Antonio Banderas is now attached to play Mario Sepulveda in the movie version of the Chile Mining incident in 2010 called The 33. Martin Sheen and Rodrigo Santoro are also reportedly joining the cast.

The 2010 mining accident in Copiapo Chile was perhaps one of the most inspiring events that happened in recent history. For 69 long days, the whole world watched 33 miners trapped in a mine shaft 700 meters underground before their dramatic rescue on October 12, 2010.

The relentless coverage of the media gained them a lot of sympathy and support from the public. The men, who became known to the media as ‘Los 33‘ became local heroes and international celebrities for their courage to survive very difficult situations underground.

Their rescue became a such celebrated event in both Chile and around the world, that the media clamored for interviews, show appearances, and book deals immediately after their rescue. You would think that people should have already made a movie about Los 33 by now, but it was only last year that producer Mike Medavoy got to talk to the miners, the rescuers and their families about making a movie about the Chilean mining accident. Patricia Riggen will be directing the movie this fall, and will probably be set for release in 2014.

Byline: Antonio Banderas will be playing Mario Sepulveda, the leader of the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped underground for 69 days back in 2010.

Olga Kurylenko Joins Pierce Brosnan in November Man

The ex-James Bond is back and he finds himself an uprising lead star, Olga Kurylenko. Pierce Brosnan is going to be a November Man, based on Bill Granger’s 13-book series. The story tells about an ex-CIA agent, who will be played by Brosnan, who goes up against his former protégé (Luke Bracey) in a duel against time to find a woman who holds the key to a massive conspiracy. This woman will be played by the Oblivion star, Olga Kurylenko.

The Bank Job director Roger Donaldson is directing from a screenplay by Michael Finch (Predators) and Karl Gajdusek (Oblivion). Beau St. Clair is producing for Pierce Brosnan’s production company, Irish Dream Time, with Sriram Das producing for Das Films.

Emily Blunt in Talks for Into the Woods

Not everyone knows that Emily Blunt can sing. Well, in case you saw the Golden Globe 2007, she won Best Supporting Actress in Miniseries for Gideon’s Daughter. She sang very well on that TV movie, which is entitled “Papa.”

We heard last month that an adaptation of Broadway’s Into the Woods is in works and Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are attached to star. Emily Blunt is now in negotiation to join this Rob Marshall’s Broadway adaptation.

Into the Woods tells the story of The Baker, played by James Corden, and his wife, who try to lift a curse put on their family by an evil witch. The couple travel into the woods to confront the witch and demand that she undo the spell cast on them. During their journey, they run into a group of classic fairy tale characters including Rapunzel, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.
So, on this growing cast, who’s playing who?

Johnny Depp is playing the wolf; Meryl Streep is playing the evil witch; Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are teaming up to play self-absorbed princes of Cinderella and Rapunzel.; Emily Blunt is playing baker’s wife; Christine Baranski is playing Cinderella’s mean-spirited stepmother.

Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield JoinedThe White Circus

Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield are few of the youngest stars today who probably we’ll get to see more in the future. Chloe Moretz will be seen in Kick-Ass 2 and Carrie remake. Asa Butterfield, after Hugo’s success, will probably be followed by The Ender’s Game’s success which will be released later of this year.

The two youngsters have joined the cast of Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski feature film debut The White Circus, which is described as a dark fairytale and follows a downed pilot’s journey across a war-torn land. During his travels he runs into a talking circus bear, falls head over heels for a cabaret singer and challenges the power of a tyrant.
This is a reunion for Moretz and Butterfield. They previously starred together in Martin Scorsese’s Hugo.

The Equalizer Finds Its Villain in Marton Csokas

Okay, The Equalizer is another Chloe Moretz movie, but this news is not about her. The Equalizer is Antoine Fuqua’s project and cast Denzel Washington to star as a former intelligence officer who lives a solitary existence while holding down a job at Home Depot. He is asked to go back to action when an act of kindness towards a teenage prostitute, played by Moretz, lands him in hot water with the Russian mafia. The Russian leader will be played by Marton Csokas. He played as Jack Barts in Abraham Lincoln: The Vampire Hunter.

The Equalizer is based on CBS TV series that ran from 1985-1989.

Michael B. Jordan Is Human Torch In Fantastic Four Reboot

Michael B. Jordan has special power in Chronicle but to cast him as Human Torch in Fantastic Four, well, creating controversy on how a Human Torch goes black this time. Chronicle director Josh Trank wants to reunite with his former leading man on this reboot, but some fans are against the actor taking on the role of Johnny Storm because the character is white in the comic books.

Michael B. Jordan doesn’t think the color of the character’s skin should matter in this day and age.

“Things change and time goes on, it’s 2013 right now. The characteristics of the Human Torch are his name is Johnny Storm, he’s charismatic, and he’s a playboy. That’s it. You know what I’m saying? That’s all there is.”
Michael B. Jordan was quick to downplay the rumors that he’s already been cast, though.
“That’s not real yet. Everyone knows we’re (director Josh Trank ) good friends. It’s something that if it happened I would be ecstatic. I’d love to be a part of it.”

So for the fans, get over yourself! We can ask the artist of Fantastic Four to color Human Torch black, if that suits you folks.

We’re not that pleased to see Gerard Butler as a Leprechaun in comedy ensemble Movie 43, which was released early this year. His most recent action-thriller movie Olympus Has Fallen is not doing well in the box-office and the moviegoers have decided to wait for Channing Tatum to show the same role in White House Down. He’s upcoming project is How To Train Your Dragon sequel.

The 43-year-old actor is in talks to star in the gestating sci-fi action project The Raven for Universal Pictures and director Ricardo de Montreuil.

The Raven (not be confused with The Raven which starred John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe) has been in development since 2010. Once, Liam Hemsworth was attached to star but not now involved with this project. The story revolves around man with incredible, super-human talents, who is on the run from robotic cop drones in downtown Los Angeles, while a police ship hovers the skies, coordinating the chase.

Will The Raven be Gerard Butler’s redemption?

Gold Circle has come aboard to co-finance with Universal, with Paul Brooks is producing alongside Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. Scott Niemeyer, Nick Osborne, Trevor Engelson, and Oly Obst executive producing. Production may begin later this year.

Cinefix again, comes up with brilliant homemade trailer of blockbuster films. Do you still remember how awesome the Iron Man 3 Homemade trailer was?

The Hunger Games, with Jennifer Lawrence, along with the entire cast plus some additions, will return for its second installment The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The first one garnered so much attention and defined itself as one of this decade’s major blockbusters, with intense special effects, a gigantic fan base and everyone’s favorite Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence as the film’s leading lady. But Cinefix doesn’t need any of those special effects to make an awesome movie.

So, they recreated the trailer for Catching Fire. But honestly, it’s not really that encouraging when you see the sole trailer. The good thing about what Cinefix does – they will right away show the juxtaposing videos of original trailer and the homemade trailer, plus the behind-the-scenes. It is more fascinating how the entire Cinefix crew can mimic the dialogue with their accents.

So we don’t know if Robert Downey Jr. will come back as Iron Man on its fourth installment, neither Jon Favreau will. But the two won’t stop to work together. Downey Jr. has signed on to reunite with his Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau for the indie comedy Chef.

Jon Favreau, of course, as what he does best in most of his films, will star, write, produce, and direct Chef. The story tells about Carl Casper (Favreau) who loses his job as a chef in Los Angeles, and decides to start up a food truck to get his culinary juices flowing again, and reconnect with his family.

Scarlett Johansson is also reuniting with Favreau and will play his love interest. Molly (Johansson) is the restaurant manager. Sofía Vergara, John Leguizamo and Bobby Cannavale are also starring.

Here’s what Jon Favreau had to say about bringing Scarlett Johansson on board.

“Scarlett is a tremendous talent and I’m honored to be collaborating with her again. I’m so fortunate to be working with such a fine ensemble.”

If Jon Favreau is making this movie and entitled “Chef,” how about Weinstein Company movie which is entitled “Chef” as well and stars Bradley Cooper and Omar Sy?

Sony Pictures, which previously controlled the property before selling its stake to The Weinstein Company, sent out a cease-and-desist order to the Jon Favreau project, to try and persuade them to find another title. We’ll have to wait and see if Jon Favreau will budge and re-title the film.

Man of Steel Photos with Russell Crowe and Antje Traue

As you all know, Clark Kent or Kal-el or Superman is an adopted child because he comes from a different world named Krypton. His real father is Jor-El, who is a scientist but rocketed Kal-El to earth before the planet destroys. Russell Crowe will play Jor-El, who I think in some Superman films; we can see only hologram or hear voices of him. Faora is a super villain of Superman, who serves under General Zod. Faora will be played by German actress Antje Traue.

Russell Crowe and Antje Traue are seen in full costume in images from director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. We can’t wait any longer to see this most anticipated superhero movie which will hit the theaters next month.

Pacific Rim Photo Reveals a Massive Kaiju Skull

We don’t know really what to expect from Pacific Rim. Guillermo del Toro is convincing us that this is about massive robots or massive monsters. If he will tell us that this is like Godzilla or Jurassic Park, we can totally imagine what he’s up to. But then, he continuously gives us hints on what this is all about by all the tweets and posters released online.

The latest photo for Warner Bros.’ Pacific Rim shows that the humans and their enormous Jaeger robots can, in fact, defeat the kaiju monsters, at least one of them. This shot, posted at the movie’s official Twitter page, shows a massive kaiju skull put on display in a museum. It should also be noted that the Twitter caption indicates these monsters used to “evoke fear,” in the past tense.

Find out for certain when director Guillermo del Toro’s summer action thriller hits theaters on July 12.

Divergent’s New Photo: Shailene Woodley Is About To Jump

Coming up is another YA novel adaptation Divergent. Will this be more famous than Hunger Games or Jennifer Lawrence as least? Well, Shailene Woodely looks like a promising rising star.

Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) must prove how “Dauntless” she really is in the latest photo from Divergent, Summit Entertainment’s young adult fantasy adaptation that is currently shooting in Chicago. Fans of the Veronica Roth novel series will surely recognize this pivotal scene, where Tris begins her initiation into the Dauntless faction. The story is set in a world where every teenager must decide which faction they want to live the rest of their life under, with the Dauntless tribe representing bravery. The Fast & Furious 6 cast are now having an Asian tour to promote the movie. On May 13th, Vin Diesel along with other “Fast & Furious 6” stars, arrived in Manila Philippines, for the red-carpet screening of their movie to be held on Wednesday night at the SM Mall of Asia.

The actor was overwhelmed with the warm welcome of the Filipinos. He even walked on the street and rode the Jeepney (a public transport vehicle in Philiippines), took a picture and used as cover on his Facebook.

Even though it was Diesel’s first time to visit the country, he said that the country is really close to his heart. He told on one of his interviews that his sister-in-law is in fact a Filipina.

“My sister-in-law is a Filipino and so my niece and nephew are all… it’s been a part of our family for so long,”

Diesel revealed that he expects to do three more “Fast & Furious” movies after the sixth installment hits theaters. He even wanted to shoot in the Philippines for the next installments.

“Our tour here was so incredible that when I go back to LA and when we start doing, developing 7, 8, 9, I will tell Universal that I want to shoot in the Philippines. That is because of you,”

Hangover is synonymous with off-the-wall snapshots. The hundreds of snapshots that flashed on the screen by the end of the first Hang over got the biggest laughs in my opinion. Keeping the Hang over Tradition alive, Hangover 3 has released around 50 pictures just to get everyone stoked for the upcoming film. They’re not exactly like the kind of snapshots you saw on the first flick, but there are a few interesting ones that will make you wonder what they’re all about.

I guess we’ll never know what the story is behind some of those pictures until we watch the whole film, but if you still want a general idea on what HO3 is going to be all about, here’s a short summary to fill you in:

“It’s been two years. Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) are happily living uneventful lives at home. Tattoos have been lasered off, files purged. The last they heard from disaster-magnet Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong), he’d been tossed into a Thai prison and, with him out of the way, the guys have very nearly recovered from their nights prowling the seamy side of Las Vegas in a roofie’d haze, and being kidnapped, shot at, and chased by drug-dealing mobsters in Bangkok.

The only member of the Wolfpack who’s not content is Alan (Zach Galifianakis). Still lacking a sense of purpose, the group’s black sheep has ditched his meds and given in to his natural impulses in a big way—which, for Alan, means no boundaries, no filters and no judgment—until a personal crisis forces him to finally seek the help he needs.

And who better than his three best friends to make sure he takes the first step.

This time, there’s no bachelor party. No wedding. What could possibly go wrong? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.”

Mandy Patinkin Joins Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here

Zach Braff is the luckiest guy right now. He followed Veronica Mars’ success in Kickstarter campaign, and now preparing for his indie drama Wish I Was Here. To start it off, he has cast Homeland star Mandy Patinkin and will play as his father.

The story of Wish I Was Here centers on 35-year-old Aidan, will be played by Zach himself. He is an actor who is struggling to provide for his family. When his ailing father (Mandy Patinkin) can no longer afford to pay for his young children’s private school, Aidan reluctantly agrees to home school them, learning a lot about himself in the process.

Zach Braff is bringing his partner-in-crime and brother, Adam J. Braff. They wrote the screenplay together. They don’t have enough money to pursue the project, thus, launch a campaign to be crowd-funded. The project has met its $2 million goal, and then some, with $2.6 million in donations. Will Smith Takes on The Wild Bunch Remake

Will Smith’s After Earth is not yet released and he’s now busy for other projects. Last year, we only saw one movie of his – a reunion with aliens and Agent K. Prior to that; he did his last movie Seven Pounds, like five years ago.

Perhaps, Smith is busy rearing his growing kids who are all active in the same industry he and his wife are into. Nevertheless, we’re going to see more him, especially if his kids have decided to move out of their house.

Smith is now in talks to star in and produce a modern remake of the Western The Wild Bunch for Warner Bros. If a deal is finalized, he will produce alongside Jerry Weintraub, who the actor-producer worked with on the 2010 The Karate Kid remake.

Sam Peckinpah directed the original classic The Wild Bunch, which starred William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan, and Edmond O’Brien as a group of aging outlaws who plan one final score on the Texas-Mexico border. The reboot will be set in present day, and focus on a crooked DEA agent who puts a team together to go after a Mexican drug lord’s fortune.

Christoph Waltz Joins The Candy Store

Christoph Waltz is undeniably a talented actor. We can tell that for he received two Academy Awards already for Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds. Now, he is joining with another two-time Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro, and upcoming stars Jason Clarke and Omar Sy.

The Candy Store interweaves several storylines set against a dynamic criminal underworld in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. A former covert operative (Jason Clarke) discovers the organization he was dedicated to fighting is now operating in his new backyard. When he teams up with a disgraced local cop (Robert De Niro), their investigation leads them to an international sex trade entrepreneur (Omar Sy), a Cold War consigliere posing as a typical American suburbanite (Christoph Waltz), and a beautiful girl wrapped up in an elaborate threat against Manhattan.

Michael Peña Joins WWII Drama Fury

Michael Peña is in talks to reunite with End of Watch director David Ayer for the World War II action-thriller Fury. Currently, Fury has a growing cast of Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, and Logan Lerman who will play as members of a five-man U.S. tank crew, who battle a desperate unit of Nazi soldiers towards the end of World War II. Michael Peña probably will play Wardaddy, the tank’s driver and a brutal alcoholic who has vowed never to go into combat sober.

Al Pacino Takes Manglehorn for Director David Gordon Green

After leaving last minute from Despicable Me 2, Academy Award winner Al Pacino has signed on to star in David Gordon Green‘s drama, Manglehorn financed and produced by Worldview Entertainment. Pacino will play the lead character of A.J. Manglehorn from a screenplay written by Paul Logan, based on an original story by Green and Logan.

Manglehorn is the story of an eccentric man who tries to come to terms with a past crime that cost him the love of his life.

The Toxic Avenger became a Grind house cinema success when it first came out in 1988. It was so strange (and sometimes quite repulsive), that it inevitably gained a respectable cult following.

The Toxic Avenger spawned two follow-ups and its own television cartoon show, however, that does not mean that The Toxic Avenger was a great commercial success. It’s a cult classic and does have a good number of fans, but it’s still a B-movie that’s almost unfit for the liking of the general movie-going crowd. The T.V. cartoon show, which was cancelled after a short run, should be a clue enough that not a lot of people enjoy it–not even children.

With all that said, Hollywood still seems pretty set on doing a Toxic Avenger remake, and Deadline reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger is even going to be a part of it. Schwarzenegger is not going to be the toxic Avenger, but he will be playing ‘The Exterminator’ instead, helping the Toxic Avenger hone his skills to become a big, disfigured lump of a hero.

I’m not really sure if this remake will work out at all. With modern cosmetics and presumably a bigger budget, the Toxic Avenger might look even grosser in the remake than he did in his 1988 debut. However, Toxic Avenger’s crusade against pollution might engage the younger crowd eager to make a positive impact on the environment or something. Personally, I think The original Toxic Avenger should just be left alone.
