North Carolina Dance Theatre
Founded in 1970, North Carolina Dance Theatre is the oldest professional ballet company in North Carolina. Today, the organization enjoys a national reputation for excellence in programming, education and outreach, and dance training.
Charlotte Children’s Choir
Founded in 1986, the Charlotte Children’s Choir serves the community by providing quality music education with the goal of attaining the highest level of artistic excellence in choral music performance. The Choir serves children generally between the ages of 8-18 and enriches the lives of children from all religious, ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds.

What ever happened to bringing the light rail system all the way from Charlotte to Mooresville? What happened to the promise of being able to jump on a train in Downtown Mooresville and 45 minutes later be in Uptown Charlotte? We need public transportation; we need trains. No matter the cost this should be done. The ability to link Mooresville and Charlotte together and take some cars off the road is invaluable.

I dream about a time when I can have dinner in Downtown Mooresville and enjoy a show in NoDa without ever getting in a car. I dream about a time when I can have a business meeting in Uptown Charlotte, dinner in South Park, and then back home again without ever stepping in a car.

We are way behind other countries when it comes to rail. What ever happened to the Mooresville light rail?

Over the last 10 years Mooresville, NC has boomed and while your options on a Saturday used to be limited there are now all kinds of things to do. Here are five things to do in Mooresville we truly enjoy. Try to make it a point to visit these this year and support our local small businesses.

Lazy 5 Ranch
The Lazy 5 Ranch is a privately owned exotic animal drive thru park that offers a 3.5 mile safari through the gently sloping pasturelands of Piedmont, North Carolina. While visiting the Lazy 5 Ranch you will have the opportunity to view over 750 animals from six different continents. You can see these animals from the safety of your own car or call for reservations on our horse drawn wagons. And be sure to bring your camera! This is a drive-through experience unique to North Carolina. There is no other collection of animals like this in the Southeast.
Lake Norman State Park
At Lake Norman State Park, fun is just a matter of scale. On one hand, there's the largest manmade lake in the state, Lake Norman. When filled to capacity, its surface area is 32,510 acres with a shoreline of 520 miles and a main channel 34 miles in length — thus its nickname, the "Inland Sea." Thirteen miles of the shoreline are in the state park, which provides boating access.
Queen's Landing

Mooresville Gets 'Disney World of Baseball'

It was announced earlier this month that a corporation affiliated with Coopertown Dreams Park in New York has chosen Mooresville to be the site of an $18 million-$21 million, 25-field youth baseball tournament complex. This complex, on 111 acres off Ranklin Hill Road on Mooresville's north side, will be the largest of its kind. The complex, to be called America's Park Mooresville, is expected to bring in an estimated $35 million annually in tourism revenue durning the 13-week height of its season.

This type of facility can be a major blessing to the youth in and around the Mooresville area. Stepping up the competition level of local youth baseball, as-well-as attracting the best of the best in coaching talent will give a crop of youth an opportunity that has not existing in the area before.

Let us hope that the rumors of "sketchy" business practices by some of those involved, as-well-as Coopertown Dream Park's awful website are no reflection on what is to come over the next couple of years with this facility. Mooresville town officials need to hold all involved to their word and make sure this is not just another one of those "dream" projects that never comes into reality. Mooresville and the surrounding area have seen enough of those in the last several years.
