Is Gomez Peer Zone a way for you to earn cash from home?

Gomez Peer Zone: Worth Your Time or Worthless?

Gomez Peer Zone is a subsidiary of Compuware Gomez (which has been around since 1997). They have a good Better Business Bureau rating and are one of many work-at-home opportunities that can help you earn some extra income.

What is Gomez PEER Zone?

Because the Internet plays such a major role in a company’s business, often times, they need their websites to be tested in order to identify problems that may exist that negatively impacts a visitor’s experience. This is where Gomez Peer Zone helps. They run these tests on the websites to see if any problems do exist. They test the website’s performance based on the connection type (i.e., Dial-up, Cable, DSL, etc.), the browser being used (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.), the number of users and anything else that is pertinent to the website’s function. Gomez PEER Zone uses regular people, like you, to run these tests and provide the information through your own computer.

Getting Started

To become a member of their PEER community, you need to fill out an application and download their free PEER software. You need to leave your computer on so they know when it is ready. This is known as their “pending” status. Eventually, your account will be converted to “active” status. However, demographics play a role here in addition to picking only people whose computers are almost always available. Once you do become active, Gomez PEER Zone will begin using the downloaded software to test the website’s speed and performance.

Technology Requirements

There are some basic computer needs in order to join the PEER community including an Internet connection, a 500 Mhz Pentium 3 or better, 128 MB RAM, 40 MB of free hard disk space and either Windows XP, NT, 2000 or 2003 operating system. You will also need to be able to visit secured or SSL encrypted pages.

How much money will you make?

Becoming part of the PEER community will by no means provide you with a livable income, but no one uses any of these work-at-home opportunities expecting to make big bucks. The monthly threshold to get paid is low—five dollars—which is nice considering it takes a while to even reach that amount.

Depending on what country you live in will determine your rate of pay. Unfortunately, residents of the United States will be paid one of the lowest rates ($0.000125 per minute). This payment is based on a fraction of a penny for every minute they use your computer to run a test. Residents of Canada have a higher rate ($0.0005000).

A majority of the rest gets paid $0.000250. Why is there such a discrepancy in pay? Most likely the reason is because there are countless ways to get technical information in the United States about their Internet connections and usage. Some of you may already be thinking that when you sign up, you will claim on your form that you live in one of the higher paying countries. This will not work since they go by your IP address.

The time they spend running the test is credited in fifteen-minute increments. The maximum amount per day is $0.8. If you are logged on all day, every day, you will easily hit that five-dollar monthly threshold.

Can You Make More Money?

You absolutely have an opportunity through Gomez PEER Zone to make more money through their referral program—of course. If you make a referral and they reach active status, you will be paid one dollar. Not a bad deal, but you know how it is with referrals. Just because you refer someone does not mean they will follow through with the program. The company does provide banners that you can put on your website to help you get new referrals.

Tracking Your Money

With those odd amounts you get per minute, it is nothing but a mathematical nightmare trying to figure out how much you are earning. As part of your download, you get a status page which will tell you exactly how many minutes you have been logged on, how many of those minutes they used to process a request on your computer and how many of your referrals are active. This status page can either pop up every time you open Windows or you can have it as part of the status bar icon.

Getting payment from Gomez PEER Zone is easy. Payment is made on the first of the month via PayPal (after you reach the five dollar threshold). The maximum month amount you can make is forty-five dollars.

The Pros

There is a lot to like about this company, including:

1. The low five-dollar threshold means they are not going to have you wait a very long time to see some money.

2. They use PayPal, which has a reputation of being reliable, safe and easy.
3. In terms of longevity, they seem to have it. They are not still in beta or just launched which means they have a very good track record which is a comfortable feeling for most people.

4. Making money with them requires nothing but keeping your computer online. Most of you probably do that now already so this is an opportunity that takes no effort.

5. If you have more than one computer, you can double (or triple) your income. Simply use the same e-mail and user account name and let the program run on every computer you have.

6. Many similar opportunities change ads on their software and did odd things which no website owner really likes. Gomez PEER Zone does not do this and it is highly appreciated.

The Cons

With the good comes the bad sometimes. Gomez PEER Zone does have some sticky points like:

1. In order to make money you need to leave your computer on—all the time. But this also means you have to disable the sleep mode and automatic shut down features that save energy on your computer. And if you decide to use your laptop for this, you may run into a problem as many laptops need to be shut down for a short time or they start to act funny. Something to consider when looking into this opportunity.

2. There is no guarantee that you will get to active status and if you do, you still may have to wait a few months for anything to happen. They also are particular in terms of demographics, which may further delay your active status. Many people think the company is a scam because they are never active, but that is not the case. You can still make money through referrals, however.

3. If you have a Mac, you are out of luck. This is a PC-based opportunity.

4. Some people do not like the pay discrepancy based on residency. Unfortunately, this is how they work and there is nothing you can do about it—other than move.

5. PayPal is great, but not to everybody. For whatever reasons, some people dislike PayPal and since this is the only method of payment they use, those people may be turned off by this at-home opportunity. One word of advice—be sure to use the e-mail address that you use with PayPal when you join or else you will not get paid.

6. Slow or old computers may get worse by the addition of the downloaded software. They claim that their program will not affect how your computer functions, but if it is slow to begin with or on its last leg, having another software program added on may not be the best idea.

Is Gomez PEER Zone Legitimate?

The company is legitimate and the fact they have been around for so long is a testament to that. They have a good track record of making payments and the best part is you do not have to do anything to earn those payments. Five dollars a month may not be much, but if this is just one of many at-home opportunities you are involved with, it certainly will help. Gomez Application

Write On Results: Can You Write Your Way to Financial Independence?

Some people may persuasively argue that writing by hand is a dying art. After all, with computers, smart phones and everything else with keyboard capabilities, no longer is there a need for pen and paper. Typing is easier, faster and a lot less cumbersome to read. However, what typing does not have is that personal touch and that is where Write On Results can help.

What is Write On Results?

Write On Results began in 2005 by Ray Hrach who was looking to create a successful work-at-home opportunity. He realized there was a market for people wanting handwritten mailings like invitations, holiday cards, fundraising letters, thank you cards and sales campaigns. The basis for his business is that people prefer handwritten mail and usually will open it and read it as opposed to a typical form letter that has been sifted through a printer with a label on it.

Hrach sites six reasons why handwritten mail is better than any labeled envelope: the mailing will be less likely to end up in the trash, customers get a personal touch, it will stand out from competitors, it will get a higher response rate, an improved return on investment and true results will be seen.

Can You Make Money with Write On Results?

You would like to think so, but the amount you make seems to be a mystery as their site offers nothing in the way of what writers make or what a usual charge is to customers for their handwriting services. You can request a quote if you need their services and it is safe to say that the bigger the job, the more you will make. Just how much you will make is a bit uncertain.

However, like many at-home opportunities, they have an affiliate program and one can assume this is where the money is to be made. Their affiliate page states that if you join their program, you will earn fifty percent on every sale. So far that is a good start. The way it works is you create an account and paste the linking code into either your e-mail or website. When visitors to your site click on the link, their IP gets logged and a cookie is put into their browser for tracking. If the visitor decides to place an order (either at the time of the visit or on another visit), it will count as your sale and you will get your commission.

Hrach is big on promoting his latest book, Handwriting for Cash, which outlines just how you can create your own handwriting business from home. There seems to be more promotion of the book on the Write On Results website than for the actual services he provides. People who have purchased the book have enjoyed it and felt that Hrach was insightful and honest in helping them develop an at-home business.

The Cons

Although the company has been around for several years, there seems to be a lack of information about them on the Internet which seems a bit odd. On the one hand, nothing negative has been said about the company which is good, but you would still like to know how others have done working for them.

You can find the Handwriting for Cash book on a few sites, like Amazon, to purchase and the two reviews posted of the book were very positive, but there is not even an indication if this book has lead others to at-home success.

The mere fact that there is no pricing for anything on their site can make you a bit suspicious on how they come to their quotes in the first place. While every job does differ, it would be nice for them to offer some sort of guideline as to how much a general job would be and what some extra services may cost.

Is Write On Results Legitimate?

This is one of those cases where you do not seem to have anything to lose by inquiring about how their company works and what kind of money you can potentially make. By not having much of an Internet presence, you may understandably be apprehensive. But since they are not asking for anything more than filling out an online form, you may decide to find out what they are about just out of curiosity. Just be wary that the owner is not just using the site to sell his book—which you can always decline. As with many of these opportunities, do some research (even contact the owner if possible) and enter at your own risk.

Most people will agree that there is not nearly enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done. And while the saying goes, “don’t put off tomorrow what you can do today”, that is often easier said than done. But what if you could find people to help you out with tasks like laundry, food shopping or walking your dog? That is just what Task Rabbit does—finds people to assist you in what you do not have time for yourself.

How Does Task Rabbit Work?

There are two sides to Task Rabbit—people posting tasks (task posters) and people looking to do those tasks (task rabbits). Signing up with Task Rabbit is free and easy. Once you create your account, you can post a task you want done. Most postings have specific guidelines you can include like when the task needs to be done, whether the use of a truck or large vehicle is required and if the task can be done remotely.

There is a general pay range (called the task price) for the tasks so that you do not underpay or overpay the rabbits. Task Rabbit will also add a fee (15%) to your offer for their part. You will have to provide a valid credit card number when posting a job, but will not be charged until the task is completed.

If you want to be a task rabbit, the sign-up process is a bit more involved. All of the task rabbits undergo an extensive screening process

What are the Tasks?

The variety is endless when it comes to the tasks. You can pick someone up from the airport, help with repair jobs, deliver groceries or shovel snow. There is a task out there for everything. If you find a task that interests you, you place a bid on how much you would like to be compensated for the task. The person posting the task will then choose who they would like to use. Of course, after a while, you may decide to keep hiring the same task rabbit if he or she is found to be reliable, responsible and rate-friendly.

What Kind of Pay Can You Expect?

While there are several ranges of pay depending on the task that needs to be done, most tasks fall between the twenty and thirty dollar range. When a task rabbit completes a project, as noted by the task poster, the task rabbit gets the money deposited into his or her online account through TaskRabbit.com’s web service. They can be paid outside of the system, but Task Rabbit will not give refunds for this and they still get their fee. If a task rabbit incurred any expenses to complete a task, that money can be paid either through Task Rabbit or outside of the system.

They also have a point system with different levels depending on the points you accumulate. One way to earn points is through referrals. Every time you refer a friend to Task Rabbit and they post a task and that task is completed, you earn ten dollars. This is only good, however, on the first task they post, but if you refer many friends, that can add up. Other ways to earn points are by doing a task on the weekend, bidding within thirty minutes of a task post and offering to do a task for lower than the posting price.

The Con of Task Rabbit

Essentially, Task Rabbit was created out of a way to bring people in the neighborhood together to help each other. The idea is simple and it seems to work, but there are a few issues.

1.    Safety concerns: Yes, task rabbits do go through quite an extensive screening process, but task posters do not. As long as you provide your correct name, information (including a social security number) and a valid credit card, you really are not required to offer anything more. This can make you a bit apprehensive when bidding and accepting tasks.
2.    Pay: The good news is that you get paid as soon as the task is completed. The bad news is that aside from the money going into the Task Rabbit account, it is unclear how you actually get that money. A bigger concern is that task rabbits claim that the fifteen percent fee is much more and a sixty dollar task may really end up being less than half of that.
3.    Limited locations: Right now, Task Rabbit is only available in nine major cities with three more on the way. It does cover both the east and west coast, but unless you live close to one of these cities, you are out of luck.
4.    Not always your choice: Some users have complained that Task Rabbit auto assigned a task rabbit to them rather than having them choose who they wanted to use. Often, this has led to a task not being completed or the task rabbit not showing up at all. There is a button called “let me decide” in the posting process that task posters should use.
5.    Know what you are doing: If you put yourself out there to do these tasks, you better make sure you can actually do them and are responsive when a task poster contacts you to make arrangements. Many task posters have complained that task rabbits were unresponsive to e-mails, inept at what they were supposed to do and showed little interest in the job at all. If you fall into this pattern, you can forget about repeat hires.

Is Task Rabbit Legitimate?

The concept behind Task Rabbit is a good one and they seem to go the extra mile when screening the rabbits. However, that is still no guarantee that the rabbit will be able to do the task. What is a bit more concerning is the pay. Sure, overall it pays better than some other at-home opportunities, but for tasks that were priced at sixty dollars and the rabbit only gets fifteen of it, that is reason to hesitate—especially if this is a task that takes several hours to do.

Now you are talking about making less than minimum wage. If you decide to give Task Rabbit a chance, do a little research on how you get your money out of your account as that is not mentioned anywhere on their site (another reason to hesitate). Texting has become the new way to communicate—it is easy, fast and efficient. What is CashTexts – Can You Get Paid for Text Messages?

Having just launched in October of 2011, CashTexts is a five level multilevel marketing company that pays you every time you get a text message which, incidentally, could pay for your own text messaging plan. These messages are from a variety of advertisers who offer coupons for health stores, fast food chains, entertainment, electronics and so on. What is the Amount of Text Messages You Will Receive?

There is no standard amount, but working on the basis that their preference features allows you to modify your profile leads you to believe that you will receive specific texts based on this information. Many companies operate the same way since advertisers are looking for certain types of people who fit with what they are selling and/or offering. So the number of text messages you will receive will depend on how well your profile fits with what the advertisers are looking for.

A nice feature that CashTexts offers is that you can set the days, times and amount of texts you receive when you fill out your profile. You can even sign up for pause texting any time you want.

How do You Get Payment and When?

Payment is made automatically every two weeks through a global branded debit card. But according to their website, they have set this at five dollars due to processing fees, but they are hoping to make it automatic in the future.

Is CashTexts an International Opportunity?

For now, people living in other countries are encouraged to sign up, however they cannot yet receive texts so they will not be making any money. But the company is hoping to expand soon so that this will change.

Will This Cost You Money to Join?

Joining with CashTexts is free, but you will need to have a cell phone plan that includes text messaging otherwise you will be paying for the texts you receive rather than getting paid. Make sure your plan will cover the costs of receiving messages so you do not lose money on the deal.

The Cons

Every company, no matter how good, has its criticisms and complaints. Here are a few issues that have come up with CashTexts:

1.    Who is running the show? That seems to be the question with CashTexts. When the company initially launched, there seemed to be some mystery as to who the owners of the company were. This can be a sign that they have something to hide which is not the best first impression. They must have realized this was creating a feeling of mistrust and now include an “About Us” page with contact information on it.

2.    Where is the money? Even though the company has only been up and running for a short time, there seems to be no evidence of anyone getting paid yet. Usually by now, someone would have tweeted it, posted it or blogged about it. The fact that there appears to be no actual proof of payment may leave you a bit suspicious.

3.    Why are you not making any money? As mentioned earlier, if your profile is not sought after, the amount of texts you will receive will be very limited which means so will your income. The other thing is the referrals. If you are not good at getting them and having them sign-up and participate, you will not get any money from that either.

4.    Who has your phone number? Let’s face it, you are giving out a very personal piece of information, your cell phone number, to people you do not know. And since the company just launched and the owners are still a bit of a mystery, you may want to hold off and see how the company does in a few months before handing them your phone number. Remember, you want to make sure that people are getting paid and that the company has some type of longevity or you could lose more than your money.

5.    Will they last? Well, sustainability depends on more than just the people running the show. If users are not participating the way they are supposed to, the well dries up and you will not be making much, if any, money. There are already people who have found ways to “game” this system, but hopefully CashTexts is on top of this and knows what to do.

Is CashTexts Legitimate?

The company will not cost you much for joining, but whether or not it is a scam is still up in the air. The company is still new and there are still some lingering issues. Before you join, do some research and see if you can find any proof of payment from users or who specifically is running the company. There is no reason you have to jump on this opportunity now as they are starting out and probably will have several kinks to work out. If they rectify their issues and are still around months or even a year from now, then you know they have what it takes to be in it for the long haul.

I’ve decided to sign up and give them a try. I figure, it’s free and I can always block them later from my phone if there is an issue. Everyone wants to make money on the web these days, through a website, an online store, blogging, Facebook, and now, through Twitter.  In the era of smart phones, and social networking, Twitter has become one of the ways that millions keep in touch! It seems that more and more people are turning to social media networks to find out news, events, and the best deals on anything and everything, all while staying connected to their family and friends.  But can you really make money with Twitter?

Many businesses already use Twitter to promote their company and any special sales or events.It’s a great way to stay in touch with customers, and to make contact with new ones.  Retailers know that social media is where the people are, and they are reaching out in a big way. For many brick and mortar and online retailers, the tweets are paying off!

Online retailer Woot.com is one such company who has jumped on the Twitter bandwagon. Through tweeting their current deals, they have accumulated a huge following, and get a lot of business through re-tweets and referrals to their website. But what about your average Joe tweeter? How can an individual cash in through Twitter? Probably the easiest and most common way that people are starting to make money with Twitter is through referral tweets.  Like referral advertisements on a blog or other website, the account owner will get paid per click or action. As with a blog, the more followers you have, the more it will benefit you if you decide to try to make money with Twitter.

It’s a cycle that you’ll need to be committed to for an indefinite amount of time to get it to the level that you desire. It will take work (and a lot of time invested initially) on your part, but the retailers themselves can also help you with making money using Twitter, too. There are some sponsored advertisements that will actually “tweet” for you when you aren’t logged in or idle, which is in a sense, doing the work for you. This has to be one of the easiest ways to make money out there!

You can also try adding some affiliate marketing links to your tweets.  Check out sites like ClickBank or Amazon affiliates and then promote products with your customized links to make a little extra commission.

You’ll have to be patient as you try to make money using Twitter.  It won’t be a large moneymaker for everyone, and it make take a substantial amount of time before you see any significant income from your tweets. Continue to work at it building your follower base and you should see some growth.
