Fast & Furious 6 (alternatively known as Fast Six or Furious Six) is a 2013 action film written by Chris Morgan and directed by Justin Lin. It is the sixth installment in the Fast and the Furious film series. Following their successful Rio heist, Dominic Toretto and his crew of professional criminals have retired around the world: Dominic lives with Elena; his sister Mia and Brian O’Conner have had a son, Jack; Gisele and Han have moved to Tokyo; and Roman and Tej live in luxury.

Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agent Luke Hobbs and his partner Riley investigate the destruction of a Russian military convoy, believing former British Special Forces soldier Owen Shaw and his crew are responsible. Hobbs tracks down Dominic and requests his help in bringing Shaw down; Dominic agrees when Hobbs presents him with a photo of Dominic’s former girlfriend Letty Ortiz, whom he thought was dead. Dominic gathers his crew together and they accept the mission in exchange for full amnesty for their past crimes, which will allow them to return home to the United States; Mia and Elena remain with Jack.

The crew are led to Shaw’s London hideout by one of his henchmen, but it is revealed to be a trap intended to distract the crew and police while Shaw’s crew performs a heist elsewhere. Shaw flees by car, detonating his hideout behind him and disabling most of the police, leaving Dominic, Brian, Tej, Han, Gisele, Hobbs and Riley to pursue him. Letty arrives to help Shaw, and shoots Dominic without hesitation before escaping. Back at their headquarters, Hobbs tells Dominic’s crew that Shaw is stealing components to create a Nightshade device which can disable power in an entire region; he intends to sell it to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, Shaw’s investigation into the opposing crew reveals Letty’s relationship with Dominic, but she is revealed to be suffering from amnesia.

Roman, Han, Gisele, and Riley investigate a subordinate of Shaw who reveals Shaw’s connection to Arturo Braga, a drug lord imprisoned by Brian. Brian returns to the United States as a prisoner to gain access to Braga; Braga reveals that Brian will only get close to Shaw if Shaw allows it, and discloses how Letty survived the explosion that was thought to have killed her. Shaw went to finish her off but after learning that she had no memory, he took her in. Aided by a former ally in the FBI, Brian is released from prison. In London, Dominic races Letty in a street racing competition. Afterwards, the pair talk and Dominic returns her necklace. When she leaves, Shaw arrives and offers to let Dominic and his crew walk away without harm, but Dominic refuses to leave without Letty.

Tej tracks Shaw’s next attack to a NATO Spanish military base. Shaw and his crew assault a military convoy carrying a computer chip to complete the Nightshade device. Dominic and his crew interfere, destroying the convoy while Shaw, accompanied by Letty, commandeers a tank and begins destroying cars along the highway. Roman manages to anchor his car to the tank, which Brian then pushes over a bridge, flipping the tank. Letty is thrown from the tank and Dominic risks his life to save her from falling to her death. In the aftermath, Shaw and his men are captured, but he reveals that he has kidnapped Mia. The crew are forced to release Shaw, and Riley (revealed to be working for Shaw) leaves with him; Letty chooses to remain with Dom. Shaw and his crew board a large aircraft while it is in motion on a runway while Dominic and his crew give chase. Dominic, Letty, Brian, and Hobbs board the craft; Brian rescues Mia and they escape using a car onboard. The plane attempts to take off but is held down by excess weight as Han, Gisele, Roman, Tej, Brian, and Mia tether the plane to their vehicles. Gisele sacrifices herself to save Han. Letty kills Riley and both she and Hobbs leap to safety, but Dominic pursues Shaw and the computer chip. Shaw is thrown from the plane as it crashes into the ground; Dom drives one of the remaining cars through the nose of the plane and reunites with his crew, giving the chip to Hobbs to secure their amnesty.

In the aftermath, Dominic and his team return to the United States. Hobbs and Elena arrive to confirm the crew are free. As Dominic’s crew gather to share a meal, Dominic asks Letty if the gathering felt familiar; she answers no, but that it feels like home.

In a post-credits scene, while Han is being chased in Tokyo, he is hit by an oncoming car, resulting in Han’s car exploding, killing him. The other car’s driver walks away from the scene and calls Dominic, leaving him a threatening message.

The USS Enterprise has been sent to a planet in the Nibiru system to observe a primitive civilization. Captain James T. Kirk violates the Prime Directive when First Officer Spock’s life is jeopardized, exposing the Enterprise to the planet’s civilization during the rescue. Called back to Earth, Kirk is demoted to first officer of the Enterprise, with his predecessor, Admiral Christopher Pike, reassuming command. The two attend an emergency meeting at Starfleet Command to discuss the bombing of a secret Section 31 installation in London, perpetrated by former Starfleet agent John Harrison. The meeting is attacked by a small gunship piloted by Harrison, who kills Pike. Kirk destroys the gunship, but Harrison escapes. With Pike dead, Kirk is reinstated as the Enterprise’s captain. After discovering that Harrison has fled to the Klingon homeworld of Kronos, Kirk receives special permission from Admiral Alexander Marcus to hunt down Harrison. The Enterprise is supplied with 72 long-range prototype photon torpedoes and ordered to fire them at Harrison’s location once he is found. However, Scotty, Spock, Bones and Uhura convince Kirk to capture rather than kill Harrison.

Arriving on Kronos, Kirk, Spock and Uhura set out to capture Harrison but are surrounded by Klingons. Harrison helps kill the Klingons and surrenders after learning that 72 torpedoes are aimed at him. Returning to the Enterprise, Harrison reveals his true identity as Khan, a genetically engineered superhuman who was awakened from his nearly 300-year suspended animation by Admiral Marcus to develop advanced weapons for war against the Klingon Empire. The torpedoes are found to contain cryogenic pods with Khan’s colleagues inside, who had previously been held hostage by Marcus.

The Enterprise is soon intercepted by an unmarked Federation warship, the USS Vengeance, designed by Khan and commanded by Admiral Marcus. Marcus demands that Kirk hand over Khan, but Kirk refuses. The Enterprise starts to warp to Earth to have Khan stand trial, but is attacked by the Vengeance mid-warp, exiting 237,000 km from Earth. With the Enterprise severely damaged, Kirk offers to hand over Khan and the 72 pods in exchange for the lives of his crew. Marcus refuses, revealing that it was his intention all along to destroy the Enterprise in his plan to dispose of the 73 superhumans and start a war with the Klingons. The Vengeance prepares to open fire, but suffers a power outage caused by Scotty, who had infiltrated the ship after following coordinates given by Khan to Kirk. Kirk and Scotty ally themselves with Khan and board the Vengeance, where they take control of the bridge. Feeling Khan to be untrustworthy, Kirk and Scott attempt to incapacitate him but are overpowered. Khan then kills Admiral Marcus and takes control of the Vengeance.

Khan negotiates with Spock, beaming Kirk and his boarding party back to the Enterprise in exchange for the 72 torpedoes, planning to destroy the Enterprise. Spock instead beams armed torpedoes to the Vengeance, keeping the cryo-pods on the Enterprise, having learned from Spock Prime (the older version of Spock) of his experience with Khan in his parallel time-frame beforehand. Spock Prime reveals that Khan was tyrannical and could not be trusted in his timeline. The torpedoes incapacitate the Vengeance, and both damaged ships start descending towards Earth. Kirk re-aligns the Enterprise’s warp core, enabling the crew to regain control of the ship, but suffers fatal radiation poisoning in the process and dies. Khan intentionally crashes the Vengeance in downtown San Francisco, where Spock pursues Khan on foot. Bones’s experiment on a Tribble reveals that Khan’s blood contains regenerative properties that may reanimate Kirk. Bones thus orders for Kirk to be immediately cryogenically frozen in order to preserve his brain function. Meanwhile, Uhura aids an enraged Spock in subduing Khan.

In the aftermath, Kirk is revived and returns to duty as captain of the Enterprise. Khan is sealed into his cryogenic pod and stored away with his colleagues. As the film ends, a restored Enterprise departs for a five-year mission of exploration.

Luke Glanton is a locally-famous motorcycle stuntman working in a traveling act for state fairs. While the fair is in Altamont NY, Glanton gets a visit from ex-lover, Romina, and learns that he is the father of her son. Glanton quits his job as a stuntman to stay in town and provide for his child, but Romina does not want him in the child’s life, as she has become involved in a relationship with another man, Kofi.

Glanton turns to Robin, an auto repair shop owner, for part-time employment as he continuously attempts to insert himself into his son’s life. Making only minimum wage, Glanton asks Robin for more money to care for his son. Robin reveals that he was once a bank robber, and offers to partner with Glanton to hit several banks in the area. The duo perform several successful heists, in which Glanton performs the robbery, then uses his motorbike as a getaway vehicle and drives it into an unmarked truck driven by Robin. Glanton uses the new money to win back Romina’s trust and visits her and his son more often. Romina’s new partner, Kofi, objects to his presence, and the two have an altercation at Kofi’s house, resulting in Glanton’s arrest for assault after he hits Kofi in the head with a wrench.

After Robin has bailed him out of jail, Glanton immediately wants to resume their bank robberies. Robin objects, not wanting to press their luck, and the two have a falling-out that results in Robin dismantling the motorbike and Glanton taking back the bail money he owed Robin at gunpoint. Glanton attempts to rob a bank alone and is pursued by police. He falls off his bike during the chase and seeks refuge in a resident’s home, where he is pursued by Officer Avery Cross. Glanton, sensing defeat, corners himself upstairs and calls Romina. Just before Cross confronts him, Glanton asks Romina not to tell their child about who he was. Cross enters the room and fires the first shot; Glanton falls out the second-story window after shooting Cross in the leg. Cross looks out the window to find Glanton dead on the pavement.

The narrative now switches to Cross, who is a low-ranking officer who gains hero-status after his take-down of the notorious Glanton. Cross feels remorse about shooting Glanton, especially upon discovering that Glanton had a son, as Cross has an infant of his own. Cross’s fellow officers are corrupt and unlawfully seize the robbed money from Romina’s home and give the “lion’s share” to Cross. Cross eventually explains the situation to his commanding officer, who dismisses the charges, unwilling to indict his own department. Still seeking justice, Cross manages to record a fellow officer bribing him, and uses the recording to get a position as the assistant district attorney.

Fifteen years later, Cross is running for public office, and has to deal with his now teenage son AJ, who has gotten into trouble with drugs. Cross has separated from his wife and agrees to take AJ into his home, transferring him into the local high school. There AJ befriends a boy named Jason; neither AJ nor Jason himself knows that he is the son of Luke Glanton. The two are arrested for felony drug possession, and, when Cross is called in to pick up his son, he recognizes Jason’s name. He uses his influence to get Jason’s charge dropped to a misdemeanor and orders AJ to stay away from Jason (though the boys continue to talk).

Jason seeks the truth about his biological father, whom Romina refuses to discuss with him. His stepfather, Kofi, finally tells him his name. He googles his father’s name and discovers Glanton’s past. He visits Robin’s auto shop, and Robin tells Jason more about Luke, including his superior motorbiking skills. Jason eventually realizes that AJ’s father is the man who killed his own father. After a fight with AJ, which leaves Jason hospitalized, Jason later breaks into Cross’s house and beats AJ at gunpoint. When Cross arrives home, Jason holds him hostage and orders him to drive into the woods. Although Jason intended to kill Cross, he reconsiders after Cross tearfully apologizes for killing Jason’s father. Jason takes Cross’s wallet and suit coat and leaves Cross unharmed. In the wallet Jason finds a photo of himself as a baby with his parents, that Cross had stolen from the evidence locker.

Cross wins his bid for New York State Attorney General, his son AJ at his side. Jason runs away from home and buys a motorbike, with the intention of heading west to make his own life as a traveler, like his father.

Tony Stark recalls a New Years Eve party in 1999 with scientist Maya Hansen, inventor of Extremis – an experimental regenerative treatment intended to allow recovery from crippling injuries. Disabled scientist Aldrich Killian offers them a place in his company Advanced Idea Mechanics, but is turned down.

Years later, Stark’s experiences during the alien invasion of New York are giving him panic attacks. Restless, he has built several Iron Man suits, creating friction with his girlfriend Pepper Potts. A string of bombings by terrorist the Mandarin has left intelligence agencies bewildered by lack of forensic evidence. When Stark Industries security chief Happy Hogan is badly injured in one such attack, Stark overcomes his stupor and issues a televised threat to the Mandarin, who responds by destroying Stark’s home with helicopter gunships. Potts and Hansen, who had come to warn them, survive the attack. Stark then finds himself in rural Tennessee after his artificial intelligence JARVIS followed a flight plan from Stark’s investigation into the Mandarin. Stark’s experimental armor lacks sufficient power to return to California, and the world believes him dead.

Teaming with Harley, a precocious 10-year-old boy, Stark investigates the remains of a local explosion bearing the hallmarks of a Mandarin attack. He discovers the “bombings” were triggered by soldiers subjected to Extremis, which at this stage of development can cause certain subjects to explosively reject it. After veterans started exploding, their deaths were used to cover up Extremis’ flaws by manufacturing a terrorist plot. Stark witnesses Extremis firsthand when Mandarin agents Ellen Brandt and Eric Savin attack him.

With Harley’s help, Stark traces the Mandarin to Miami and infiltrates his headquarters using improvised weapons. Inside he discovers the Mandarin is actually a British actor, Trevor Slattery, who says that he is oblivious to the actions carried out in his name. The Mandarin is a creation of Killian, who appropriated Hansen’s Extremis research as a cure for his own disability and expanded the program to include injured war veterans. After capturing Stark, Killian reveals he is the true Mandarin; he has kidnapped Potts and subjected her to Extremis to gain Stark’s aid in fixing Extremis’ flaws and thereby saving Pepper. Killian kills Maya when she has a change of heart about the plan.

Killian has also manipulated American intelligence agencies regarding the Mandarin’s location, luring James Rhodes—the former War Machine, now re-branded as the Iron Patriot—into a trap to steal the armor. Stark escapes and reunites with Rhodes, discovering that Killian intends to attack President Ellis aboard Air Force One. Remotely controlling his Iron Man armor, Stark saves some surviving passengers and crew but cannot stop Killian from abducting Ellis. They trace Killian to an impounded oil-drilling platform where Killian intends to kill Ellis on live television. The vice president will become a puppet leader, following Killian’s orders in exchange for Extremis to cure his daughter’s disability.

On the platform, Stark goes to save Potts, and Rhodes saves the president. Stark summons each of his Iron Man suits, controlled remotely by JARVIS, to provide air support. Rhodes secures the president and leads him to safety, while Stark discovers Potts has survived the Extremis procedure. However, before he can save her, a rig collapses around them and she falls to her apparent death. Stark confronts Killian and traps him in an Iron Man suit that self-destructs, but fails to kill him. Potts, whose Extremis powers allowed her to survive her fall, intervenes and kills Killian.

After the battle, Stark orders JARVIS to destroy each Iron Man suit as a sign of his intention to devote more time to Potts. The vice president and Slattery are arrested. With Stark’s help, Potts’ Extremis effects are stabilized, and Stark undergoes surgery to remove the shrapnel embedded near his heart. He pitches his obsolete chest arc reactor into the sea, musing he will always be Iron Man.

In a present day post-credits scene, Stark wakes up Dr. Bruce Banner, who fell asleep listening at the beginning of Stark’s story.

Metacritic gave a score of 63 out of 100 indicating “generally favorable reviews”. The film tells the story of Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) and, under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford), Robinson’s signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers to become the first African-American player to break the baseball color barrier. The story focuses mostly on the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers season and somewhat on the 1946 season with the Montreal Royals. Jackie Robinson and his team stop by a gas station. Robinson is refused entry to the washroom but the team says they’ll find another gas station so the attendant allows Robinson to use it. As Robinson comes out, a scout for the Dodgers approaches him and sends him to Brooklyn. He is offered a $600 contract and $3,500 signing bonus which Robinson accepts but he is told to control his temper if he wants to play. Robinson proposes to his girlfriend by phone. She accepts.

During Dodgers spring training, Robinson successfully makes it to the franchise farm team in Montreal. After a great season there and spring training in Panama, he advances to the Dodgers. Most of the team soon signs a petition stating they refuse to play with Robinson, but manager Leo Durocher (Christopher Meloni) insists the rookie will play for his team. Durocher is then suspended over an affair with a celebrity, leaving the Dodgers without a manager.

In a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, manager Ben Chapman taunts Robinson, causing him to go back to the dugout and smash his bat to privately vent his anger at such abuse. With some encouragement from Rickey, Robinson then returns to the field and hits a single, steals second and third base, and scores the winning run while his teammates defend him. Furthermore, Chapman is pressured by his team to placate the ensuing media hostility for his behavior, posing with Robinson for newspapers and magazine photos. Later, Robinson’s teammate, Pee Wee Reese, comes to particularly understand the pressure Robinson is facing, and makes a public show of solidarity.

Robinson’s home run against a Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher who had earlier hit him in the head helps clinch the National League pennant for the Dodgers, sending them to the World Series. In the concluding notes, Rickey, Robinson and many of his supportive comrades went on to have distinguished careers in the sport including inductions into the Baseball Hall of Fame, as other African Americans joined the Major Leagues themselves.

The consensus states: “42 is an earnest, inspirational, and respectfully told biography of an influential American sports icon, though it might be a little too safe and old-fashioned for some.” Richard Roeper stated “This is a competent but mostly unexceptional film about a most extraordinary man.” Lisa Kennedy, of the Denver Post, lauded the film, saying “This story inspires and entertains with a vital chapter in this nation’s history.” Sean CW Korsgaard hailed the film as “the best baseball movie in decades, maybe since Eight Men Out, maybe since Pride of the Yankees – and in terms of being a Jackie Robinson movie, it’s no small thing when I say that not only does 42 not miss the mark, not only did it score a base hit, but it struck a genuine home run.” Conversely, Peter Rainer, of The Christian Science Monitor, criticized the film as “TV-movie-of-the-week dull and Robinson’s ordeal is hammered home to the exclusion of virtually everything else in his life.”

Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan get together to make a sex tape with over 20 cameras beside Charlie’s bed. They get done with the very strange gymnastic, horse, and clown filled tape and Charlie is pulled into the air by a paranormal force and whacked into the walls, shelves, and doors until he lands on the bed again. Lindsay is frightened so she decides to go home when she flies into the air as well and screams “I’m going to blow you across the room”. Charlie replies “sounds awesome” and she throws him into the camera killing him. Text explains that Charlie’s body was found that day but he didn’t stop partying till days later, his three kids were profound missing, Lindsay Lohan was forced to be arrested again for the murder of Charlie sheen, and an award was out for anyone who finds the missing children.

Charlie’s three kids are reported missing and a reward is announced for their safe return. Several months later, Snoop Dogg and Mac Miller are in the Humboldt County woods in search of illegally-grown cannabis plants to steal. After stealing one and fleeing, they take shelter in a cabin in the woods.

Upon entering they see three strange creatures, later confirmed to be Charlie’s kids, and turn them in for the reward. The feral children are placed in isolation at a child development research center for a few months until they are deemed well enough to be returned to familial custody. When Charlie’s brother, Dan Sanders and his wife Jody come to collect them, they are told they can have them if they agree to stay in a large suburban middle-class home fitted with security cameras. Jody is reluctant to take the kids at first but soon adjusts to having them. In an attempt to bond with their new children, Jody auditions for a ballet performance, Swan Lake, and is cast in the lead role as the Swan Queen.

Meanwhile, a continuing pattern of bizarre paranormal activity in their new home makes them investigate further. They eventually learn from the children that the attacks on their home are by “Mama”, the mother of the children, who is under a curse and is trying to get them back so she can sacrifice both herself and the children. Maria, the couple’s Hispanic live-in maid, is frightened and keeps experimenting with various rituals, Catholic and otherwise, to ward off the evil spirits in the house. During the day, Dan is frustrated with the modest progress of his test subjects at a primate intelligence research facility; ironically, Dan is not bright enough to realize that one of the chimpanzees, Caesar, is now actually much smarter than him.

Jody and Dan, with the help of Jody’s close friend Kendra, must quickly find a way to lift the curse and save their family. Along the way, they seek the assistance of psychic Blaine Fulda, who turns out to be a complete fraud, and a dream extractor named Dom Kolb, who helps them understand that the solution to their problems lies in the mysterious Book of the Dead. However, Jody and Kendra fail to see what the book is capable of, oblivious to five friends continuously becoming possessed and reviving in the cabin. They wreck havoc happens when either of the two read the two passages of the book; one that unleashes a demons and the other that revives them from possession. When “Mama” takes the children to a cliff to sacrifice them, Jody fails to lift the curse with the book, but does manage to knock the evil spirit into Snoop Dogg and Mac Miller’s pool containing a live shark, which then devours her.

Realizing the love for her adopted children is all she needs in life, Jody gives the part of the Swan Queen to Kendra, who performs the dance in the style to that of a stripper. The performance is heavily applauded by an audience that includes Jody, Dan, the children, Caesar, and Madea.

Surprisingly scary movie 5 had a post credit scene in which Charlie sheen wakes up with don Kolb beside him. They just had gotten done giving Charlie a dream extraction(which the dream was the whole movie) in which Charlie explains involved demons, apes, and even dancing. Kolb answers well the good news is Lindsay Lohan will be coming to sleep with you tonight. Charlie walks over to the window and says terrific when he sees large amounts of lights shining threw the window. So he looks out and a car bursts threw the window and hits Charlie who flies into the wall. Lindsay Lohan gets out of the car, looks at Charlie and says to Kolb you were driving and throws him the keys blaming the accident on him. Then the movie ends.

Scary Movie 5 was not screened for critics in advance, and was universally panned. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a score of 5% based on 42 reviews, with an average rating of 1.9/10. The site’s consensus states: “Juvenile even by Scary Movie standards, this fifth installment offers stale pop culture gags that generate few laughs.” Another review aggregation website Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 top reviews from mainstream critics, calculated a score of 11%, signifying “overwhelming dislike”.

IGN gave the movie a 1.0 out of 10. Stephanie Merry of The Washington Post gave the film zero stars saying, “The movie is so appalling that even a film fan who guffawed her way through “The Aristocrats” would feel nothing but a deep emptiness as the end credits begin to roll, wondering if one solid joke was too much to ask from a movie that bills itself as comedy.” Kyle Smith of the New York Post gave the film one star saying, “Down at the bottom of the comedy barrel, where the slimy gray algae-like stuff lives: That’s where this script came from. Following an alien invasion 60 years earlier which nearly destroyed the Earth, former Marine commander Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is drone mechanic 49, one of the last few humans stationed on the planet. Jack lives in a tower standing thousands of feet above the Earth where he and his colleague Victoria (Andrea Riseborough) are part of an operation to clean up the remaining forces of the invasion and extract the planet’s remaining resources. Jack and Victoria maintain contact with civilization via a video link with their commander, Sally, and are due to join the rest of humanity on Saturn’s moon Titan in two weeks. Jack suffers from recurring dreams and flashbacks, featuring images of New York before the invasion and an unknown female. Assisting Jack in his cleanup work are weaponised ‘drones’, sophisticated airborne machines that scour the landscape for, and destroy, alien lifeforms. Nearing the end of his mission, Jack rescues a female stranger (Olga Kurylenko) from a crashed spaceship. She is encased in a sleeping capsule, in a state of hibernation, but Jack immediately recognises her as the woman in his flashbacks. Shortly after, Jack and the stranger are captured by an insurgency led by Malcolm Beech ( Morgan Freeman ). Inside the insurgent stronghold, the insurgents claim there are no aliens on the planet, and demand that he reprogram a recently captured drone. Meanwhile, Victoria sends a drone to scout the area for Jack, but it is soon disarmed by members of the resistance. Beech allows Jack and the female stranger to venture into an area of the landscape ostensibly unapproachable due to high levels of radiation, advising Jack that it is in this place that he will find answers to his questions.

Jack and the stranger climb the remains of the Empire State Building, and the stranger reveals herself to be his wife, Julia. Despite his initial shock at this revelation, it allows Jack to reconcile his flashbacks, knowing it to be the truth. It is revealed that the ship in which Julia crash landed was a NASA shuttle that had been orbiting the Earth for 60 years. When Jack and Julia return to the tower, the heartbroken Victoria reports to Sally that Jack is unfit for service. Sally activates a drone that is under maintenance in the tower to exterminate everyone, but only manages to kill Victoria before Julia disables it with a gunshot from Jack’s aircraft. The duo travel into the supposedly lethal radiation zone, where Jack is stunned to come face to face with drone mechanic 52, a clone of himself. Jack and the clone engage in combat that ends with Jack choking the clone unconscious. Jack and Julia return to the resistance camp, where they help to repair the stolen drone. Beech reveals to Jack that the life form he encountered is only one of thousands of clones, including himself, resulting from cloning the real Jack Harper, who lived 60 years ago. These clones are used to repair drones and scout for ‘alien’ presence. His colleague Victoria is also revealed to be a clone. The resistance is revealed to be the planet’s last remaining human outpost, exposing the truth that Jack and Victoria’s superiors, i.e. Sally, are the ‘aliens’, using the clones to drain the Earth of its vital resources. The drones, it is revealed, are programmed to attack humans, not aliens.

During the repair process, Beech reveals that the resistance has a nuclear device and intends on using it to destroy the alien stronghold; an enormous space station orbiting Earth. Three drones pick up the DNA trail of Jack and attack the base, resulting in a prolonged firefight before the drones are finally overpowered. The resistance suffers many casualties, including Beech who appears to be mortally wounded. To his frustration, the captured drone has been damaged and is once again unfit for service, however the nuclear device is still intact. With no other choice, Jack volunteers to fly the device to the station himself, delivering the ‘hibernating’ Julia as an explanation for his presence. Jack places her back into her sleeping capsule (the same one he had found her in when he first encountered her) and sets off to the space station, telling Sally that he is bringing the survivor to her. During the flight Jack listens to the flight recorder recovered from Julia’s crashed shuttle and, in a series of flashbacks, it is revealed that his original self was on board the same spaceship as his wife. In 2017, with Victoria as his co-pilot, Jack navigates the ship to investigate a mysterious object orbiting Earth (revealed to be the alien space station), but on approaching, the ship is drawn towards the object. At that point, fearing the worst, Jack released the shuttle containing the sleeping capsules (one of which held Julia), as it would be able to break free from the object’s gravitational pull. The shuttle is that which crash landed earlier in the film, and from which ‘Jack’ rescued Julia. Jack enters the space station and confronts ‘Sally’, who is revealed to be a monolithic, amorphous being. Sally is disappointed when Jack opens the sleeping capsule, revealing that he has not brought Julia as promised, but a wounded Malcolm Beech, who had previously expressed his desire to be there at the moment the nuclear device was triggered. (Julia, unbeknownst to her, has been delivered to Jack’s forest retreat; a lakeside cabin where he has stored keepsakes and mementos of human life, such as books and vinyl records.) With Sally growing hostile, Jack urgently recites stanza XXVII of Horatius (The Lay), a poem about Horatius, a Roman soldier who held a bridge against enemies, and proceeds to trigger the device, destroying the entire space station. By doing so, the remaining drones on the Earth are destroyed. Three years later, Julia is living a peaceful life in Jack’s forest retreat, and has given birth to a daughter, although she is still grief stricken by Jack’s death. Through the surrounding forest, members of the former resistance appear, having visibly eschewed their armour and weaponry for more natural clothing. As Julia recognises them, ‘Jack’, the clone of team 52, steps forward and the two hold each other’s gaze.

Kosinski wanted to film a cinematic adaptation of the graphic novel Oblivion which he planned with Arvid Nelson for Radical Comics. Disney, which produced Kosinski’s previous direction Tron: Legacy, acquired the film adaptation rights to Oblivion in August 2010 after a heated auction. Disney subsequently released the rights after realizing the PG-rated film they envisioned, in line with their family-oriented reputation, would require too many story changes. Universal Pictures, which had also bid for the original rights, then bought them from Kosinski and Radical Comics and authorized a PG-13 film version.

The script for the film was originally written by Kosinski and William Monahan and underwent a first rewrite by Karl Gajdusek. When the film passed into Universal’s hands, a final rewrite was done by Michael Arndt. Universal was particularly appreciative of the script, saying “It’s one of the most beautiful scripts we’ve ever come across.”

An injured and staggering girl is captured in the woods. She awakens tied to a post in a basement, with many people present, including an old woman reading from an ancient book and saying her soul must be saved. The girl’s father is about to light her on fire, and she initially pleads for him to save her but then quickly reveals she is possessed, her skin turning pale and her eyes yellow. She is then set on fire before her father shoots her in the head.

Some time later, a group of friends are meeting at an old cabin deep in the woods. Mia is attempting to detox from an opiate addiction with the support of her friends Eric – a school teacher, Olivia – a registered nurse, Mia’s brother David, and his girlfriend Natalie – a girl from David’s car shop. David’s appearance surprises Mia, as their relationship became strained since their mother’s hospitalization and subsequent death.

Mia became addicted to opiates, and the retreat was her latest attempt to attain sobriety. Upon arriving, Mia complains consistently about a stench of death in the cabin. The rest of the group are incapable of smelling it, and Olivia suggests she is hypersensitive from withdrawal. David’s dog begins sniffing at a throw rug in the main room, and David pulls it aside, revealing a door to a secret cellar. David opens the hatch, and the stench of death becomes immediately apparent to the entire group. In the first room of the cellar are various animal corpses suspended from the ceiling and wrapped in barbed wire. Through the next door they discover a burned corpse a book, the Naturom Demonto, covered in a black trash bag and wrapped in barbed wire. Despite repeated warnings scrawled on its page not to write, say, or hear the book’s incantations, Eric does all three of these things, tracing the crossed out incantations with pencil and paper and reading them aloud. Consequently, Mia begins seeing images of a demonic figure. Terrified she is losing her sanity, she pleads with the group to leave, but they unite behind Olivia’s decision to remain there. Desperate, Mia steals one of the group’s vehicles and speeds off down the road, intent on escape. The demonic being appears in the middle of the road, inciting her to swerve off the path and crash violently into a shallow pond. When she comes to and begins extracting herself from the vehicle, the demonic being appears again, and pursues her. In her flight, Mia trips and tumbles into a thicket of vicious thorns, which become animated and wrap themselves around her arms, legs, and neck, choking her. The demon appears once more, directly in front of her, and emits from its mouth a tendril of tangled thorn branches. In a redux of the original film’s infamous tree rape scene, the tendril slithers down the demon’s body, along the ground, and ascends in a spiral up Mia’s leg before disappearing entirely up her dress (and implicitly, entirely into Mia) initiating her possession.

The group find Mia and take her back to the cabin where she attempts to warn David, but the group (skeptical because of her having abandoned previous interventions) believes she is trying to leave to find more drugs. Olivia remarks that Mia seemed to have “run into some thorn bushes,” and speculates Mia may have even done so on purpose to further her case. Olivia’s notable omission of any detail pertaining to the serious damage that would’ve resulted from the tree-rape, seems to imply the attack was semi-psychological rather than wholly physical. A now-possessed Mia kills the family dog, Grandpa, with a hammer and then burns her face in a boiling hot shower, with major injuries. David attempts to drive her to a hospital, but rainfall has flooded the roads.

Back at the cabin, Olivia gives Mia a strong sedative, but Mia approaches the group in the living room and shoots her brother in the arm with a double-barreled shotgun. Then Mia screams loudly and she tells the group (in a demonic voice), “You are all going to die tonight!” before collapsing to the floor. Olivia approaches Mia to retrieve the shotgun, but Mia attacks her, vomiting red, blood-like liquid on Olivia’s face. In the struggle, possessed Mia falls into the cellar and Eric locks her in. As Olivia attempts to retrieve more sedatives, she becomes possessed. Directed by a force documented in the book, Olivia cuts the skin off the lower half of her face with a piece of glass. When Eric tries to stop her, she attempts to stab him to death with the glass shard and a syringe but is stopped when he breaks off a piece of the sink and smashes her head.

While David treats Eric’s wounds, Natalie hears Mia call her name and goes to her in the cellar, only to be bitten on the left hand by the possessed Mia. Mia taunts Natalie by slicing her tongue in front of Natalie and vomiting blood into her mouth. Natalie escapes, but the wound on her hand spreads up her left arm and becomes possessed. She eventually regains focus during the possession and is forced to cut off her arm with an electric knife to prevent the spread.

Eric shares that the book notes that the demon, known as the Abomination (Randal Wilson), needs to devour five souls in order to emerge into the world of the living. To do this, the Abomination has attached itself to Mia’s soul, and the only ways to save her soul are to burn her, bury her alive, or dismember her. His attempts to destroy the book itself are shown to be futile. A now-possessed Natalie attacks David and Eric with a nail gun and then later she beats Eric with a crowbar before she is killed by David. David resolves to burn Mia and the cabin down, but at the last minute decides on a different plan.

David enters the cellar with tranquilizers but possessed Mia attacks him. Eric saves him, but is stabbed to death in the process. David places a plastic bag over Mia’s head and buries her, while she taunts him. After Mia dies, he digs her up and shocks her heart back to life with a car battery. She revives, the possession (and her earlier injuries) now removed. David goes back into the house for the car keys and pauses to retrieve a family photo; he is then suddenly attacked by Eric, who has come back to life and is possessed. The mortally wounded David gives Mia the keys, tells her to leave, and locks her out of the house. Eric warns David, “He’s coming”. David burns down the cabin by shooting a container of gasoline.

Mia recovers the protective talisman necklace David had given her earlier (although she had destroyed it), but the next stage of the prophesized curse takes place: it begins to rain blood, and the Abomination crawls out of the ground. After a long fight-and-chase sequence, including the Abomination’s pinning Mia’s arm under the jeep, forcing her to tear off her left hand, Mia manages to kill the demon with a chainsaw, and it sinks back into the ground. The blood rain stops as dawn breaks, and Mia wanders away from the ruins of the cabin and the overturned Jeep. The film concludes with the Naturom Demonto closing on its own, but remains on the ground’s surface.

During the end credits, audio is heard from the original film, of Professor Raymond Knowby telling about his discovery of the Naturom Demonto. Then, in a brief post-credits scene, an older Ash Williams recites his iconic line from the original films, “Groovy,” and turns to the audience.

Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues co-wrote the script, which was then doctored by Diablo Cody in an effort to Americanize the dialogue since English was not the writers’ first language. However so few of her edits were actually used in the finished film that the Writers Guild of America ruled in favor of leaving her out of the credits. The film was produced by Raimi, Campbell, and Robert G. Tapert — the producers of the original trilogy.

Raimi and Campbell had planned a remake for many years, but in 2009, Campbell stated the proposed remake was “going nowhere” and had “fizzled” due to extremely negative fan reaction. However, in April 2011, Bruce Campbell stated in an AskMeAnything interview on Reddit.com, “We are remaking Evil Dead. The script is awesome [...] The remake’s gonna kick some ass — you have my word.”

On July 13, 2011, it was officially announced, via a press release, that Ghost House Pictures would produce the remake of The Evil Dead, and Diablo Cody was in the process of revising the script and Fede Alvarez had been chosen as the director. Actor Shiloh Fernandez was cast in the lead male role of David. Bloody Disgusting reported that Lily Collins would play the lead female role of Mia, but on January 24, 2012, she dropped out of the role.

On February 3, 2012, it was announced that actress Jane Levy, star of the television series Suburgatory, would replace Collins in the lead female role as Mia. Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, and Jessica Lucas later joined the cast.

In January 2013, Alvarez commented on the ambiguity of the film’s relationship to the original:

Now, the way I personally like to see Evil Dead (2013), it’s as a story that takes place 30 years after The Evil Dead ended. The car is there, the cabin is there (a family bought it and did some work on it more than 20 years ago) and the book has found its way back to the cabin… New kids will encounter it and suffer its wrath. Is Evil Dead a sequel then? Maybe. But the problem with the sequel theory would be that there are too many coincidences between the events on The Evil Dead and the ones on Evil Dead to have happened on a continuous story line [...] But if you believe the Naturom Demonto can force these things to happen… then it could be a sequel… and I do believe in coincidences.

Alvarez, who also has a background in computer-generated imagery, also confirmed in an interview that the film does not employ CGI (except for touch-ups): “We didn’t do any CGI in the movie [...] Everything that you will see is real, which was really demanding. This was a very long shoot, 70 days of shooting at night. There’s a reason people use CGI; it’s cheaper and faster, I hate that. We researched a lot of magic tricks and illusion tricks.”

Evil Dead garnered generally positive reviews from critics, praising the terrifying sequences of blood and gore, but criticizing for its lack of humor from the original. The film has earned a score of 62% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 130 reviews with an average rating of 6.2/10; the consensus states: “It may lack the absurd humor that underlined the original, but the new-look Evil Dead compensates with brutal terror, gory scares, and gleefully bloody violence.” On Metacritic, the film holds a 57% rating, indicating “mixed or average reviews”.

Evan Dickson from Bloody Disgusting reviewed the film at SXSW, and went on to say that “Evil Dead is amazingly gory and fun” and gave the film 4/5 stars. Chris Tilly of IGN gave Evil Dead 9/10, and called the movie a “terrifying, exhilarating and relentlessly entertaining new chapter in the Evil Dead story”. John DeFore of The Hollywood Reporter also gave the film a positive review, calling it a “remake that will win the hearts of many of the original’s fans.” Independent horror review site HorrorTalk gave the film four stars out of five saying it is “the most unrelenting and bloody horror film to come out of a major studio in a very long time”. Emma Simmonds of The List commented, “Evil Dead has ample cheap shocks and few bloodcurdling frights but it builds to something gorily bravura and, if that’s your bag, you’ll come away satisfied. It’s a while before anyone picks up a chainsaw, but boy is it worth it when they do.” Matt Singer called the film “an assault on the senses” and “a success, one that out-Evil Deads the original movie with even more gore, puke, blood, and dismembered limbs. It may not be wildly inventive, but it is effective, and plenty faithful to the spirit — and tagline — of the first ‘Ultimate Experience in Grueling Terror.’”

Richard Roeper rated the film one star out of four, criticising the film’s unoriginality, the characters lack of intelligence, and the films reliance on gore for what he felt were cheap scares. He concluded his review by saying, “I love horror films that truly shock, scare and provoke. But after 30 years of this stuff, I’m bored to death and sick to death of movies that seem to have one goal: How can we gross out the audience by torturing nearly every major character in the movie?”

The film opens with a marriage counselor working with a young couple having problems. The wife claims they are not the same people anymore and married young which starts an argument. The husband walks out and the counselor suspects the wife is having an affair. She then proceeds to tell a story about her sister Judith.
Judith is a therapist working at a matchmaking agency owned by Janice. She is married to her childhood sweetheart Brice who she has known since she was 6. Brice and Judith attend the same church as her mother Miss Sarah a devout Christian with strong beliefs. Brice is a pharmacist and is soon introduced to a new employee, Melinda. Melinda is on the run from an abusive boyfriend . Judith is dissatisfied with her job and anxious to start her own business but Brice is cautious and tells her to wait until they are financially stable which frustrates Judith. She is further frustrated when Brice refuses to confront men who catcalled her.
At the agency, Judith meets Harley, a wealthy Internet entrepreneur who wants to invest in Janice’s business. Harley takes interest in Judith who is assigned as his liaison and they realize they have seen one another jogging at a park. Harley attempts to seduce Judith as they work late together. He asks Judith why the matchmaking surveys don’t discuss sex and Judith states she doesn’t believe in premarital sex. Harley concludes Judith’s sex life is boring which leads Judith to attempt to spice things up with her husband but she is rejected by him instead.
For her birthday, Judith does something new with her hair and makeup. Brice doesn’t notice and forgets her birthday. At work, Judith discovers flowers and is happy assuming they are from Brice. Harley soon comes to her office and immediately notice the changes she made and reveals the flowers are from him. Judith confronts him about all the time they spend working together and Harley admits he wants to be involved with her in any way possible. Judith states she is married but Harley does not believe it will last. When Brice realizes he forgot his wife’s birthday he playfully sings and dances for her and they make up.
Judith is sent to New Orleans with Harley to finalize a deal with shareholders. Janice tells her to flirt with Harley but not to compromise herself and to be careful. Judith gives coworker Ava permission to make her over before joining Harley on a private jet for the trip. Once in New Orleans, seals the business deal and goes out drinking, eating, dancing and sightseeing with Harley. On the way home, Harley makes a move and although Judith initially resist she gives in and they have sex.
Harley takes Judith home where he meets Brice and Miss Sarah for the first time. Judith begins to display a different attitude and Sarah senses something is wrong. Judith is increasingly bored with her husband’s inattentiveness and sneaks out to meet Harley for sex. Harley tells her he wants to help her start her business. Judith asks what to do with Brice and Harley tells her to leave him. When Judith expresses guilt about the affair Harley kicks her out and Judith angrily throws food and a drink on him causing Harley to laugh. At home, Sarah chastises Judith for her changes and exclaims Harley is going to hurt her and take her straight to hell. After a verbal confrontation, Sarah slaps Judith and leaves.
Judith attempts to quit her job but is fired by Janice instead. Brice surmises she is having an affair and after talking with Melinda goes to Harley’s house to get Judith back. He drags Judith from the house and begs her to come back but Judith refuses and stays with Harley.
Judith returns to the apartment she shared with Brice to retrieve a laptop and is surrounded by a prayer circle of her mother and members of the church. Sarah begs Judith to stay and grabs her to prevent her from leaving. Harley knocks Sarah to the ground and snatches Judith away forcing her to leave. Back at Harley’s, Judith is furious over how her mother was treated and Harley ends up beating her. Brice is having dinner with Melinda at her apartment and she reveals she has HIV and contracted it from her ex-boyfriend Harley. Brice immediately drives to Harley’s place and rescues Judith after finding her beaten in the bathroom. He beats Harley and is stopped by Melinda and then leave Harley beaten on the floor.
The marriage counselor concludes the story and the client asks what happened to Judith. The counselor says she is alive but HIV positive. Her client thanks her for sharing the story and decides to stay with her husband.
The marriage counselor leaves work and heads to a nearby pharmacy which is run by Brice, now visibly older. The counselor is Judith and she told her own story to her clients. Brice and Judith briefly talk and Brice’s current wife and son come to visit him at work. Judith turns to leave and heads to church with her mother.

According to Perry’s Twitter posts, he considers Temptation to be his most powerful film to date.
