Mount Horeb Police Officer Kyle Dix recently reported that efforts to resurrect the village’s K9 program have made “significant progress” since starting last summer. Dix and others in the department have been busy working to raise funds and awareness that, if successful, will make enhance public safety in an array of ways.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team and Madison Police conducted emergency training at the Karakahl Motor Hotel on Thursday of last week. First responders performed an array of drills, including using explosives to breach the hotel’s heavy metal doors (pictured above).

Last year, Wisconsin State Assembly Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) and State Senator Jeff Smith (D-Brunswick) introduced what they called a “CWD Prevention Package” containing three bills that aimed “to combat, monitor, and increase awareness around chronic wasting disease (CWD).”
