Those who missed “Most Valuable Players,” the documentary about the 2008 Freddy Awards that was shot entirely in the Lehigh Valley, when it first aired in 2011, will have a second chance to see the film when it re-airs on Oprah Winfrey's channel OWN at 9 a.m. today.

The documentary follows students and teachers from Freedom, Parkland and Emmaus high schools as they competed in the annual high school musical award program at Easton's State Theatre.

A 2005 Parkland grad has won a Daytime Emmy award for his camera work on "Born to Explore with Richard Wiese."

In the creative Daytime Emmy Awards presented Friday, Greg Harriott and cinematographer John Barnhardt won for outstanding achievement in single camera photography on the show which airs at 11 a.m. Saturday on WPVI.

The show stars the explorer known for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro at age 11 and also was nominated for outstanding travel program.

Last fall Harriott and his brother Mark, a 2003 Parkland grad, won the $10,000 jury prize for their documentary on  "Isla Urbana" in the "Intellegent Use of Water" film festival at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills. Greg went to Mexico City to film and then sent the footage to Mark who edited it.  Isla Urbana is a non-profit organization in Mexico City that installs rainwater harvesting systems for low income families in Mexico City where people can go up to three months without access to running water in their homes.  Mark Harriott is an editor for Lifetime and lives in California.

She already has an Oscar but the win for Ann Roth of Lower Mount Bethel Township tonight for her costume designs on "The Nance" was her first Tony.

It was the sixth time Roth had been nominated for a Tony. She was last nominated for her work on “The Book of Mormon,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone's hit Broadway musical.

Roth also has won an Oscar for “The English Patient” and been nominated for “Places in the Heart,” “The Hours” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley.”

She also has been nominated for three Emmy Awards, most recently for “Mildred Pierce,” an HBO mini-series starring Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood.

Her designs for the burlesque comedy “The Nance,”which opened in April and recreates the naughty world of burlesque’s heyday with the backstage story of Chauncey Miles, played by Nathan Lane. “The Nance” which is also won for best sound design as of 9 p.m. when the broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall was still in progress.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson celebrated the trend of throwback Thursday by tweeting a photo of himself when he was 15.

Since he graduated from Freedom, one can imagine he was rather intimidating in high school if this is how he looked when he was just 15!

'We all start somewhere" the action and pro wrestler tweeted, adding the humorous hashtags #BoomBox, #CreepyMustache and #CaptainWhiteShorts.

Johnson also live tweeted throughout the debut of his new reality series "The Hero," in which 50-year-old trauma surgeon was chosen for the Hero's Challenge and had to crawl through the dark and spider-infested bunker of Manuel Noriega to retrieve a bag of $50,000. The battered and bloodied Dave made it out in the nick of time and then chose to put the money in the pot for the team instead of taking it for himself.

"Noriega's Bunker is brutal, dark and crawling w/ tarantulas. This show's about stepping up. Props to #HeroDave," Johnson tweeted.

He also praised the contestants in the first team challenge in which they had to rapell off the 52-story Tower Bank in Panama City.

"This first team challenge was incredibly hard (and crazy) to pull off. My heroes kicked ass," he tweeted.

He promised "more epic moments" on the next episode at 8 p.m. Thursday on TNT.

View the highly acclaimed Lou Reda History production "WWII in HD" along with other History Channel documentaries about World War II produced by the Easton production company during a year-long series at Sigal Museum in Easton.

The museum will kick off the series of documentaries today in honor of the anniversary of D-Day and screen documentaries on 31 anniversaries of significant dates throughout the year.

Screening in a continuous loop from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today are "D-Day: Tribute to WWII;" "WWII in HD;" and "Hell’s Battlefield: D Day" in John Austen Auditorium. The screening is free and open to the public.

The series in honor of World War II's 70th anniversary will continue through June 6, 2014. The film series explores the highlights of World War II, and is launched in conjunction with the museum’s "Liberty Called and Northampton County Answered" special exhibition of World War I & II propaganda posters. The exhibit opens to the public June 22 and will run though November.

Films will be screened 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Veterans and enlisted personnel also can enjoy free museum admission on film showing days with military IDs.

Ann Roth of Lower Mount Bethel Township has been nominated for best costume design of a play for the burlesque comedy “The Nance,” and Easton native Santo Loquasto, who now lives in Wilkes-Barre has been nominated for best scenic design of a play for Manhattan-set family drama “The Assembled Parties.”

Gold Derby website  which tracks award shows has compiled the predictions for the Tonys from 13 entertainment writers from Playbill's Harry Haun to NY Daily News' Wayman Wong. And their predictions for best costume design of a play are favoring Roth's costumes for "The Nance." She received the top spot from 8 of the 13 writers, clearly dominating the field.

However in the category of best scenic design of a play, Loquasto gets the top pick from just one writer - Doug Strassler of the NY Press. Most of the remaining writer chose the scenic design of "The Nance" over Loquasto's designs in "The Assembled Parties."

Find out if they're right when the 2013 Tony Awards are broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City at 8 p.m. Sunday June 9 on CBS.

This is Loquasto’s 16^th Tony nomination for his work as either costume or scenic designer. He has won three times for “Glengarry Glen Ross,” the musical “ Grand Hotel” and “The Cherry Orchard.” Loquasto has worked on more than 70 Broadway productions either as a scenic or costume designer, frequently both, on shows including “Fences,” “Movin' Out,” “Fosse,” “Ragtime,” and “Big.”

He also has been a production designer for many of Woody Allen's films and has been nominated for the Academy Award for his design for “Bullets Over Broadway” and “Radio Days” and for his costume design for “Zelig.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hopes to find the next real hero in his new reality-competition series “The Hero” set to debut at 8 p.m. Thursday on TNT.

In the series which the Freedom grad executive produced with Dany Garcia, nine “average people” are tasked to test their courage, strength, integrity and self sacrifice.

“This is the greatest American adventure you will ever experience from your couch,” Johnson promises in the opening credits of the show.

The Rock also stars in the show as the mentor for the contestants.

In the premier of the show titled “Courage” the contestants who range in age from 24 to 50 are taken to a penthouse suite in Panama where they first encounter Johnson in a helicopter shouting a welcome through a bullhorn to them as they stand on the balcony high above Panama City.

“It’s time to bring it,” he tells the group.

The competitors are Athena, 25, of Worcester, MA., an NFL cheerleader; Charles, 39, of Los Angeles, a police officer; Darnell, 32, of Vancouver, WA., a father who says he is hero to his family; Dave, 50 of Beaumont, CA, a trauma surgeon; Lydia, 31 of Los Angeles, a fitness trainer; Marty, 24, of Centereach, NY, a construction worker; Patty, 46, of Ashland, MA., a wife and mother; Rachel, 34, of Little River, SC., a single mom with a hearing-impaired and Shaun, 30, of Hagerstown, MD., a struggling pro wrestler.

The format of the show has two challenges per episode. The first one requires only six people forcing the competitors to work among themselves to decide who will compete. Within the challenge itself they must further choose among themselves for additional tasks.

In the opening episode, the six competitors had to go to the top of the 52-floor Towerbank and chose four to rappel down the side. They had to choose three
to scale a sculpture on the top of the building. Of those three, the rest had to choose one person for the final challenge.

During the first challenge, Johnson privately contacted one of those who was not competing and offered her $25,000, telling her none of her teammates would know about it but if she took it would increase the difficulty of the others’ challenge, creating a moral dilemma.

For his challenge the final competitor chosen had to crawl through Manuel Noriega’s creepy underground bunker among the dirt and spider without a light. At the end he too was offered $50,000 which he could put toward the final prize or take home himself without anyone else knowing.

Since each competitor only has a one in nine chance of winning the final prize, there is a lot of temptation for them to take the secret money and that seems to be a key component of the competition. And since the winner will be determined by viewers through social media, the contestants must decide if taking the money would make them look bad to the audience.

Each week viewers will determine the contestant they consider to be the most heroic on the show website, Facebook, and Twitter using #TheHero.

An ad that's been making the rounds on Service Electric, Comcast and RCN cable networks for Fiat of the Lehigh Valley has been generating lots of attention.

The ad features the "Fiat flick" kind of like the punch buggy tradition where you punch someone in the arm when you see a of Volkswagen, only here you flick someone when you see a Fiat.

The ad written, produced and directed by local filmaker Zeke Zelker is filled with local actors including Jon Lunger, Troy Brokenshire, Kathy Patterson, Julia Campbell, Naomi Burley and Kris Jordan.

Fans can even go to www.fiatflick.com and beginning June 15 enter their own Fiat flick on social media to win a prize.

Meanwhile Zelker has been busy with his latest film project "Billboard," which he is currently casting.

The movie is about a radio station owner who is trying to save his struggling station, WTYT960. He decides to hold a billboard sitting contest, where four people will live on a billboard until only one is left who will win a mobile home and "nine-sixty thousand" dollars. 

As part of the project Zelker has created a virtual radio station for which over 320 bands have submitted their music to become a part of the station’s playlist. He plans to shoot in the fall.
