The weekend weather looks good so we will be open normal hours on Saturday and Sunday 10-4.  Remember we will be open over the March break next week on Monday 15th, Wednesday 17th, and Friday the 19th from 10-4.  We will not be open for any night skiing during the week of March break.

Check back often for updates…especially our friends in Winnipeg who have to drive farther then others.

For the upcomming March Break we will be open 10 - 4pm on Monday 15th, Wednesday 17th and Friday 19th.  We will NOT be open for nightskiing on Wed. or Friday because we will be open during the day.  Regular hours of operation will resume on Saturday MArch 20th.

We will continue to be open Wednesday nights from 5-9 for the season or as long as conditions allow.  The only exception witll be over the March Break.  We will NOT be open for night skiing on Wed March 17 or Friday March 19th as we WILL be open 10-4 both of those days.  See “hours of operation” for full information.

The festival is Saturday January 9th at 7 pm at Lakewood School.  One Show only and seating is limited.

The Banff Mountain film festival is a fundraiser that is sponsored by the boards of Mt. Evergreen Ski Club and the Kenora Nordic Trails Association, and also supports the high school ski teams from both TA and Beaver Brae.

8 weeks, beginning Sunday January 3^rd, 2010. 

Week one:  1.5 hours - meet & greet.

• Introduction of instructors.
• Review learn to ski progression objectives (CSIA program).
• Access skiers on hill ability to determine beginner or intermediate level.
• Review Parent and skiers responsibilities.
• Group Photo and free BBQ.

Week 2 to Week 7:  Lesson Program. 

Week 8:  Final assessment, completion of progression cards, group photos.

 Times: to be confirmed.         

(Likely Intermediate 10:30 - 11:30 and Beginners 12:30 - 1:30)

Lessons will be based on current skill ability rather than age groups.

Beginners and Intermediate levels of instruction will be provided.  Experienced skiers wanting to develop their skills are encouraged to take private lessons.

Each lesson will include a warm-up, skill component, an activity/game, an education component ie: on hill safety/skier code of conduct etc. and a brief review providing individual feedback from the instructors.

All lessons are one hour.

Lessons will continue regardless of weather, unless the skier is contacted to advise of extreme weather conditions.

We will have a make-up week at the end of the program (week9), for any skier who misses a week provided the program organizer had been advised of the missed lesson.

Lesson structure for both levels will be provided at the registration desk.  (Ski Patrol Avalanche Ski Swap).                          

Cost:  $175.  To be paid at registration. Includes helmet.

If you need equipment you can get lesson rate of $10 for the duration of the lesson, $5 to keep equipment for the rest of the day.

Please note that receipts will be provided.  It is Mount Evergreen’s belief that this program meets the criteria for the Government of Canada Child Tax Fitness Credit.

• include a significant amount of physical activity that contributes to cardio-respiratory endurance, plus one or more of: muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, or balance.”

We have been very busy this summer at the hill.  After a short rest the snowmaking project resumed at full throttle!  Lines have been dug.  Pipe has been layed.  And A LOT of hard work has brought us to near completion as of Nov 11.  The system will be operational by the last week in Novemeber so as soon as the weather allows us to….we can start making snow!

This will allow us to open in Mid December and ski into April giving our members a longer and more consistant ski season.

We hope to be open for the season on Saturday December 12th.  Check back to see how things are going.

** Update as of Dec 6th**  We started the snow makers on Thursday morning and finally shut them down on Sunday afternoon.  We are now the proud owners of more then 15 large piles of snow and 5 GIANT piles of snow.  The boys will be spreading the snow around this week to have the hill ready to go for Saturday’s opening Dec 12th.

Having snowmaking will also allow us to improve the quality of the terrain park and give us the opportunity to make more “snow based” elements like half-pipes, tabletops, fun walls and tree taps.  If we get enough help…maybe even a boarder/skier cross course!
