resisting such arguments. I said to my English friend, "Let
us go out; do not tell him who I am; I show the white feather; he beats
me."
He followed us to the door, and seeing the rabble in the street, he
called out, "ladies and gentlemen, I beg to draw your attention to the
respectable character of my visitors," pointing to us as we walked away.
I called upon him a couple of days afterwards; told him who I was, and
said:
"My friend, you are an excellent showman, but you have selected a bad
location."
He replied, "This is true, sir; I feel that all my talents are thrown
away; but what can I do?"
"You can go to America," I replied. "You can give full play to your
faculties over there; you will find plenty of elbowroom in America; I
will engage you for two years; after that you will be able to go on your
own account."
He accepted my offer and remained two years in my New York Museum. He
then went to New Orleans and carried on a traveling show business during
the summer. To-day he is worth sixty thousand dollars, simply because he
selected the right vocation and also secured the proper location. The
old proverb says, "Three removes are as bad as a fire," but when a man
is in the fire, it matters but little how soon or how often he removes. 3. LEARN SOMETHING USEFUL
Everyone should make his son/daughter learn some useful trade or profession, so that in these days of changing fortunes of being rich today and poor tommorow they may have something tangible to fall back upon. This cleverness and skills might save many persons from misery, who by some unexpected twist in fortune have lost all their means.
4. DO NOT SCATTER YOUR POWERS
Give focus and get engaged in one kind of business only, and just stick to it faithfully till you get success, or until your experience shows that you should abandon or leave it. A constant hammering on one nail will generally drive it home at last, so that it can be clinched. When a man's decentralized attention is centered on one object, his mind will constantly besuggesting improvements of value, which would escape him if his brain was occupied by a dozen different subjects at once. The purpose of doing meditation is also same. It helps to centralize our mind and controls our thoughts. So, practicing meditation will help you to control your diverted mind & you will succeed in your tasks. Many a fortune has slipped through a man's fingers became he was engaged in too many occupations at a time. There is good sense in the old caution against having too many irons in the fire at once.
5. READ THE NEWSPAPERS
Develop a habit of reading a trustworthy and useful newspaper, and thus keep yourself up to date about all the worldly affairs. He who is without a newspaper is cut off from his species. In these days of telegraphs and steam, many important inventions and improvements in every branch of trade are being made, and he who doesn't consult the newspapers will soon find himself and his business left outside in the cold.
6. BEWARE OF OUTSIDE OPERATIONS
People are seen, in most of the case, who have obtained good fortunes, suddenly become poor. In many cases, this situation arises from intemperance, and often from gaming, and other bad habits. Frequently it occurs because a man has been engaged in "outside operations,"of some sort. When he/she gets rich in legtimate business, he is told of a grand speculation where he can make a score of thousands. He is constantly flattered by his friends, who tell him that he is born lucky, that everything he touches turns into gold. Now if he forgets taht his economical habits, his rectitude of conduct and a personal attention to a business which he understood, caused his success inlife, he will listen to the siren voices. He says: "I will put in twenty thousand dollars. I have been lucky, and my good luck will soon bring me back sixty thousand dollars." A few days elapse and it is discovered that he must put in ten thousand dollars more: soon after he is told "it is all right." but certain matters not foreseen, requir e an advance of twenty thousand dollars more, which will bring him a rich harvest;but before the time comes to realize, the bubble bursts,he loses all he is possessed of, and then he learns what he ought to have known at the first, that however successful a man may be in his own business, if he turns from that and engages ill a business which he doesn't understand, he is like Samson when shorn of his locks his strength has departed, and he beccomes like other men.

If a man has plenty of money, he ought to invest something in everything that appears to promise success, and that will probably benefit mankind; but let the sums thus invested be moderate in amount, and never let a man foolishly jeopardize a fortune that he has earned in a legtimate way, by investing it in things in which he has had no experience.
Don't go anywhere, I have much to say about Making Money-The Golden Tips.

Are You Investing In A Good Real Estate Investing Guide Before Buying?

Investing in real estate is a dream that many people have. You should only make purchases that you absolutely need. It is easy to beat yourself up for mistakes, but a better approach is to simply acknowledge poor choices and seek to make healthier choices starting today. Here are 10 smart Tips and Tricks which will assist you create a stronger financial foundation, reduce financial stress, and the freedom to enjoy your life more fully:-

1. Find out the past selections that led you to financial stress, and stop making those choices, starting from now.
One of the most important choices you can make with your money is to learn from your past choices. Use failure and frustration as a learning tool for future success.

2. Pay off credits of your credit cards before arousing of another debt
High balances on revolving debt, like credit card debt, influence negatively your credit score more than loans which are assigned to be paid off in a set number of months or years such as a car loan, student loan, or mortgage. One of the fastest ways to improve your credit is to pay down or pay off your credit cards.

3. Stop the use of Credit cards unless you believe in yourself to pay the credits in full every month.
The average American household carries nearly about $10,000 in credit card debt with a very little hope of paying it off within the next 60 days, according to the most recent statistics. Make a decision to live with your limited resources, using the money you have rather than money you have to borrow.

4. Change your lifestyle, If essential
Your lifestyle also has a deep impact on your Financial status. Sometimes building a strong financial foundation requires sacrifice. If you need to "compress" your lifestyle so that you can become more financially strong, do it!When you have a purpose and a vision, and understand the necessity of a firm financial foundation, it is forcing you to make tough decisions such as keeping your old car for a while longer, waiting to buy a bigger house and so on. 5.Get insurance (health, life, home or renters, auto, and disability) that you feel confident will meet your needs in the event you need to use it.
An economic crisis is never expected by anyone and nor liked, but it is life. You sometimes have happy moments and sometimes sad and frustrating moments. But it is comforting to know that in the event of one, your finances won't be completely destroyed. An illness, fire, or accident is stressful enough. Make sure you are covered and sage in the event of unfortunate circumstances.

6.Establish a financial cushion of six to 12 months of expenses.
Make this a priority goal and begin saving toward it, even if it takes you five years or more to reach your goal. Knowing that financial ruin is not a couple of paychecks away is a very empowering feeling. It will often keep you from making decisions out of fear and empower you to make decisions based on your purpose and vision.

7. Invest time in your own financial education.
One of the main causes of financial problems is what I call "financial illiteracy." Some companies make a great deal of money off of the financial ignorance of otherwise intelligent people. Spend two hours or more per month learning about wealth building, debt elimination, investing, and real estate. Read books or articles. Attend a seminar. Learn from those who handle their money well. The more financially literate you become, the better off you will be.

8. Refuse to be an emotional spender.
Have you ever spent money on your children out of guilt? Or in an effort to win the affection or admiration of others? Do you shop when you are feeling down? Do you buy things you can't afford because they make you feel better about yourself? Have you co-signed on credit cards or loans, even though your intuition told you not to? If so, you have engaged in "emotional spending," an expensive habit. Recognize your propensity to spend emotionally and make a decision to change your behavior. Wait 72 hours before making a decision about an impulse purchase. Question your motives before spending money. And make sure you spend your money in a way that reflects your vision and purpose.

9. Have a vision. Set goals!
Last week, I challenged you to create a vision for the five key areas of your life. One of those areas is your finances. One of the reasons it is important to have a vision is because it serves as a reference point for where you are headed. When you are building toward something specific, it is easier to tell when you get off track. If you have no vision or goals, you often don't even realize you are on the wrong path until something goes terribly wrong!

10. Put money into proper perspective.
Having money can certainly make life easier, more convenient, and less stressful. But always remember this: If your biggest problems are money-related, consider yourself VERY blessed. Money problems can be fixed. There are other more important things in your life – your relationship with God and the people you care about, your health, and your integrity, to name a few. Don't allow financial frustrations to ruin your relationships, cause you to be angry with God, do things that compromise your integrity, or stress you out to the point of causing high blood pressure, panic attacks, or other health problems. Count your blessings and remember that life's richest rewards will never be found in material things.

Did you enjoy the post? Americans are loaded with credit card debt.

The average American household with at least one credit card has nearly $9,200 in credit card debt, according to CardWeb.com, and the average interest rate runs in the mid- to high teens at any given time.

2. Some debt is good.

Borrowing for a home or college usually makes good sense. Just make sure you don't borrow more than you can afford to pay back, and shop around for the best rates.

3. Some debt is bad.

Don't use a credit card to pay for things you consume quickly, such as meals and vacations, if you can't afford to pay off your monthly bill in full in a month or two. There's no faster way to fall into debt. Instead, put aside some cash each month for these items so you can pay the bill in full. If there's something you really want, but it's expensive, save for it over a period of weeks or months before charging it so that you can pay the balance when it's due and avoid interest charges.

4. Get a handle on your spending.

Most people spend thousands of dollars without much thought to what they're buying. Write down everything you spend for a month, cut back on things you don't need, and start saving the money left over or use it to reduce your debt more quickly. 5. Pay off your highest-rate debts first.

The key to getting out of debt efficiently is first to pay down the balances of loans or credit cards that charge the most interest while paying at least the minimum due on all your other debt. Once the high-interest debt is paid down, tackle the next highest, and so on.

6. Don't fall into the minimum trap.

If you just pay the minimum due on credit card bills, you'll barely cover the interest you owe, to say nothing of the principal. It will take you years to pay off your balance, and potentially you'll end up spending thousands of dollars more than the original amount you charged.

7. Watch where you borrow.

It may be convenient to borrow against your home or your personal property to pay off debt, but it can be dangerous. You could lose your home or fall short of your investing goals at retirement.

8. Expect the unexpected.

Build a cash cushion worth three months to six months of living expenses in case of an emergency. If you don't have an emergency fund, a broken furnace or damaged car can seriously upset your finances.

9. Don't be so quick to pay down your mortgage.

Don't pour all your cash into paying off a mortgage if you have other debt. Mortgages tend to have lower interest rates than other debt, and you may deduct the interest you pay on the first $1 million of a mortgage loan. (If your mortgage has a high rate and you want to lower your monthly payments, consider refinancing.)

10. Get help as soon as you need it.

If you have more debt than you can manage, get help before your debt breaks your back. There are reputable debt counseling agencies that may be able to consolidate your debt and assist you in better managing your finances. But there are also a lot of disreputable agencies out there.

Did you enjoy this post?
