The joy of appreciating people around you

The joy of appreciating people around you.

I love it when people appreciate my work, character or attitude. You must love the same.

Do you do the same with people around you?

When was the last time you appreciated your parents, your boss, your friend or your care taker?

I consider appreciation as a magic stick. Once its rolled on the people, it works like a wonder.
It gives a sense of satisfaction to the other and it gives a joy to self for appreciating others on their hard work.

I remember the instance from the movie Munnabhai MBBS, The actor Munnabhai ( Sanjay Dutt) appreciated the old cleaning guy at hospital with Jaadu ki Jhappi ( a Magical Hug )

Appreciating people is not difficult but we often either forget it

Or we are shy of doing it

Or we are too busy to do it

Or we are too big to appreciate the small act J

Let me quickly describe the benefits of appreciating people around us.

We improve our relationship with the people around us drastically

We improve our self-image ahead of others marginally

We increase our happiness index scientifically

We earn good Karma holistically

We love successfully

So what was your experience when you appreciated other's efforts?

Express your feelings.

We end up spending too much of time to understand what is around us, but you will have hard time to reply this question “Do you know yourself?”

The question has lot of practical value as well as spiritual value.

I would take a practical approach towards answering this question, this might help you do a self-analysis.

I won’t be surprised after doing a self-discovery or knowing yourself you will find a totally different person living within you.

OK, so let me ask you this.

When did you felt an electrifying current within you? Off course on a positive side of this effect :-).

Memorize why did you felt that? (Write that activity somewhere please, I will ask this again) .

As per my experience, when we have such extreme feeling, that is the activity we have loved more than anything else in life.

Next question , When was the last time you felt so relaxed that the whole body weight of yours came to almost zero?

(This questions is not for physics lovers, I don’t want to learn that zero gravity theory again :-) )

So you remember what made you feel like this? (Write that activity somewhere, I might remind this again)

Let me ask you a little difficult question now.

When was the last time you did something and you felt like you are almost committing a crime?

(Write that activity and we can take this later in this blog)

What is the thing you do with lot of physical or mental stress and you still don’t feel tired?

What is opposite to that? Where you do a bit and feel bored/tired/stressed vry quick?

(Write all those aside please)

Now here is the clue.

The activities we love to do, where we feel an electrifying current within us, those are the things that excite us, and we should choose such things to align
our career towards that activities. Believe me , you will be a most successful person.

The activities that relax you more than anything else, we should do it frequently, regularly. By doing it at frequent intervals, you will improve your happiness index or in other words you will be happiest person on the earth.

The act that deprives you, that make you feel like a criminal are the acts you should avoid doing. It could be a very minute thing, it may not be a crime actually but if it breaks your moral down, that is a crime because you are making yourself unhappy by doing such. So why to repeat such acts.

The acts that make you feel bored/stressed very quickly are the acts actually not meant for your kind of personality.

Something where you never felt like tired, you keept doing it without looking at the clock, are the acts where you should try your career.

The exercise for you is this, write it or memorize it where you felt great and when did you not.

Gradually you will know where your expertise lies and what else is meaningless for you.

Considering the spiritual side of knowing yourself, it said that we are all unique and born with our unique capabilities.

We are all Gems but it’s just the time we have to discover ourselves, the sooner we do it, the quicker we reach to our destined places.

Good luck for self discovery. Know yourself and you will know your God Very soon :-)

Self talk is like an auto installed program which is installed in the computer of your Brain.
You have been using it unknowingly for many years but you never realized its good and bad uses.

So in so many terms you have never explored the potential of Self Talk.

I would like you to think over it today and experience a great benefit of Positive Self Talk.
Why Am I Saying Positive Self Talk?

Because you have been using Negative side of Self Talk more than Positive Self Talk.?

How and When?

Well every time, almost every day we have been talking to ourselves and telling us something those are not really positive words.

I won’t get parking space today :-(

I might get fined by Traffic Police :-{

I might lose this :-|

Aren’t you saying this to yourself? That’s what we call Negative Self Talk.
Such negative self talk leads to undesirable results.

But we can change our life by changing our Self Talk program.

Slowly and gently but gradually we have to convert our self talk from negative to positive.

Gentle start should be good, don’t panic and never tell yourself that you should not think negative, If you tell this to yourself “don’t think negative”.. you are increasing your panic by criticizing yourself.

Start gentle, start slow but start steady. Just change the words that you speak to yourself.

How?

Positive Self Talk is a process of installing smaller updates to your installed program in brain 
Instead of saying “I wont get a parking space” please say “I will most likely get a parking space today” . Keep saying this to yourself daily.

And some day that “most likely” will become “I will sure” once you have matured in positive self talk.

Positive self talk is a scientific process, telling positive things to yourself will bring positive changes in life.

Consider Self talk as a nearest and dearest friend lives with you all the time. Would you prefer to tell him/her negative words or positive words?

Of course you won’t talk negative to your nearest friend, then why not to speak positive to self?

Positive self talk is a slow and steady process, so keep saying good and positive words to yourself daily and you will notice a great positive change in your life.

Untitled Document

Why Winners only have Plan A?

Do you aim to do something in your life? Are you sure about it?

What if you don’t achieve it? Do you have Plan B and what if Plan B fails?

If you have Plan B and subsequent plans, I am sorry to say you may not be the winner.

I am not kidding when I am saying this.
The winners have only plan A and they keep working on it till they successfully execute it.
While people of other group (I didn’t want to write losers ) have always Plan A, B, C… and so many.

“Keeping things safe is always a plan to die”.

The winner will never seek the safety but a surety of winning on his plan,

That means “Winners also fail but they never fail to start again”.

The psychiatric or scientific reason for this is, when you work on only one Plan, that means your “Plan A”, you are putting your 100% of mental and physical energy towards it. In other words your Plan A gets 100% of justice from you. If something gets justice of that class, it’s bound to happen some day.

In other case, your energy is scattered across various plans, you are not ready to fall and get up again, so you plan 100 different things to avoid failure, guess what?

Your energy is now not working on one plan but various plans, we have our limitations as a human being, so when we have different plans on hand, we might get little success in all but the joy of 100% success comes only when we achieve 100% of what we wished to achieve.

The questions you should ask to yourself,

What do you wanted to achieve?

Have you justified your Goal today?

Have you inched towards your goal today?

Have you every thought, why the world has few successful people?

Do you believe that successful people are the only qualified or highly deserving people for that success?

If you think that, you might be wrong, successful people are not the only deserving people but they are the only few, who kept working towards their Plan A. while others like you and me kept thinking of Plan B, C and more….

What if Amitabh bachhan would have thought of plan B after his failed attempt to secure a role in Movies? We would have not seen the great actor today?

What if Sachin Tendulkar would have also played Football and tennis as his Plans B and C, we would have not seen the great cricketer today.

In opposite to that Salil Ankola ( a forgotten cricker and actor) had various plans, he failed in cricket so he tried in acting, he failed again and now he is nowhere.

Sabir Bhatia, when he was focused towards innovation, he invented Hotmail and made himself millionaire. Then after he started to work on various products and nothing reached near to his past success. Why? The person was same but the plans were scattered.

Based on examples and experience of mine so far, I strongly believe that if you want to be successful, an achiever, keep working on your primary plan A. your chances of success will be always higher. Believe in your plan and put your 100% towards that.

It is today which is going to make all the difference in your life.

It is today that was not yesterday and that will not be tomorrow to you.

Like yesterday, today has started with its own importance and reason; did you find the reason for Today?

Believe me; if you don’t find the reason for today, you are going to lose today again like you did yesterday. But No, today you have to make a great day that you could not yesterday.

Oh; so why was it lost yesterday? because you didn’t care and let it passed by like any other day.

Didn't you?

Here is a wonderful poem on daily motivation I have written for you to take by heart.

You have to move ahead and make the difference today.
The whole world is waiting for you, to think and do something for you and them today.

Your success; your achievements are waiting for you today.

It’s not really easy; it’s a difficult day today.

You are alive, you are healthy and you can do everything today.

Change if you can, make if you can, build if you can today.

Wake up, arise, and step ahead towards the goal today. ( swami vivekanand )

Fight if you can, finish if you can and bury all your obstacles today.

It was Gandhi, it was newton, it was napoleon that did this someday.

But it’s your turn now, do it today.

Its magnetic, its energetic, its fantastic day today.

You are alive, away from grieve; so don’t just survive,

Change the circumstance, make the difference and do it today.

Think if you can, plan if you can, but run little fast today.

(For your studies)
Gain the knowledge today, read the Geeta and Bible today
If it’s lost, if it’s gone, if it’s past, you would never get it today.

( for society and needy around)
There are hungry, there are needy, and there are lonely today.
Feed them today, retrieve them today, and are there to cheer them today.

( for your parents)
They want you here, they deserve your care while they are there.
Heal them today, rejoice them today,

( about your goals)
Meet your passion, show your compassion, and delete the depression
With heart full of cheers, greet them today

(For Your family)
You offered a shelter, you offered a love
Now they need little more, give them today

(Finally for almighty god)
He was watching you yesterday, he will do it tomorrow but he will do it today
He wants you to listen; he wants you to feel, he wants you to meet him today.

The Life is full of troubles and opportunities, its how we take the life makes lot of difference on how we live the life, here is another dose of some motivational words or words of wisdom for you, they are selective pearls of wisdom shared by some well known personalities of the world.

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."

-- Mother Teresa, charity worker

"The most dangerous question a prospect or customer asks is "Why should I?" And he may ask it more than once... The product and its communication stream must continue to provide him with both rational and emotional answers."
-- Lester Wunderman, marketing pioneer

"Happiness is only a byproduct of successful living."
-- Austen Riggs, psychiatrist

"Without courage, all other virtues lose their meaning."

-- Winston Churchill, British prime minister

"Someone might have a germ of talent, but 90% of it is discipline and how you practice it, what you do with it. Instinct won't carry you through the entire journey. It's what you do in the moments between inspiration."

-- Cate Blanchett, actress

"Only by coming to grips with difficulty can you realize your full potential."

-- Charles de Gaulle, president of France

"We want a society where people are free to make choices, to make mistakes, to be generous and compassionate. This is what we mean by a moral society; not a society where the state is responsible for everything, and no one is responsible for the state."

-- Margaret Thatcher, British prime minister

"Courage is not limited to the battlefield. The real tests of courage are much quieter. They are the inner tests, like enduring pain when the room is empty or standing alone when you're misunderstood."
-- Charles Swindoll

"What keeps so many employees back is simply unwillingness to pay the price, to make the exertion, the effort to sacrifice their ease and comfort."

-- Orison Swett Marden, motivational expert
-- The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

There may be a time when you are finding but not meeting your inner Hero. That is lost in dark.

What is that dark about and why has it hid your inner hero?

The dark is this

1. The lack of confidence in you.

2. A belief that made you hero is gone or decreased.

3. Your patience is at its lowest.

4. Your spirit is at its lowest. You have a Fear of Future.

5. Your moral is down.

Such dark is so strong that it will hide your heroic abilities, your best won’t come out unless you hit back to those dark characteristics of your own.

So here you are, you want to find your hero back in you and here are the tricks.

1. Ignore the critic and keep moving towards the way that you believed is right.

2. Let the time do its work, develop the patience.

3. Work hard, there is no replacement of hard work.

4. Find out where are you best at, keep doing those things again. Love Yourself.

5. Never quit, the moment you decide to move the stones and make it happen, you are already a winner.

Steve Jobs, the former CEO of Apple Inc Once said

“You have to believe in something: destiny, life, karma, whatever”

The belief is the key to find back your inner hero. If you have once thought that you will be doing something great with your life, that was a belief and you have to stick to that belief until you have done something important for you, your family, society or nation.

Interesting to Read my past blog : An Interview with Life

Hey, who are you?
This is the only constant factor in our life, yes you are correct, and it’s the “Change”.
It doesn’t give a great feeling when we encounter with this great thing in life, so did it with me, here is my conversation with the change and how I did “Change Management”

Hey lazy, getup, I am here

Who? Who are you?

Well, I am yours but you never have tried to accept me?

You are mine? I have many things of mine, and who are you from?

I am within you but I live in outer aura of yours.

Oh man, don’t confuse me, tell me who are you and why the hell you are asking me to get up.
You know how comfortable I am, I love doing all what I am doing.

Ok, I understand but do you know that you are not doing what you should be?

Sorry, elaborate?

You think you are doing right but you are not?

Oh, didn’t know that? Then why were the things good to me if I was wrong.

See, you said; things were good, are they good today?

Oh.. Yes.. they are not good as they used to be.

Yes, they are not good because things have changed and you wanted me desperately.

I never called you, never asked you, then why have you appeared?

Because I knew i am the only one who can make you better than what you are.

I am better, in fact the best that I can do.. but ya.. don’t know why?

Because you are the best, you want me, adopt me and see how your best comes out from you.

Ok, let me try, what do I do now?

“Change the way you have been looking at the things” , this can make things lot easier than before.

Change the way… how does it matter?

It will Change the way of working, add little more to your daily life?

So you mean I have to work hard..?

Did I say that? Only working hard doesn’t solve your problem.

Then?

Work to the best of your capabilities and insure that you have done it right.

Look at the things and think that there is always a better way of doing this.. Isn’t that true?

Ya, true, I know what you mean. I have to change the way of working. And making sure that you are not leaving no stone unturned. Not leaving a scope of failure by putting checks at every step.

Putting a full heart towards my daily routine can really change the scenario.

Yes, exactly. Try to understand the requirement of every responsibility,
Each necessity has its own set of requirements and ways of doing,
If we extend reach of our heart and try to listen those requirements, we always can get an answer.

The answer is, getup, “this is the time to change”.

There are always two ways of living. Either you accept whatever happens to you or go and “Change” them as you wish them to be.

Choice is yours.

Oh “Change”, hug me, love me and I love you too. Let me “change the way of life”.

After this exercise I am sure you will find the "Hero In You".

Let me take you on a journey of Life at the vehicle of Cricket, the most popular game in India. This game has always inspired me to live a better life; I would like to take an opportunity to share my thoughts on the how cricket can inspire the life.

The Toss : This is the matter of luck, who wins the toss is only decided by the almighty god, so as with life, where have you born and when, is decided by someone you don’t know but you have born that is the truth :-), so the only option you have is “Let’s Play, Let’s live this wonderful Journey of Life”

Batting First: Here the bowler is the life and circumstances; you are the batsman. You need to be sure that you have to play a long innings, so staying on crease is important. The bowler is solid so as the life and circumstances, you got to play every ball to score runs on the pitch of life, leaving the balls alone is like leaving the opportunities going away from you.

You are not playing alone: You have to score runs but you cannot do it alone, you have your team mates, so in life your partner, your friends, your team mates and well-wishers, play well and let others play, let them help you and your team to score well. Relationship matters a lot in life and game.

Keep moving: Score ones and twos when the bowler like life is bowling tough deliveries; stick to the crease if the life like bowler is at its best performance, you need to wait for weak deliveries to hit your boundaries. Not all the deliveries are meant for boundaries but we know in a match of life, boundaries like success do come and it should keep coming in longer and shorter formats. Develop patience and hit the bowl when situations are favorable.

Last over, few bowls remaining: This is the time to hit very hard; it’s now or never, score as much as you can so that you can defend this score later. Life also has such incidents where you have to do your best, perform or perish. Every single run counts, every single effort counts in life.

Let us Bowl Now : This is the different perspective of life, throw challenges to your life like batsman, you need to deliver the best to beat the tough life like batsman, make sure any of the batsman ( read challenges of life here) of this difficult life doesn’t succeed. Beat the difficulties, get the stumps of every problems of life and you know the match is yours if you have beat the opponents (problems/difficulties) at every aspect of game.

Cheer the team: Every player is important, you need a good wicket keeper to cover the stumps, you need few good fielders to cover the field, a good batsman to stay longer with you, so as you need friends, philosophers and guides to help you succeed. Cheer all the people helping you to win the game of life.

The best Moments: Remember the best catch of yours, the best batting innings and the great over that you bowled. Life is about the best moments, keep those memories with you and remind yourself that you can repeat those performances once again, every time in your cricket like life.

Man of the Match: So now you have played well, you deserve the man of the match award, look back and see how import it is to play well, bat well, bowl well and field well.

Isn’t it a strange topic right? We have been talking to love our work, love our parents, and love our friends…. And what is this, Love Yourself? Yes. We have been missing this very important thought for numerous occasions in life. Let’s talk on this today.

Most of us are so good in our lives that we always victimize ourselves and keep punishing ourselves mentally (or sometimes physically), have we ever thought that we are a nice living being and we should love ourselves equally that we love others?

Making mistakes, taking decisions ( right or wrong), falling apart is always a human nature, what if the mistakes grow larger, what if decisions are proven to be wrong, what if we are not as good as our peers, is this something we should be worried about, or rather we should take an action and correct it? Choice is yours, Worrying kills and Action builds.

Lets explore some techniques and learn how to better love ourselves.

A question we ask ourselves : I wasted so many years doing this, Oh My God such an Idiot I was?Dear Brother/Sister, it was your decision to do something that you now consider as a waste, so where is the question of wasting. No time is wasted, it gives you an experience that helps in long term, build a patience in life. If you think there is a better way to do it, do it now, if you hate yourself then you will never be able to correct your mistakes. Love yourself, accept mistakes and go ahead.

We Quastion our Ability : I don’t have a sense to judge right or wrong.

Let’s accept this as a destiny. The almighty God wants us to do something and we do it, if it happens to be wrong, we should have courage to accept that as a decision from heaven. And if there is something is possible to be correct, let’s try and correct it. If it’s not a correctable judgment, let’s learn a lesson and move ahead.

Forgive and Forget.

You have to forgive yourself for the mistakes like you do for others, forget the chapters of life that have left unpleasing experience in the life.

Balancing Act

If something happened that you didn’t want to do and it happened, try to balance it by doing something that you wanted to do and make others and yourself feel proud of it, a balancing act would always reduce the pain of unhealthy thoughts.

Shed the tears but don’t forget to laugh

Shedding tears is an act of most courageous individual if you do it for right cause. But make sure you laugh enough in a day to pay the price for those tears. Laughing is the best gift we can give to ourselves, so let’s don’t wait for it, and gift it to you today :-)

Fear is not an unknown entity to all of us. We have fear of losing, fear of future, fear of failure and sometimes fear of fear also :-)

I will not try to remove that fear from the roots but I am very much interested to redefine it for simplicity and better life perspective.

In most of the cases the fear gets worse when we don’t act on the factors that stimulate the fear within us.

So the best medicine of fear is “Act today so that you are not afraid of tomorrow”.

Exam fear, if we are prepared and if we can prepare better, why not to prepare ourselves today.

Presentation fear, the audience is not going to kill us if we are not making a good presentation but we are afraid because we are unprepared J why are you going unprepared?

Fear of lenders, can’t we prepare a schedule of payments to make sure we are on time? Or even if we are going to miss the dates of payment, it’s good to communicate and reschedule the payments and remove the fear.

Fear of not meeting expectations, did you set the expectations right at the other end? Did you communicated well to the person who expected something from you?

Fear of Child from the Parent, Why the child can be honest to the parent about their mistakes, no one would be unhappy if we show our honesty towards mistakes. The parents should be honest and transparent with their children so they inspire the love of parent and child, fear at either end would harm the relationship. Neither parent nor the child would prefer to do injustice to each other. So why to be afraid of being honest?

Fear of Losing, when we are afraid of losing, either we have a lack of confidence or we are always expecting a win, let me ask you this, can anyone win always? Then why there is a fear of loss?

We have to bring our confidence and positivity at its peak level so that one or two loses or few more should not let us down, keep moving and have courage to face the loss. Winning is not important, it’s important that how we play the game of life, living with fear would certainly ruin the joy of life.

If we are ready, prepared and confident today, we can make this “Fear” an unknown entity tomorrow. Even if we are not prepared, not ready, less confident, no worries please.

Let’s accept the situation with courage and prepare ourselves next time. Fear should not kill us; we have to kill the fear.

Reinventing Yourself

Reinventing Yourself

This is the exercise everyone should do at least once in a life; this would be surely a life changing experience. Reinventing yourself could open up your own self and seeing the different perspectives of the life.

First Step: Check Your Happiness Index

Have you ever asked yourself, Are you Happy?

If not, do it now. Happiness is the root of everything happens in your life.

If you are not happy, there is something wrong that needs a correction as soon as possible.

I hope you won’t blame the circumstances or the fate/destiny for your happiness.

Happiness is the way you take good and bad things in your life and how well you act on it.

No one can make you sad if you really don’t want to be.

So first and foremost thing you should do is, find what is wrong, act on it, correct it so you can improve your happiness index.

Step Two: Do what you like to do

Do you know what you like most to do? If not, please find that first :-)

Doing what you like daily/weekly/monthly would surely improve your happiness index.

If you are not doing, think what you like to do, what you liked to do in past.

You will find something you liked to do earlier but due to time/circumstances/constraints you are now unable to do.

Doing such small things might have been a reason behind your success in past and if you stop doing so, you may not taste the success in future.

Till the time I was keeping my routine playing, tv and some house hold, I could achieve good in my 10th standard, but I stopped doing that in pressure of 11th and 12th standard, I could not do wonders. A lesson learnt, do what you like to do, this will release your pressure of performance.

Step Three: Find your specialty and leverage that

Very few of us do internal analysis of us to find what we are good at. Perhaps some good friends and well-wishers tell us about our good things. We should listen to that voice that says you are good at this… and seek an opportunity in that career.

There is a difference between what I should be doing and what my specialty is. Peer pressure will ask you to do what you should be doing and your inner soul would be always pushing you towards your special god gifted inner skill.

I was writing code of software for few years of my life till I realized I am good at marketing and management. It took some time but once the realization has happened I have never looked back.

People have done wonders when they have done what they are good at.

All of us have a hidden leader within us and that comes out only when we take more responsibility. Leadership is all about taking more than individual capability and making sure it’s done as desired with the help of ours and subordinates.

I would like to describe key factors of leadership that would simplify this subject for newly elected leaders or someone aspiring to be a leader in future.

Put yourself to other's shoes: This is the first lesson, leadership is not about me, and it’s about we. Leadership is not about how I want to do; it’s about how people would do it the way we want them.

Understanding people and circumstances, considering their capabilities, pros and cons of them and utilizing them for wellbeing of the tasks assigned to them.

Comparison is the killer. Never compare subordinate with yourself. You might be a superstar but you were not like that from day one, so if you really want to compare, do it right with right age and experience. Do not compare people with people, not all of us are same.

Do not Under Estimate or Over Estimate: not everyone in your team has same capabilities, but you should always know your people well. Load them with difficult task and see who comes out well in the test. Use that person for difficult tasks who does it quick and smart. Few are good at small things only, let them do that and be happy with that.

Over expectations could turn out to be nightmare, if you over expect from an average person, you might end up losing the person or putting the person in solid mental state.

Judging people is the key, put right people at right job.

Plan it well: Plan your resources, plan your time, plan almost everything before you can move ahead. Because you may fail but plan will not.

Let your subordinate involve in plan, ask them their availability, they should agree with your plan, check with senior management about their inputs. Check your calendar, whether, holidays in country, holidays of customers and all that matters to your tasks.

Such plans with above factors will be less vulnerable for failure.

Providing a correct career path to subordinates: You cannot move ahead without replicating yourself. So do not shy away from sharing your success secrets with people under you.

Give them the vision for the career path. They would love you if they see they are improving with you and they are on right track to replace you some day and you replace your senior.

Human Factor, use it right: all of us like to have love, warmth and respect. Deal with your subordinate with those factors but make sure you are being fair.

Being too sweet could be a disaster and being bitter won’t help. The best way out is being fair. Practice of being fair with people, being fair means evaluating people on standards set by organization or expecting something that is promised by individuals themselves.

Example : Mr. X promised to finish some task tomorrow, and tomorrow comes, he wants to go home early without making sure he finished the promised task or not, here you need to deal with him stating that stick to your promises, or don’t promise unless you can really make it.

Here you were not being sweet like to let him go without finishing, you were not harsh that you could order him to do it anyhow, but you made him realize that it’s important to keep promises. This is called being fair.

Be friendly with people with you but expect a respect from them, get close to them but let them know that you are a bit ahead and you have to be; because only then you can take them to next level.

Don’t just look back, Look forward: This is management perspective. Leaders are responsible to senior management also, so keeping senior management in confidence is important.

You are the one, who would make the management’s dreams come true along with your dreams, so “being a Yes Man/Woman” is important. Management loves those leaders.

In a nutshell taking responsibilities, drawing a right plan, using senior management’s experience, utilizing the given work force efficiently and improving your mental state every day is all we call a “Leadership simplified”

Integrity, A Passion for Life

Ever thought of doing something really good and not waiting to get reward of it?
This is something we are going to explore in today's chapter. The Integrity.

Doing right and Doing something that is not just helping me/myself but that helps others,
that is a responsibility of a great soul. let me try to put few things forward where we can apply the great formula.

At Work ( my obvious start :-) )
Most of us know the demand of our profession, Something that we can improve but we are not approaching that.
Most of us are waiting till the next reminder comes on table. aren't we?

Sometimes we know how to make things better but we wait till we are asked to do?
let me ask you a difficult question now... Why are we waiting to be asked?

The law of integrity works in reverse direction than the above mentioned human fundamental behavior.

Do it right and do it now if it helps you, or it helps others or it helps organization.
But here comes the twist of story..... Do not do it if it was just an act of getting noticed.

An integral step towards good being is always gets noticed without saying but we got to have patience.

Example 1 : Every organization has some process related scope of improvement.
Certain things do not require a high level permission to change things little bit and make it efficient. A responsible professional can solve it and when the time comes, he/she can take the credit.

Example 2: Stopping others to do something wrong could save the organization from major/minor loss. When there is a right time, nothing wrong to pin point that how an individual helped the company.

A Home ( I love this area :-) )
We all do what is expected from us at Home, Sometimes we don't do what is expected :-(
Do we do something that is not expected but could be a great thing for Home and Family?
Do we take initiatives to make the house hold processes little better?
If we do it, we try to look around and see if someone noticed it or not?

Most of us are very serious about what all is related to Home,
But Integrity rule is "Do the best, Do it better than before without letting Family know that you did this, You started this first and others followed. "

Example 1 : Taking an insurance for home, takes a bit of money but could be a savior in case of disaster. ( sorry i am not selling an insurance here :-) i thought this is a good example. ) Do we wait till the senior member ask us to do or do we do it without even letting other's know it.

Example 2 : Contribution for family or household expense/investment. We can encourage others by putting major contribution from our end and let others follow. because we are integral part of family. ( this doesn't apply to a family of 2 or around but if you are younger one, you can inspire the elder with your integral actions)

At Society and Nation ( You cannot ignore this )
We forget many times that we are integral part of our society and our nation.
The routine hinders our responsible citizen living within us.
But that doesn't mean that we are allowed to go away from our responsibilities towards nation and our society.
Do we see something going wrong in society and still we ignore it, just to avoid difficulties for ourselves?
Do we see there is a scope of improvement in something routine in society and still we don't try and we think... what the hell going to change if i change today?

The law of integrity says "Change if you think it can help society, A good society build good people like you and me", we can create a platform for others by taking initiatives in society.

Example 1 : I ask people to wait in a queue if there is a heavy rush for certain things. That helps all to get things on time and with peace of mind

Example 2 : Planting trees and encouraging others to do it would be a great way of showing your integrity towards society and nation.

It's not difficult to build an Integrity but we just have to have passion for this.

An Interview with Life

I would like to present some of the glimpse of my recent interview with Life

Life : What do you expect from me?
Me : Oh a lot.

Life : Good, describe few so I can give you some.

Me : Three things at least, 1. Price 2. Popularity 3. Peace

Life : great, So how soon you want the Price ( Money )?

Me : hmm very smart, As soon as possible?

Life : Ok and then, who and how will you use it?

Me : simple, will spend, save and make more money for me and family?

Life : And then?

Me : then what? I will soon become popular because of my money?

Life : So you believe money can make you popular? Have you heard about Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabh bhai patel, George Washington, Thomas Alva Edison?

Me : Yes great personalities. They are remembered now and forever.

Life : Yes Me too remember them because they lived the best of the life ever, I asked the same question from them that I asked you and the answer was different.

Me : Hmm so you have been asking this question to all, well what was their answer?

Life: will tell you later, so what next after popularity?

Me : Oh nice question, I will be a Happy person, I will get Peace then after.
Life : I don’t think so, remember Lady Diana ( wife of prince Charles, wasn’t she popular ) and how she died in lack of peace in life? Gurudutt ( the great indian actor), Meena Kumari ( great indian actress) All of them had money and popularity but they didn’t had peace in life.

Me : Oh my god and I thought money and popularity can give me a peace in life.

Life : No my child, that is wrong perception.

Me : Then what should I do to get the peace?

Life : You know the answer, peace is within you and in your activities.

Me: But what do I do to get the peace? I Don’t understand

Life: Ok let me ask you simple thing? Have you ever served water to some one ? How do you feel then?

Me: I feel good to give but giving is the peace?

Life: Nope the joy of giving and doing something for someone is peace and doing an act that could benefit a group of living being is peace.

Me: So I should do social service? Then when should I care for my family?

Life: Your family will ask only what you give them, if you give less they expect less if you give more, they expect more. Now it up to you that you are giving more money to them or giving more happiness to them. Try to give them both and see where they are happy. With money or with moments of happiness?
Exercise: Take family to a super mall, do lot of shopping, then eat in expensive cuisine, watch movie in expensive theater, come back home and keep a note of level of happiness.

Then next time take them to a simple park or just a peaceful place, talk a lot about good old days, take their opinion on past and future, plan something for future together ( after retirement life etc ) and then note the level of happiness. Make sure you do it free flow without planning anything, just let the moment go by and you and family can enjoy it.

No need to tell me where you found the more happiness.. You know the answer.
Me : Hmm will try this, probably I know what you mean.

Life: I have given meaning to everyone’s life, there is a purpose behind living, when you know it then we might not have to schedule interview again.

Me : But one last thing, shouldn’t I earn money then?

Life : You can but create a wealth where everyone benefits. Remember God has made you capable to earn the money because there are various who are not fortunate to earn like you do.
Anyway, thanks for your time, God Bless You.

value creation does pay off

Value creation applies to all level of working professionals from a small business to big business or even an employee or consultant. Value creation has been discussed so far in terms of business and organizations only, but I would like to take first step to describe it for both, business and worker.

As an employee, let me explain how you can create a value for yourself.
1. Your attitude can create a higher level of value in you; your employer would love to retain you forever if you have created an inspiring personality within you. If your efforts contribute higher towards the growth of the institution you are working for, you have created a value for you.

2. Your professional skills helps you increase your market value, find out what is most demanding skill in the market, learn it, create a report, present to management and see how it does a miracle for you. Good communication could be a great skill to have.

3. Improve your efficiency, quality and quantity of the work over a period of time, so your employer doesn’t have to think twice when he reviews your profile.

4. Taking additional roles and responsibilities will surely help you improve your value at workplace.

For Entrepreneurs on how to create value for their organization
1. Install a process in the organization for almost every function
2. Create profitable model of business
3. Project yourself well and your organization as a growing organization
4. Provide the best quality service
5. Make yourself available to customer
6. Retain customers for longer period

If you have created a value in your business, in your role, in your skills, personality, there is always someone to pay a good price for it.

Decision Making, Difficult or Simple?

Making a decision, right or wrong but they do change lot of things in our life. It’s difficult job but there are scientific ways to make it more systematic and less painful.

Let me describe few to help you

1. Ask yourself that if your Yes will be more beneficial or your No would be more meaningful for certain decisions.

2. Calculate the advantages and disadvantages of Saying Yes or Saying No. Put that on paper. so It becomes easier to read and decide if this decision will give more benefits or more problems for you in future.

3. Put up long term benefits and long term issues on paper based on decision.. what is more important for you.

4. Is the decision is inline with your passion or your dreams you have been seeing with open eyes, if yes then take a step forward but if its just a timely thing and short term, think twice. Its better to take the pain and run without the decision than taking it and keeping burden of it on your shoulders.

5. If 1 to 4 seems to be confusing, tell your problem to your nearest friend, tell him to view the situation as he was you and what he would have done if this was the situation.

6. Don’t keep decision long pending, it hurts when things are not moving and you are ignoring or delaying them.

7. Don’t follow others blindly unless your inner voice accepts decisions

8. Don’t consider other’s situation for certain decisions, because different people make different decisions in same situations. Closely monitor your situation and analyze points 1-4, if the benefits are higher then go ahead and if things are not showing promising, pull out the things.

9. Have a faith on your Blink, your first reaction. For whatever decision you make, what was the first reaction came into the mind. Was it yes.. Then ask yourself why this was yes and if it was No why your first voice from inside was no.. You will get the answer.

10. Build strength within you and make yourself 100% available mentally when you take a decision, because half hearted things never work well in long term decisions.

I have tried the tricks above and it has helped me to take certain decisions well, you may try and tell me if things work for you as well.
Take bold decisions, even if they hurt in short term, they give good long term benefits.

Welcome Problems, You are my teachers

Welcome Problems, You are my teachers

There is no better teacher in life than the Problems themselves. If there would have been a light across the day and night, there would have not been Bulb Invented by Mr. Thomas Alva Edison. It was the problem of darkness in absence of sun, that made Mr. Edison to think of alternate source of Light and he invented the bulb, not only that he capitalized very well on his invention by forming General Electric company now known as GE.

It puzzles you when the problem comes and shakes hand with you (sometimes it hugs you as well :-) ), immediately a question arises that why has this problem came to me? What went wrong?

Here comes the destruction, frustration, low indemnity and energy goes down to bottom.

Here is the trick to avoid all above.

Change the perspective of looking at the problem.

Consider a problem as an examination that you have to take before you can get reward for all your hard work. Take the examination with high level of confidence; you need to believe that it’s just the test you have to clear with good marks. You need to believe that you are capable to overcome all the hurdles that come towards the way of success.

And the magic begins, once the problem is solved, you can look back and see what a miracle you have achieved. Now let’s take a revision.

What if there was no problem, you would have been all relaxed but an unused entity. You would have not learned to live in unfavorable conditions, your confidence level would have not been so high that is now, in short you are a much better person now than before.

So let’s welcome problems ( don’t create them :-) ) , because there is no better teacher than a Problem itself.

Stay Focused, Stay Objective

Our surroundings try to influence us every bit of time, it’s up to us what to take and what to neglect. That is what called focused approach or an Objective thinking practice.
Communication with others and communication with yourself will give you an indication of whether you are talking subjective or objective.

Let’s first understand what subjective thinking is
1. A thought or discussion which is based on an individual. Example “Mr. X is not a good person, Mr. Y is a nice guy, Mrs. Z doesn’t like me”
2. A discussion about any living or non living entity, “This table is good,”, “That politician is not bad”…
3. A criticism towards an individual or organization or a process. Discussion about the problem is also a subjective discussion.

Now if above is subjective, what is objective thinking
1. A discussion bound to an entire process or organization or society or nation.
2. A discussion or a thought regarding a solution of a problem.
3. A discussion or a thought not about a person but the circumstances that made a person good or not good.

Why objective thinking is better than Subjective thinking?
The objective thinking means we are talking about the unfriendly circumstances that could be improved and any living and unloving entity could get the benefit of improvement.

The objective thinking lets us stay focused to overall objective and rather than thinking individuals, we can think of whether the objective is being sufficed or there are barriers to suffice it.

The objective thinking keeps us away from being in judgmental role for any human being or non human being. The judgments are always relative and may get influenced by so many circumstances.

There is really no need to be subjective about others and worry on behalf of them.

The subjective thinking keeps us away from our creative thinking.

The subjective thinking can take us away from overall objective and it may indulge us in unnecessary controversies.

We should be Objective bound and not subjective bound. An objective bound thinking can keep us focused towards individual or organizational goals. Subjective thinking will do opposite of it.

So let’s take a call, let’s think what was the purpose of our existence at one place (at our role, our position), do the best we can to suffice the objectives of our life, our organization, our society, our nation and then the universe.

All the above entities are expecting us to do better than the best and its only possible if we think only about objectives and keep ourselves focused on meeting the goals and stay away from individualism.

How you present yourself to others is more important than just being a specialist human being. You express yourself to the world by the medium of communication. Let’s don’t relate the communication to a specific language but knowledge of a language (especially English) is more important to be a good communicating personality.

Let’s put up some points here that differentiate you from others as a good communicator.

1. Break the silence: Believe me the silence could kill you virtually if you don’t speak, if you don’t present yourself, the world will never know what you are? Why are you there and what you want to accomplish. So please speak up with people, manager, colleague, coworker, friends because you need to make people feel your presence.

2. Respond to the questions: Sometimes a casual approach could cause a damage to your career. If you missed responding an email could cause you an increment in job, a promotion, a much desired position you always wanted or a much wanted sales lead you wanted to close. Every question thrown towards you should be replied, otherwise the questioning person will think either you are not capable or you are not interested in the opportunity he is willing to give you.

3. Stick to the point: It’s very important that you stay on track when you talk. A good communicator is not allowed to discuss about everything in the world but only the topic he started to discus. Always find the motive of discussion and take the first priority point first to discus. Do not drive yours or other person’s attention to anything else but the objective of discussion.

4. Repeat the important things: If you started to talk about something called “Topic 1”, you may have to repeat it for couple of times. The reason is if it’s a long discussion, sometimes the listener forgets the original point, so you have to remind the listener that we started with “Topic 1”, that makes your communication focused and fruitful.

5. Be Yourself : You should express "what you are" not that "what you are not." its easy to catch a manipulation.

My personal experience has made me believe that most successful people are always good communicating people. The one having excellent skills and no communication faces a competition if he/she doesn’t communicate well.

Speak up and make the world feel your presence.

Positivity is a magnet that attracts everyone around us. It spreads the positive signals in the environment and as a return we get the same response from people and environment. Positive people are the most influential people in the world.

What is Positive Attitude?
An attitude that throws away all negative forces and accepts positivity as a way of life is a positive attitude. An attitude that never accept failure as a lost but it accepts it as one of the way of success. A positive person never reacts on situations but acts on them.

Why should we practice positivity?
A normal human behavior is encouraging negativity, it’s very difficult to avoid a negative thought, the current media exposure is making it even worse to keep ourselves away from negativity. The negativity affects the thinking pattern and that reflects in behavior. It passes from one to other person and it takes very little time to spread in society. It can put family and society in trouble with major consequences. So it’s very important that we stop it at the beginning and take positive steps immediately.

How should we practice Positivity?
We can practice positivity in a very systematic way, just avoid the following things and you could be a positive force yourself.
1. Do not spread negative news among group. Verify if the news is genuine, even if it’s right, present to other that it doesn’t harm much.
2. Keep away from negative people, if you can change them that’s great, if you cannot, it’s good to avoid them.
3. Start a day with positive thoughts; feel like you have solution of all problems, and believe that if you cannot solve it, your god will solve it for you.
4. Smile is a good dose of positivity, spread it wherever you travel, most likely you will get a smile back from the other people.
5. Control your negative thoughts; train your conscious mind with your subconscious mind with positive thinking and positive thoughts.
6. Keep away from negative media, television serials, movies showing violence and any other form of external factor, which destroys all positive forces within you.
7. Watch positive movies, television serials, advertisements. A good dose of small positive thoughts will be enough to feed your inner soul with lot of positive energy.
8. Spread Positive news with toping of little more positive thoughts.
9. Avoid thinking what others think for you, focus on your life and make it happier because you are the epicenter of positivity.

A very good saying is “We see the world as we are”, if we are positive, the world reflects it and its true otherwise.

A Successful person is the one who has shown a sense of urgency in life. You cannot be a successful person if you wait for things to happen rather than trying to make them happen for you.

Certain things in life never come back if they are lost once, like an opportunity could be once in life time, if we don’t grab it, it’s lost forever. It’s essential to develop a sense of urgency to grab every opportunity in life before it’s too late to grab it.

A sense of urgency starts as soon as we start our day. If we have to turn up at work at 10:00 AM we cannot afford to get up late and then giving reasons to self and others for the late coming.

I would like to link this with professionalism, a good professional finishes his task on or before time so that he can feel a sense of completion than waiting for a long. Few very good people could develop a casual approach towards their tasks, here comes the delay and guess what; the task is more than double on very next moment because it was not done on time. Why do we do this? Why do we invite an evil while we could be an angel?

Now the question is why we should develop a sense of urgency.
1. A sense of urgency in task always avoids an emergency. We all know how difficult it is to handle an emergency. Not all of us are mentally capable to handle emergency.

2. It gives a peace of mind once we finish things on time or before time.

3. It allows us to do more in less time, because the task1 was done before time, let’s take task 2.. or 3 and finish that also. The more we do the better will be an experience and knowledge.

4. A timely completion leaves lot of time to spend on hobbies or any other liking.

5. Above all a true performer is recognized only after his great sense of urgency. People who delay are considered as sick areas of the institutions.

Do not wait till last moment to finish things you have on table, its like if you wait for a last ball of last over ( in cricket) so you can hit a winning shot, you may lose a game. Or if you wait for a penalty shot, you may not have enough to win a game (in soccer).

People Management and Relations

Good and healthy relations can pay off for life time, it’s like planting a tree that gives short term and long term benefits at different stages of life.

We should value our relations with nears and dears, friends, colleagues, neighbors, vendors and clients. a relation once spoiled could be a loss of opportunity like cutting a tree which could have served us for life long.

We all almost know how to maintain relations but sometimes some behavioral oversight causes us a crack in relations, I would like to advice few of following tips that could help us build and maintain relations, it could be used by the leaders to manage people.

1.” Put yourself in other’s shoes “, this could solve many of the problems you have with others. Try to understand the other person, his background and his situation when he/she misbehaved with you. He might have been annoyed by situation, he might not be aware when he misbehaved. Try to understand the situation at other end, communicate with the person and try to find the fact than a fault. This would help you retain the relations.

2. “Ignorance is the slow poison for relations”, try not to ignore people or they will start ignoring you J. We start ignoring people for many reasons, sometimes we are busy a lot that we don’t care about others, sometimes intentionally we ignore because we believe we are better than others, under any case that leads to spoil a relation, we tend to lose a friend, a colleague, a client, a vendor who could have significantly contributed in our growth.

3. “Control the aggression or aggression will control you”, it’s good to be aggressive but for relations its all reverse, it’s always good to express compassion in relations than aggression. We should not do a conversation that could make us feel sorry about ourselves. Build courage to listen to an advice, a real truth about ourselves or take blame positively. If someone is communicating to us with our entire fault, a hidden truth about us or my inability to tackle a situation then it’s all what he/she thinks about us, and possible it could be a reflection of my behavior with that individual.

4. “Don’t wait to say Sorry or it will be too late to say that”, apology will surely put you in different stage in relations. Being an human, we are bound to make mistakes, but we always have chances to fill the gaps but our apologetic behavior. Express your caring feeling and the other person will be willing to go to any extent to retain relations with you.

“We have never seen the God and Might never see it in remaining life but God sends his agents around us in the form of relations to help us in difficult situations”

Take the pain and maximize the gain

The most difficult phase of life gives the best lessons of living; hard lessons could not be learned without facing the obstacles. Probably that is the reason there are few successful people, very few by luck and most of them are by virtue of taking lot of pain and sustaining it till they are successful.

Why should you take the pain? Life could be lived easier and in a most comfortable state. What is the need of thinking a lot and taking actions on it?
There is a need; because you wanted to be uncommon, you wanted to be focused and you wanted to get all what others could not. Why not?

What does it mean by taking a pain? Who should take it?
Taking a pain is doing something extra that others didn’t, thinking something more which others could not, working little hard which was avoided by others. Challenging your own abilities and overcoming the conditioning is also as good as taking a pain. It should taken by someone who wants to come out of the crowd.

What is something extra? Can’t it be just smart work?
Something extra could be related to hunger of learning more in less time, experimenting something new while still working on the routine. Believing in your own abilities and taking more responsibility than others is also called taking more pain. Smart workers can do it even better but smart work is not a synonym of hard work. While smart work can always lessen the amount of work, hard work gives an inner happiness of accomplishing something.

What is the gain? When should you expect it?
The gain could be a visible change in your living standard, your designation at job, a change of social status or an invisible gain like sustaining power in difficulties. A top level executive, A top level politician, a top level sports person or a spiritual guru could be seen as the gainers, they are those who have taken a pain of working harder than others, thinking different than others, caring more than others and surpassing all obstacles due to their higher experience in relative domains. The timing of gain may vary from a day to a year to a decade or more depending on your area of expertise and amount of pain you have taken. The more pain you take it, the more gain you get it, the more early you take a pain, the faster could be the result.

Example 1 : You are a marketer, you want to clinch a deal, so you are working on presentation, the day is over but presentation is not, you have taken a pain of leaving your sleep behind and completed the presentation, guess what? You made a good presentation and success comes to you, even if this deal is not worked out, you have an exception material which could be used for many other presentations.
You could have made excuses to your boss saying it was late night and your wife was not well so presentation was not over…..no pain and no gain…

Example 2 : You are an office executive, you are taking more responsibilities, due to that you leave office late, you are becoming the point of criticism because not all stay late, not all are taking more responsibilities. So what, if you are ok to take a pain, you get a bigger gain directly or indirectly, by getting recognition in the organization, a designation, and opportunity of learning more in less time and above all you become a close aid of management. You can escape all this pain saying all lot of stories, I have a family, I have friends, I stay too far, I am not healthy… no pain and no gain.

Exercise for you : Go out and find the people who have gained more, study their life and their past, note down t heir pains and compare their current gains. Have a great life ahead.
