Clubmasters – Iconic Vintage Eye Wear

Clubmasters, or Browline glasses as they were originally known, first came on the fashion eye wear scene in 1947. The clubmaster continued it’s extreme popularity throughout the 50’s with different manufacturers putting their own twist on the original design. As a matter of fact, clubmasters accounted for almost half of all eye wear frame styles sold during the decade. Browlines remained popular through the 1960‘s, all the way into the current decade. And they were actually the third best selling frame style of the 80’s. The style has continued to be associated with labels like “nerd” and “geek” and have dominated the Hollywood movie scene throughout their history. Browlines made a huge come back due to the hit TV series Mad Men and the hipster subculture.
