I'm a week late publishing this. So sue me! Mark where are you!?!? Micah, where are you?!? Will we get to see Pete wield an axe in the next episode? One can only hope. If you listen to this podcast, please send us an email.
Our gang bickers and argues and on more than one occasion the civilized order that Shane and Rick have brought to the camp almost slips away. The show seems to be taking a turn plot wise at the end, as the group make it to the Center for Disease Control in the city. It looks to be pretty zombie safe. Where the heck is Meryl. Only one episode left.
In this outing, our heroes find Meryle's hand, make nice with some gangbangers, and make it back to camp to save the day. Almost. It's been fun to follow this series so far, but with only two episodes left Movie Bonfire will soon need another series or set of films to follow. My brain-gears are turning...
In this episode we witness a family reunited, a geek chow down on a deer carcus and then snuffed by a crossbow's arrow, and finally a desperate desperate man cut his own hand off to survive.

Movie Bonfire is happy to welcome fellow movie and zombie fan, Mark Larsen to the mix. Micah, Terrie and Will are back as well and spirits are running high for the series as this episode returns to the level of quality that we first saw in episode one. In the opening scene, Merle's intense backstory coupled with the desperate predicament he finds himself in set the tone back to where we want it to be for the show. We want to see what happens next.
Does episode two fulfill any of the potential of the premiere? Somewhat, but this episode fell into cliche a bit. A slew of new characters are introduced and are pretty much greeted with a chorus of 'Meh'. Dixon, the racist, shows promise. The actual "guts" in the episode is presented in gory perfection and we are happy to see the sense of fun reappear as Glenn speeds out of Atlanta in his red Mustang at the end.

Movie Bonfire is back! In this episode we take a shot at the first episode of the new series on AMC, The Walking Dead. Closely based on the Comic Book series that shares its name, this series has a number of Hollywood heavyweights behind it. Written and directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption), who is reaching back to his horror roots to produce a very promising first episode. Micah, Terrie and Will's hopes are flying high. Will this series continue to deliver, or will it eventually get bogged down by the collective weight of the walking dead?
I just got through "splicing" our latest podcast episode and I think the end result may have come out just a tiny bit better than this unoriginal film. There is nothing new in this Frankenstein's monster rehash and it's hard to say exactly what our monster is a mixture of? Oh wait, it's anything the filmmakers need it to be given the point in the weak plot. Terrie seemed to like this a smidgen more than I did, but we both were bored by this cruddy movie. Too bad, I like Sarah Polley.
Here Cronenberg adds his own spin on the true story of twin gynecologists found dead in their apartment in New York. Jeremy Irons plays both brothers and shows his acting chops (take a look at those tools in the picture to the right, he definitely shows some "chops"). By any measure this is a disturbing film, touching on standard Cronenberg themes such as flesh, sexuality, technology, and science, all with a little bit of gore thrown in for good measure. As a sleazy cable channel executive James Woods is always looking for the next "hot" thing to broadcast to his viewers. When he stumbles upon a bootleg version of a torture show (what many of today's viewers might dub "torture porn") he thinks he might be on to something. Videodrome is a prediction of a future in which reality and television intertwine so that no one knows what's real and what's fabricted any more. In the course of the podcast, we made sure to argue about such important topics as which film critics to trust, Beta vs. VHS, and what the true definition of "art" is.

Check out the podcast

<itunes:explicit>yes</itunes:explicit><itunes:subtitle>In the year that one of the Movie Bonfire podcasters was born, David Cronenberg made this twisted indictment of television and media.
