Step 1: Locate your PC muscle.

A common mistake many people make while beginning kegel exercises are squeezing the wrong muscle. Like going to the gym, It’s a great idea to have a trainer show you proper form prior to beginning any type of exercise regiment (don’t get skurred; Kegels aren’t that complicated). Before you begin, (click this link to find your PC muscle.) make sure you can locate your PC muscle and know what it feels like.

Step 2: Start slowly and find your baseline.

The basic kegel movement can be performed anytime and anywhere. Just squeeze your PC muscles as hard as you can, and hold them. Congratulations, you have just completed a kegel. Start by squeezing the muscles and hold for a 3-5 seconds count out the seconds and don’t cheat. Then release. Relax for 5 seconds. When you release, observe how your muscles feel. How many times you can do it before you feel your muscles getting fatigued. This is your baseline in which to set your goals from
Step 3: Use sets of repetitions

Your kegels will be most useful and have the most impact when you begin doing sets of repetitions just like at the gym. Use your baseline to set goals and work your way up. If you can, start with doing 5 repetitions (squeeze/hold/release). Judge for yourself how long you can hold the squeeze for, but don’t overexert yourself at first.

Step 4: Build your strength

Work on your exercises every couple of days to increase both the length of time you hold the squeeze for, and the number of times performed per set. As a guideline, try to work towards a ten second squeeze ten times. So you squeeze, hold for ten second, release, relax for ten seconds, and repeat ten times.

Step 5: Three or four Kegel sessions a day will tighten your vagina… Yaaaay!!!

Try to work in three or four times in the day to perform kegels. Again, everyone is different, but as a guideline try to do ten reps per session, holding for ten seconds on each exercise.

Step 6: Adjust the intensity and time

You can also try to vary the intensity of your squeezing and the amount of time you hold the squeeze in a set. Your body adapts to regular movements and like working out at a gym, every so often you should also change the time and intensity of your kegels. Once you’re comfortable that the exercise is properly done, try performing a set where you do rapid squeeze and release. Experiment with how long you can securely hold a squeeze. Remember not to push yourself to the point of pain or discomfort.

Step 7: Use products to perform kegels with some resistance.

There are toys and kegel exercisers that will assist in adding resistance to the movement. These are not necessary, but some sex educators suggest it increases the usefulness of the workout.
