IFC Films have debuted a new trailer and poster for their upcoming vampire thriller Byzantium and both can be seen below, courtesy of iTunes Movie Trailers.

In the film, directed by Neil Jordan, two mysterious women seek refuge in a run-down coastal resort. Clara meets lonely Noel, who provides shelter in his deserted guesthouse, Byzantium. Schoolgirl Eleanor befriends Frank and tells him their lethal secret. They were born 200 years ago and survive on human blood. As knowledge of their secret spreads, their past catches up on them with deathly consequence.

In select theaters on June 28th, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton, Jonny Lee Miller, Caleb Landry Jones and Sam Riley.

Walt Disney Pictures has brought online (through iTunes Movie Trailers) a new trailer for The Lone Ranger, starring Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Tom Wilkinson, Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper, William Fichtner, James Badge Dale and Ruth Wilson.

The Gore Verbinski directed film, is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Jor-El, Superman and Zod on New Posters for 'Man of Steel'

Warner Bros. has revealed the following three new character posters for Man of Steel, featuring Supe's Kryptonian father, Jor-El (Russell Crowe), supervillain General Zod (Michael Shannon), and Superman (Henry Cavill) himself.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the superhero adventure also stars Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff.

Opening in theaters June 14th, Man of Steel follows a young boy who learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

New Trailer and Posters for 'The Wolverine' Have Arrived

20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for director James Mangold's The Wolverine, as well as two new posters in the same artistic styles we've seen in previously released poster art for the film. While the previously released designs focused on Logan and Will Yun Lee's Silver Samurai (see them here), these new posters feature "Yukio" and "Viper," played in the film by Rila Fukushima and Svetlana Khodchenkova respectively.

In theaters July 26, and based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Antonio Banderas Boards Chilean Miner Film 'The 33'

Antonio Banderas will join Martin Sheen and Rodrigo Santoro in The 33, a feature film centering on the true story of the 33 Chilean miners, who in 2010 were trapped for 69 days before being rescued. Banderas is set to play Mario Sepulveda, the charismatic miner known as “Super Mario.”

The screenplay, written by Mikko Alanne and Jose Rivera "dramatizes the events surrounding the mine’s collapse and the international effort to rescue them, which culminated in the emotional retrieval of all 33 miners trapped half a mile beneath the surface," reports Variety. The rescue was watched by more 1 billion viewers worldwide.

Producer Mike Medavoy (Black Swan, Shutter Island) secured the miners’ exclusive life rights last year and developed the project in collaboration with the men, their rescuers and their families.

Patricia Riggen (La Misma Luna) will direct with production scheduled to begin in the fall. Medavoy and Edward McGurn are producing with Carlos Eugenio Lavin and Leopoldo Enriquez exec producing. Good Universe is handling international sales.

CBS Films has released (via Funny or Die) a new Red Band trailer for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts' indie dramedy The Kings of Summer.

Premiering to rave reviews at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, the unique coming-of-age comedy follows three teenage friends – Joe (Nick Robinson), Patrick (Gabriel Basso) and the eccentric and unpredictable Biaggio (Moises Arias) - who, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land. "The Simpsons" Writer Jon Vitti to Pen 'Angry Birds' Movie

Last week, we reported that Sony Pictures Entertainment had picked up exclusive worldwide distribution rights to the Angry Birds animated big-screen adventure and set the movie for a July 1, 2016 release date.

Today, Rovio Entertainment announced that comedy writer Jon Vitti, a veteran of "The Simpsons," "King of the Hill," "The Office," and "The Larry Sanders Show," will write the screenplay for Angry Birds – the upcoming animated 3D film based on Rovio’s bestselling app. Additionally, veteran producer Catherine Winder is joining the production team that includes producer John Cohen (Despicable Me) and executive producer David Maisel (Iron Man).

Vitti won an Emmy Award for his work as writer-consulting producer on "King of the Hill." He was also a writer for "Saturday Night Live," writer-producer on "The Simpsons," writer-co-executive producer on "The Larry Sanders Show," and writer-consulting producer on "The Office," among many other programs. Jon also shared a writing credit on the feature films 'The Simpsons Movie' and 'Alvin and the Chipmunks.'

Catherine Winder is another addition to the team working on the Angry Birds movie, joining as a producer. Winder was formerly the president of Rainmaker Entertainment in Vancouver, and also oversaw set-up, production and development at Lucasfilm Animation and served as Senior VP of Production at Twentieth Century Fox Animation where she re-structured Blue Sky Studios and oversaw the production of the original 'Ice Age.'

Commenting on the announcement, Rovio Entertainment CEO Mikael Hed said, “I’m very excited that Jon and Catherine have joined us, bringing with them their vast expertise. I’m confident we are building the right team to deliver an amazing movie experience to our fans.” John Cohen said, “I’m thrilled to have Jon and Catherine joining the project. Angry Birds is one of the world’s biggest entertainment franchises, starting in 2009 with the original mobile game that remains the number one paid app of all time. Angry Birds has expanded rapidly into entertainment, publishing, and licensing to become a beloved international brand.

The upcoming movie marks Rovio’s first foray into feature films, although fans have already been introduced to the Angry Birds world with the weekly Angry Birds Toons animated series. Bryan Singer once again took to Twitter today, this time posting a photo of Jennifer Lawrence sporting all of her blue Mystique goodness while on the set of the directors upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past.

Said to be based on The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142. The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future.

Opening in theaters July 18th, 'The Hunger Games' star is joined in the superhero adventure by Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Nicholas Hoult, Jason Flemyng, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Booboo Stewart and Adan Canto.

Li Bingbing Joins ‘Transformers 4′

Michael Bay and Paramount Pictures jointly announced today that Chinese actress Li Bingbing (Resident Evil: Retribution) has been cast in the eagerly awaited Transformers 4.

The actress joins Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz and Sophia Myles in the fourth installment in the hit series of movies based on the best-selling Hasbro toyline.

Paramount Pictures will release the film on June 27th, 2014.

Paramount's sci-fi sequel Star Trek into Darkness, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Simon Pegg and Benedict Cumberbatch took first place this weekend with an estimated $70.56 million. Coupled with its Thursday opening and IMAX screenings on Wednesday, the J.J. Abrams directed second installment grossed a total of $84 million domestically. Despite the extra day and the added advantage of higher priced 3D admissions, the film didn't succeed in reaching the expected $100 million opening weekend and failed to match the $75.2 million three-day opening weekend take of its predecessor 2009's 'Star Trek.' The film received an 'A' CinemaScore, but word-of-mouth may need to pick up for the film heading into next weekend, as it faces competition from the animated tale 'Epic,' 'Fast & Furious 6' and 'The Hangover Part III.' Overseas, the film added another $40 million, to bring its international total to $80.5 million for a global haul of $164.6 million overall.

Disney and Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 grossed an estimated $35.18 million this weekend to finish in second place at the box office. The Shane Black directed action adventure, starring Robert Downey Jr., Guy Pearce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall, Jon Favreau and Don Cheadle fell 51 percent from last weekend, but still held up well considering the increased competition. Domestically, the film has grossed an estimated $337.07 million through 17 days of release and another $736.2 million internationally, bringing its worldwide total gross to $1.073 billion (with a "b").

Director Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby (Warner Bros.), starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke and Elizabeth Debicki continued to hold strong. Grossing an estimated $23.42 million, the big-screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel dropped one spot from last weekend to take third place. Debuting overseas this weekend, the film added $42.1 million from 49 foreign markets, for an overall global take of $132.3 million.

Pain & Gain (Paramount Pictures), starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie landed in the number four spot this weekend with an estimated take of $3.1 million. The Michael Bay film has grossed $46.5 million since opening last month.

Rounding out the top five was DreamWorks Animation's The Croods. The animated family comedy, starring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman finished in fifth place with an estimated gross of $2.8 million.

Emily Blunt and Christine Baranski Look 'Into the Woods'

Emily Blunt and Christine Baranski are the latest names to be attached to Rob Marshall's big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Into the Woods. The pair are in talks to join the cast, which includes Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep and potentially James Corden, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal, who are also said to be in talks.

"Into the Woods" is the imaginative account of what happens when the lives of new and old fairy-tale characters dramatically and humorously come together. Cinderella, Jack (of bean-stalk fame), Little Red Ridinghood, and the Baker (Corden) and his Wife (Emily Blunt) set out for the forest on a quest to find "happily ever after." Along the way they meet Rapunzel, a Wicked Witch (Streep), a lascivious Wolf, vengeful Giants, and their own destiny.

With the original music coming from Stephen Sondheim, David Krane (Chicago, Nine) will arrange the music for the film, while James Lapine penned the script, based on his book for the musical.

John DeLuca (Chicago, Nine) will serve as producer.

'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II - The Green Destiny' to Begin Production in March 2014

The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced today production of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II - The Green Destiny will begin in March 2014 in Asia. Yuen Wo Ping is set to direct with Donnie Yen starring as Silent Wolf and Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Yu Shu Lien. The screenplay is based on "Iron Knight, Silver Vase" by Wang Du Lu, book 5 in the "Crane-Iron Pentalogy" series, on which the original 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' was based. The screenplay is written by John Fusco (Forbidden Kingdom, Hidalgo, Spirit) and will be produced by Harvey Weinstein and David Thwaites, co-produced by Johnny Levin with Executive Producer Anthony Wong. Yucaipa Films is co-financing the project.

'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,' distributed by Sony Pictures, became a surprise international success, grossing $213.5 million. It grossed $128 million in the US becoming the highest grossing foreign language film in American history and has won over 40 awards including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film was also nominated for six other Academy Awards including Best Picture.

“I loved Ang Lee’s film,” commented TWC Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein. “I thought it was a master class in directing, but I know we are in fantastic hands with Yuen Wo Ping directing the second installment of 'Crouching Tiger.' Production began on Monday (13th May) on Love, Rosie, a romantic comedy based on the bestselling book "Where Rainbows End" from Irish author Cecelia Ahern (P.S. I Love You). Love, Rosie will be filming on location in Toronto, Canada before moving to Dublin, Ireland for the remainder of the shoot.

First Trailer for the Comedy 'Last Vegas'

CBS Films has released (via Yahoo! Movies) the first trailer for director Jon Turteltaub's Last Vegas, starring Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline, Mary Steenburgen, Jerry Ferrara, Romany Malco and Roger Bart.

In the comedy, Billy (Michael Douglas), Paddy (Robert De Niro), Archie (Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Kevin Kline) have been best friends since childhood. So when Billy, the group's sworn bachelor, finally proposes to his thirty-something (of course) girlfriend, the four head to Las Vegas with a plan to stop acting their age and relive their glory days. However, upon arriving, the four quickly realize that the decades have transformed Sin City and tested their friendship in ways they never imagined. The Rat Pack may have once played the Sands and Cirque du Soleil may now rule the Strip, but it’s these four who are taking over Vegas.

Last Vegas opens in theaters November 1st.

Billy Ray to Write and Direct 'Departure'

Good Universe announced today that Billy Ray (The Hunger Games, Breach, Shattered Glass, and the upcoming Captain Phillips) will direct Departure for the studio, from an original script he wrote. Jim Whitaker (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, American Gangster) will produce the sci-fi/romance. Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce. Spencer Wong will oversee the project on behalf of Good Universe. Elizabeth Ingold will oversee for Whitaker Entertainment. Good Universe has the project on the fast-track and will begin casting right away.

Based on the true story of a never-explained avionic phenomenon, Departure follows a brilliant Miami-based FAA investigator who is obsessed with learning how a 727 suddenly vanished into thin air and then reappeared in the exact same spot ten minutes later. As mysterious occurrences continue to occur with increasing frequency in the skies over Miami, the investigation becomes personal when the employee’s beloved wife is on one of the planes affected.

The story is inspired by the book “Ghosts of the Air” by Martin Caidin, which documents real accounts from pilots who have experienced flight anomalies.

Latest 'Pacific Rim' Trailer Offers New Footage

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming sci-fi epic Pacific Rim, giving us a look at some new footage from the film. In addition, the studio revealed a new image featuring a giant Kaiju skull and you can see that below as well.

In Pacific Rim, when legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Joel Edgerton Teams with Johnny Depp for 'Black Mass'

Joel Edgerton has closed a deal to join Johnny Depp in Cross Creek’s crime thriller Black Mass, to be directed by Barry Levinson, Deadline reports.

Based on the New York Times bestselling book "Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob," written by former Boston Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerald O’Neill and published in 2001 by Harper Collins, the film tells the true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf. However, after the Feds closed in on their targets, they double crossed Bulger and ultimately prosecuted him, along with John Connolly, his partner in crime and the original FBI agent working with him.

Edgerton will play Connolly, who in addition to being an an FBI agent, was also a childhood pal of Bulger and his brother.

Brian Oliver, Tyler Thompson, Nigel Sinclair, Tobin Armbrust, John Lesher and Christi Dembrowski are producing the film.

Magnet Releasing has debuted online, a new Red Band trailer for their upcoming horror sequel V/H/S 2 and you can watch it below.

Searching for a missing student, two private investigators break into his abandoned house and find another collection of mysterious VHS tapes. In viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be terrifying motives behind the student’s disappearance.

Starring Kelsy Abbott, L.C. Holt, Hannah Hughes, Lawrence Michael Levine and Adam Wingard, the film hits VOD June 6th, followed by a limited theater release on July 12th.
