Yes, you are reading this correctly, INDY Baby!  MORPCA is finalizing plans for a 3-day weekend event for our return to the world famous Brickyard in 2017.  This will be MORPCA’s 3rd year offering an HPDE at the Brickyard and the only such PCA HPDE event there in 2017.  We will be running the Indy Grand Prix course, crossing the start finish Brickyard strip on the main straight.

Beginners* are welcome for this 3-day event!

You can anticipate that this HPDE ticket will be in high demand again this year, as it was sold out last year.  Additionally we are again opening it up this year to Beginners, and SCCA has announced that they will be holding a regional racing event at IMS in 2017, so you can expect advance driver demand for practice time in 2017 to get a leg up on the competition at that 2017 event  So we encourage you to register early to secure your spot in 2017.

This will be an Fully Instructed HPDE.  Registrants will have to meet minimum* Beginner HPDE experience requirements (that being one other HPDE event at one other track).

Finish off the 2017 track season with this 3-day event.  Includes a Friday Lapping Day and tentative Instructor Certification Day, followed by a full 2-day HPDE to include all experience levels.

1st timers / beginners are welcome for Saturday and Sunday!

The Friday Lapping Day is for Instructors and Advanced HPDE Students. The Instructor Training Day on Friday is run in conjunction with the Friday Lapping Day and consists of “National Training” given by National PCA representatives, with graduates receiving a National PCA Instructor Training Certificate.

We will be offering on Sunday a Half-Day Introduction to HPDE (“DE Lite”) again this year at our fall event.

The Club Race & HPDE weekend is less than two months away! Club Race registration opens in 7 days (Monday, March 20).Registration for the HPDE has been open since January and some run groups are approaching capacity. Don’t delay! Sign up today!

Club Race Schedule (subject to approval):

Both Sprint Races for both race run groups will be run on Saturday. Both Enduro races will tentatively be 70-minutes each with a mandatory pit stop. The Club Race should be concluded by noon on Sunday!

Hotel:

Once again we have a special MORPCA discount at the Quality Inn and Comfort Inn hotels (Bellville) at I-71 and Rt 97 for the weekend. It’s only 13 minutes to the track! Two queen bed rooms are $93 and a single king bed room is $103 a night including breakfast. Please book before our block of rooms are released on April 13th. Phone: 419-886-7000.

Camping and Power:

We have secured over-night camping and security for Thur/Fri/Sat evenings.  For those needing electrical hooks and not in garages (which have electricity), there are a few spots we will rent along the eastern fence in the middle paddock.  Mid-Ohio is charging a fee to hook up to power locations, so check with us first before parking in those locations or connecting to the power grid.

TG (Petrolicious): What’s in your collection now?

Pat Long: Right now I’m working through the ’60s to the ’90s, a ’66 912 and a ’61 356 is what I have in the ’60s. Both bought them from the original owners and they just have a complete history and a lot of little things I’m working through. They’re by far the most perfect cars. In the ’70s I have a narrow-body 73E that’s pretty hot underneath the hood and the rest of it looks stock. From the garida.net outside it’s light ivory. That’s my regular go-to car because it’s sort of a dress up, dress down. 72E is a hot rod flared project car hayamix and then ’81 930 car which is another one that’s a very low mile car that’s working through some bugs. Then a ’91 C2 that’s just a low mileage, pristine car that’s really fun to take my wife to dinner in.

Like a helmet, head and neck restraint is a safety system you should give though too if getting serious about HPDE events, especially when sitting right seat Instructing.
