In a bid to show appreciation and support for the country’s frontline workers, TVS has donated 25 Apache RTR 160 motorcycles to the Bengaluru City Police Department. This announcement comes just two days after Hero Motocorp donated 751 Glamour 125 to the Karnataka force.

The said bikes were donated in stock avatar by Meghashyan Dighole, head of marketing of the premium motorcycle division at TVS Motor Company, in presence of the state’s home minister, Basavaraj Bommai, as well as the commissioner of police, Kamal Pant.

The TVS Apache RTR 160 is powered by a two-valve, 159.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 15.53PS and 13.9Nm. The bike follows the older generation’s styling, unlike the Apache RTR 160 4V. The Apache RTR 160 is priced at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Jawa motorcycles have been one of the most cherished cruisers across India ever since their resurrection two years ago. There are a plethora of customizations based on the Jawa 42 out in the world though, its newly customized adventure tourer avatar by Bombay Custom Works is worth all the attention.

The customizers have officially gone behind the retro-classic profile of the cruiser and exchanged it for an off-roading adventure motorcycle profile that also features some scrambler-inspired bits. The rugged design language of the cruiser has been adorned with dual-purpose tyres as well as a raised handlebar unit which has been further mated to knuckle guards adding to the authenticity.

The customizers at Bombay Custom Works have imparted the motorcycle with a custom exhaust unit while the underskin has been protected with a custom bash plate. The pinstripes available on the fuel tank as well as the toolbox of the stock motorcycle have been kept the same while the front and rear profile has been tweaked a bit.

The customized Jawa 42 Adventure Tourer has been equipped with a redesigned front fender while the round headlight unit at the front is housed in a distinctive guard. The customizers have further offered the motorcycle a custom metal saddle holder while the rear has been offered a unique LED taillight strip positioned at the rear mudguard. The crash guard on the customized cruiser features auxiliary lights for additional safety while touring. The overall black colour scheme further adds to its rugged outlook.

Few weeks after launching the much-awaited Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Royal Enfield has introduced two new colour options for the Classic 350: Metallo Silver and Orange Ember. According to the brand, these colours give the popular roadster a youthful appearance. The Orange Ember shade gets a dual-tone finish of black and orange on the fuel tank and we must admit it looks quite bright. As for the Classic 350 Metallo Silver, it seems to have taken inspiration from the Triumph Street Twin, not the first time RE has taken cues from the British brand.

As for pricing, both colour variants will cost you Rs 1,83,164 (ex-showroom Delhi). Yes, it’s quite pricey considering the base variant of the Meteor is priced at Rs 1.76 lakh and the Meteor 350 Stellar variant at Rs 1.81 lakh. Apart from the new colours, no other changes have been made to the Classic 350. These new colour variants will go on sale tomorrow. Customers can also customise the new colour variants under Royal Enfield’s ‘Make It Yours’ initiative available at all dealerships as well as its website and app.

For the die-hard Yamaha enthusiasts, a recently customized Yamaha RX 135 retro-modern cafe racer is worth grabbing all the attention. Abishek Dey from Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar has christened his work of art as Yamaha X13 where the hand-built body panels and an overall elongated profile has made it look out of the ordinary.

The customizer has opted for a redesigned custom front fender that further accommodates the alloy wheels borrowed from the 200cc Bajaj Pulsar. The motorcycle has been customized with a stretched swingarm unit while the OEM shockers at the rear have been replaced with gas-charged shock absorbers.

The fuel tank on the customized bike features a fuel filler from a Bajaj Pulsar. In addition to this, the redesigned fuel tank look is accentuated by unique tank extensions with chrome and black detailing.

The customizer has further equipped the motorcycle with a custom single seat while the overall aggressive riding position has been offered with the help of repositioned footpegs, gear lever as well as the brake controls.

Abishek Dey has kept the engine on the Yamaha RX 135 unaltered while the motorcycle has been imparted with a custom build silencer as well as a ported exhaust muffler. The toolbox on the right side features the “X13” sticker while the square headlight has been borrowed from the Yamaha RX-Z. In addition to that, the customizer has equipped the X13 with custom-made tail light and turn indicators.

The modified Yamaha X13 is powered by the same 132cc engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 14 BHP @ 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 12.25 Nm @ 7000 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed transmission. The modified motorcycle features a front disc brake along with telescopic forks for a well-balanced ride.

• Suzuki V-Strom 650XT BS6 Launched In India
• Uses the same 645cc V-Twin engine.
• No updates to the hardware or aesthetics.
• Performance hasn’t been affected compared to the BS4 model.

The long-awaited BS6 avatar of the Suzuki V-Strom 650XT has finally been launched in India at Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), almost Rs 1.38 lakh over the BS4 iteration. So what does the new bike pack?

Well, not much, other than the greener engine. It continues to use the same 645cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine, producing 70.7PS and 62Nm, a tad less than the outgoing model. Electronic aids on the bike include three-stage traction control and dual-channel ABS.

No changes have been made to the bike’s aesthetics or hardware either. The 43mm telescopic suspension and a mono-shock handle the suspension duties while the twin 310mm discs and a 260mm disc take care of the braking.

The bike follows a retro-ish design, with the large, vertically stacked halogen headlamp, big indicators and simple body panels. An instrument console is also a semi-digital unit with a large tachometer. Suzuki has decided not to update the colours or livery, so the bike will be available in the same yellow and white options.

The V-Strom 650XT had an edge over its arch-rival, the Kawasaki Versys 650, thanks to its rough-roading capabilities, along with the spoked rims, tubeless tyres and electronics. However, now with a price difference of Rs 2 lakh over the Kwacker, the V-Strom will certainly lose out on some buyers.

For years, the Honda Activa has been at the top of the sales charts, no scooter coming within touching distance of it. It has sold 42,000 fewer units this year, which could be a slightly worrying thing for Honda.It is also not the leader in the overall two-wheeler sales charts, the Hero Splendor outselling the Honda by nearly 75,000 units. Will November be fruitful for Honda? We shall have to wait for the results to arrive.

2.TVS Jupiter

The TVS Jupiter has reclaimed the second spot after slipping to third a few months ago. It has performed on par with its score from Oct ’19, selling 74,149 units this year. The Jupiter did get a disc brake option, becoming the only 110cc scooter in the country to get the safety aid. Hopefully, buyers will prioritise getting the safety feature in the coming months.

3. Suzuki Access 125

The Suzuki Access 125 has been our benchmark in the 125cc scooter space for years. Its success in the sales charts is reflective of just how good the scooter is. There has been a slight dip of around 1000 units from Oct ’19 to Oct ’20. Still, 52,551 units sold is a great figure for Suzuki. Plus, now it comes with a Bluetooth-enabled dash, helping you stay connected on the go.

4. Honda Dio

India’s first fun and the youthful scooter is the fourth highest-selling scooter in October 2020, selling 44,046 units, 7000 more than in October 2019. Expect this number to grow with the arrival of the Repsol Edition Dio, which costs just Rs 2,500 more than the Deluxe version.

5. TVS NTorq 125

The TVS NTorq 125 has always been a hit amongst younger buyers, offering a great balance between performance and sensibility. The past month saw the arrival of the NTorq Marvel Edition scooters, which would have definitely helped drive more sales. TVS sold almost 7,500 units more of the scooter this year than in the same month last year.

The two-wheeler market has seen steady growth, returning to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels of sales already. The past month has seen a great run-up to the festive period with some two-wheelers exceeding the number of units sold in October 2019. Here are the top five scooters sold in October 2020:

Benelli India launched its first classic motorcycle, Imperiale 400 in India last year. The retro bike starts from Rs 1.69 lakh ex-showroom for the base Silver colour variant. At Rs 1.79 lakh ex-showroom, one can lay his hands on the classic Red or Black colour scheme. Within two months of launch, the Italian company acquired more than 4,000 bookings of the Bullet rival.

The number of bookings might have already crossed the 5,000 units mark but there is no official word on the same. There is no word on the number of motorcycles delivered either. All these things can wait now what is really impressing is that Benelli has gone one step ahead by introducing Imperiale Raiders Club for the owners of Imperiale 400 classic motorcycle in India.

Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer launched the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 adventure motorcycle in the Indian market. The bike is available in three variants – Standard, Sleet & Gravel Grey, Dual Tone. All-new Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 price starts from Rs 1.87 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The standard and Sleet variant of the Himalayan sees a price hike of nearly Rs 7,000 over the BS4 version.

Apart from the upgraded BS6 compliant engine, Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 gets additional features. These additional features list includes switchable ABS, Hazard Lights, new headlight setting which switch on the headlight only when the engine starts. Previously the headlight of the bike switched on when the rider turned the key to ignition mode. This was affecting the battery life on the adventure tourer motorcycle.

Hazard warning lights, on the other hand, was available on the BS3 version of the bike but was removed on the BS4 version. The Hazard warning light is an important feature in the poor visibility regions as well as high-altitude passes where Himalayan can easily ride.

A white backlight has been added in the instrument cluster which makes it look a bit more premium. Moving on the cycle parts, the company has added a better braking system to make sure sharper braking performance. The side stand has been altered in order to give the motorcycle a slight lean while parked. This will help the riders in mounting and dismounting the bike a bit easier.

Powering the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 is the same 411cc long-stroke engine but with some combustion chamber modifications. This powerplant develops 24bhp and 32Nm torque but BS6 compliance might have altered these figures a bit. Exact power figures are not yet revealed by the automaker as of now. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox which can propel the ADV to a top speed of 130 kmph.

Apart from the above mentioned mechanical changes the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 also gets three new colour schemes – Gravel Grey and more premium Dual-tone Red-Black and Blue-White.

The deliveries of the Himalayan BS6 has also started from the dealers which have received the new BS6 stock. Royal Enfield Himalayan has no direct competition as of now but other manufacturers such as Bajaj and KTM are working on 250cc adventure motorcycles for the Indian market.
