Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path

We have all read this scripture and many of us can probably even quote it. We know that God’s word provides us with direction. Why is it that so often we find ourselves in a huff wondering what the next step is? Everyone has been guilty of allowing themselves to question or even doubt the Lord’s direction. Truly believing that you can find answers reading his word will inevitably change your life.

Prayer: Thank you for speaking to us through your word. In times of weakness, direct us to your word, Lord. Teach us to trust and believe that you have everything under control. In Jesus name, amen.

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

In the generation of social media, the power of comparison has taken over the minds of so many people. It’s easy to think that only the younger generation is affected by the movement but in reality, it is easy for all ages to allow the internet to change how they view themselves. Wanting to be like someone else, or thinking that someone else has the perfect life can very quickly ruin the way you view yourself.

We need to see ourselves the way that God sees us. We are all created differently. God has given each of us a personality and a set of talents that He wants us to use for His kingdom. We have to stop trying to live by how others view us and start focusing on what really matters.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for self confidence today. Help us to see ourselves the way that you see us. In Jesus name, amen.

“But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from.  At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, they left. I don’t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them.” (

In the book of Joshua, Rahab provided a place for the spies to hide. In return, they promised her protection when they would eventually return. It would have been easy for Rahab to give up the location of these men, but she chose to do something different. Sometimes we will be faced with decisions that are really tough. You may be in a situation where you know doing the “right” thing will be totally against the grain. If you are certain that the right thing is, in fact, the right thing, be bold and step out of your comfort zone. God will honor you for it!

Prayer: Lord, help us to hear your voice when you are calling us out to do greater things. Give us the confidence to do what needs to be done even when it isn’t easy. In Jesus name, amen.

The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’

Sometimes God will let us go through things that we cannot understand. In the midst of the difficult situations of our lives, we often wonder how we will ever get through it because it is too hard for us to see a way out. In order for God to show off his incredible power, we have to be in these types of situations. If everything is easy all the time, we can get used to making it through without him. Allow God to work in your life so that others may see Him in your outcomes.

Prayer: Lord, we don’t always understand your ways but help us to trust in your anyway. Continue teaching us to reach out to you when life hands us speed bumps. In Jesus name, amen.
