Living in New England my family has ample opportunity to spent quite a bit of time at the seashore or at all the lakes that we have. Being around water is one of our favorite spots to relax.

Now, just in time for summer enjoyment - Thanks to NCircle Entertainment we had opportunity to review WordWorld: Castles in the Sea DVD.

Word World can currently be seen daily on PBS Kids, and features the vibrant, personable characters Duck, Shark, Sheep, Ant and Robot.

The pace is lively, music entertaining and very colorful. Through this DVD, preschoolers are ab;e to build vocabulary and association skills as well as start to recognize letters of the alphabet.

When the grandkids come to visit, it’s supposed to be all fun and games at Grandmom’s house, right?

It’s interesting how having grandchildren makes you take a stroll down memory lane.

At each milestone, such as rolling over, first tooth, standing, walking - my daughter asks how old she was when she did the same thing. Of course, my memory is foggy at times and I run to consult the baby book. Now mind you, The Baby Book was kept far more up-to-date with daughter #1, than with daughter #2. Such is life.

What I do remember about my youngest daughter is that she developed a love of music. It must have been because from the time she was an infant, she always went to sleep with some sort of music or story-telling CD. That was before the Internet.

Summer is a great time to relax, rewind, and bond with the family. That’s why family vacations are always fun. There’s nothing better when you’re a kid than getting away to someplace new, experience the time of your life, and come away with memories and souvenirs that will last a lifetime.

Perhaps you’d like to take the family on a memorable vacation to one of the National Parks, Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls or maybe Disney World.

If this is your intent, start saving early. You might want to look into credit counseling to help you budget for a summer vacation trip.

You can investigate methods of travel to find the most economical method for your budget and family size. Follow travel deals instead of just the choosing the peak and off-peak seasons. Even in peak times, families can find good travel deals so that each family member can have a great time.

If you’re traveling to an area where your the grandparents or extended family may live, you might ask if you can bunk with them for several days. Not only will you enjoy visiting and bonding, but you’ll be frugal by cutting down on costs.

Recently I was going through my closet, deciding it was time for some new updates. You must have heard the saying that if you “haven’t worn it in a year” that it’s time to get rid of it? Sometimes I go with that maxim, and sometimes it’s a good idea to hang onto things, because you’ll never know when it’ll become fashionable again. I really wish I had held on to some of my clothing from the 1970s.

I don’t live too far from New York City, and always enjoy going down to visit. One of my favorite things to do is to window shop and look at all the cool outfits that the fashion designers are featuring - whether it’s Uptown or down in SoHo.

The Fall 2009 Collections Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is in New York City from Sep. 10 - 17. It is one of four major fashion weeks in the fashion industry and is widely recognized as the world’s premier fashion event. Being at the event is a big deal. Admission is by invitation only, to the fashion industry, fashion press, assorted celebrities, and internet based Fashion press.

Now there’s an opportunity to get some ideas for updating my wardrobe! Well, I could always volunteer to help out! Even though I’m pretty frugal and I might not be able to afford the high-couture lines, there’s some pretty trendy consignment stores around here where I can put “The-Look” together at a fraction of the price!

My niece recently graduated with a Masters from Pratt Institute, and I could have stayed at her place, but she’s moved on to Boston. So it looks like if I’m going down, I’d have to be scoping out some New York vacation rentals.

This would make a great mother-daughter weekend or trip with the “Girlfriends” or my fellow Baby Boomers.

Bath time has certainly evolved since I was a kid - I barely remember bubble bath, if at all, and if I was fortunate enough to use the sudsy stuff, it probably belonged to my mom.

Most children love animals and ‘Lil Moomette is no exception.
